Happy New Year Everyone!

T

he holiday season has come to an end and we have returned to our daily work routines. As we try to recover from all the festivities, the get-togethers with friends and families and the holiday feasts, we now wonder what the year of 2016 has in store for us. For Our City Media, the New Year brings another expansion. On behalf of my staff, I am excited to announce that we are once again growing our family of publications. Starting in March, we will be expanding our local community news magazines to reach an additional 20,000+ homes and businesses in the City of Aventura as well as Sunny Isles Beach. The new Our City Aventura magazine will provide our readers with important and timely community and school news stories while allowing local and regional businesses to reach the residents of those communities. As we embark on a New Year and new ventures, let me take this opportunity to wish all of our readers and advertisers a happy and healthy New Year from all of us at Our City Media!

COMMUNITY NEWS

7th Annual ANF Tour de Broward Will Benefit Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital BY JILL SHARPE

M

any South Floridians either run, walk or cycle as a part of their regular Sunday activities but for the those who participate in the annual ANF Group Tour de Broward on February 28th, their physical efforts will take on new meaning. The 7th annual event will take place at Miramar Regional Park where thousands will exercise to help children and families at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The community fundraiser, sponsored by ANF Group, consists of 50 and 100K bicycle rides, a 5K timed run, 3K walk, and the “Power of Play Kid Zone,” a sports-themed, fun area for children 13 or younger. Offering something for every age, physical ability, and level of fitness, Tour de Broward registration fees range from $10-$40, depending on the event and sign-up date. Participants can register in advance at tourdebroward.com, or on the day of the events. Over $440,870 was raised at the 2015 event, positively impacting many services provided to thousands of children who require outpatient visits, surgery and other medical services at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. This year’s dollars are earmarked for the expansion of pediatric programs and services. In its six-year history, the Tour de Broward has raised more than $2 million to aid the growth of the Hollywood-based hospital. Johnny Pastorius is a living, breathing, case study of the impact Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital has for those in the community. The 11-year-old from Pompano Beach completes the 5K Run each year, despite being less than three years removed from surgery that patched a hole in his heart. Pastorius ran the Tour de Broward shirtless last year, with “6-4-2012, Open Heart Surgery, JDCH” written on his chest. “We thought if it might inspire one person or family, then it was worth doing,” said John Pastorius IV, Johnny’s father. “My son’s not shy about taking off his shirt and we figured that people going through what he did should see that you can get back a normal life with the right care.”

Miramar Regional Park is located at 16801 Miramar Parkway in southwest Broward. The 100K ride starts at 7:00 a.m., run at 8:00 a.m. and walk at 9:00 a.m. Registration is available in advance or on event day. For those unable to participate on the 28th, a virtual participation donation can be made online at tourdebroward. com. To learn more about Tour de Broward sponsorship opportunities, call (954) 265-7241.

Young Entrepreneur Academy Students Visit Subway to Learn About Operating a Fast Food Restaurant BY JILL SHARPE

S

tudents from the Miramar Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneur Academy (YEA!) recently visited a Subway Restaurant to learn about what it takes to run a successful business franchise. The field trip taught the students the important of business operations and structure. Subway, a Blattman Restaurant, was chosen to help students understand the real possibility of creating a quality branded enterprise that is replicable to serve millions of customers in thousands of locations across the country. Subway owner Stephan Blattman shared his own entrepreneurial success story with the students. He told the students where the business idea came from, what the challenges have been and what skills it takes to keep the business running. YEA! is a groundbreaking program that teaches students how to make a job, not just take a job, according to Robert Goltz, CEO of the Miramar Pembroke Pines Chamber. YEA! Introduces students to all types of areas of business through field trips and guest lectures, introducing them to business mentors and community leaders.

“By engaging in this hands on approach to learning, students are able to identify with what it takes to operate a fast food restaurant and how this applies to starting your own business,” said Goltz. “It is trips like this that make YEA! the unique experience that it is- and takes experiential learning to a whole new level!”

