Can You Feel the Heat?
T
he heat is on for parents to keep the kids entertained. It seems their level of summer boredom is soaring along with the heat and humidity. While we struggle to find meaningful things for our kids to do, we should not forget that summers are meant to spend quality time together as a family. All of us are busy in our career and professional lives and sometimes we simply need to sit back and remember why we are working so hard. Our children are the core of our family life and their bored expressions these days remind us to head out for one of those great American traditions -- the family summer vacation. So let’s turn off the smartphones, tablets and laptops for a few days, disconnect from the internet, and instead spend some time together. Whether you enjoy a picnic at the beach, take an airboat trip into the Everglades, play a board game, see a movie together, or simply jump in the pool and just chill out in the back yard, the important thing is to do it as a family. Those quality moments together are what we and our kids will remember for years to come. So let’s enjoy the heat and each other.

Hollywood Attorney Selected To Receive Prestigious Award Community News
By Beverly Perkins
A
ttorney David W. Singer has been serving the legal community for more than 35 years in South Florida at the largest personal injury and wrongful death law firms at which he is a managing partner; David W. Singer & Associates, P.A. He has been an active community volunteer participating and holding multiple leadership positions in various charities. However, he is most known for his contributions to the annual “Jail and Bail” event which raises money for the American Cancer Society. This great accomplishment has earned him recognition by the American Association for Justice for his quest to fight cancer. This month this prominent attorney will receive the “Trial Lawyers Care Award” at the annual convention in Montreal. This prestigious award is presented to attorneys who devote themselves to their communities by being active participants in charitable activities which serve a good cause. The American Association of Justice (AAJ), formerly known as the American Association of Trial Lawyers of America, is the world’s largest trial bar. They are dedicated to making certain the legal system gives all people a fair chance to receive justice when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others.
Singer has been a huge component, for 24 years now, in the “Jail and Bail” fundraiser. In the past 23 years of which he chaired this popular four day event, he has raised more than $4 million dollars for the American Cancer Society. This unique event draws an abundance of volunteers along with those that Singer personally Dwight Stephenson, David, selects himself to form his “parole Singer and Bill Ellis (2014) board”. This fabricated board finds “jailbirds” whom they want arrested and thrown in jail for the cause. These fictitious felons can be friends, associates and/ or even local celebrities. Fake arrests are then made by real police in this unique fundraiser. Once convicted, these imaginary prisoners make pledge calls to get bail money which are actually American Cancer Society Jail & Bail Honorary Co-Chair Ted Deutch, David Singer and Mike Satz donations. “It’s an honor to receive this award,” said David Singer. “The American Association for Justice is an organization that I hold very near to my heart. No organization is doing more to uphold the individual’s constitutional right to a fair and impartial trial. To be singled out among all the trial lawyers that do great works across our nation, is truly humbling. I thank the Trial Lawyers Care Committee for this great distinction.”
Hollywood and Hallandale Donators Help Reach A Fundraising Milestone By Beverly Perkins
A
small group of South Florida community members rallied to raise the much needed funds to start Phase 1 renovations at The Holocaust Documentation and Education Center in Dania Beach. Among those community members is the well-known
8
Dr. Abe Fischler who created an event with David Schulman to gain exposure and raise these necessary funds to support the first South Florida Holocaust Museum. They gathered a passionate group of community leaders and supporters and other donors to raise the remaining $300,000 of the $1.5 million needed to start the first phase renovations. The commitments to this 26,000 square foot facility at 303 N. Federal Highway will ensure that future generations will be exposed and educated through this historical documentation center. The HDEC will house a museum with thought-provoking state-of-theart exhibits and insightful programming all of which will highlight the catastrophic ramifications and implications of prejudice, racism, stereotyping and bullying. By having this local educational memorial, history will be preserved and more importantly be remembered. Prior to this event, $2.4 million of the needed $2.7 million in donations came from JM Family Enterprises Inc., the Jewish Community Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Broward County, the Leo Goodman Foundation, the Archdiocese of Miami, the Sam Berman Foundation, the Scherr Family Foundation, the Joseph and Sherrie Garfield Charitable Foundation, the Applebaum Foundation and the Katz Family Foundation as well as numerous devoted generous private donors. Besides Dr. Abe Fischer and David Schulman,

