MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
DAVIE UPDATE By Mayor Judy Paul
C
ondolences to the family, friends and community saddened by the passing of Congressman Alcee Hastings. He always served us well and brought strength to all through his conviction to the many causes he championed and his powerful oratory that moved mountains. Godspeed Congressman. The Town of Davie and the Boy Scouts of America are working to bring our Memorial Day Ceremony back for the public. Some changes are being made regarding the parade and arena delivery to comply with the present Covid emergency orders, but this is a great sign. On May 31 we will honor all those who gave their lives for our freedom. The parade kicks off at Fire Station 38 on Orange Drive and ends at the Davie Arena at Bergeron Rodeo Grounds. God bless all our veterans and those who we have lost. The Town of Davie has been operating a vaccination site for Florida residents who are 18 years and older or 16 - 17 years old with parent/guardian present with a government-issued ID. Should you have any questions, please contact 954-797-1000. Sports programs are back in action. I was thrilled to meet some of the baseball teams on opening day and throwing a few first pitches. Soccer has also been taking registrations and will be in full swing. The pickleball and tennis courts at Bamford Sports Complex are also up and running. It was great to see people in the park enjoying the weather and playing their favorite sports. Thank you to all the residents and business owners who contact me with concerns and issues that impact our community. I depend on you to be my eyes and ears and welcome all comments. In turn, I direct problems to appropriate departments and see that solutions are implemented. Many times, since multiple jurisdictions are involved, such as FDOT or the County, it may take a little longer to see results, but we are always working for you. Many times, I get a call and the comment is: “I know how busy you are and didn’t want to bother you”. Please know that I am never too busy to help you. After all, that’s my job. You elected me to represent you, so do not feel shy about contacting me at jpaul@davie-fl.gov. Stay safe, get vaccinated, and keep wearing your mask!!!! If you need to contact me please call 954-797-1030 or email me at jpaul@davie-fl.gov.