More than 700 Volunteers Pitch in to Make Harvest Drive a Success BY JILL SHARPE

SCHOOL NEWS

hanks to the efforts of 17 local schools and 738 volunteers, including businesses, 191 families received a week’s worth of groceries (10-12 grocery bags full) and a Publix Gift Card to buy a turkey and other perishable items as a result of this year’s Harvest Drive. Glades Middle School in Miramar once again served as the distribution site for the annual food drive packing and distribution effort in November. According to Jennifer Moser, the Harvest Drive Coordinator at Glades Middle, all told students and volunteers collected 21,499 food items in addition to $5075 in gift cards. Moser said it’s not just food that families receive. “Every family receives things like detergent, paper towels and toothpaste,” said Moser who is also the school’s peer counseling teacher. “People don’t realize how many families appreciate the things that most of us take for granted.” Volunteers Michael and Helene Malanga put in close to 50 hours helping out during this year’s drive. “Although our daughter has graduated from Glades Middle and is now in high school, we still come back and help with the drive because we enjoy helping people in our community,” they said. Students Emma King, Emily Emsel and Ashley Gordon, all peer counselors who receive service hours for helping out during the drive, said the hours they receive are not the main reason they enjoy helping. “It makes us feel like we’re doing something to help people and people are actually benefitting,” the student’s said. The Harvest Drive began at Country Isles Elementary School in Weston more than 20 years ago but now incorporates fundraising efforts and collections every Thanksgiving across the county. Sagemont Students Accept Great Kindness Challenge

School news

By Stacey Bomser

I

t’s not uncommon to see older students walking younger ones to class or children holding doors for their teachers at the Sagemont Lower School Campus. These simple acts of kindness are part of the school culture. During the week of January 25th-29th, the entire school will commit to completing 15,000 acts of kindness as students, teachers, and administrators accept the Great Kindness Challenge, a proactive and positive bullying prevention initiative that improves school climate and increases student engagement. Maritza Zea, Guidance Counselor of the Sagemont Lower School Campus, says The Sagemont School supports the Great Kindness Challenge as it strives to create a bully-free, safe and caring school environment. “The Great Kindness Challenge helps fulfill Sagemont’s mission statement of creating a school culture of acceptance, tolerance and respect. Sagemont takes pride in embracing the diversity of the student body and in offering a safe, supportive learning environment to each and every one of our students.” Ms. Zea says Sagemont’s overall goal is to spread kindness school-wide, which will create healthy relationships. “Positive relationships allow students to ease anxiety, bring a sense of belonging to the school, and to focus and engage in learning. Researchers have found that students who performed acts of kindness with their peers, families, and in the community had greater academic success than those who simply recorded seeing acts of kindness.” To kick-off the Great Kindness Challenge, Sagemont has invited the Broward

Sheriff’s Office to greet students in the morning carpool lane, along with Student Council and National Elementary Honor Society members. Every student, teacher and staff member has pledged to perform ten acts of kindness every day for one week, for a total of 15,000 acts of kindness. To help students achieve this goal, each grade will engage in a different activity. For example, Early Childhood Education students will color pictures for the front office staff, maintenance workers, and bus drivers; first graders will make cards of well-wishes for patients at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital; and fifth grade students will make new friends by adopting a “Kindness Pen Pal” at one of Sagemont’s sister schools, The Honor Roll School in Houston, Texas. Students will also be able to participate in Kindness Stations during recess. Ms. Zea says the hope is that Sagemont students will continue performing acts and words of kindness not just during this particular week, but the whole year. “As kindness becomes a habit, this can effect real change in their learning environment. The ‘living kindness’ conditions will enhance the students’ understanding and their ability to think critically about ways to generate more kindness on an individual and global level.” The Great Kindness Challenge was created by Kids for Peace to provide schools a tool for creating a positive school environment. For more information go to www.greatkindnesschallenge.org.

