notes from the SUPERVISOR’S OFFICE 5209 Western Ave, Guilderland • (518) 356-1980 • www.townofguilderland.org

Guilderland, NY- I think that it has been a pretty average winter so far. Some awfully cold days, but not too terribly many. Snow, but no big storms, at least not yet. Yes, I’d call this a pretty typical Capital District winter, and I for one would certainly not mind if it stayed this way for the rest of the season. I suspect that a great many of my fellow Guilderland residents feel pretty much the same way at this time of year. Even in the depths of winter, many of our residents bundle up and take advantage of the recreational opportunities we offer in Guilderland’s Town Park system. Cross-country skiers can be found on the un-groomed trails in Tawasentha Park, or on the groomed trails at Western Turnpike Golf Course. Snowshoers are regularly seen on the trails in Tawasentha Park, and the sledding hill in the Winter Recreation area is a popular destination after each fresh snowfall. A limited amount of rental equipment is available at the Parks and Recreation Department office on Route 146 near the Tawasentha Park entrance. Check the Town website or call the Parks Department at 456-3150 to ask about what particular opportunities may be available on any given day. A little exercise for your dog may be in order as well on a sunny winter day. If this seems like a good idea, visit the Guilderland Dog Park, a one-acre fenced facility located at Nott Road Park, where your dog is free to roam off-leash. Use of this facility requires that your dog have a current license, including required shots, and that you display a dog park tag, which can be obtained from the Town Clerk’s office for a $5.00 fee. The tag is valid for a period of one year, the same period that your dog license runs for. I may be getting a little ahead of myself, but I would like to remind our residents that there will be sidewalk installation projects taking place in two parts of town starting with the arrival of warmer weather. Sidewalks were installed last year along the north side of Western Avenue to fill in all of the gaps from the Albany city line going west to Route 155. This year, the same in-fill construction will take place on the south side of Western Avenue. This project is being supervised by the New

York State Department of Transportation, using grant funds secured by both the Department and the Town of Guilderland. Meanwhile, sidewalks will be installed in the hamlet of Guilderland Center as part of a Town-supervised project using federal highway grant funds obtained from a program managed by the Capital District Transportation Committee. Based on the level of usage of the new sidewalks installed on Western Avenue last year, I believe that residents will be pleased with these new amenities. The Town of Guilderland is in the process of working with consultants on a planning study of the Westmere Corridor, the section of Western Avenue between the Northway and Route 155. This project is primarily funded through a Linkage Program Grant provided by the Capital District Transportation Committee. There will be two public meetings associated with the development of this plan, and the first of these will be coming up in the relatively near future. Notices will be posted on the Town website, www.townofguilderland. org, and on the character generator on municipal access cable television Channel 17. I would like to recognize the efforts of our crews from the Guilderland Highway Department for their work in keeping Town roads in such good condition during the winter season. Every year brings a set of new and different challenges, but our workers rise to the task each time. I would ask that you assist them in their efforts by being particularly attentive if you are out driving while the plows and salters are out working, and by being careful to observe the Town’s winter parking regulations at all times. Here’s to a second half to the winter season that is as relatively benign as the first half was! Ken Runion, Supervisor

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

2050 Western Ave, Suite 201, Guilderland, NY 12084 (518) 456-6611 • www.guilderlandchamber.com

Guilderland, NY - At the chamber these past few months we have embarked on some research of what do you, our businesses want and need, and how can we help you. So far we have had some great feedback. This is a good time to remind businesses that it’s a great time to join the chamber and that we can help you. Businesses have faced a harsh reality the last few years with a recession that we are all coming out of. Things are looking up and people are back in action and ready to take on the world again. Just like we always do since in our human nature we got through it and now it’s time to get back to business. Whether you live, shop, dine or work here we are all in this together! It’s up to all of us to support each other and in order to be successful and keep our community thriving In our research phase we have found that people really do feel better today about the overall outlook than they did a few short years ago. While businesses are still overwhelmed there is a lot of hope. It was also prevalent that everyone is longing for a sense of community to help spread the pride that being a

