Don’t miss one of the largest holiday-themed celebrations in Southern Arizona! The 2017 Oro Valley Festival of the Arts and Tree Lighting Celebration will be held December 2 and 3 at the Oro Valley Marketplace, 12155 N. Oracle Road. This year’s event is sponsored by Pima Federal Credit Union and presented by the Town of Oro Valley and the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance. At Tohono Chul, where nature, culture and art are fused, you can find something different every day. That’s part of its worldrenown appeal, according to Executive Director Christine Conte, PhD. To wit, along Tohono Chul’s 47-acre corner of the Sonoran Desert, there are gentle trails, a rich diversity of wildlife, inspirational messages carved in stone and an array of saguaro, barrel cactus, ocotillo, palm and oak, each with a seasonal rhythm. “There’s something in bloom here almost all the time,” said Conte. In Tohono Chul’s four galleries and three gift shops, you can gaze at art, jewelry, pottery and native gifts. Its commercial greenhouse sells plants adapted to the desert. In the Bistro, you’ll find fresh and colorful garden-to-table creations. There are celebrations, workshops, concerts, weddings, and the sparkle of holiday lights the first three Fridays and Saturdays in December. Come for 20 minutes, two hours or two days.
