INPUT

What’s next for the Community Center? Oro Valley Town Manager Mary Jacobs has presented a preliminary plan to decrease operating costs, increase revenue, and invest in much-needed capital improvements at the Oro Valley Community Center. Plan highlights include:

ORO VALLEY MAYOR & COUNCIL Dr. Satish I. Hiremath, Mayor Lou Waters, Vice Mayor Joe Hornat, Councilmember Rhonda Piña, Councilmember Bill Rodman, Councilmember Mary Snider, Councilmember Steve Solomon, Councilmember For Mayor and Councilmembers, call: (520) 229-4700 council@orovalleyaz.gov Town Manager Mary Jacobs (520) 229-4725 mjacobs@orovalleyaz.gov

Golf course turf reduction on the two 18-hole courses, and replacement of their irrigation systems;

Plans for the Town to cease operating the nine-hole Pusch Ridge Golf Course near the Hilton Resort (the Town will explore opportunities to transition course operations to the Hilton Resort or develop a plan, in partnership with resort owner HSL and the adjacent HOA for alternate uses of the course);

Moving food and beverage operations to the downstairs café area, which will be reconfigured to an open kitchen/bar and grill with a limited menu.

Reconfiguring the upstairs restaurant space to expand the facility’s fitness areas and program offerings, which are approaching capacity.

All told, the Town projects that these improvements and adjustments would result in annual savings or revenue increases of $400,000 within two years following full implementation of these capital improvements. Details and a timeframe for plan implementation will be established and approved during the FY 18/19 budget process, which is currently underway. Learn more about the preliminary plan at www.orovalleyaz.gov.

Community input on the FY 18/19 budget As part of its FY 18/19 budget process, the Town of Oro Valley opened an online survey Jan. 29 – Feb. 9 to find out what the community’s priorities are. If you didn’t get a chance to participate in the survey, you still have two opportunities to share your feedback at Public Hearings on the FY 18/19 budget. Hearings are held at Oro Valley Town Hall Council Chambers at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16 and Wednesday, June 6. Can’t fit a meeting into your schedule but still want to provide your input? You can always send your comments or questions to ask@orovalleyaz.gov.