part of Guilderland brings about. People and businesses alike want to be involved and feel like they are a part of something. This is why it is important to be a part of the chamber. We can help you be a part of something and make those connections and get that assistance that you need. If you own your own business, or are part of a business what’s stopping you? We can help you connect with other businesses who are going through the same plights and successes you are. We can also help you promote your businesses and get involved and give back to the community. We are here for YOU. We want to work for YOU. We wake up and come to our office every day ready to tackle on your problems and issues, and ready to celebrate and congratulate you in your successes. Without YOU, our businesses community, there can be no “us”. Give me or Linda a call today or email us to meet with me. I will sit down with you and get to know so we can better serve you and your need. You can contact us at (518)456-6611 or email me at egauthier@ guilderlandchamber.com Sincerely, Erika Gauthier, President Register for chamber events at www.guilderlandchamber.com/calendar.html

Q. Where are you located? A. I am located at Avanti Hair Studio 2005 Western Ave, Albany NY 12203. Q. What is your phone number and website address? A. To make an appointment or inquire about my services call, 518301-0229. I also have a Facebook page with updates on products and service specials: www.facebook.com/nailsbynicolearciello Q. What hours are you open? A. I am available by appointment Tuesday-Saturday Q. What services do you offer to your clientele? A. I offer natural nail manicures, pedicures featuring Footlogix Pediceutical products and gel manicures. I also provide waxing services such as eyebrow waxing and shaping.

* New students only.

Over 15 years of experience!

Q. Why did you get into the business? A. I always loved how I felt after getting my nails done. What a treat it was, and how confident it made me feel to be “put together.” I like to make women feel good about themselves. But more importantly, I want them to know that I have their total wellness in mind with every service, especially pedicures. It is so important for everyone to take care of their feet, all year round. Q. What do you love most about the business? A. I love when I can help a client solve an on-going problem with their feet such as dry skin or callus build-up. It is a great feeling for both of us when we see results in just one appointment. I also enjoy helping clients relax and release the stresses of their day. Q. What do you want the community to know about you? A. I would like the community to know that I carefully select products and services with their overall health in mind. I have extensive continuing education in pedicures and Footlogix products, which helps me to not only provide a great pedicure service, but also to educate clients about foot care and send them home with a product to keep their feet healthy in-between pedicures. I use OPI, Gelish and Cuccio Naturale products for services as well. I want clients to feel confident in my services, so they can relax and be pampered knowing that I have their best interest in mind. 12

id you know each February since 1949 the American Dental Association has sponsored National Childrens Dental Health Month to raise the awareness about the importance of good oral health? Our philosophy has always been to educate patients so that they can participate in maintaining their dental health for a lifetime. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits can help children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. Over the years our office has talked to hundreds of kids mainly Pre-K through 2nd grade at St. Madeline Sophie, Christ the King, Pinebush, and Lynwood elementary schools about the importance of good oral health. During this month we look forward to reaching out into the community and visiting these schools. We feel that good oral health is an important part of a child’s overall health. With proper diet and regular dental visits, children can have a healthy and happy smile for a lifetime.

M

WHY SETTLE ON THE COURTHOUSE STEPS? Guilderland, NY - I am often asked “if 95% of divorce cases are resolved with a settlement, why does it take so long to get there?” There are many good reasons that delay the process: the need to obtain financial information; custody issues; and obtaining appraisals and reports. All of these items may be necessary in order to have a full understanding of the family’s finances, or that there is enough information to discern what is in the best interests of the children. Unfortunately, there are more bad reasons than good for the process to take so long. If you try to avoid these, you will probably end up with a quicker resolution and save yourself legal fees. The status quo is better than the ultimate outcome - While this may be true, it is often a matter of “you can run but you can’t hide.” How much better off are you by putting off the inevitable? Using litigation as a weapon – There are people who feel that the time, energy, and intrusion into the other person’s life is worth the wait. Keep in mind, this is a very short period of time and then all of the lawyers, judges, and others involved in your case will move on. You or your spouse are making unreasonable demands or have unreasonable expectations - If your family owns 100 widgets and you want 99 of them, then certainly your spouse may not be in any hurry to settle.

