I come from a long line of women makers. I sleep under quilts that my grandmother made, my head rests on pillowcases that my aunt embroidered, and my memories are full of time spent watching my mom and grandmother create. The majority of my sewing and embroidery skills are self-taught, and I’d like to think there is a little bit of genetic love seeping through. Aimee has contributed the Mermaid Shell Doll to this issue
Sarah is the British-Australian designer behind Made by Jack’s Mum. Her aim is to make sewing accessible to all, whilst creating simple and stylish clothing designs. Having two gorgeous boys to inspire her means that MBJM has developed a definite boy bias! Sarah has contributed the High Tide Trousers to this issue.

Sarah is the designer and creator behind Inkling Threads. She began as Ric-Rac & Retro in 2013 and quickly became known for her raw-edge appliqué designs. With a background in Education, Drama and English, Sarah loves making things with a bit of a literary touch about them. She loves how appliqué is all about the attention to detail and giving new life to fabric scraps. Sarah has contributed the Murray is a Merman and Meg is a Mermaid patterns to this issue.
Ann was 10 years old when she made her first dress! She had been making dolls clothes from the age of 7 on her little toy sewing machine and her mum thought it was time for her to upgrade to the big electric Singer sewing machine. She’s been sewing and making patterns for herself and others ever since. She has been in the fashion industry for over 20 years. Ann has contributed the Miss Olivia Dress to this issue.
Marina designs patterns for a laid-back lifestyle, inspired by the beachside area in which she lives in Sydney, Australia. She sews continually for her two girls and is always inspired by them to create great designs that fit well and are easy and satisfying for customers to sew. Marina has contributed the Pearlie Dress & Peplum Top pattern to this issue of One Thimble.
Feeling the urge to get creative but not sure where to start? Lauren from Molly and Mama has a passion for encouraging beginners on their creative journey. Her patterns and tutorials are perfect for all sewing levels, lots of fun to make, and great to get the creative juices flowing! Lauren has contributed the Melody Mermaid Tail pattern to this issue.
Lauren is the face behind Tadah Patterns (formerly Fresh Patterns), creating styles which have a nod to nostalgia and a fresh take on sewing. Tadah! Patterns are all about celebrating modern sewing with designs that are accessible, funky and above all, fun! She has worn many hats in her adult life, most of which have revolved around teaching. She has contributed the Makana Mermaid Skirt to this issue.

She’s passionate about inspiring self-taught sewists and helping them achieve their sewing dreams. Sewing changed her life and now she’s on a mission to help sewing change the lives of others.
