Artistically, 2015 was an exciting year with a very successful fall/winter Concert Series, an inspiring 15-day festival and an education and outreach program that captivated new audiences. We are extremely proud of the diverse and inspired programming presented throughout the year by the Society and pleased that attendance continues to grow. The achievements of this organization are the results of the combined efforts of many individuals. We are grateful for the ongoing commitment of our sponsors, donors, funders and staff and the loyalty of our members and volunteers. Your support allows us to continue to enhance the artistic and educational experiences within our great city. 2015/16 was an administrative transition year that commenced with a sense of great optimism and opportunity. New approaches and ideas were welcomed and produced successful results on some fronts but not others. Although our efforts to nurture organizational growth and broaden our support base did not always produce strong results, the process provided new knowledge and mission clarity that will yield benefits in the longer term.
The financial results for 2015 were disappointing. As a result, the Board has restructured OCMS management and administration. In doing so the Board has reviewed and tightened expenditures and looked for ways to reduce management and administrative expenses. Significant effort has been directed to examining the roles of Executive Director and Artistic Director. The commitment of Roman Borys to expanding his role as Artistic Director to encompass some of the duties formerly the responsibility of the Executive Director, fits extremely well with his skills and the vision he shares with the Board for the future of OCMS. With the Artistic Director as the leader of the organization, the Board has eliminated the position of Executive Director and in its place provided for a General Manager who will report to the Artistic Director as CEO of the organization. Cette remarquable réussite est le fruit des efforts conjugués de nombreuses personnes. Nous exprimons toute notre gratitude – pour leur engagement continu – à nos commanditaires, nos donateurs, nos bailleurs de fonds et remercions tous nos membres et nos bénévoles pour leur fidélité. Votre soutien nous permet de mettre en exergue les expériences à la fois artistiques et éducatives au sein de notre grande cité. La saison 2015-2016 a été une année de transition administrative et a été placée sous les auspices de l’optimisme et des opportunités. De nouvelles approches et d’autres idées qui ont été lancées ont été bien accueillies. Certaines d’entre elles ont été couronnées de succès d’autres n’ont pas abouti. Bien que nos efforts pour nourrir l’organisation ne produisent pas toujours des résultats solides, le processus a permis d’acquérir de nouvelles connaissances et de redéfinir la mission, processus dont on tirera des avantages à plus long terme.

En nommant le directeur artistique leader de l’organisation, le conseil d’administration a supprimé le poste de directeur exécutif et a prévu de le remplacer par un poste de directeur général qui relèvera du directeur artistique en tant que présidentdirecteur général de l’organisation.

The Ottawa Chamber Music Society’s 201415 season was enthusiastically received by audiences, performers and critics alike. The Society’s core activity – the production of live music concert experiences that celebrate the art of the small ensemble – engaged, inspired and transformed everyone involved. From this perspective it was a very rewarding year. Having found its place in the Ottawa fall/winter concert schedule, the OCMS 2014-15 Concert Series hit its stride and revealed its capacity to self-sustain. Many seasons of patient cultivation finally came to fruition. Europe’s celebrated Quatuor Mosaïques graced our stage for the first time while hometown favorite Angela Hewitt made a triumphant return. Marc André Hamelin joined forces with Les Violons du Roy while the King’s Singers brilliantly set the tone for the holiday season. The Alcan Quartet reinforced our core stream programming while the Salzburg Marionettes and pianist Orion Weiss introduced a theatrical dimension. Four of the six concerts were sold out and ticket sales were more than 50 per cent higher than the previous year. The thematic moniker re:generations served as the programmatic filter for Chamberfest 2015 and created opportunity for new talent, new directions, commissions and collaborations. The 15-day festival offered a balance of programming featuring elements from each of our six main programming streams – early music, core chamber, solo
vocal/instrumental, new music, Chamberfringe and education/outreach programming. Geoff Nuttall’s Haydnfest commentary illuminated the genius of Joseph Haydn while Rob Kapilow and Robert Harris provided in-depth context. Theatrical presentations such as Illusions, Spell to Bring Lost Creatures Home, Kid Koala/ Afiara Quartet’s Nufonia Must Fall Live! (voted Ottawa’s best live show in 2015 and coming out ahead of mega rock group AC/DC) and Against The Grain’s #UncleJohn broadened our artistic scope and demographic reach. Our 2014-15 education and outreach initiatives were enriched with the launch of the City Series. Offered free of charge, this six-concert series took place in Ottawa City Hall and Gatineau City Hall (Galerie Montcalm) and featured performances by a wide range of professional and student groups. Together with our new French language website, the City Series contributed to our efforts to build our Francophone following.

