That’s why planeloads of northerners are arriving daily to take in the sun and fun during this Spring Break season. Why not take advantage of everything we typically take for granted? Pack up the towels, lounge chairs and picnic basket and spend the day at the beach. Head down to the Keys for some of the world’s best snorkeling and fishing. Or simply enjoy dining under the stars at one of the area’s award-winning restaurants. Now is also the time many families are starting to finalize their summer plans. If you have children that means picking the best camp programs. The choices are seemingly endless, with options for everything from traditional day camps to more specialized camps focused on sports, robotics, drama, arts and crafts, or learning a second language. Cervical Disc Herniation: A Pain in the Neck that is Treatable Scott Robertson, MD - Cleveland Clinic Florida Neurosurgeon Cervical (neck) disc herniation is a common problem that is seen most often in people aged 35 to 55 years, although older people can have it as well. This problem is becoming more common as people spend hours each day with their neck bent to look at computers, tablets or cell phones. The spine, or backbone, is made up of a series of bones called vertebrae that are stacked to form the spinal column. Between the vertebrae are flat, round cushioning pads called intervertebral discs, which act as shock absorbers. Each disc has a soft rubbery center

made of cartilage like our ear lobe. A herniated disc – also called a slipped disc or ruptured disc – occurs when pressure from the vertebrae above and below force some or all of the “rubbery cartilage” through a weakened or torn part of the outer layer. Symptoms and diagnosis The symptoms of a herniated disc include neck pain, headache, pain radiating down the arm, pain or spasms in the shoulder, and numbness, tingling or weakness in the fingers are all signs. Herniated discs can affect anyone, but they are slightly more

common in men than in women. People who frequently lift heavy items also are at increased risk. If you have pain in your neck or arms and shoulders, your physician can order a variety of tests to determine the cause. These might include more familiar tests such as X-rays or MRI or CT scans. It also could include a myelogram, in which as dye is injected into the spinal canal before a CT scan. Another possible test is an electromyelogram, which involves placing small needles into various muscles and measuring their nerve activity. Treatment Most herniated discs improve on their own or with treatments such as physical therapy, steroids or traction. Putting ice or moist heat on the affected area provides some short-term pain relief too. When these steps are not enough, spinal injections of antiinflammatory medicine can reduce swelling and increase mobility. These injections are referred to as epidurals or nerve blocks. For more serious cases, a surgical decompression around the nerve root and removal of a small part of the disc which is pushing on the nerve gives pain relief. For extreme neck and arm pain, we can remove the entire disc, replace it with a bone graft and fuse it to a metal plate. Alternatively, we can replace the bad disc with an artificial one. These tend to last at least 20 years but are not indicated for older patients with multi-level disc disease or other mobility problems such as arthritis. Recovery from surgery Most patients spend one night in the hospital, then need to take it easy for about 2 weeks. Some need to wear a neck collar briefly, but most can resume normal activities in 6 to 8 weeks.

ore than 4,000 people gathered at

Miramar Regional Park on February 22nd for the 6th annual Invicta Watch Group Tour de Broward, an annual event that raises money for pediatric services and programs at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood. At the end of the day, participants, sponsors and donors raised nearly $400,000. The funds directly impact some of the nearly 70,000 children that required outpatient visits, admissions or surgery last year. “The South Florida community has really embraced Tour de Broward and made it more than just a fundraiser,” said Frank V. Sacco, President and CEO of Memorial Healthcare System. “It’s become a celebration of health and wellness, with inspiration embodied in many who participate. Events included a 50K cycling challenge and 100 K cycling challenge, a 5K run, 3K walk, and the Power

of Play Kids’ Zone. There were countless inspirational tales along the way. One of those was twenty-five year old college student Moise Brutus from North Miami who rode the 50K (31 miles) cycling challenge. Brutus, who attends Marian University in Indiana, came back for the event to thank those who helped him at the Memorial Rehabilitation Institute after he lost both legs and part of his left arm in a 2010 motorcycle accident. “Sometimes life knocks you down, but you have to get up. I just happened to get up without legs. If I’m an example of someone who didn’t get up, I certainly didn’t do it without help,” said Brutus. Former heart patient 10-year-old Jonny Pastorius, who finished the 3.1 mile course, was also an inspiration to many. It was the third time Pastorius has run the event, the first time coming just eight months after undergoing a procedure at Joe DiMaggio Children’s

