It’s monsoon season (again)!
ORO VALLEY MAYOR & COUNCIL Joe Winfield, Mayor Melanie Barrett, Vice Mayor Joyce Jones-Ivey, Councilmember Josh Nicolson, Councilmember Rhonda Piña, Councilmember Bill Rodman, Councilmember Steve Solomon, Councilmember For Mayor and Councilmembers, call: (520) 229-4700 council@orovalleyaz.gov Town Manager Mary Jacobs (520) 229-4725
Monsoon season is officially here, and we need your help to make sure the Town of Oro Valley stays safe and clean. If you see any water quality or flooding issues, please contact the Stormwater Utility via phone at 520-229-4816 or email at stwov@orovalleyaz.gov. And while you’re out there driving, don’t forget to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.” Stay safe on the streets and make sure you and your family are prepared. The Town of Oro Valley has a “Monsoon Preparedness Guide” at www.orovalleyaz.gov. Just type the word “monsoon” into the search bar.
Got sandbags? In anticipation of the monsoons, the Town of Oro Valley will once again provide free sand and bags for residents at Naranja Park (810 N. Naranja Drive) just north of the archery range. Sandbags will be self-service, which means the sand piles and bags will be available, and residents are welcome to fill and transport their own bags. Please note this offer is limited to Oro Valley residents only, and 10 bags will be allowed per vehicle. Shovels will not be provided; please bring your own. Sand and bags will be available through the end of September, or until the rain ends. If you have any questions about this program or if you need ADA assistance, please call Jessica Hynd at 520-229-4711.

Town Manager Mary Jacobs is pictured above with Traffic Signs/Marking Technician Matt Rios. The Town of Oro Valley’s Public Works Department encompasses many divisions that provide important services to our residents. Recently, Oro Valley Town Manager Mary Jacobs performed a site visit with a few members of the Engineering Division who were working on road signage, pavement markings and pavement preservation. If you’ve ever wondered why Oro Valley has the best roads in the region, it is because your Town Council has been diligent about funding proactive maintenance, and it is because of the talented men and women in the Town’s Engineering Division who are out in the field every day, making sure the work is performed at the level of excellence our community expects. To learn more about the services and expertise of this division, visit orovalleyaz.gov and type “Engineering Division” into the search bar.
