s Freshmen in college, we wanted to create a way to further our passion for fashion and lifestyle. As strategic communication majors, we found a way to expand our expertise in marketing, advertising and entrepreneurship. After numerous meetings, we finalized our mission for On Point: For the chic, college student, searching for their ultimate fashion and lifestyle inspiration, On Point provides a fresh sense of style, health and entertainment working to capture one’s best self. Lill’ A Designs Jewels handcrafted by Abby Aleksa
What inspires you when designing your jewelry? I’m inspired by my own sense of style and the beach I spend my time at. I started out by making jewelry to match my style and what I wear, then see if other people would want to wear the same. I spend my summers at the beach and love necklaces with teals and charms that look like shells. What is your most popular product? My most popular products tend to be my most simple necklaces, like the simple pearl choker. How did you start Lill’ A Designs? I started out making jewelry for myself, which I have done since my Aunt gave me the tools back in middle school. Last year, a friend saw me wearing one of my necklaces and asked where I got it. I made one for her and soon more people were asking for them.

What challenges have you faced? The biggest challenge I have faced is staying original and true to my designs. There are many jewelry sites out there and I’m always trying to find unique and fun colors that make my styles pop. What advice would you give someone who wanted to start selling their own jewelry? To someone deciding to make their own jewelry I would tell them that once they find the drive for it they will succeed in it. You have to be ambitious and proud of your work enough that you want to share it with others. To me selling jewelry isn’t about making a profit, but about having the pride of seeing other girls wearing designs I have created.

YOUR GUIDE TO: With finals just around the corner, I am already starting to stress way beforehand. In preparation, I decided to create a plan. Here are my go- to methods of Final Survival Skills. By Maddie Norton
10 LIFESTYLE FEATURE
1. Notes:
The last thing you should be stressed about during finals is if you have all your notes. The week before, check and make sure your notes are accurate and maybe check with a classmate to see their notes too! I am a pen addict and love writing with different styles! To stay motivated, write with colorful and different pens while studying!
2. Writing Supplies:
3. Flashcards: I love using colorful flashcards and blank ones. The large ones make
tons of room for you to draw pictures to help remember terms and to use your colorful pens on! Let a friend help you study when using your flashcards for extra memorization!
4. Breaks: It is super important to study, but breaks are needed to stay sane. Study for a
solid 30 minutes and then take a 10 minute break in between.
5. Spa Nights: Don’t be afraid to treat yourself during this stressful time! My favorite thing to do is to spend one night during exams having a spa night. Painting nails, doing face masks, and watching movies are so relaxing to do with friends when you have been studying all week!
6. Study Groups: Make friends in your classes, so that come exam time you can
have tons of people to study with. This helps if you have any questions or need help on a specific topic!
7. Study Spaces: Change up where you study! Whether you normally study at the
library or in your room, try out different spaces. The Bakery is a great place to study in groups or alone and different academic buildings have study spaces to give you a variety!
8. Rewards: If you have lots of reading or writing to do, treat yourself once you finish a paragraph! Get your favorite snack or candy and eat one bite each time you finish a paragraph to keep you motivated.
9. Schedule: Create a study schedule and stick to it! This helps you stay focused and
concentrated on what you need to review.
10. Sleep: Last but not least, get some sleep! If you are pulling all nighters constantly, you won’t perform well the next day on your exam!

BRIGHT ideas.
Unfortunately, I don’t own a thriving business, and I didn’t create a popular app. I did, however, publish a book in December of 2015, halfway through my senior year of high school. I’ve channeled my love for words and thought into creating an initiative for success for myself and the community of young authors. To be quite honest, I can’t pinpoint just one thing that spurred and sparked me to follow my dreams. I’ve always loved words and writing. I began reading at a young age, and have since been introduced to amazing authors who fuel my love for words. It is the words of those authors, popular or not, that have inspired me to create something that exhibits the love that I carry for words and thought. I’m constantly intrigued by the phrases that people come up with. It’s amazing to me that with just 26 letters in an alphabet, people can create stories and songs powerful enough to make tears stream down a face. In addition to the work of authors, I’ve gained inspiration from life itself. It’s no secret that life is a roller coaster of so many things, and the journey that I’ve been on in life so far has pushed me to want to fulfill my dream so that others may realize that life doesn’t always have to stand in the way of celebration. I hope to publish more books in the future! My first book started as an Independent Study for school, and then just evolved into something bigger in a short amount of time. Because of this, my book isn’t without errors and flaws. I hope to be able to offer more time and effort into a future book. I’ve also dabbled a little bit in poetry and songwriting, so we’ll see where that takes me. Aside from writing, I want to focus on making a life working in nonprofit organizations, and I’ve been thinking a lot about somehow combining my love for writing with my passion for helping others. I know that a lot of times, young people are discouraged from pursuing their dreams because they feel as though their age has left them inexperienced and without much to offer in comparison to those who may be wiser in years. However, there is a Bible verse that I have kept close to me in head and heart: 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” I encourage everyone who has an idea or a dream to remember that it is never too early to start reaching for the stars, whatever their version of the stars may be. It will take hard work, perseverance, sweat, tears, and many other things along the way. But it is always worth it and helps remind others that they can also reach the stars. I’m no J.K. Rowling, but for those who may be interested, my book is called No Idle Dreams and is available at http://www.lulu.com/us/en/shop/chloe-hasden/no-idle-dreams/paperback/product-22413138.html Also, if anyone knows any teen authors, please direct them to a program called A Novel Idea. This program helps young writers get a head start on publishing, introduces them to other authors, and exposes them to different knowledge and information that may help them advance in the writing world.