La saison 2014-2015 de la Société de musique de chambre d’Ottawa a suscité à la fois l’enthousiasme des spectateurs, des interprètes et de la critique. L’activité principale de la SMCO – la production de concerts en direct qui célèbre le talent des petits ensembles – a engagé, inspiré et métamorphosé tous les participants. De ce point de vue, cette saison a été très gratifiante.
La thématique re:generations, de Chamberfest 2015 a donné la possibilité de voir émerger de nouveaux talents, de choisir de nouvelles orientations et de bénéficier de nouvelles commandes et d’autres collaborations. Le festival de deux semaines a offert une collaboration équilibrée en mettant en vedette des composantes de chacun des principaux volets de notre programmation – musique ancienne, musique de chambre, solos vocaux et instrumentaux, musique nouvelle, Chamberfringe et programmes d’éducation et de sensibilisation. Le violoniste et animateur Geoff Nuttall, à l’occasion du Festival Haydn, a su mettre en lumière le génie de Joseph Haydn tandis que Rob Kapilow et Robert Harris ont fourni un contexte en profondeur. Les représentations théâtrales telles que Illusions, Spell to Bring Lost Creatures Home, Nufonia Must Fall Live! œuvre interprétée par
Kid Koala et le Quatuor Afiara (élu meilleur spectacle en direct d’Ottawa de l’année 2015 et devançant notamment le groupe de hard rock AC/DC) et #UncleJohn, présenté par le Against the Grain Theater, ont élargi nos horizons artistiques et étendu notre envergure démographique. Nos activités, en 2014-2015, liées à l’éducation et à la sensibilisation se sont en outre enrichies avec le lancement de la série Chamberfest dans la cité. Offerte gratuitement, cette série de six concerts a tenu l’affiche de l’hôtel de ville d’Ottawa et de l’hôtel de ville de Gatineau (à la Galerie Montcalm) a proposé des représentations mettant en vedette et des ensembles professionnels et des ensembles étudiants. Grâce à notre nouveau site web de langue française, la série Chamberfest dans la cité a contribué à poursuivre nos efforts pour nous attacher notre clientèle francophone. Après avoir reçu des commentaires très positifs de nos trois principaux bailleurs de fonds et faisant suite à l’envergure et à la qualité de la programmation de Chamberfest 2015, la SMCO est bien décidée à utiliser ce format élargi du festival d’été afin de continuer à remplir son mandat. Cela dit, certains rajustements de nos priorités et de nos ressources nous permettront de donner plus d’ampleur à notre série de concerts et à nos programmes éducatifs appelés à revêtir de plus en plus d’importance. Ainsi, nous serons encore plus à même d’accroître nos auditoires, de soutenir les artistes, d’attirer des commanditaires et de parfaire le paysage culturel d’Ottawa pour les années à venir et de façon durable. Inscrite dans la programmation de concerts automne-hiver d’Ottawa, la Série de concerts de la saison 2014-2015 de la SMCO a pris son envol et à démontré sa capacité à se suffire à elle-même. Cette réussite s’est façonnée saison après saison. Nous avons eu le bonheur d’accueillir pour la première fois le fameux Quatuor Mosaïques tandis que notre gloire locale, Angela Hewitt, a fait un retour triomphal. Marc André Hamelin a prêté son merveilleux talent aux Violons du Roy alors que les King’s Singers donnaient brillamment le ton pour la saison des fêtes. Le Quatuor Alcan a encore ajouté un fleuron à notre programmation artistique tandis que Les marionnettes de Salzbourg et le pianiste Orion Weiss ont ajouté une dimension théâtrale. Quatre des six concerts ont affiché complet et la vente des billets a connu une augmentation de 50 pour cent par rapport à l’année dernière.