other prominent local benefactors helped reach the $300,000 finish line. They are Gerry Greenspoon of Hollywood, Sheryl Greenwald of Hallandale and the Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale, the Goodwin Foundation, Steve Jackman, Doug Berman and Ken Segal. Without such generous supporters, The Holocaust Documentation and Education Center (HDEC) would not exist. One does not necessarily need to support with money alone, volunteers are always needed, as time is an extremely valuable resource. “It was an extraordinary, thrilling and emotional moment to know that after 35 years of existence, the dream of ensuring a legacy of remembrance for our community and beyond was now being realized. Our beloved Survivors kept their promise to tell their stories and keep the memory alive and we promised to do no less,” said HDEC President Rositta Kenigsberg. The Holocaust Documentation and Education Center has been lauded by the Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach school boards for its outstanding educational outreach programs including Student Awareness Days, Teacher Institutes, and annual contests. To learn more please contact Rositta E. Kenigsberg at Rositta@hdec.org.

Hollywood Boy Scout Wants To Earns His Wings
Can Do Kids
By Beverly Perkins
C
ody Brown, a 17 year old Life Rank Boy Scout in Troop 814, and soon to be senior at McArthur High School has been eligible to perform his Eagle Scout Leadership Project for the past 3 years. However, he wanted to do something different, not the typical animal habitat or park bench projects that so many other scouts have done before him. In order to receive the prestigious Eagle Scout ranking, a Boy Scout must have earned a minimum of 21 mandatory merit badges to even become eligible and develop a rigorous service project which is approved by a committee. This is one of the last steps towards earning this ranking. An Eagle Leadership Project isn’t just about showing up and working either. One must fundraise, plan and coordinate the project from beginning to end as well as find a non-profit, community or religious organization to become a sponsor. One day, Cody came across a story on social media about an elderly man nominated in a competition to receive a free roof in the “No Roof Left Behind” program by Earl W. Johnston Roofing, LLC. Unfortunately, this 95 year old man who lives alone with a blue shredded tarp on his home did not win among the 19 other competitors, but was a finalist. However, a neighbor, Tim Murray, made it his mission to help him anyway thus creating a Facebook page to raise funds and recruit local volunteers. Cody knew this was “his project” that he wanted to do. Generally an Eagle Scout project cannot be done for a business or an individual and Cody was warned that it might not qualify as an Eagle Project. Cody’s first reaction was, “so, if it doesn’t qualify, can I still do it? He deserves this.” This caring young man’s Scoutmaster/Father consulted with others and found out that

as long as he got a sponsor, the project would be eligible. Judy Bates, President of the Boulevard Heights Neighborhood Association, agreed to be a sponsor backing this much needed neighborhood improvement venture. Cody had 3 weeks to fundraise, plan and coordinate this undertaking. After holding a few fundraisers such as a car wash and a dinner, $1,000 in donations was made which was enough to cover the cost of the paint, additional materials and beverages for the team of workers. He gathered his fellow scouts from Troop 814 and their families, McArthur High Band members and Student Government along with plenty of friends to help clean, caulk, seal, mask, prime and paint Mr. Evan’s entire house. Although, he was not allowed to do the actual labor himself as one of the Eagle Project guidelines, he had to demonstrate superior supervision and leadership skills. This collaborative effort was also made possible by Broward Roofing Supply in Pembroke Park who supplied the roofing materials and by Earl W. Johnston of Earl W. Johnston Roofing LLC. He committed to help with retrieving the permit as well as ask for help from the Roofing Contractors Association of South Florida (RCASF). Unfortunately, Mr. Evans had a fall right before the roof was being installed, but Cody met with him at the rehabilitation center to select the paint colors. Upon his return, he will have a safe structure to reside in and no longer be cited. At this time Cody Brown received the “Walk the Walk” service award from the Boulevard Heights Neighborhood Association and is the newly elected 1st Vice Chief in The Order of The Arrow, Boy Scout’s Honor Society. He now awaits to sit before the Board of Review to learn if he received his Eagle ranking status.
It’s Big News to Be the Small Business Person of The Year By Beverly Perkins
▸▸ Isaac Wenick - Baby K’Tan The winner of this prestigious award is decided by past award recipients who gather to review the submitted chamber nominations. The award is then determined by the specific criteria as follows: ▸▸ Owner of a profitable small business (less than 100 employees) ▸▸ Measurable demonstration of leadership abilities (business performance and growth) ▸▸ Measurable demonstration of personal community service ▸▸ High level of service, commitment and energy directed toward business community efforts ▸▸ High degree of business ethics This year’s winner, which The Greater Hollywood Chamber is proud to recognize, is Stephen Rowe II of MR. Restoration. Rowe, a retired combat veteran who served a decade in the US Military with deployments including The Former Republic of Yugoslavia
and Operation Iraqi Freedom, is the co-owner and co-founder of MR. Restoration, a 24/7 water, mold, fire and smoke emergency service company located in Hollywood and currently expanding into the Tampa Bay area. “Stephen is an incredible business and community leader. As a graduate of Leadership Hollywood Class XXXVII, he models the way of what leadership should be all about. Stephen empowers others and never seeks the praise and glory. He edifies those who work and serve with him. Stephen has developed his business the old fashion way though persistence and hard work. In fact, he took care of the disaster response when the Chamber had a flood last summer and his team was reliable, competent, professional and courteous. He is extremely involved in the Chamber as an Ambassador and a member of a Leads group and the Board of Directors.” states Anne Hotte, CEO at The Greater Hollywood Chamber.