Alex Hostetler I am currently most involved in corporate entrepreneurship and work with multiple companies to help develop new revenue streams, coordinate expansion projects, minimize costs, and creating an overall stronger corporate growth strategy. In corporate entrepreneurship projects, I get my inspiration from looking at the business models of large industryleading corporations and modifying their strategy to best fit our scenario and hopefully propel my companies further through learning from the mistakes/successes of others. I am currently preparing to launch several companies of my own. I hope to grow these very quickly to become a dominant force in today’s marketplace. I additionally aspire to integrate a humanitarian aspect into each of these companies to help the less fortunate in third-world countries in the fields of education, housing, and hunger. Never give up! You can do absolutely anything you set your mind to. Know what you are working for and remind yourself of it daily. Plan extensively, value your time, and set realistically ambitious timelines to achieve your goals. Also, never be afraid to ask for help along the way, but put forth the effort to accomplish tasks and get things done in a timely and efficient manner. As an entrepreneur I am a freelance filmmaker/photographer and a social media consultant. My inspiration comes from the people I meet and work with on a day to day basis. Two years ago I made it a goal of mine to make a positive impact of some sort on each and every person I encounter. Whether it be by inspiring them to go out and do something different or to appreciate the beautiful world that they live in, I have a passion for showing people how to live life to the fullest. My future aspirations and to shoot a full length documentary that is featured on streaming platforms, to travel to multiple countries that i have not seen yet, to take a missions trip to Africa and spread awareness of the lack of water there, and to tour with a musician. My advice to someone seeking to become an entrepreneur is to never take a day off. Being self employee is very fun but also very challenging, It forces you to get up each day and hustle. May people out there are trying to start a business in the same or in a similar field as you, so you need to make sure that you are always working twice as hard as them and producing a product that is twice as good. nick stafford I balance Business, Art and Passion as best I can. I achieve this balance with consistency in my work ethic, drive and motivation. I draw my inspiration from tough times. I see them as a challenge. A quote I hold myself to is that strong leaders were not made through easy challenges. Sometimes, it is better to force yourself to do the harder thing because in the end you will be better off for it. Leave a legacy that will inspire others, manage a career I am passionate about, and provide value to people all over the world. Whatever venture you are getting yourself into, it won’t go far without passion, vision, and unrelenting motivation. Don’t reinvent the wheel and always be resourceful. With all that said, keep beating on your craft until you can’t help but succeed in your aspirations. Instagram || @sand.apparel Website || http://www.sandapparel.com