There are easy ways to expedite the process: Listen to your lawyer - Are you hiring this person to provide you advice and counsel or simply to be your mouthpiece? If you only want somebody to say what you want that may not have any basis in fact or law, you are not using your attorney in the best way possible, and are probably wasting time and money. Ask your lawyer what percent of her cases she tries - While you want an experienced trial lawyer, if 5% of all cases are tried and yet your lawyer tries 95% of hers, is she unlucky, or does she not want to put in the hard work involved in working out a settlement? Temper your expectations - If you are only hearing the “best case” scenario, then you are not taking into account the risks involved in litigation. Don’t lose the forest for the trees - While there are certain items that have sentimental value and cannot be duplicated, that is most likely the minority of what you own. Don’t spend $500 fighting over the toaster and coffee maker. Flip a coin! Don’t fall in love with litigation - While our television screens are full of exciting moments in court with beautiful lawyers and judges, real life it is not that glamorous. There are rarely the “ah ha” moments that you see on TV. The best way to know what your reasonable options are in a divorce is to speak to an experienced matrimonial practitioner who can help guide you to the best outcome.

INCOME TAX PREPARATION CHECKLIST Guilderland, NY- This is the time of year when many of us are busy preparing and gathering the information necessary for the completion of our 2014 income tax returns. Below are several items that you should be aware of as it relates to this process. By the second week of February, you should have received your forms W-2 (employment wages) and any 1099R (retirement income), 1099-INT, or 1099-MISC (other income) statements for 2014, as well as \RXU VRFLDO VHFXULW\ EHQHÀWV statement, if applicable. The medical expense deduction threshold has been raised from 7.5% of Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) to 10% of AGI, however individuals age 65 and older have been granted an extension of the previous 7.5% threshold through 12/31/2016. VISIT A TEACHER Guilderland, NY - This month I was fortunate enough to have a visit from a former Taekwondo student that attended my after school program in Westchester. It was so nice to see my little third grade girl all grown up into a successful, happy, young lady attending college at Plattsburgh State. There is no better reward for a teacher than to hear from former students and see them in their growing lives. I am so fortunate to have had a lot of former students visit me to say hello, which is, in itself, enough of a prize. Just to see them, to see how they have grown and know what they are doing is a reward that is priceless. It is like being with your own children that have been away for a while; it is enough just to be together, to know that they are safe. I think about former students all the time and wonder where they are, what they are doing and how things turned out for them. It is like they are part of my family. This is true for my math, computer and Taekwondo teaching in Westchester, Istanbul and Guilderland. Some students have connected with me through social media which allows me to see them grow as they develop their careers and start their own families. Others have stopped by Guilderland High School or Guilderland Martial Arts and others have sent kind emails.

I encourage you to find a teacher or coach from your past and contact them to say hello. I can guarantee that they will appreciate it and you may even make their day or week or year. A very good friend of mine looked up his basketball coach from high school. They connected after 33 years and I can assure you that his coach was ecstatic about hearing of the impact he had on my friend’s life and the success my friend has had as he has grown. You can give this present to any of your former teachers or coaches and the best part is that it is priceless yet costs nothing but a little time and effort. I know how great it feels and I want all of my colleagues around the world to experience the same elation. If one person reads this and makes a contact, my mission is complete, and we have spread the joy. If all of us try to spread joy in our everyday lives, this world would be an even better place to live than it is. It may sound corny or contrived to some of you, but you know that it is true and one thing is for sure: we are not going to make the world a worse place by trying to spread the joy of contact with the people that helped us grow into who we are today.

