BSC ExpO 2022 GUIDE BSC Expo returns... a welcome recurring sequel in the cinematic calendar
A
fter narrowly escaping the lockdown window in 2020 - if only we had known that the world was to be enveloped in stasis - Europe’s premier cinematography exhibition is back with a bang. The BSC Expo returns, fresh-faced and fancy-free, to Battersea Evolution on the 8th and 9th April.
It is a great privilege to share the exhibition space again, to meet and greet old friends, to forge new relationships and to be introduced to new equipment and technologies that will soon be ubiquitous on film sets across the world. In this preview guide - published alongside British Cinematographer’s March issue - we take an advanced look at the Expo and profile the exhibitors that grace the halls with their innovation, craft, and dogged dedication to cinematographic excellence. Alongside the technology, we also highlight the human element behind the industry. Join us at the Talent Bar to engage with the future generation of filmmakers, or in the Seminar room where our panels discuss cinematographic issues of the day and pick up a copy of the freshly printed BSC book where Phil Méheux BSC and James Friend ASC BSC celebrate the 73 years of BSC cinematic output. For those who are unable to attend in person, we will be live streaming the Seminar room, and equipment highlights will be available on the British Cinematographer BCinePlayer video-on-demand platform, as well as in future issues. The media partnership that connects the BSC, the Expo, and British Cinematographer magazine is a creative alliance that aims to inspire, inform, and educate at every level of the cinematographic craft. Since the invention of cinema, technical innovation and the creativity of humans have travelled hand-in-hand, equipment and the filmmaking community have globalised, cinema has eroded borders and championed causes. Long may the (r)evolution continue. Christopher Ross BSC BSC President