Hospital to patch a hole in his heart. Pastorius, who beat his dad’s time by nearly five minutes, ran shirtless with “6-4-2012 Heart Surgery, JDCH” written in marker on his chest and back. More than $2 million has been raised in the sixyear history of the Tour de Broward. In previous years, funds have supported the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Heart Institute, which houses one of the two pediatric heart transplant programs in South Florida, and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, which improves the lives of oncology patients and their families. Students Pitch in to Remove Invasive Plants at Miramar Pineland Park BY JILL SHARPE

M

iramar Pineland Park is in the

midst of some spring cleaning, but this cleaning involves a bit more than a light dusting and vacuuming. The park is taking part in Broward County’s 100 Bags of Invasives Challenge and hosted their first group to help remove invasive plant species. Over the course of three Saturdays in January, about 150 students from South Plantation High School’s (SPHS) environmental science magnet program took out invasive Rosary Pea and Grapevine plants by the park’s Pinelands Trail. Rosary Peas originated in South America and their poisonous red and black berries lead to fast-growing vines that wrap around native plants, block them from getting sunlight and choke them. “It’s a never-ending battle,” said Rich Newman, a Park Manager. “But we’re one of the counties’ natural areas and we want to keep it native.” The SPHS students spent their time and effort collecting well over 100 bags of invasive plants. In addition to the environmental benefits of their work, any group that pulls up 100 bags or more of invasives receives a certificate of appreciation and the free use of a park pavilion for a party. “Our students needed to do some service learning about South Florida’s ecosystems and the impact we can have on them,” said Jessica Brown, an Advanced Placement environmental science teacher at SPHS. “The students really liked the park and making a difference there. They’ve even talked about getting a group of them together to volunteer on

their own and go back to the park.” The park opened in March 2013 but has already faced many of the same problems with non-native species as other nearby green spaces. “Some non-native plants out-grow and out-reproduce the native species since they have no natural enemies here,” said Terri Ward, a Park Aides. While invasives remain a problem, park staff view volunteers and groups like the SPHS students, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as a key part of the solution. “The 100 Bags challenge is really exciting for us,” Ward said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for high school students to learn about the plants and the park’s history. They SPHS students were very well-prepared, had a great deal of energy and enthusiasm, a good knowledge base and worked well together.” Ward noted that all the work that staff and volunteers perform around the park ensure that everyone can enjoy this unique treasure. “We’re hoping to have groups come out for the 100 Bags of Invasives Challenge again in the fall so that more students can experience the park, help us celebrate the county’s 100th anniversary and have nature be a big part of that celebration,” said Ward. Miramar Pineland Park is located at 3600 South University Drive. Individuals or groups who would like to earn volunteer hours by assisting the park can call 954-357-8776 or go online to http://www. broward.org/parks/miramarpineland.

hosted author Etta B. Harbin, whose latest book, “Martin Luther King BullAvoid: Imploding Communities” addresses black, poor communities that surround the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevards in most cities. The event kicked off with an hour long interactive discussion by Harbin on how communities need to look within to find solutions to the state of poverty for the boulevard residents. This was followed by a lively question and answer session which some 40 plus attendees participated in. When asked by one audience member what the top solution is to the myriad of problems faced by boulevard residents, Harbin replied, “Education is the key for the children of these communities. Teach a child to read and their opportunities are limitless.” Etta Harbin received her BA from Florida Atlantic University and her MS from NOVA Southeastern University. Her combined teaching experience spans over 32 years and reflects a range of positions including: Teacher, Center Director, District Office Educational Specialist and District Writing Specialist. You can purchase her book on Amazon. The Book Discussion was followed by an author signing and light refreshments.