The Eyes Have It at Eye Surgeons & Consultants, P.A. in Hollywood feature story
By Beverly Perkins
E
ye Surgeons & Consultants, P.A. is regarded as one of the leading eye care centers in the United States. Offering comprehensive and multi-specialty services, state-of-the-art equipment, convenient hours and a relaxed office setting are just some of the reasons why their staff and surgical team are one of the most respected ophthalmology groups in South Florida. Founder and medical director, Dr. Alan Mendelsohn answers some commonly asked questions about the Hollywood practice.
Eye Surgeons & Consultants
, P.A.
The contact lens department offers a vast inventory of contact lenses including Acuvue, Cooper Vision, Bausch & Lomb and Ciba Vision at competitive prices. Our contact lens specialist provides both soft and gas permeable fittings, including multifocal, gas permeable and toric lenses.
What services do you offer? We offer comprehensive and multispecialty ophthalmology services for the entire family. Some of our services include: complete eye examinations, contacts, glasses, diabetic eye exams, glaucoma exams, small incision cataract surgery, medical retina and eyelid surgery. Plus we are available 365 days a week, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week helping patients with ocular emergencies, semi-emergencies and routine eye care. How many doctors work in the practice? We have two ophthalmologists, myself, Dr. Alan Mendelsohn and Dr. David Goldberger and an optometrist, Dr. Jackie Schwartz. Each of us have numerous years of experience and accolades between us. Which procedures do you specialize in? As ophthalmologists dedicated to providing outstanding care, we are delighted to offer cataract surgery with the AcrySof® family of lenses, the most advanced and trusted intraocular lenses (IOLs) in the world. With the AcrySof® ReSTOR® multifocal IOL, we can generally correct most patients’ cataracts and enable them to see near, far, and everywhere in between without the aid of glasses or bifocals. The ability to read, drive, work on the computer, and see without glasses is an incredible freedom that was never possible with traditional monofocal lenses. Previously, it was not possible to correct cataracts and treat pre-existing astigmatism at the same time. However, we now do so using the AcrySof® Toric IOL. Hollywood Hills High Military Academy Receives Top Honors
School News
By Beverly Perkins
T
he Hollywood Hills High School Military Academy JROTC Drill Team has much to celebrate at the end of the school year. They made Broward County history by ranking among the best in the nation and state in two major competitions of which they competed in on the very same day. Earlier this year they also placed first overall in a drill with over 1,000 cadets participating. These victories are more significant since the Academy has only been open for three years. Hollywood Hills Military Academy is a Public Magnet Leadership Program, and the only one of its kind in all of South Florida. Since opening its doors in 2012, the program has grown tremendously. Currently, they have 225 cadets, both male and female, attending and they are looking to grow to 600 students. Thriving with an extremely rigorous curriculum, the Academy has become a premier magnet school in Broward County as it is attracting high caliber students. So far in its young existence, the Academy has had multiple accomplishments: ▸▸ Broward County Drill Team Champions for 2 consecutive years ▸▸ Drill Team competed and placed at the Florida State Drill Meet 2 years in a row. ▸▸ Drill Team competed at All Army Nationals this SY and placed 15th in the Nation. ▸▸ Leadership and Academic Bowl Teams competed at National level. ▸▸ One of the Army Instructors (1SG Valdez) was awarded the US Army Cadet Command Army Instructor of the Year this SY - this is a major accomplishment and recognition - there are over 40,000 JROTC Instructors Nationwide. ▸▸ Raider Team competed at the State Raider Meet for 2 consecutive years. The Academy has a variety of extra-curricular activities of which students can select from. ▸▸ The Raider Team provides cadets with competitive events focusing on six military skills with the supporting positive objectives of ethical values, good citizenship, leadership potential, effective communication, logical thinking, improved physical fitness, team member skills, motivation and management all in a fun environment. ▸▸ Drill and Ceremony develop two types of drill sequences and routines that are executed by teams composed of males and females. There is the Regulation Platoon Drill and the Exhibition Drill. ▸▸ Color Guard teams compete annually in citywide and state championships and provide support to many community service activities throughout the city. Each team is composed of 4 cadets who are assigned to the following positions: National flag bearer, school or JROTC flag bearer and two guards. ▸▸ Marksmanship Team has certified and qualified Rifle Team Coaches who train cadets for shooting matches. ▸▸ Academic and Leadership Team enriches academic development and prepares students for higher education through JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowls. Recently, the Hollywood Hills Military Academy JROTC Drill Team qualified for the Florida State Drill Championships in Lakeland, Florida and an All Army Nationals Drill Team Championships in Louisville, Kentucky after winning the Broward County championship for the second year in a row. The teams had to split into two divisions to be able to participate in each of these tournaments. At the National Drill Championships, the cadets on the All Army National Drill team placed 15th overall out of 57 schools and over 80 different competing teams. The Drill Team’s Regulation Unarmed Platoon also placed 10th overall and the Color Guard placed seventh overall in the nation. Two cadets, Cadet Captain Asyah Fowlkes and Cadet Captain Monica Hall, also participated in the Dual Unarmed Exhibition and placed second overall in the nation. At the Florida State Championships, the Hollywood Hills JROTC State Drill Team competed in 11 events, ranking fourth in the state in Unarmed Squad Regulation. “I’m very excited about the performance of the cadets, instructors, parents and administration at the Academy. They’ve accomplished way more than a 3 year program can ever imagine. The Academy has won two County Drill Meets in a row, competed in Nationals, and in our National JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl. These accomplishments alone speak great volumes on the quality of the program.” says Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Green, the Broward County Coordinator of JROTC and Military Program. “It is programs like this that makes my job, fun.” For more information on these programs, contact Lieutenant Colonel Green at 754-321-7626 and/or visit www.hollywoodhillsmilitaryacademy.com.