Emmi Esker Throughout my time in college, I’ve learned that being an entrepreneur isn’t what I once believed it to be. Several years ago, I would have considered an entrepreneur someone who drifted off the preferred corporate America path. Now, I see entrepreneurs as modern-era rock stars. Ruthlessly exploiting opportunities and constantly seeking out new ventures. For me, being an entrepreneur is all about being bold, creative, and mindful in my everyday actions. As an entrepreneur, I have passionately searched for ways to empower the millennial generation. Serving as High Point University’s Sophomore Class President, I offer myself as a resource to encourage and coach students in order to help them create a life of significance. I was blessed to learn many entrepreneurial lessons from a sales internship I had this past summer with Blue Technologies, an award winning and industry leading technologies provider headquartered in my home town of Cleveland, Ohio. During my summer at Blue, I was able to work alongside the owners, who collectively had grown their small business to become a multi-million-dollar brand. I heard these four men tell stories of the “early days” of the company, which were filled with long working hours and the constant anxiety of dealing with uncertainty. It just wasn’t something I thought I would ever want to put myself through. Even though I deeply admired and looked up to each of these hard working men, I never quite understood why they had chosen that path. Now, I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from their experiences. The lessons themselves had little to do with my sales internship. But rather, it was the outlook on life that they instilled in me. They showed me that entrepreneurship is not a profession; it is a mindset that shapes the way you interact with the world around you. What’s next for me after college? Although I am only a Sophomore and I pride myself on my spontaneity, I have many goals for my future outside of High Point University. Overall, I aspire to have a career in sales, but I think it is important to think of my vocation as something other than just “selling”. I hope to work for a company where I will be allotted the opportunities to be persuading, influencing and activating. Most importantly, I hope to work for a company where I will be contributing to changing the world. The best advice I can give to anyone seeking professional and entrepreneurial inspiration, is to find a mentor. Nothing great was ever accomplished alone. A Mentor finds ways to stimulate personal and professional growth. But more importantly, a mentor can function as a disciplinarian that create necessary boundaries that you cannot set for yourself. You should also consider becoming a mentor yourself. While the primary intent of a mentoring role is to challenge the mentee to think in new and different ways, the mentee is not the only one who gains from the arrangement. As a mentor, there are unlimited opportunities to learn from the mentoring relationship, and also gain a life-long friend. I invite you to connect with me on LinkedIn, and join the entrepreneurial journey of becoming bold, creative, and mindful in your everyday actions to create an innovative future. https://www.linkedin.com/in/emmiesker
Mandy engleman I never thought about myself as an entrepreneur until I came to college. Before, I considered myself a girl with a passion trying to do what she loved. Blogging allows me to combine my passions for writing and helping others. I use my platform as a way to encourage my readers to embrace what mass them truly unique. I collaborate with brands and organizations that have similar missions to mine. There’s a Kate Spade quote that basically summarized my mentality, “She lives her life in her own little fair tale.” I am a dreamer, so finding inspiration is not something I particularly struggle with. When I really want to write, I find a quiet place outside or near a window so I have plenty of natural light. Sometimes I’ll put on jazz music or just listen to the sounds of nature. I completely isolate myself and get lost in my own thoughts. I’ve always known what I have wanted to do: work in the communications industry. Which specific path I’ll take has always been up for grabs. For the past year I have been interning at Creative Services, Inc. in their public relations department. In this position, I help university and companies like High Point University, Shaw University, Great Harvest Bread and Ashley Furniture with their PR. This summer I will be interning at Ashley Furniture’s Global HQ in Tampa, F.L.. I love having the agency experience I get at Creative Services and I am excited to see how I navigate the corporate world. This summer will be a determining factor for which route I want to take post graduation. I’ve tossed around the idea of eventually I w starting my own public relations firm that specializes in working with entrepreneurs and start-ups. I think the process of starting a company and watching it grow is really fun. The best advice I can give to someone wanting to start a company is to just do it. Too often we say we are going to do something but never actually put the pen to the paper. Get up out of bed and go do. No-one can make your idea a reality for you. Just start and don’t ever stop. You have within you the ability to set the world on fire. Website: mandyjengelman.com Instagram: @MJEngelman
evan paterakis I am a content creator/videographer/photographer. About two years ago, I saw a GoPro montage so I borrowed my sister’s GoPro and made a fun edit it from a little adventure with my friends. I realized how much I enjoyed capturing and creating a video to represent memories and fun times. Since then, videography and photography have developed into a passion and a way to help out others capture memories and their passions. I hope to be able to inspire others to live a fun life and help companies get their name out there by creating content for them. Just have fun with what you do and approach everything with a positive attitude and open mind.

I started a brand of sunglasses (Shady Tree Shades) when I graduated high school and have expanded it ever since. Currently, our sunglasses are available through our website and in 8 retail locations. I plan to self-start several organizations (companies, charities, clubs) in the future as well. I was tired of dealing with rude bosses and minimum wage jobs, so I decided I would work for myself. I also wanted to create a company that would allow me to have my voice heard and have an impact on the issues I cared about. I decided whether I made or lost money, putting my time towards bettering the world and taking a risk on working for myself was well worth it. My future aspirations for my company include progressing until we are able to manufacture all products inside the USA, have net-zero carbon emissions, give back by planting thousands of trees every year, increase environmental awareness (among the youth especially), and continue providing the highest possible standard of customer service and quality products. Take a risk on doing what you love. There is no point in living a life you are not satisfied with, so don’t settle for it. Take a risk on making a change and trust me, if you put in the effort, you will be rewarded. Website || www.shadytreeshades.com Instagram || @shadytreeshades Twitter ||@shadytreeteam