“Por Votación, Elegido El Mejor Colegio Privado En Weston”

BY WAYNE MESSAM, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF MIRAMAR

M

y Fellow Residents: The City of Miramar has had quite a year. As we look forward to 2016, the City Commission is proud to represent the residents in accordance with the best interests of the City of Miramar. We will continue our move in the right direction and move our City to the next level. Many of our long-discussed projects have recently broken ground, are underway, or are near-completion. Our City will be better protected as the new Police Headquarters at Town Center gets closer to its completion date. The facility will accommodate various operational functions including a Command Center, Patrol Division, Special Operations, Records and Internal Affairs. Fire station 107 is currently under design and slated to begin construction later in 2016. This brings an additional level of security and safety for our residents as the station will be centrally located within our City. Seniors and families in our community who need additional care and resources will have access to the new adult day care center which recently broke ground at Douglas Road and Miramar Parkway. The Adult Day Care Center will house daytime accommodations for approximately 65 seniors, which provides comfort to those caring for a senior parent in need who cannot be left home alone. The Miramar Amphitheater At Regional Park is expected to be completed in the Fall. This provides entertainment and cultural events that will be readily available not only for our residents, but for the region as well, improving the quality of life for our residents. In addition, the Miramar Amphitheater will make Miramar an entertainment destination with a one-of-a-kind facility with covered seating. In Historic (East) Miramar, residents will enjoy a new band shell and a water splash pad at Shirley Branca Park, renovations to Fairway, and Lake Shore Parks. In addition, millions of dollars in infrastructure projects have begun design and will begin construction in 2016. Ansin Sports Complex upgrades and additions include lighting improvements, new bleacher cover at the Home Side, and practice track upgrades. Vizcaya Park Phase II upgrades include an additional soccer field, grass parking, pavilions, splash pad, new gate and monument sign at Park entrance. Monarch Lakes Park will see restrooms, pavilions, walkways connecting adjacent Flamingo Estate Park, lighting and a butterfly garden. River Run Park will resurface existing parking lot and additional parking lot with gates, the resurfacing of the walking trail, new lighting, new landscaping and irrigation, and the conversion of existing storage building into a new community room.

How to go From Wrinkle to Twinkle With Nonsurgical Facial Treatments

Orthotics: Are They All the Same?

O

rthotics: are they all the same? Are they all created equal? No, they are not. Orthotics, sometimes referred to as “orthoses” or even “arch supports,” is a device inserted into a shoe. It can range from a felt pad to a custommade shoe insert. It can correct an abnormal or irregular walking pattern. Orthotics allow people to stand, walk, and run better and with more comfort. While over the counter orthotics, typically seen in drug stores, are available and may help ease mild symptoms, they typically do not correct the wide range of symptoms that prescription foot orthoses can. Prescription orthoses are custom made to fit a person’s unique foot structure. Orthotics come in many shapes, sizes, and materials and fall into three general categories: those that change foot function, those that are mainly protective in design, and those that combine functional control and protection.

Rigid orthotics fall into the first category. They are designed to control function and are used normally for walking and dress shoes. They are often made of firm material like plastic or carbon fiber. They are made from a mold after a podiatric physician takes a plaster cast (or other image) of the foot. Rigid orthotics control motion in two major foot joints that lie below the ankle joint. They can improve or eliminate strains, aches, and pains in the legs, thighs, and lower back. Soft orthotics are mostly used to absorb shock, increase balance, and take pressure off sore spots of the foot. They are effective for diabetic, arthritic, and deformed feet. Soft orthotics are usually made of cushioned materials, so they can be worn against the sole of the foot. They extend from the heel past the ball of the foot, and include the toes. Soft orthotics, like rigid ones, are made from a mold after the podiatric physician takes a plaster cast. Lastly, there are the semi-rigid orthotics. They provide foot balance for walking or engaging in sports. They are typically made from soft material and reinforced with more rigid material. Sometimes they are prescribed for children with flat feet and in toeing or out toeing disorders. They are additionally used to help athletes mitigate pain while they compete. If you are thinking about orthotics, visit your podiatric physician and get a pair uniquely suited to your individual foot and needs. Dr. Neal M. Bullock’s office is located at 17013 Pines Boulevard, in Pembroke Pines. For information, call 954 450-4200.

