Be mindful of where you leave your valuables Just a reminder to lock all mobile phones, handbags and other personal belongings away — do not leave them on top of, behind and under your shop counter. Leaving them behind the counter makes them a very easy target for thieves — don’t be the next victim of crime, lock them away. Thieves often work in groups, one will distract you and the other will go straight to the counter to get your valuables, especially your mobile phone.

Large number of Police in Onehunga town centre

21 November,2013

You may have noticed a large number of police officers in the area this week, some of them may have spoken to you. Call Onehunga Town Centre’s Security Guard

They are in the area as part of nationwide strategy to reduce property crime through prevention—this means they are out in the community talking to business owners (you) to find out your concerns and helping you to prevent crime— this may be through improving the sight lines in your shop, keeping valuable products in close view.

Please do make the most of the opportunity to speak to them and raise any issues.

Outside business hours, on Sundays & Public Holidays please call Police —Dial 111

REMEMBER: Report all suspicious activity to the Police. The more Police reports made, the more Police are assigned to Onehunga. If we do not report criminal activity to the Police, Onehunga becomes a low Police priority.

Eight Sleeps Till The Onehunga Santa Parade! Saturday November 30 from 11.30am to 2pm

Are you ready for the biggest event on the Onehunga calendar? How will you ensure the Santa Parade and the increase in people benefit you? Why not have some fun — put out a table, get dressed up, do a window display! If you’d like the OBA to spread the word on your promotion or special activity, we’d love to help, call us on 636 8535. The Parade starts out at 11.30am from Onehunga Primary School, heading down Onehunga Mall from the Arthur St roundabout to the Princes St roundabout before returning along the same route, so people on both sides of the street get a good look. This year, there’ll be further entertainment for families including a wide selection of large board games set up along the footpath including Snakes and Ladders, Jenga, Twister, Chinese Checkers, Hop Scotch and more — all the childhood favourites! We’ll be coming around soon to let you know where the games will be along the footpath. For the Santa Parade, Onehunga Mall will be closed to traffic during the Parade (from 11.30am-12pm), and vehicles will need to be moved from the area by 10.30am.