s the 2014-2015 school year comes to an end, it’s time to recognize those educators who have gone above and beyond their call of duty for their students. s the summer sun heats up in South Florida, it’s important to protect your skin as much as possible. The harmful UVA and UVB rays from sun exposure accelerate the aging process in the skin resulting in hyperpigmentation, increased wrinkles, and most importantly, increased incidence of skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common cancer with more cases diagnosed each year in the United States than all other cancers combined. There are some misconceptions regarding sun exposure and skin cancer. ▸▸ You can’t get a sunburn on a cloudy day. Clouds only block some of the harmful ultraviolet rays, so a sunburn is still possible. ▸▸ You can’t get skin cancer where the sun doesn’t shine. Skin cancer can appear anywhere on the body, including the hands and feet. ▸▸ Skin cancer only affects light-skinned people. Those who are fair are at increased risk, but anyone can get skin cancer. ▸▸ Using a tanning bed occasionally is safe. The United States Department of Health and Human Services and World Health Organization have classified a tanning bed as a carcinogen and research suggests that even one session may increase the risk of developing skin cancer. Some sun exposure is essential to Vitamin D metabolism; however, excessive exposure or unprotected exposure can be very harmful. Sunscreen is the obvious first step in protecting your skin. Broad spectrum is best. The FDA requires sunscreen manufacturers to prove that sunscreens protect against ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, which are the primary cause of sunburn as well as Ultraviolet A (UVA) rays, which can cause premature aging of the skin. Both types of rays have been associated with the development of skin cancer. Choose SPF, or sun protective factor, of 15 or greater. Sunscreen must be applied in adequate amounts to achieve the SPF rating on the label. The recommended amount is 2 mg./ cm² – roughly 1 shot glass or 2 tablespoons worth of sunscreen for face and body. Patients who are concerned about obtaining enough sun exposure to make Vitamin D should be aware that current research indicates that 15 minutes of unprotected sun exposure to the midday sun, three times a week is sufficient to synthesize enough Vitamin D to meet our body’s needs. Additionally, remember to protect lips, wear sunglasses with UV protection and wear a wide-brimmed hat. Finally, it is important to get your skin checked periodically by a board certified physician. Dr. Messa is board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, an active member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a recognized expert in cosmetic plastic surgery and has achieved Allergan’s Black Diamond Award as one of the top 1% of plastic surgery practices in the country by volume. Dr. Messa has also achieved Chairman status with Medicis and Mentor Corporation. ulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach’s thoroughbred race track, casino and entertainment destination offers horse racing, slots, poker, shopping, dining and so much more.
This complex has now been even easier to spot with the colossal, 110 foot tall, Pegasus statue welcoming visitors at its gate. This mythical creature has become the area’s newest landmark and Mike Nyman, Director of Marketing, shares some history behind the bronzed beauty. It looks like the Pegasus statue is in the final stages of completion, can you tell us how the Pegasus sculpture came about and if there will be a special ceremony or event for the public to attend? The Pegasus statue is the brainchild of Frank Stronach, the Chairman of the Stronach Group which owns Gulfstream Park. The winged stallion of Greek mythology is best known as a servant of the gods who assisted with slaying the villainous dragon. Therefore, symbolizing good triumphing over evil. It signifies that if you live your life right and do good, good will come to you. Touted as one of the largest bronze statues in the world, the Pegasus is one of the legacies that Mr. Stronach will leave to world. The statue itself was built in China by hundreds of workers and was completed in about two years. It was cut into 1500 pieces and shipped here to Gulfstream Park, where it was reassembled. It took almost a year to put the statue itself together. The finishing touches of the park are now being added and the base of the statue will be a mountain. The inside of the mountain, will be a 5D, 120 seat theater dedicated to showing equine related movies. There will also be a coordinated water fountain in the park. A special ceremony is being planned to commemorate the completion and celebrate the opening by the end of 2015 in Pegasus Park.