L

et’s face it (pun intended): You no longer look like you once did. Your face has wrinkles, brown spots, and is beginning to sag. Your eyes look tired, your cheeks are droopy and your lips look shriveled. Every time you look in the mirror you cannot help but want to look young again. Nowadays there are many nonsurgical options including Botox, Fraxel and fillers, to help you turn back the clock and rejuvenate your face. Some of the first “gray hairs” of the face itself are wrinkles. To combat this obvious sign of aging, Botox treatments are employed. Botox is a natural protein that is injected into the wrinkled areas of the face to relax the muscles, which smoothens the skin and eliminates the most problematic lines around the eyes, brows, and forehead. The procedure, which only takes but a few minutes, produces results noticeable within three to six days. In order to prevent lines and wrinkles from reappearing, patients should receive touch-ups three to four times a year.

One of the most revolutionary treatments available to treat a wide variety of facial flaws is Fraxel laser. With a patient downtime of no longer than two days, Fraxel laser acts to treat aging signs from wrinkles to brown spots. It even improves acne scars left from your younger years! Fraxel laser treatments stimulate the body’s own natural healing process by using thousands of tiny pinpoint laser beams that penetrate the skin’s surface. The old, damaged skin cells are eliminated, replacing them with fresh, healthy, glowing cells. For optimum results, between three to six treatments spaced two to six weeks apart are recommended. To complete the nonsurgical facial rejuvenation trifecta, FDA-approved cosmetic fillers are sometimes used. Fillers, such as Juvéderm®, act to smoothen and soften facial wrinkles, lines, folds, and scars as well as restore volume to hollow cheeks. Although the duration of results varies depending on the specific filler used, most last from six months to one year. An additional use of these fillers is to enhance the lips, making them plumper and more alluring. Lip enhancement results are noticeable immediately, and some swelling is expected. If a facelift is not quite what you need or are looking for, a nonsurgical facial treatment might be just what the doctor ordered. Dr. Jose Soler-Baillo is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. For more information please visit, www. resultsmd.com or email info@resultsmd.com.

What is a Cataract? MIRAMAR The Fountains of Miramar (Next to El Fogon) Dr. Michael Chesen 2909 Dykes Rd., Miramar, FL • 954-437-9733

By Dr. Michael Chesen

C

ataracts are the leading cause of decreased vision in adults older than 65. It is the most common surgical procedure for elderly people. You can still get an “age-related” cataract when you are in your 40s or 50s, although most likely it will be small and not rob you of your vision. Only 15 percent of people are affected with cataracts by age 55, but this figure jumps to 50 percent by age 75, and 90 percent by age 85. It is important to note, however, that cataracts worsen over time … so it’s never too late-or early-to try to prevent them and/or treat them.

A cataract is an opaque spot on the lens of the eye that you can’t see through. The lens lies behind the iris and the pupil, and works like a camera lens. It focuses light onto the retina at the back of the eye, where an image is recorded. The lens also adjusts the eye’s focus, which allows you to see things clearly, both up close and far away. The lens is made of mostly water and protein. But as we age, some of the protein may clump together and start to cloud a small area of the lens. This is a cataract. Over time, the cataract may grow larger and cloud more of the lens, making it harder to see. The haze can vary in size, density, and location, which means its effect on your vision will also vary. At first, many people experience an overall reduction in their vision. They may need more light to read by or may have difficulty reading street signs while driving. A cataract can also affect depth perception, which is particularly dangerous for the elderly, who are more prone to falling.