Inspiring Individual

Miramar Resident Writes About the Dark Side of Miami in His Debut Novel BY JILL SHARPE

B

ack in the 1980’ s no

one would have dreamed that Miramar resident Robert Earl would someday write a successful novel. Back then, Earl was into drugs and on the run. Today, he has turned his life around and recently published his debut novel which gives a gritty glimpse into the world he left behind on the streets of Miami. In “Miami Contingent,” Earl draws from his own experiences and writes about the way it was in Overtown back in the day. His writing is inspired by his countless experiences from living in the dark abyss of drug addiction for more than 20 years. “The book is about the Miami that I knew, not the Miami on your postcards or in popular TV shows,” said Earl. “I wanted to tell real stories in real worlds, uncensored, so that people can relate to them and walk away thinking and pondering.” The main character in “Miami Contingent” is eleven-year-old Renee Jenkins, a

vivacious, bright girl who had the seemingly unfortunate fate of being born into the notorious Jenkins clan, in an area of Miami where a knock at the door warrants carrying a 9 mm pistol for protection. Renee must maneuver her way through the asphalt jungle of Miami’s dangerous Overtown as she strives to find happiness in a world consumed by death, despair, drugs and pain. As the story develops, Renee is kept busy caring for her younger brother Sean and dreams of becoming a doctor. But what Renee doesn’t know is there is a storm coming to Overtown that has the power to change everything. Earl said the response he has received has been overwhelming. “Barnes and Noble in Pembroke Gardens hosted a book signing for me and 150 people showed up on a rainy day,” he said. Earl was also invited to Miami Lakes Senior High School for Black History month and he was invited to speak to a group of kids at the Overtown Youth Center. “Talking to the kids was really gratifying,” said Earl. “My message to them was to stay in school and not waste their time. The kids looked up to me because my experiences are proof that you can always change for the better.” Miami Contingent is available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The hardcover book sells for $27.92 and the E-Book is available for $3.99.

Students From Miramar High School Compete at Harvard Speech and Debate Tournament BY JILL SHARPE

T

en Patriots from M iramar H igh School (MHS) recently visited

the land of the New England Patriots, Paul Revere, and Bunker Hill to compete in the 41st Annual Harvard National Forensics Tournament. This trip of a lifetime saw members of the MHS debate team match wits with some of the best and the brightest students from around the country over President’s Day weekend. Ariana Gonzalez Greene is in her second year teaching speech and debate at MHS and took 10 students to the Harvard competition, including two first-year debate novices. “It’s a higher level tournament, very prestigious, and with a high level of competition,” she said. “The students got to see all of their hard work from throughout the year pay off.” The debate program at MHS started out with only a handful of members but has undergone tremendous growth in a short period of time. Approximately 175 students opt to take the Honors and Advanced Placement level speech and debate classes and about 30 students are active in the debate club itself. “We’re a young program, but we have very high hopes and big ambitions,” said Gonzalez Greene. “The biggest benefits students get out of participating in debate are confidence and maturity. They have to practice, perform in class and research their own cases. It takes a lot of intrinsic motivation.” Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie has made speech and debate a priority, even partnering with the national “Communicators in the Classroom” initiative started by the National Speech and Debate

Association in 2012 to increase the number of school districts that take part in debate by providing resources such as textbooks, learning tools and materials to schools in need of assistance. Since then, the school district has worked to create and strengthen speech and debate curriculums at all 15 public high schools in the county. While the MHS team approached their traveling as a business trip, their time up north provided many more benefits than initially expected. “It was the first time some of the students had left Miramar and since we were in Boston in the middle of a blizzard, it was the first time many of them had seen snow,” Gonzalez Greene said. “When we talk about going to college now, it’s different for the students since they’ve now seen what college life is like. It pushes them to a different level.” The MHS debate program plans to build on their success and stay on the national stage. In the 2015-2016 academic year, they will be traveling to Princeton University and the University of California at Berkeley to compete in more of the top tournaments. Miramar High School is looking for community members to help sponsor the debate team or volunteer as judges. There are no qualifications or experience necessary for either opportunity. For more information, contact Ariana Gonzalez-Greene at ariana.gonzalezgreene@browardschools.com.