TAKING YOUR TRAINING TO THE NEXT LEVEL By: Dr. Kim Leis-Keeling

Guilderland, NY - Here we are in the heart of winter. Some of you may be dreading this time of year while others are taking advantage of this time to prepare for your summer sports season. Winter is considered the “off-season” for many long distance athletes such as runners, triathletes and cyclists. This is the perfect time to work on some cross training, strength training and work on injury prevention for the upcoming season. Your first step to ward off injuries this season is to prevent them. Now is the time to evaluate the type of injuries you had last season and work on preventing them this year. One of the reasons athletes get injuries is from not recovering properly. Recovering includes proper nutrition and hydration, adequate sleep, utilizing recovery techniques and therapies. Here are a few to consider: 1. Massage Therapy and Chiropractic Care: It often amazes me how many long distance athletes do not utilize sports massage and chiropractic as recovery tools. Massage is a wonderful tool to help muscles heal after being beaten up through training. Chiropractic is necessary to keep your joints aligned properly so your muscles do not have to work so hard. I’m not going to give a sermon on the power of chiropractic care for athletes. However, I can just tell you that it works. Throughout my career, I have worked with so many elite athletes in various sports including semi-professional football, ultimate fighting, marathon, triathlon, cycling, rugby, hockey, lacrosse and most recently the Olympics. Getting massages and adjustments are a vital part of their training and recovery. 2. NormaTec MVP Recovery System: This is a muscle recovery system that is commonly used by elite athletes in the Olympic Training Centers, marathons and triathletes. The NormaTec recovery pants are worn typically after a training session to aid in muscle recovery. The pants gently inflate 5 separate chambers to flush your muscles of training byproducts and give them a massage. A typical session is 30 minutes. I am excited to announce that these are now available to use at our clinic.

3. Self Myofascial Release: This is a simple activity that is performed by the athlete and can have dramatic results on your muscle tissue. It will reduce muscle pain, increase range of motion and decrease muscle fatigue. It utilizes equipment such as foam rollers, massage sticks, tennis balls, lacrosse balls and even your kitchen rolling pin. This helps to keep the tissue that surrounds your muscle free of adhesions and encourages blood flow and flushing. If you do not know how to use these tools, we are more than happy to teach you how to use them effectively. 4. Ice, heat and muscle balms: Don’t underestimate the power of simple techniques such as using ice when you are in pain and using heat for chronic tight muscles. There are various muscle balms such as Biofreeze, CryoDerm, Arnica, Tiger Balm, etc. These all work great to ease muscle soreness. So if you are training for any distance event, marathon, triathlon, cycling race, the Crossfit open or just looking to get the most out of your muscles, consider us to be a part of your recovery team. Get started on the road to better recovery and take advantage of the following coupons.

HOW ARE THEY NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS GOING? Guilderland, NY- So it’s just after New Years. You made it to February. Every year one of the number one resolutions is to lose weight or get in shape. How’s that one going for you? Are you still going to your new gym? Eating right? Maybe? Not so much? Here’s the truth: We are bombarded by magazines, articles, photos promising six pack abs and bulging biceps on a daily basis. We are promised ‘no work workouts’. We’ve all seen the commercials for the new 14 minute workout right? Guess what? These things don’t work. Very few people will get six pack abs. Fourteen minute workouts? Well, ANYTHING will work for a short time if you’ve done nothing but sit on your butt eating nachos for the last year. However without a plan and consistency these result will not lead to lasting results. Fitness and Health are very different from the images we all wish we looked like. Working out is Fitness. Eating right is Health. So here you are. You joined your gym. It’s full of machines and classes and people dressed up in tight clothes. And not so tight clothes. It’s crowded. What do you do? Maybe take some classes. GREAT! You move. You sweat. Maybe you get on a machine. GREAT! You move. You sweat. For a few weeks you feel better. You have more energy. Then what? Plateau. Nothing changes. Your 3 day a week routine gets interrupted. You never change classes. You never change machines. You never increase the amount of time you spend at the gym. Now moving is better than NOT moving. Going to the gym is better than NOT going. The question is how do you get where you want to go? Find a trainer. Personal trainers are invaluable when you need guidance and personalization of your routine. Find a program that works. A program is different than just showing up to random classes or boot camps with a bunch of hard moves that day. Programs progress you through a series of routines specifically made to keep your body changing. Add H.I.I.T. (high intensity interval training) 1-2 times a week. Pick up weights—no not the pretty pink ones.