Common symptoms of cataracts include: ▸▸ ▸▸ ▸▸ ▸▸ ▸▸ ▸▸ ▸▸ ▸▸

Cloudy, fuzzy, foggy, or filmy vision Changes in the way you see colors Problems driving at night because headlights seem too bright Problems with glare from lamps or the sun Frequent changes in your eyeglass prescription Double vision Better near vision (temporarily in farsighted people only) Note: These symptoms also can be signs of other eye problems

What causes cataracts?

▸▸ Free radicals - natural by products of metabolism - are highly reactive chemicals that cause oxidation, which in turn causes aging. ▸▸ Toxins, pharmaceutical drugs, and smoking ▸▸ Diabetes (high levels of sugar in the blood contribute to cataract formation, so it’s not surprising that diabetics are 3-4 times more likely to have cataracts) ▸▸ The protein in the lens changes from the wear and tear it takes over the years, and hardens and loses its ability to focus.

Treatment of cataracts

Cataracts can only be treated surgically. This procedure would be performed by an Ophthalmologist, and is often an outpatient procedure. The surgery often involves placement of intraocular lens (IOL), which is used to replace the eyes natural lens, which is removed in the cataract surgery. Glasses may be required for far/near correction following the procedure, depending on the type IOL used and the surgical outcome. The pre- and post-surgical care of the cataract patient may be and often is provided by an Optometrist. Dr. Chesen can assist patients in finding the appropriate Ophthalmologist for their care, and can be reached at 954-437-9733.

How to Defend Against and Eliminate Deficiency Judgments By Omar J. Arcia, Esq. Foreclosure Defense and Bankruptcy Protection Attorney

T

he most recent trend of cases coming into our office is “deficiency judgment” actions brought against homeowners after a foreclosure, short sale or deed in lieu. If you were foreclosed out of your home, completed a short sale or returned your property to the bank through a deed in lieu, the bank may still sue you for the difference between what you owe under the mortgage and the value of the property in question. That is called a deficiency judgment, and if not properly defended, can lead to garnishment of wages, levying of bank accounts and repossession of vehicles. There are several key ways you can defend against or eliminate deficiency judgments altogether. The first and most effective way of defending against a deficiency judgment is based upon a recently enacted law in Florida which requires that as of July 1, 2013 a deficiency judgment action be brought within one year of a final judgment, short sale or deed in lieu, instead of the previous law that allowed up to five years to bring a deficiency judgment action. If properly presented in court, the new one year law can be used to stop a deficiency judgment action in its tracks. The second line of defense against a deficiency judgment is to challenge the right of the party bringing the action to collect on the judgment. Lenders often sell the right to a deficiency judgment to collection agencies, but the transfer may be entirely ineffective for failure to comply with legal formalities. If properly challenged, the new “pretender lender” may voluntarily dismiss their deficiency judgment action, and you may even be entitled to a refund of your attorney’s fees. Of course, one sure-fire way to eliminate any deficiency judgment is to file for bankruptcy protection at the first suggestion anyone is attempting to seek a deficiency against you. Once you file a bankruptcy, not only will all legal proceedings stop instantly, but when you receive a discharge in bankruptcy, your mortgage deficiency, all credit card, medical, and all other unsecured debt is forever eliminated.

Defending a foreclosure, deficiency judgment and filing for bankruptcy are NOT do-it-yourself propositions. The attorneys at the Arcia Law Firm have over 25 years combined litigation and trial experience, and we are privileged to successfully represent hundreds of homeowners in our community. We have foreclosure defense, loan modification and bankruptcy departments all in the same office. We will gladly refer you to our satisfied clients, so you can be confident in your decision to hire our Firm. Detailed explanations of different options available to homeowners are also discussed in a new DVD developed by the Arcia Law Firm entitled “Fight For Your Home.” If you mention that you heard about the DVD through this magazine, you will receive a complimentary copy during your free consultation to discuss your case in detail. If you are struggling to make your monthly mortgage payments, if you are in the middle of a frustrating loan modification process, or if you just received a foreclosure summons, contact the Arcia Law Firm today at 954-437-9066 to schedule a free personal consultation with Omar Arcia, or visit www.arcialawfirm.com for more information about our case results, testimonials from dozens of satisfied clients, and helpful information.