“The thought of no homework, projects, and tests glooming over my head leaves me feeling giddy when I imagine the summer time. Instead of being bored at home, I have decided to compel a list of cheap, different, and fun ideas to do over break! By: Maddie Norton
20 vacation inspiration
Water Parks: Anything that keeps me cool and gets me out of the house is an
activity I love! With prices ranging from 10 to 30 dollars, a full day at a waterpark is not bad at all!
Day Beach Trips: If you have a beach or lake near you, a great idea to enjoy a short vacation is to drive down to the water! Start your day early and listen to some throwback songs on the way there and spend the day on the water. Bring a picnic to enjoy and lots of sunscreen!
Hiking: One of my favorite things to do when I am home is to hike with friends!
Although it is super hot in the summer, a great plan after your hike is to go tubing. Near my hometown is a lazy river type of place where you hike there and get to ride back down the mountain on tubes! It takes about 2 hours and only costs around 10 dollars.
Day Trip to a Big City: I love exploring places near me, so I enjoy walking
through downtowns of big cities near me! Finding little coffee shops and bookstores is so much fun to explore and I highly recommend it!
Relaxin’: My favorite thing to do at home is to grab my Eno and take it to a
park or river near me and relax in it! It is so easy to put up and watch Netflix, read a book, or even nap in. Bring some fruit or chips and relax all day!

Toast? Totally.
By Gina Figliozzi 26 health & wellness
“Toast may seem like a boring black and white food. you spread some jam on it and call it a day.” But, toast can be a great nutritious meal and fun way to spice up your eating habits! These toast recipes don’t encompass your normal toast expectations, they range from sweet to savory to fill the need of whatever you’re craving! Here are some fun toast breakfast and lunch recipes that are sure to brighten up your day!

S
pring into your workout!
With the weather starting to turn back to sunshine and warm days, take the opportunity to workout outside! Although many are hesitant to leave the treadmill, the outdoors provide for numerous workouts which are just as challenging!
Some ideas to get you into the fresh air: Live near some hills?
Go for a jog or walk making sure to go the route with the most sporadic changes in altitudes. With the natural terrain having changes in slope, your body will be challenged while running or walking up and downhill. This will provide the benefits of toned legs and glutes! Jump! Remember being a kid and jumping rope? You might want to start that hobby up again. Jumping rope can burn up to ten calories a minute!
Do some HIIT training!
While on your jog around the block, challenge yourself and do intervals of maximum effort followed by a cool down to catch your breath. Alternate between all out sprinting anywhere from 20-60 seconds and recuperate with a slower pace for two-four minutes. Do this cycle about ten times or until you reach your ideal distance!
Hula Hoop!
This may sound childish but hula hooping actually works to tone your abdominal muscles! Challenge someone to see who can keep it up the longest. A great party idea to get everyone moving!
Remember that any free weights can be taken outside too!
Don’t limit yourself to the gym, invest in some weights to bring into your own backyard. Fresh air and enjoying the scenery can make you feel your best. As you workout and we come closer to the Summer time, don’t stress if your body isn’t where you would like it to be just yet. Remember that we are our toughest critics and are more often than not too hard on ourselves. Reality is, no one’s body is perfect. None. Don’t workout to get that ‘bikini Summer body’! Workout because of all of the health benefits, both physical and mental and know that you are worth so much more than your physical appearance. An old cliche, but it rings with truth; beauty truly does come from within! Have a fabulous Summer and enjoy all of life’s little moments! Be happy.

outfits. Strut to your workout in these three neautral looks that will last year round. Stray away from basic activewear by incorporating fashion forward pieces such as this white sports bra from Lorna Jane Active (outfit one) or marble leggings from Stella McCartney by Adidas (outfit three). Let’s be honest, you can only give your A game with an A game outfit. health & wellness

for a perfect study break
Hours studying in Starbucks, late night library sessions, and copious amounts of coffee mean that Finals are upon us. Before you get too stressed, make time for yourself where you can relax and rejuvenate. One of the most therapeutic ways of doing this is to listen to music that instantly de-stresses you. Ludwig van Beethoven once wrote, “Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and learning.” Music with too many lyrics can distract and shift focus off of your work, so try to find songs with little to no lyrics for optimal studying. That’s right, music by ODESZA may actually help you focus. Additionally, nature sounds such as rain or wind have shown to promote calming sensations. Music that features such sounds can help you relax during an intense study session. Lastly, give yourself a study break and listen to music you typically. It’s important to maintain a sense of fun and consistency during a demanding week. Here’s to the best of luck on your finals!