Heavy weights. Incorporate resistance training. Seek out good nutrition advice- not what’s posted on Yahoo Health that day. Eat real whole foods. Find a studio or gym that gives you a safe fun place to workout. One that gives you an accountability group. COMMIT. This is the biggest thing. Show up. Workout at least 4 days a week. This is a commitment to YOU. What are you worth? Good Luck and congratulations on your decision to get healthy! Feel free to contact us with any fitness and health questions you may have.

Their expertise, combined with the excellent technology available at SRPC’s outpatient imaging centers in Guilderland and Niskayuna, are a valuable resource to women (and men) in the area. In a conversation with Dr. Raymond at Guilderland Medical Imaging on Carman Road, she addressed the most commonly asked question she gets when people find out what she does for a living. “The thing that women ask me the most is if screening mammography works.” She explains that, while there is a lot to consider when discussing breast health, “My answer is always a resounding YES! Mammography saves lives and women should be proactive about seeking screening.” Dr. Raymond resides in Guilderland with her husband and young son. forward to becoming an active part of her new community. Also joining SRPC is Dr. Joseph Surace, a graduate of Florida State University and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Surace trained in Level 1 urban trauma units. The first was his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx. Dr. Surace, born and raised in Upstate New York, now resides in Saratoga Springs. He loves to play music and is an avid skier. During an interview at Balltown Medical Imaging in Niskayuna, Dr. Surace says that he is most frequently asked what a Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologist is. “MSK Radiologists are doctors who, in addition to being trained in general radiology, spend additional time specializing in interpreting MRIs, CT scans, X-Rays, etc. of bones, muscles, and joints. We typically work closely with orthopedic surgeons and provide support for our colleagues who want a second opinion on a study.” According to Jim Mooney, SRPC Practice Administrator, “We welcome the addition of Drs. Surace and Raymond to our team. Our top priority is to develop a complimentary group of high quality, caring professionals who collaboratively provide excellent care for our patients.” For more information about SRPC Medical Imaging Centers (in Niskayuna or Guilderland) can be found on their website at www.SRPCimaging.com .

GUILDERLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY 2228 Western Ave, Guilderland • (518) 456-2400 • www.guilpl.org

Why do we need libraries at all…? Guilderland, NY- Why do we need libraries at all, in the age of the internet, search engines such as Google, and streaming services like Netflix and Spotify? One reason is that not everyone can afford access to those and other online services, and public libraries -- for well over a hundred years -- have helped level the playing field by giving people equal opportunity to all sources of information so they can learn, grow, and enjoy life. Beyond that, as everyone knows, instilling a love of reading and learning early in life remains one of the most effective ways of ensuring that our kids grow up to be healthy, intelligent, happy, and competitive in educational settings and job markets that grow increasingly complex and competitive. And libraries make that happen. As I like to say, “We’re like that giant online streaming service, only free.” Not only can you read eBooks and eMagazines online for free through our services. But here’s a really big thing about libraries, compared to the internet that many people don’t realize: When you type a search term into your computer or a mobile device, the search engine tailors the results to you based on your previous searches, purchases, gender, age, and whatever other personal “Big Data” it’s stored on you. So, if thirty people type in the same search term, they often get thirty different sets of results. Wait a minute, isn’t that a good thing? Well, yes, it can be. But if you are seeking objective information about law, politics, medicine, home repair, or any other important topic, don’t you want to make your own decisions about what information you want to see? That’s still possible at a library, through access to the collection of books and magazines, and especially online databases that do not try to out-guess you about your needs and interests. Many of these objective sources are available online, through our website, from the comfort of your home, or while you are travelling. Here at the Guilderland Public Library, we’re planning ahead. We are required by law to periodically write and publish a strategic plan that guides the library towards its future. We’d