Aging and Your Eyes: Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) By Dr. Michael Chesen

D

id you know that age related macular

degeneration (AMD) is one of the foremost causes of vision loss in individuals over the age of 65? AMD is a condition that affects the macula of the retina which is responsible for clear central vision. Age Related Macular Degeneration Indications The first warning signs of AMD are often fuzzy vision and spots in the center of vision. Since the symptoms typically come on slowly without any pain, symptoms may not be detected until more severe vision loss is apparent. For this reason, it is very important to schedule a routine eye examination, particularly after the age of 65. What are the Risk Factors for Age Related Macular Degeneration? If you are of Caucasian decent, over 65 years of age, a smoker who consumes a diet low in nutrients or has family members that have had AMD, you are at higher risk of developing the disease. Any individual that is at increased risk should make certain to have a yearly eye exam. Discussing proper nutrition with your optometrist can also help lower your risk of developing AMD. Dry AMD and Wet AMD In general, AMD is typically diagnosed as either dry or wet. The dry form is found more frequently and may be a result of advanced age and macular tissue thinning or pigment build-up in the macula. The wet form is also known as neovascular age related macular degeneration. It results from the growth of new blood vessels beneath the retina, which leak blood that destroys the retinal cells and results in blind spots in the central vision. Often wet AMD is the more serious of the two. Macular Degeneration Treatment While there isn’t cure for AMD, certain treatments exist that can delay the progression. Depending on whether one has dry or wet macular degeneration, the course of treatment may involve laser surgery or medical injections or in some cases, dietary supplements. In either case, early detection and treatment is essential. Dr. Chesen will also be able to recommend devices to help you deal with any visual difficulty that you have already sustained. Vision loss that cannot be corrected by eyeglasses, contact lenses or surgical procedures is called low vision. There are a growing number of low vision devices that can be used today that can make everyday activities easier. You can save your vision by being aware of the risk factors and signs of AMD. Visit Dr. Chesen to learn more about AMD and low vision. To make an appointment with Dr. Michael Chesen, call 954437-9733. Pearle Vision is located at 2909 SW 160 Ave., in Miramar.

Most Common Mistakes by Homeowners Attempting to Obtain a Loan Modification By Omar J. Arcia, Esq., Foreclosure Defense and Bankruptcy Protection Attorney

A

s a result of various nationwide class actions and lawsuits

filed against mortgage companies by private individuals and government agencies, lenders have become more receptive and willing to assist homeowners in modifying their loans. However, lenders have also become more demanding of certain documentation to support loan modification requests. These are the most common mistakes homeowners make when processing a loan modification on their own. Provide too much information. Most Homeowners believe that the more information they provide to their lender about their finances, the more likely their loan modification will be approved. Just the opposite is true. Most lenders are looking for specific information regarding a homeowner’s income and expenses, specific reasons to support a financial hardship for a loan modification, and they require a specific order and timeframe to submit the required documents. Overwhelming your lender with the same unnecessary documents time and time again will only place your file farther back in line for consideration. The Arcia Law Firm has represented homeowners that have been trying to modify their home loan on their own for years, and within just a few months after retaining the Firm and submitting the appropriate documents, a loan modification is achieved. Last year, the Arcia Law Firm successfully modified over 130 loans, and so far we have modified more than 40 loans this year. Refusing to seek legal assistance. We have counseled hundreds of clients in mortgage related cases through the years, and the most significant mistake that homeowners make is to wait until the last minute to hire a knowledgeable and experienced attorney. Many homeowners think that they can easily defend themselves in a foreclosure proceeding, process their own loan modification, and save their home. However, some of the legal defenses to a foreclosure are highly technical and require specialized knowledge. The attorneys representing banks and the judges overseeing in these cases are interested in obtaining a final judgment of foreclosure, sale of the property at a public auction and closing the case. In more simple terms, this means you are out of your home before you can finish your loan modification. The key to preventing this end result is for every homeowner either in foreclosure or at risk of foreclosure, to stop playing “Russian Roulette” with their family home, and immediately hire a highly qualified law firm to assist them. The attorneys at the Arcia Law Firm are privileged to successfully represent hundreds of homeowners in our community. We have foreclosure defense, loan modification and bankruptcy departments. You can view videos and testimonials of our satisfied clients at our website under “Success Stories.” Detailed explanations of different options available to homeowners are also discussed in a consumer DVD developed by the Arcia Law Firm entitled “Fight for Your Home.” If you mention that you heard about the DVD through this magazine, you will receive a complimentary copy during your free consultation to discuss your case in detail.