The 2014-2015 Concert Series was particularly successful, with a 50% year-over-year increase in ticket sales and four of six concerts sold out. Presenting concerts that reflect the OCMS’ six streams of programming, the Concert Series opened with the renowned Quatuor Mosaïques, delighted audiences with a multidisciplinary performance by Salzburg Marionette Theatre with pianist Orion Weiss, and continued to impress with an intimate yet sold out holiday performance by the King’s Singers. In the New Year, Ottawa legend Angela Hewitt performed for a captivated, full house. The Alcan Quartet and Les Violons du Roy with Marc-André Hamelin rounded out the Concert Series, leaving our audiences with great anticipation for the summer festival. La série de concerts de la saison 2014-2015 a été un franc succès. En effet, la vente des billets a connu une augmentation d’année en année de 50% et quatre des six concerts se sont déroulés à guichets fermés. En présentant des concerts qui reflètent les six composantes de la programmation de la SMCO, la série de concerts a été inaugurée par le fameux Quatuor Mosaïques qui a enchanté les spectateurs en offrant un spectacle multidisciplinaire aux côtés des Marionnettes de Salzbourg et du pianiste Orion Weiss et s’est poursuivie par une remarquable prestation – à guichets fermés – des King’s Singers. Au nouvel an, la légende d’Ottawa, Angela Hewitt, a subjugué l’auditoire, se produisant devant une salle comble. Le Quatuor Alcan et Les Violons du Roy, aux côtés de Marc-André Hamelin, ont clos la série de concerts et donné assurément l’envie au public de revenir au prochain festival.

Depuis son avènement, Chamberfringe suscite un énorme engouement parmi les anciens spectateurs, qui n’ont de cesse de revenir, et les nouveaux. Cette saison, la SMCO a présenté quelques-uns des artistes les plus remarquables du monde et notamment Rebecca Caine, Dinuk Wijeratne et Kinan Azmeh sans omettre le Quatuor Danois qui a conclu la série en obtenant de multiples rappels. THEATRICAL EVENTS ÉVÉNEMENTS THÉÂTRAUX Chamberfest continually seeks to push the boundaries of chamber music. This year’s edition was no exception and included Nufonia Must Fall Live, Illusions, Spell to Bring Lost Creatures Home, and #UncleJohn. These artistic collaborations still revolved around the concept of chamber music, but by incorporating artists of different fields, such as visual arts, theatre arts, videography, animation, and more, our patrons were able to partake in a multidisciplinary experience. Against the Grain Theatre’s #UncleJohn, transformed the opera genre to an intimate and immersive experience that was extremely well received and Nufonia Must Fall Live was voted Ottawa’s top live performance of 2015. Chamberfest cherche continuellement à repousser les limites de la musique de chambre. L’édition de cette année n’a pas fait exception avec en particulier les spectacles Nufonia Must Fall Live, Illusions, Spell to Bring Lost Creatures Home, et #UncleJohn. Ces collaborations artistiques tournent toujours autour du concept de la musique de chambre mais y intègrent des artistes de différents domaines tels que les arts visuels, les arts de la scène, la vidéographie, l’animation pour ne citer que ceux-là. Les spectateurs ont eu ainsi le loisir de participer à une captivante expérience multidisciplinaire. #Uncle John, présenté par le Against the Grain Theatre a transformé le genre lyrique en une expérience à la fois intime et immersive fort bien reçue par le public, tandis que Nufonia Must Fall Live a été nommé meilleur spectacle en direct d’Ottawa de l’année 2015.
