Following the Bighorn Fire of 2020, increased sediment has decreased the wash’s capacity. This project aims to restore capacity and enhance flood protection for homes and businesses in the area. It is funded by a Pima County tax levy and a $2.5 million FEMA grant.
In addition to Loop trail closures, residents can also expect to see temporary disturbances in the wash including tree clearings and debris removal.
