The CEO Programme integrates worldclass experts, hands-on problem-solving with your senior team and board chair, peer learning, individual coaching, and a 360º assessment. This will facilitate practical and thoughtful individual and group growth and help you to gain a better understanding of your leadership strengths and challenges. It will also strengthen capabilities amongst your senior team and board chair and provide you with a vibrant, supportive and ongoing commnity of peers. The programme is designed to take account of the demands of your challenging schedule. Interactions are limited to one per month, with time dedicated to enabling progress on your Organisation Impact Project. There is no ‘homework’ and any supporting materials are tightly focused. Pre-launch: Gather 360º and strengthbased feedback Throughout the programme: Tackle your self-designed ‘Organisation Impact Project’, to make a significant improvement in your organisation, and share your experience in a collaborative environment Every month: Discuss your progress and challenges in a coaching session, alternating professional and peer coaching Month 1: Kick off with an immersive three-day residential to start building meaningful relationships with your peers and engaging with experts, and refine your Organisation Impact Project
Month 2: Come together for a first halfday working session, including either lunch or dinner. You’ll have the chance to have a no-holds-barred conversation with a leader in her/his field, who will share lessons learned from their successes, and failures. You will also spend several hours working with your learning group of 4-5 participants on your Organisation Impact Projects and other relevant topics Month 3: Come together for second half-day working session (as above) Month 4, day 1: Host a full-day working session on your Organisation Impact Project with your top team, and a relevant expert, who we will help you to find Month 4, day 2: Experience a high-functioning board in action. Attend, with your board chair, a curated simulated board meeting, facilitated by governance experts, and experienced board leaders
Beyond the programme, you’ll continue to integrate into the diverse, collaborative and increasingly international On Purpose community. The half-day working sessions and governance day will take place in London. The two residential modules will take place at a venue within easy travelling distance from London. You will host the Organisation Impact Project full-day working session (Month 4, day 1) at your preferred location. Coaching will take place at a mutually agreed upon time and place. Whilst geographically the programme is based in London, we welcome applications from across the UK (and beyond). To apply, you’ll need the support of your senior team and board chair (if applicable). The programme is designed to embed and accelerate learning throughout the organisation and their active support and participation is important to you and your organisation’s success in the programme.
Month 5: Come together for the third half-day working session (as above) Month 6: Celebrate and report on your Organisation Impact Project and chart the way forward in the final two-day off-site. Return to your organisation with the plan and skills to continue your momentum
Ultimately, the Organisation Impact Project is designed to enable you to move from the urgent, to the important, and focus 3
Organisation Impact Project The Organisation Impact Project is a cornerstone of the CEO Programme that allows you to focus your time, energy and learning on an opportunity or challenge that is crucial to you and your organisation. While we ask you to apply with a well-thought-through Organisation Impact Project in mind, we will work with you to refine this during the start of the programme. Developing a relevant and appropriate Organisation Impact Project will greatly increase the value of the programme to you and your organisation. We ask you to develop a discrete project that can be addressed within a six-month period and relates to the topics we are covering on the programme (see Purpose clarified, Purpose in action and Purpose amplified on page 2). If you have a critical issue outside of these areas, we can help you think about how best to work on it as a part of the programme. You will focus on your Organisation Impact Project during the first residential and with your learning group during the half-day working sessions. You, your senior team and board chair will also dedicate a full day to the Organisation Impact Project during Month 4. For this, we will help you find an expert who can help you tackle your particular challenge. At the final residential offsite, you will present the results of your Organisation Impact Project, as well as your reflections on the process of transformation.

Like the overall programme, the Organisation Impact Project should help you move from focusing on urgent, shortterm issues and give you the impetus to engage with what will create long-term success for you and your organisation.
Senior team and board chair involvement Senior team and board chair involvement begins at the application stage. We will ask you, a member of your senior team who you designate, and your board chair to outline a critical opportunity or challenge in your organisation and how participating in the CEO Programme will enable you to address it. You will further involve your senior team and board chair via monthly emails providing articles and videos we’ll put together for you that relate to the programme’s content. We hope you will supplement these emails with your reflections on your learning and progress on the Organisation Impact Project. As well as involving your senior team and chair in the full day working session, your board chair will participate in our one day governance session. You will explore common board challenges by taking part in a simulated board meeting of a purpose-led organisation. The day will be facilitated by governance experts, and experienced board executives.
Learning focus: real-world and interactive Executive On Purpose’s CEO Programme is fortunate to work with a growing community of committed strategic partners and faculty members. This list is continually expanding, and we have already confirmed as strategic partners: The Centerbridge Foundation, McKinsey & Company, ghSMART & Company and Bridges Ventures. Faculty members include Alan Foster (ghSMART & Company), Kanada Gorla (SHINE in changing times), Terri McBride (Bridger Ridge Consulting), and Martin Sandbrook (The Schumacher Institute). The programme is designed by Terri McBride and Tom Rippin and brings together real-world business and organisation learning with deeply engaging personal growth, rooted in a foundation of purpose-driven leadership.
Beyond the programme After the programme concludes, you will remain a member of the On Purpose community. On Purpose already has an active community of over 200 Fellows and hundreds of trainers, mentors, coaches and social enterprise professionals across the UK, France and Germany. We expect the CEO community to grow quickly and to become international over the next years as well.
Finally, a senior team representative or board chair can join you on Day 1 of the last residential, when you will present the outcome of and learnings from your Organisation Impact Project.
