On September 28, University of Arizona President Ann Weaver Hart announced that Oro Valley would be the new home for the UA’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree program. The campus will also support a new UA initiative tied to One Health, a worldwide effort to address disease threats to humans and animals simultaneously and improve the health for both populations.

Oro Valley has already become a hub for bioscience, with companies like Ventana-Roche, Sanofi and LCMS. The University of Arizona Oro Valley and the One Health movement will strengthen that reputation and advance us toward our goal of becoming a global hub for the intersection of bioscience and information technology.

Giovanni Rizza is a native of Sicily who emigrated to America in 1967. He’s brought a taste of Italy—in the form of brilliantly-flavored gelato, not to mention modernist Italian design and display—to Oro Valley. Giovanni and his wife Agnieszla have opened Giovanni’s Gelato Café on Oracle Road.

The EPA can assess the number of people potentially being exposed and provide an estimate of the levels of that exposure. These data serve as a primary source of occurrence and exposure information that the agency uses to develop regulatory decisions.

Assessment monitoring includes all public water systems serving more than 10,000 people and 800 representative systems serving 10,000 or fewer people. These systems will monitor for 21 chemicals during a 12-month period. The Oro Valley Water Utility completed this required monitoring in 2015. The water samples are currently being analyzed by Eurofins-Eaton Analytical laboratory in South Bend, Indiana. Oro Valley Water Utility will provide the water quality monitoring data to its customers in our annual Consumer Confidence Report. This report includes both regulated and unregulated contaminants detected in 2015.