HAYDNFEST Widely recognized as the Father of the String Quartet, Haydn’s work was truly revolutionary. The goal with Haydnfest was to reveal the way in which Haydn’s chamber music contributions served as the foundation for the entire core chamber music canon (Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary). Working with Geoff Nuttall, the OCMS artistic team assembled a broad selection of well known and lesser known middle-period works that collectively broadened our audiences’ perception of Haydn. Haydnfest featured 13 events, including Rob Kapilow’s insightful lectures, and mini-marathon concerts hosted by Geoff Nuttall. The OCMS assembled a very exciting roster of six string quartets (St. Lawrence, Calidore, Afiara, Cecilia, Danel and Eybler) that performed 25 of Haydn’s string quartets. The scope of Haydnfest was further broadened by a commissioned string quartet composed by Canadian Jordan Pal. FESTIVAL HAYDN Largement considéré comme le père du quatuor à cordes, Haydn a manifestement révolutionné ce type de musique. Le Festival a eu pour vocation de révéler à quel point l’apport musical du compositeur a été essentiel pour l’ensemble de la musique de chambre (classique, romantique et contemporaine). De concert avec Geoff Nuttall, l’équipe artistique de la SMCO a porté son choix sur un certain nombre de compositions connues et moins connues de la période médiane du musicien permettant de mieux appréhender ce genre musical. Le Festival Haydn a mis à l’affiche 13 événements dont les conférences instructives de Rob Kapilow et les mini-marathons de concerts animés par Geoff Nuttall. La SMCO a accueilli six quatuors à cordes de grande renommée (St.Lawrence, Calidore, Afiara, Cecilia, Danel Eybler) qui ont interprété 25 quatuors à cordes de Haydn. La portée du Festival Haydn a pris encore une dimension supplémentaire avec la commande d’un Quatuor à cordes faite au compositeur canadien Jordan Pal.

CHAMBERFRINGE Since its inception, Chamberfringe has developed into a major draw for both returning patrons and new audience members. This year, the OCMS featured some incredible artists from around the globe, including the stunning Rebecca Caine, the imaginative Dinuk Wijeratne and Kinan Azmeh, and the Danish Quartet that closed the series with multiple encores.

This season’s Chamberfest was a unique year for OCMS commissions. Individual patrons raised the bar to show their support for Canadian composers and the OCMS partnered with composer Jordan Pal in a successful Ontario Arts Council commissioning grant. With these contributions, the OCMS was able to commission works by prominent Canadian composers Jordan Pal and Kelly-Marie Murphy. In addition to these new works, the OCMS contributed to the premiers of over fifteen compositions through its New Music Now series and other concerts throughout the festival. En ce qui a trait aux commandes de la SMCO, la saison 2015 de Chamberfest a été en tout point remarquable. Des mécènes individuels ont placé haut la barre pour montrer leur soutien aux compositeurs canadiens et au partenariat de la SMCO avec le compositeur Jordan Pal, ce qui a incité le Conseil des Arts de l’Ontario à accorder une bourse au musicien. Grâce à ces contributions, la SMCO a été à même de commander des œuvres aux éminents compositeurs canadiens Jordan Pal et Kelly-Marie Murphy. Outre ces nouvelles œuvres, la SMCO a contribué à créer plus de quinze compositions lors de sa série Nouvelle musique et par le biais d’autres concerts présentés au cours du festival.

COLLABORATION ET VISION LIÉE À L’AUGMENTATION DE LA COLLECTE DE FONDS La SMCO est honorée de bénéficier du généreux et constant soutien des leaders visionnaires de notre collectivité. En 2015, la SMCO a reçu 1,55 million de dollars de la part de donateurs individuels, d’entreprises locales, de fondations privées, de sociétés commanditaires, de revenus provenant de fonds de dotation et s’est vu également attribuer des subventions gouvernementales et des contributions en nature. Ces financements divers ont joué un rôle essentiel dans la qualité artistique et l’originalité des spectacles (en plus des engagements communautaires de la SMCO), offerts tout au long de l’année 2015, dans le cadre de Chamberfest, de la Série de concerts, de la série Chamberfest dans la cité. Le comité du développement de la SMCO a été très efficace cette année. En travaillant en collaboration avec le personnel de la SMCO, les dévoués membres du comité ont permis de solliciter l’appui financier des chefs d’entreprise et des leaders de la collectivité. Le résultat : réseaux élargis et financement diversifié de sociétés commanditaires. Près de 65% des commandites d’entreprises sont provenues de nouvelles sources en 2015.