BY BRUCE IDEN, ESQUIRE

Y

ours, mine, and ours. Sadly, in America the average marriage lasts only seven years, with one out of two marriages ending in divorce. As over seventy-five percent of divorced individuals eventually choose to remarry, blended families now outnumber traditional nuclear families. And while this family dynamic has become the new normal, it’s a far cry from what was portrayed on the classic television series, “The Brady Bunch.” If you are part of a blended family, you face some unique estate planning challenges. These include providing for your current spouse if he or she survives you, and making sure that when your spouse dies your children will be taken care of. Obviously, after the first spouse passes, the family dynamic can change dramatically; what the surviving spouse ends up doing with his or her assets can often be unpredictable. As we all know, blood is thicker than water. Let’s explore just a few possible estate planning options. Your spouse. A simple, albeit not wise, approach would be to leave everything to your spouse. As your spouse adores your children, you have no doubt that he/she will take care of your children after you are gone, right? Keep in mind that an unintended consequence of this approach might be totally disinheriting your own children! Consider this: After you are gone, if your spouse becomes incapacitated it is very likely that your spouse’s children will take over the financial affairs of the family. You don’t need a vivid imagination to see how that might turn into a disaster. What happens when your spouse dies? Or remarries? Without thoughtful planning, your assets may ultimately be inherited by your stepchildren, or even by the person who marries your spouse! Proper legal planning can avoid this potential pitfall. Your children. Another solution is to leave assets to your spouse and your children. Of course this guarantees that your children will not be disinherited, but here too this path may lead to unintended consequences. Leaving assets outright to your children opens up a wide range of concerns, including the possibility that they may squander their inheritance by spending or investing unwisely, or lose most or all in a nasty divorce, an untimely lawsuit, or through bankruptcy. Even if your children are adults, shouldn’t you still protect them from future creditors and predators? Your ex-spouse. You probably don’t consider your ex, but your former spouse plays a role in your estate planning. Think about it. If you leave money to your minor children, it is likely that your ex-spouse will be appointed by the probate court to manage your children’s property. What happens if a child dies while single and childless? Who would inherit their assets? As the nextof-kin of your children, that individual can be your ex-wife or ex-husband! Planning effectively for a blended family requires creativity, experience, and know-how. Consult with an estate planning professional to formulate a plan that is right for you and your family. Estate planning is a deliberate, premeditated act of love. Life can change in an instant. What are you waiting for? Bruce Iden earned his J.D. from George Washington University National Law Center and his L.L.M. in taxation from the University of Miami School of Law. He has been practicing in the area of estate planning and probate and trust administration for over 30 years. For more information, or to schedule a complimentary estate-planning consultation with Mr. Iden, please contact Iden Law Offices at (954)885-0085.

Slender Fit U Makes Dieting Easy What is HCG? HCG (Human Chronic Gonadotropin) is a complex amino-peptide protein that exists in men and women. During pregnancy, it is produced in very high levels and almost completely controls the metabolic function. In non-pregnant individuals, research suggests HCG similarly increases the metabolism.

Geri Kelleher, Owner and Program Director, answered some commonly asked questions about the program.

Does the HCG have side effects? There are no side effects reported while using HCG for weight loss. The amount of HCG used in the diet protocol is a very tiny dose. Because it is a natural substance, this program is completely safe.

Geri Kelleher, Owner and Program Director

Why do people call you the “HCG Guru”? Nine years ago, I lost 25 lbs. on the diet and it changed my life. For the past eight years, I have helped thousands of people achieve their weight loss goals with this program. The best part of my job is seeing people change before my eyes and watching them get their confidence back.