hree hundred thousand people a year in the United States die due to Pulmonary Embolism (PE) and Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Varicose veins and leg pain are not just a cosmetic problem, but can be a serious medical condition that can lead to life-threatening complications. Do Not Postpone Treatment
Varicose veins can start out as a seemingly small problem, but left untreated they can become much more serious. Complications of varicose veins may include ulcers. These may form on the skin near the affected veins, particularly near the ankles. They are caused by fluid build-up in the dysfunctional veins and can be extremely painful. Dysfunctional veins can also increase the risk of blood clots. Patients may experience a swelling in the leg, which may indicate a blood clot. Left untreated, these clots can travel through the bloodstream and lodge near the heart or lungs, causing potentially life-threatening health problems. At USA Vein Clinics we treat varicose veins and symptoms like leg pain, swollen legs, spider veins, skin and leg ulcers, discoloration of skin, itching and burning. Insurances and Medicare are also accepted. If you would like to receive non-surgical vein treatments or get a diagnosis, simply schedule an appointment with USA Vein Clinics by calling 954-908-7808. For more information visit www. usaveinclinics.com. USA Vein Clinic is conveniently located at 1711 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd. and is open Monday – Saturday 8:30am7:30pm. USA Vein Clinics is the nation’s only coastto-coast vein clinic that was named “The Best Vein Center” and “The Leader in Healthcare” 5 times.

RYI is an 11 year old Rat Terrier. Her favorite person is her master, Mr. Butler. She’s affectionately called RYI Doggie since she likes to cuddle with her master. However, she is not so welcoming to others. She dislikes people and dogs who walk by their Hollywood home. RYI’s favorite thing to do is to sneak out of the back door and into the neighbor’s yard where she hangs out underneath their house for hours. Rumor has it that she visits the rats. She was last seen playing at her own home on the front lawn.

reast augmentation surgery is the most commonly performed surgical procedure in plastic surgery. In 2014 over 300,000 breast implant procedures were performed in the U.S., representing an increase over the previous two years. Most of these procedures were performed by board certified plastic surgeons. However, as with most aesthetic surgery, these credentials are sometimes insufficient to achieve the best outcome. An eye for beauty and balance, as well as a good ear for patients’ desires, are just as important. Patients are often lured by “free consultations” and car dealer-type discounts. However, simply putting in implants to enlarge the breast mound is not enough. Cleavage, implant pocket sculpting and nipple-areolar position are just a few of the many important fine points that cannot be overlooked if a woman is to achieve her personal best. Bikini season is here, so let’s talk about the difference between just an adequate breast augmentation and an awesome one.

ot too long ago, I wrote about our city’s proposal to ban Styrofoam on our beaches. After deliberating and conducting further research, I requested the ban be deferred for six months while we implement a robust recycling plan on our beaches. There are pros and cons to every issue. Having Styrofoam, plastic or even paper blowing around our beaches can harm our waters and marine life. Products do not pollute, people do. The question becomes, how do we get people to be more conscientious when it comes to preventing litter? Our city will be enacting a summer youth employment project that was approved during one of our last commission meetings. For the next six months we will be focused on keeping our beaches clean. The students will also be educating our residents and visitors on the harm littering does to our environment. During the second public hearing, on the ordinance, we had a local recycling firm approach us on partnering with this program, we also had Dart Industry address us on the pros and cons of different plastic and paper products.

