On September 18, construction of a roundabout will begin at the intersection of Moore Road and La Cañada Drive to improve safety and traffic flow. Work will be performed by Borderland Construction, and is expected to be complete by November 22 (weather permitting). Extensive consideration was given to the timing of this project. The Town has opted for a shorter, two-month timeline so that construction is completed more quickly and before the holidays, rather than selecting an extended, five-month timeline with partial closures. The tradeoff to a shorter timeline, however, means the entire intersection will be completely closed to traffic, and drivers will be detoured through alternative routes. For complete details on this closure, including a map of detour routes, please visit www.orovalleyaz.gov. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve Oro Valley’s roadways. For questions, please contact us at ask@orovalleyaz.gov.

Your government @ work: Transit Division Reliable and convenient transportation options are an important part of Oro Valley’s quality of life. That is why the Town’s Transit Services Division staff continually works to improve the services they provide. Over the past five years, significant improvements have been made in the areas of safety, ticketing, equipment, efficiency and customer service. Some examples include: installed in-vehicle security cameras, implemented online reservations, converted to 100% voucherless fares and lowered the fleet’s average vehicle age from 10+ to 3.5 years old. Additionally, as a result of customer feedback, the Transit Division improved their rider scheduling, decreased cost per hour and decreased cost per mile. All of this was accomplished while increasing the number of annual trips by over 10,000 with the same number of drivers and high level of service. If you have ever used Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride, thank you for traveling with us! And if you haven’t traveled with us before, we invite you to check us out!