like your help with this: Please share with us your thoughts, visions, and ideas for the future of YOUR public library. Over the next several months, we’ll have several open forums where Guilderland residents can express their opinions about what they’d like to see and do at GPL. Watch this space for more information, like us on Facebook, and/or follow us on Twitter for the latest updates to the process. Better yet, email me, your library director, at wilest@guilpl.org, or call me at 456-2400 x 113. You can also email Library Trustee Judy Kahn, who is chairing the long range planning committee, at lrp@guilpl.org Lastly, while the economy has improved a bit over the last year or two, funding for public institutions remains flat. That’s one reason why the Guilderland Library Foundation, our private fundraising arm, founded in 1992, invites you to come to our fundraising gala dinner dance – “A Novel Affair” – on Saturday, April 25th at Mallozzi’s clubhouse at the Western Turnpike Golf Course. There will be great menu choices, an open bar, wonderful live jazz and pop music, dancing, and a silent auction with great items donated by nearly 100 businesses and individuals from Guilderland. Proceeds from the Gala will benefit the Guilderland Library Foundation, whose mission is to enhance the library by supplying funds for things we just can’t find room for in our own budget. Over the years, these have included many concerts and notable author appearances, programs for all ages, enhancements to the youth department, the popcorn machine we use for our free films, and many other amenities that make your library such a special place. We’d love to see you at the Gala! Tickets are $65 per person, and you purchase them by mailing a check to Guilderland Library Foundation at 2228 Western Avenue, Guilderland, NY 12084. See you at the Gala! Tim Wiles Director Guilderland Public Library ABOUT THE LIBRARY The Guilderland Public Library is located at 2228 Western Avenue, Guilderland. POWER OF ATTORNEY by Bob and Denise Randall

Guilderland, NY- A Power of Attorney is a legal document where one person, the principal, authorizes another person, the agent, to act on his behalf. The agent has just so much power as the principal gives him. In legal terms, the agent is referred to as the principal’s “attorney in fact. The principal can appoint the agent to act for him in many various matters or in just a single transaction. For example, if a husband and wife sell their house but one of them is unavailable to attend the closing, the absent spouse can appoint the other to act as agent for the sole purpose of signing documents at the closing. Once the transaction is completed the agent’s authority is terminated. A principal can also grant to his agent broad authority to act on his behalf with respect to banking, insurance, real estate and a variety of other transactions. This is a general Power of Attorney. Powers of Attorney can be either durable or nondurable. A nondurable Power of Attorney ends when the principal becomes incompetent. A durable Power of Attorney does not expire if the principal becomes incompetent. For this reason most financial planners and estate planning attorneys recommend a durable power of attorney. It allows a person’s financial affairs to continue without question or interruption even if the principal loses competency. Without a durable power of attorney, if the principal becomes incompetent a Guardianship Proceeding would have to be commenced. In a Guardianship Proceeding, a court determines that the principal has become incompetent and appoints a guardian. Frequently, determining who is appointed guardian becomes a hotly contested matter. Having a Power of Attorney can save time, money, keeps the person’s business private (remember, court proceedings and records are generally open to the public), and allows the principal to select the person he/she wants to handle his/her affairs. The attorney in fact does not become the owner of the principal’s property. He or she is simply authorized to act in the place of the principal with respect to the principal’s property.