INDIVIDUAL DONOR SUPPORT APPUI DES DONATEURS INDIVIDUELS In 2015 individuals told us about the Chamberfest activities they cared about most and made significant financial contributions to support them. The OCMS was the appreciative beneficiary of donations that helped us present diverse and exciting artists from around the world on various Chamberfest stages throughout the year. From the world premieres of two commissions by Canadian composers, to four theatrically inspired productions which added striking visual elements to the chamber music experience, donors invested in unique, communal and cultural experiences that we all enjoyed and will remember for years to come. En 2015, des particuliers nous ont dit combien le festival Chamberfest leur tenait à cœur et ont donc versé des contributions financières importantes. La SMCO est reconnaissant envers tous ces donateurs qui ont permis de mettre à l’affiche des scènes de Chamberfest et ce, tout au long de l’année, divers et talentueux artistes venus du monde entier. Des premières mondiales de deux œuvres commandées à des compositeurs canadiens jusqu’aux quatre productions théâtrales particulièrement inspirées, et qui comportaient des éléments visuels saisissants, les donateurs ont investi dans des expériences uniques, communes et culturelles enthousiasmantes et dont on se souviendra longtemps.
DEVELOPMENT DÉVELOPPEMENT
The OCMS Development Committee was very strong this year. Working in partnership with OCMS staff, dedicated committee members helped identify, introduce and solicit financial support from corporate and community leaders. The result: broadened networks and diversified funding from corporate sponsors. Nearly 65% of corporate sponsorships came from new sources in 2015.

COLLABORATION AND VISION SUPPORT FUNDRAISING GROWTH The OCMS is honoured to have the generous, steady support of visionary leaders in our community. In 2015 the OCMS raised a total of $1.55 million from individual donors, local businesses, private foundations, corporate sponsors, income from endowment funds, government funding and in-kind contributions. This diverse funding supported the artistic excellence and innovative presentations that Chamberfest, the Concert Series, the Chamberfest City Series, and other OCMS-led community engagement projects exhibited throughout 2015.

MASTER CLASSES COURS DE MAÎTRES On January 15, 2015 the OCMS presented a piano master class featuring Angela Hewitt in conjunction with Ms. Hewitt’s Concert Series performance the previous evening. The OCMS engaged three aspiring local pianists (Haotian Yu, Echo Lau and Christopher Goddard) to participate. OCMS donors and Friends of the Trasimeno Music Festival attended the event at Dominion-Chalmers United Church. On February 13, 2015 the Alcan Quartet conducted a master class with string students at Ottawa’s École secondaire publique De La Salle. This activity was borne out of a successful partnership the OCMS has with De La Salle’s Centre d’Excellence des Arts. Le 15 janvier 2015, la SMCO a présenté un cours de maître de piano mettant en vedette Angela Hewitt conjointement avec le concert offert par la pianiste le soir précédant. La SMCO a invité trois aspirants pianistes de la région (Haotian Yu, Echo Lau et Christopher Goddard) à participer à cet atelier. Les donateurs de la SMCO et les Amis du festival de musique Trasimène ont assisté à cet événement à l’Église Unie Dominion-Chalmers. Le 13 février 2015, le Quatuor Alcan a offert un cours de maître à de jeunes instrumentistes à cordes à l’École secondaire publique De La Salle. Cette activité est le fruit d’un partenariat réussi entre la SMCO et le Centre d’Excellence artistique de De La Salle. CUALL CHAMBER CHAT PARLONS MUSIQUE DE CHAMBRE ET CUALL On March 7 the OCMS partnered with the Carleton University Association of Life-long Learners (CUALL) to present an expanded format Chamber Chat, featuring Ann Monoyios on the subject of Early Music, for their membership. The attendees gained insights about the content of the Concert Series event held that evening – Les Violons du Roy with Marc Andre Hamelin. Building on the success of the Chamber Chat series during our summer music festival and the Concert Series, the OCMS is reaching out to audiences interested in life-long learning to engage them in our programming and education activities.