How does Slender Fit U differ from similar programs? My clients tell me that the difference is the way we treat people. We stay involved with all of our clients; they are not just a number. If they miss an appointment, we call them. We make sure that every client gets the proper guidance and support throughout the program and achieves their weight loss goals. Also, we don’t water down the HCG. We give it in the strongest dosage for weight loss. We also give injectable prescription B12. How much can clients expect to lose? Clients can choose a 23-day program or a 46-day program. Women typically lose 15 lbs. in the 23-day program and up to 30 lbs. in the 46-day program. Men typically lose more - 20 to 25 lbs. in 23 days and 40 to 50 lbs. in 46 days.

What makes the diet so effective? Unlike other “diets,” this program reshapes and resculpts the body by releasing abnormal fat deposits. Every pound you lose is a pound of FAT, which is very different from losing a pound of weight. You are not losing muscle mass, or water. You also lose multiple inches and dress sizes and your shape changes. Do clients keep the weight off? Ninety percent of Slender Fit U clients keep the weight off. After completing the program successfully, they support and rebalance their metabolisms. In addition to losing unwanted abnormal fat, they modify their relationship with food and eating, resulting in easily maintained, long-term weight loss. Are clients medically supervised? Yes. Every patient has a comprehensive physical with the medical doctor before starting the program, as well as one-on-one counseling throughout the program. This is included in the price. Does the diet involve exercise? Exercise is not required and does not improve your end result. It is a scientific program and it is the combination of the HCG and the low calorie diet that produces the weight/fat loss. However, exercise is allowed.

M

It’s Their Business

S

lender Fit U is helping clients turn their bodies into fat burning machines. They are losing 1/2 to 2 pounds of fat per day without exercise, diet pills or packaged foods, and they are keeping it off. The medically supervised program helps dieters modify their relationship with food and eating, resulting in an easily maintained, long-term weight loss. It is the last diet they will ever need to do.

ichael Guiliano recently lost 59 pounds on the diet. He was anxious to share his story to motivate others to do the same.

Why did you go on the diet? I was always

very thin. In the past few years, however, I gained some weight and my cholesterol and blood pressure became elevated. I was feeling very uncomfortable with myself and wanted to get back to my normal weight.

Was the diet difficult? The first week was challenging, but after that it was easy.

How are you feeling now? I am off my

cholesterol and blood pressure medications. I visit the gym four to five times a week and watch what I eat. I feel the best I have ever felt!

Michael Guiliano lost 59 pounds on the Slender Fit U diet.

Would you recommend the diet? I already recommended the diet to several people, who have also been successful on the program.

Is the diet easy? To quote one of my clients, “Besides being the most effective diet I have ever gone on, this was the easiest diet I have ever been on. Almost every morning when I got on the scale, my weight would be down. No long workouts, no agonizing hunger pains. That’s how great this diet is.”

Consultations are free and by appointment. For information and to see more before and after photos, visit www. SlenderFitU.com or call 954-423-1376.

What foods are on the diet? There are no packaged meals. You are eating real food from the grocery store that includes protein, fruit and vegetables. This makes it an easy transition onto stabilization, as well as regular eating and regular life. Are patients hungry on the diet? Eighty percent of people experience no hunger on the Slender Fit U program. They even find very tiny servings to be completely satisfying. HCG dieters usually feel as though they are stuffing themselves in order to reach that 800 calorie limit!

Jessica lost 38 lbs. in 6 weeks.

Can you purchase HCG over the counter? No. Real HCG cannot be purchased over the counter. The HCG comes in both an injectable and an oral form from the pharmacy.

Michael lost 59 lbs. in 9 weeks.

SECRET SANTA FOR SENIORS

Officers from the Miramar Police Department’s Community Resource Unit volunteered to host a holiday party at the Miramar Multi-Service Center. More than 180 seniors were served and provided with a small gift. The good feelings generated were priceless!