Although Powers of Attorney can be durable and survive the principal’s incompetence, they can be revoked by the principal at any time. All Powers of Attorney automatically expire upon the death of the principal. A Power of Attorney is an extremely powerful and useful document and should be part of a comprehensive estate plan. You and your estate planning attorney will decide which Power of Attorney is right for you.

There are certain things an agent cannot do on behalf of the principal even with a broad Power of Attorney. For example, a Power of Attorney cannot be used to execute a Living Will and cannot be used to execute or revoke a Last Will & Testament.

A Power of Attorney goes into effect upon signing. It is possible to have it go into effect at some point in the future upon the happening of a specific event or at a specific date. This is a “springing Power of Attorney.

TRASH TALK

by Vince Coppola, Owner of Scrapster, LLC OFFICIAL CAPITAL DISTRICT UPDATE: The Groundhog called it in this year: 6 more months of Winter! If you’re like me, you love snow during the holidays, but then we put the presents away and start glaring at the thermometer (or more probably checking weather.com) every ten minutes. We start wishing/praying for Spring to arrive, as in NOW. All you need is one balmy 32 degree day and then you can start mentally preparing for that awesome grill you love so much to be taken back out of the garage. But wait a second…didn’t that kind of expensive, pseudo stainless steel grill epically fail during the Labor Day family barbeque? “Sorry, Aunt Pat, I’m pretty sure your eyebrows will grow back!” There it is in the corner of what used to be a two car garage but is now a 2 bay storage facility. How the heck do you still have multiple sets of snow tires for cars you don’t even own anymore? They’re stacked neatly next to the workbench full of cans of screws you’ve never used, ever. What is really in these boxes that say both “Kid’s College Stuff” and “Craft Supplies” on them? And let’s just make the final decision that you are not ever going to rebuild that old lawnmower your dad gave you when you bought your first house…Thanks, Dad! Now is the perfect time to “Reclaim Your Domain”! (I’m pretty proud of this catchphrase even though it doesn’t rhyme exactly). Every time we finish a clean out I hear and see the same things from customers: various shouts about new found happiness, huge sighs of relief, quick bursts of dancing followed by unbridled joy, and of course the standard cry of “Why didn’t I call Scrapster last year?” So let’s work together to make this year last year, or something like that…I’m sure you get my gist. Our company is Scrapster, LLC, the Capital Region’s premier Clean Out, Junk Removal and Scrap Metal/ Appliance Removal and Recycling service. We are a local family owned business and cater to both residential and business customers within a 50 mile radius around Albany, NY. We are fully insured, convenient, and reliable and always provide top Quality work. Everything is properly recycled, disposed of or donated. Scrapster is an official New York State DEC approved location for business or personal computer and electronics recycling along with affordable TV removal (call for details). We are fully EPA608 certified for Freon (refrigerant) recovery from refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, etc. Please call us today at (518) 505-5055. We’ll remove the items and you don’t need to do a thing! Please Like Us on Facebook and visit our website at www.scrapster.com for more information, specials & coupons, recycling information, or to schedule an appointment.

Nicholas is a very sweet, gentle two yr. old neutered male kitty looking for a forever home. He was found right before Christmas starving and trying to protect a little hole in the wall of an abandoned house in which he was living. He was so happy to be warm w/ all the food he wants.

Nicholas is handsome with his thick long hair and his John Wayne swagger. He looks like a Maine Coon but much smaller as he is medium-sized. He is very sweet and loves to be held and patted. He will always meet you at the door when you come home.

FOR ADOPTION

Nicholas will do best in a home w/ at least one other cat as he is still a little tentative at times about what a kitty does. With each day he seems to flourish. Currently he lives in a foster home w/ five cats and thoroughly enjoys their company! He also likes to be included in all family activities except vacuuming. Nicholas is neutered, tested negative for FIV/Felv and is upto-date on his vaccines. For more info call Laurie at 518-461-0251 or brightsky@nycap.rr.com