Le 7 mars, la SMCO a collaboré avec la Carleton University Association of Life-long Learners (l’Association de l’Université Carleton pour l’éducation permanente) pour présenter à ses membres un format élargi de la série Parlons musique de chambre mettant en vedette Ann Monoyios et accordant une importance particulière à la musique ancienne. Les participants ont eu ainsi un excellent aperçu du contenu de l’événement offert ce soir-là dans le cadre de la Série de concerts – Les Violons du Roy et Marc-André Hamelin. En misant sur le succès de la série Parlons musique de chambre lors du festival estival de musique et de la Série de concerts, la SMCO cherche à atteindre les spectateurs intéressés par l’éducation permanente en vue de les intégrer à notre programmation et aux activités éducatives. CHAMBERFEST CITY SERIES SÉRIE CHAMBERFEST DANS LA CITÉ Between April 1 and May 6, the OCMS undertook an ambitious new project in collaboration with the City of Ottawa called the Chamberfest City Series. This admission free series of six concerts at Ottawa City Hall featured celebrated local artists such as Carissa Klopoushak, Julia MacLaine, Jesse Stewart and Quatuor Despax. The events reached thousands of passersby, offering an intimate chamber music experience in a unique public setting. Entre le 1er avril et le 6 mai, la SMCO a mis sur pied un ambitieux projet en collaboration avec la ville d’Ottawa et intitulé Chamberfest dans la cité. Cette série de six concerts offerts gratuitement a mis en vedette de célèbres artistes locaux tels que Carissa Klopoushak, Julia MacLaine, Jesse Stewart et le Quatuor Despax. GROWLER SALON SALON GROWLER During Chamberfest 2015 the OCMS launched a new initiative called Growler Salon, a series of preconcert social gatherings featuring Beau’s beer, locally catered foods and a unique focus on a variety of Chamberfringe artists. The Growler Salons even included a post-concert event at De La Salle immediately following Kid Koala’s Nufonia Must Fall that continued into the wee hours of the morning with Kid scratching some encores for attendees. Au cours du festival de musique Chamberfest 2015, la SMCO a mis sur pied un nouvel événement appelé Salon Growler, une série de rencontres sociales mettant en évidence la bière de la brasserie Beau’s, des aliments produits localement tout en étant centrée sur une variété d’artistes de Chamberfringe. Le Salon Growler comprend même une représentation d’après-concert donné à De La Salle immédiatement suivie de Nufonia Must Fall de Kid Koala, spectacle qui s’est poursuivi jusqu’à l’aube à la suite de multiples rappels. OUTDOOR FREE PROGRAMMING CONCERTS OFFERTS À L’EXTÉRIEUR During Chamberfest 2015, the Boxcar Boys fulfilled the OCMS’ annual efforts to bring chamber music to unusual outdoor venues and by doing so, generate public interest in other festival events. This year, the outdoor presentations focused on Ottawa’s growing tradition of outdoor farmers’ and artisans’ markets: the ByWard Market, the Parkdale Market, Westboro Farmer’s Market, Main Farmer’s Market and Lansdowne Park. Toes tapped, families danced and ears were opened to the bevy of offerings by Chamberfest.
Durant Chamberfest 2015, les Boxcar Boys se sont attachés à donner des concerts dans des lieux extérieurs inhabituels et, ce faisant, ont suscité l’intérêt du public pour d’autres événements du festival. Cette année, les représentations en plein air ont mis l’accent sur la longue tradition des agriculteurs et des artisans des marchés d’Ottawa : le marché ByWard Market, le marché Parkdale, le marché fermier Westboro et le marché des producteurs fermiers au parc Lansdowne. ACE WORKSHOP 2015 ATELIER POUR LES EMCA 2015 Summer 2015 concluded the OCMS’ annual series of Amateur Chamber Ensemble (ACE) Workshops. In addition to chamber music coaching by some of the festival’s most popular artists (Gryphon Trio, Calidore Quartet, cellists Rachel Mercer and Yegor Dyachov, Trio Latitude 41, Jack Quartet, Cecilia String Quartet), eleven adult amateur chamber musicians participated in group sight-reading sessions, a festival recital, and other group activities. L’été 2015 a conclu la série annuelle des ateliers des Ensembles amateurs de musique de chambre de la SMCO. Outre la musique de chambre sublimée par quelques-uns des artistes les plus populaires du festival (le Trio Gryphon, le Quatuor Calidore, les violoncellistes Rachel Mercer et Yegor Dyachov, le Trio Latitude 41, le Quatuor Jack, le Quatuor à cordes Cecilia), onze musiciens de chambre amateurs, d’âge adulte, ont participé à des séances de lecture à vue, à un récital du festival ainsi qu’à d’autres activités de groupe.

