The St Peter’s ‘Seasons’ programme seeks your support Support those in the community suffering from grief and loss

For the past seven years, St Peter’s has been delivering a programme called “Seasons”, through its after school programme which has provided relief to many distressed people in the community. Seasons is a peer support programme which guides children, teens and parents from the community through an eight week programme helping them to come to terms with the major losses they have suffered. It is offered free of charge. Unacknowledged grief is major cause of anti-social behavior later in life and of emotional and physical unwellness. This programme is a fence at the top of the cliff. The cost to operate the Seasons programme at St Peter’s is significant and St Peter’s is asking for your help to support the continuation of the programme. They are seeking individuals, families and businesses who would like to commit to a regular donation for a minimum of two years. Such donations are, or course, tax deductible as charitable donations. If you would like to become a friend of the Seasons programme, please contact Derek at St Peter’s Church on 636 6388.

Pearce Street Works and Upgrade to Public Transport Facilities on Upper Municipal St Starting Monday 11 March with expected duration of 10 weeks

From Monday 11 March, Auckland Transport and its contractors Nayler Contractors Ltd and Downer NZ will commence safety improvement works on Pearce Street, followed by an upgrade to public transport facilities on Upper Municipal Place. The works will include: - Installation of speed tables and widening of the footpath on Pearce Street, to create a low speed town centre environment and improve pedestrian connectivity. - Footpath and kerb redesign on Upper Municipal Place to improve pedestrian accessibility - Road reconstruction on Upper Municipal Place to repair the road base. - Three new bus shelters and real time information signs on Upper Municipal Place to improve customer facilities. Phase one of the project will address safety issues on Pearce Street. At times during this phase, access from Onehunga Mall onto Pearce Street will be closed to vehicles. Customers wishing to access the YMCA Jordan Recreation Centre car park should travel via Upper Municipal Place. Phase two will commence in early April.
