Council adopts Strategic Leadership Plan The Oro Valley Town Council set in motion the Town’s strategy for the next two fiscal years at its March 20 Town Council meeting. The adoption of the Council Strategic Leadership Plan for fiscal years 2019/20 through 2020/21 caps a fourmonth process that began in December 2018 and included input from the community, Town Council and Town staff. The plan provides organizational direction in the areas of: economic vitality; culture and recreation; public safety; roads, water and Town assets; land use; effective and efficient government; and Town finances. Pool supervision saves lives! A message from our friends at the Golder Ranch Fire District The following tips will help keep you and your loved ones safe while swimming this summer. • • • •
Never swim alone. Always use the buddy system regardless of age. Stay hydrated while swimming and take frequent breaks to get out of direct sunlight. Prevent injuries by avoiding “horse play” and running around the pool area. At gatherings, designate a “Water Watcher” whose responsibility is to monitor the pool and be prepared for an emergency. The Water Watcher should be an adult who is not engaged in conversation, eating or drinking alcohol. Watchers should take turns with other adults in 20-30 minute intervals. • When it’s time to get out of the pool, ensure the pool gates are closed and secured, and check that all swimmers are accounted for and out of the pool area. Your government @ work The Town of Oro Valley’s Public Works Department is closely monitoring the progress of the La Cholla Boulevard Phase II Project, which has been underway since the fall of 2018 and is scheduled for completion in late summer 2020. The early work on this project included the removal and relocation of utility lines. La Cholla is a demanding but necessary project, which means there will be lane restrictions and detours at various times. The intersections of La Cholla Blvd./Naranja Drive and La Cholla Blvd./Lambert Lane will be particularly challenging, but rest assured that our engineers, project managers, traffic controllers, and police department are doing their best to ensure our residents and visitors can safely travel to their destination. For the safety of everyone, please take great care to obey posted speed limits, and if possible, seek alternate routes. To learn more about this project, visit https://lachollaimprovements.info.