BRING THE KIDS AMENEZ LES ENFANTS OCMS renewed its partnership with the Ottawa Art Gallery’s Art Tent program in 2015, to enhance the Bring the Kids family series during the summer festival. A new partnership with the City of Ottawa saw Bring the Kids events in the spectacular Jean Piggott Hall within City Hall. From a choreographed retelling of the Story of Babar, to the Afiara Quartet’s Hip Hop Haydn and storytelling from renowned ballerina Evelyn Hart, hundreds of young families experienced multi-disciplinary art forms within touching distance of the performers. La SMCO a renouvelé son partenariat avec le programme La Tente des arts de la Galerie d’art d’Ottawa de 2015 pour mettre encore en valeur la série familiale Amenez les enfants offerte durant le festival. Un nouveau partenariat avec la ville d’Ottawa a permis de mettre à l’affiche cet événement à l’hôtel de ville d’Ottawa, salle Jean Pigott. De L’histoire de Babar, chorégraphiée, au Hip Hop Haydn du Quatuor Afiara en passant par la narration de la fameuse ballerine Evelyn Hart, des centaines de jeunes enfants ont pu être ainsi exposés à des expériences artistiques multidisciplinaires.
CHAMBERFEST SHOPPE BOUTIQUE CHAMBERFEST Chamberfest 2015 saw a new feature at OCMS events: the Chamberfest Shoppe. After many years of subcontracting the sale of artist CDs and merchandise, these activities were brought in-house and managed by knowledgeable part-time sales staff, mostly music students. Significant efforts were made to increase the range and quantity of items available to festival audiences and those efforts were met with many positive comments and a 70 percent increase in sales from the 2014 festival. These efforts will continue through the Concert Series events and future editions of Chamberfest. At a time when recorded classical and related music is a challenge to find, the OCMS recognizes this service as vital to supporting artists and increasing general knowledge of chamber music. Le festival Chamberfest 2015 a ajouté une nouvelle composante aux événements de la SMCO: la Boutique Chamberfest. Après des années de sous-traitance liée à la vente de CD et d’articles, ces activités sont devenues des activités-maison et sont gérées par un personnel de vente à temps partiel, compétent, composé en majeure partie d’étudiants en musique. Des efforts importants ont été accomplis pour élargir la gamme et augmenter le nombre des articles mis à la disposition du public du festival. Ces efforts ont été couronnés de succès puisque l’on a enregistré une hausse de 70% des ventes par rapport au festival de 2014. On poursuivra ces efforts par l’entremise de la Série de concerts et des futures éditions de Chamberfest. À une époque où la musique classique enregistrée, et à tout ce qui s’apparente à elle, est un défi à relever, la SMCO pense que la Boutique Chamberfest est une composante essentielle du soutien des artistes et d’une meilleure connaissance de la musique de chambre.

Community support through contributions of in-kind goods and services were higher than ever in 2015, while government support at all levels represented 43 percent of total revenues: an ongoing, strong indicator of Chamberfest’s unique role in the cultural life of the province and the country. OCMS managed expenses in such a way that administration, marketing, and development received commensurate levels of investment as those for artistic programming and production support. These included targeted investments in broadcast advertising, public relations, and development to attract new individual donors and corporate partners. Le soutien de la collectivité, via des contributions de biens et services en nature, a été plus élevé que jamais en 2015, tandis que l’appui du gouvernement – à tous les niveaux – a représenté 43 pour cent du total des revenus : un indicateur fort, continu, du rôle unique de Chamberfest dans la vie culturelle de la province et du pays. The Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival is the world’s largest event of its kind.