It’s All About the Cleavage
Contrary to some comments from my colleagues and dismissing these experts, it needs to be known that they manufacture all different paper and plastic products. A ban on Styrofoam and plastics would add to their bottom line, not detract from it. The price point on “green” paper products is much higher. Each product brings with it different challenges. The other myth is that Styrofoam cannot be recycled, this is not true. The ideal goal is to keep recyclable products out of landfills. Another misconception is paper is better and will biodegrade. In reality, paper uses more energy, water, and obviously trees to produce. Paper cups do degrade but over 20 years. Unless they are “truly green” not plastic coated. A typical paper coated cup turns in to mush and is worse to cleanup when in the water. The key is RECYCLE, REUSE and PICK UP! Products do not pollute, people do. We all need to recycle and reuse. San Francisco recycles 80% of the waste with a goal of 100%. We all can do much better. As always, if you have any ideas or suggestions to make our community a better place to live work and play please reach out to my anytime. JULY 2015 | OUR CITY Hollywood & Hallandale
Cleavage, the separation between the breasts, is an important part of a woman’s breast appearance. It therefore follows that a goal of augmentation surgery should be to narrow, and improve, the breast cleavage. I am often surprised by surgeons at conferences, or on their websites, who tout great results, yet show a wider cleavage gap after than in the before photos. Placing the breast implant closer towards the center of the chest can be a challenge for some surgeons because of the complex anatomy of the area. Nevertheless, an attractive cleavage makes a better result.
Drifting: the Breast Implant Kind
A significant portion of our practice is dedicated to corrective surgery for patients who are unhappy with their original augmentation. I have observed a common condition where the breast augmentation pocket is too far out and the implants fall towards the armpits when the patient lays flat. I call it drifting. Drifting is definitely not an attractive bikini beach look. The good news is that we have had great success in correcting this problem. Readers can visit our website for examples of before and after pictures of our corrective procedure.
And Don’t Forget the Nipples
Part of a thorough consultation for breast augmentation is analysis of the patient’s nipple-areola. Sometimes these important structures do not fall in a symmetrical and ideal position. If the patient desires, the areola can be modified or repositioned at the time of augmentation to achieve a more appealing result. Fine points in breast augmentation make the difference between just an adequate result and an awesome one. Take the time and effort to research the right plastic surgeon in order to achieve your personal best. Dr. Perez is a member of the NOVO National Council of Leaders in Breast Aesthetics. He has served as a consultant for both Mentor (J&J) and Inamed (Allergan), leading breast implant manufacturers. eadership Hollywood is an organized curriculum for our community’s existing and emerging leaders. Through interactive session days Leadership Hollywood participants can view our community up close, work together and acquire a unique knowledge of resources and services available in Hollywood, Broward County and the State of Florida. Each scheduled program day provides a realistic forum to better understand the role and the impact these different sectors have on our community. All activities encourage class members’ involvement and participation. Also, by virtue of taking part in the various sessions, participants meet key members of the community, region and state, from city officials to county administrators to legislative leaders. This is an exceptional opportunity for participants to present their concerns and voice their questions - face-to-face. As a result of their participation in the program, Leadership Hollywood graduates acquire a solid understanding of the processes, opportunities and challenges in the community and undisputable edge when doing business in Hollywood. Alumni of our program have pursued their service to our community by serving as judges, mayors or commissioners and others have taken leadership roles in the governance of local non-profit organizations. Leadership Hollywood session XL will kick–off Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach followed by a second day of leadership skills at the end of the retreat and graduation will take place June of 2016. Program days usually start at 7:30 a.m. and end around 5:00 p.m. Program tuition is $1000 for Members of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and $1,300 for non-members.

Environmental Day: Provides overview of our environment assets and the make-up of urbans communities; how the natural environment shapes people and how people shape the environment. 5. Media Day: Conveys to class participants the critical need for leaders to work effectively with the media as well as for leaders to recognize media’s challenges in this diverse, fast-changing market. 6. Criminal Justice / County Government Day: Offers insight into the Broward County legal system and introduces participants to Broward elected officials to better understand county issues that would affect our South Florida communities. 7.