Main Office: 3350 SW 148th Ave. Suite 405, Miramar, FL 33027 Available for Consultation: Miami • Orlando

If you are struggling to make your monthly mortgage payments, if you are in the middle of a frustrating loan modification process, or if you just received foreclosure papers, contact the Arcia Law Firm today at 954-437-9066 to schedule a free personal consultation with Omar Arcia, or visit www.arcialawfirm.com to schedule your appointment online.

S

o, you have your home for sale , but it ’ s not

selling? We are approaching the next cycle in real estate, leading towards a balanced market whereby neither buyers nor sellers have the “edge.” If your home is listed for sale and not selling, there is reason for concern. A home doesn’t sell due to an array of circumstances, several of which you can manage successfully. Some of the most important challenges that can lead to this are: Price it correctly at fair market value from the beginning. If you failed to price it appropriately when you initially listed the property, more likely than not your home will have interest from buyers, but fail to attract any offers. The “why” for this is pretty simple…..would you buy an overpriced home if you were the buyer? Even if the price is lowered after the home is listed for a period of time, you will have lost the momentum of the initial listing period and the majority of buyers will assume that there is something wrong with the home. Pricing your home at fair market value from the onset is the best decision you will ever make in the process! The condition of the home is a key ingredient. Sellers should look at the home from a potential buyer’s perspective. Buyers have high expectations; therefore, the home needs to be consistently clean, neat, de-cluttered and depersonalized. This will help the buyers visualize themselves living there. Your home curb appeal is of the utmost importance; therefore, a trim, yet cozy appearance, and careful landscaping will give the buyer a warm sense of wanting to enter the home to begin with. Marketing matters! Oh does it matter! The power of being able to sell is simply the Multiple Listing Service and the hundreds of websites that your home is syndicated to from this. Ninety-seven percent of buyers first go online to look at properties to begin their search. Therefore, it’s important that your home as multiple professionally looking photos that will make it look as alluring as possible. A home listed without photos or very few photos is unlikely to draw considerable interest. Hire the right Realtor for the job of selling your home. Selling your home is one of, if not, the largest financial decisions you will ever make in your lifetime. Hire a Realtor who is knowledgeable about the area. Your success is dependent on this. A full-time, seasoned Realtor with experience that has seen the ups and downs of the market brings the necessary knowledge and expertise to the potential sale. Experienced seasoned agents also tend to know and have relationships with other Realtors and industry professionals, which results in smoother transactions. Patrick Simm, Managing Director of the Simmsational Real Estate Group at Keller Williams Realty Partners SW, can be contacted at 954-709-8258 for all your Real Estate related questions and/or inquiries. It’s no surprise that you wonder, “Have I done all that I can to keep them safe?” Many parents are stunned to discover that in medical emergencies they may not be entitled to medical information about their college-aged children. Why? Because, in the eyes of the law, your 18-year old is an adult. Legally, parents have no standing to know or do anything. In an emergency, how will health care providers know whom to call with urgent news? Will they know your child’s prior medical history? Oftentimes, they simply won’t. What’s worse, even if a parent learns of a child’s illness or accident, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) prohibits doctors and hospitals from providing information about an adult’s medical condition without his/her written consent. While some hospitals make reasonable judgments about giving information to parents, others have refused to reveal anything, least of all over the phone. Some may not even acknowledge to frantic parents whether their adult child has been admitted to a hospital. What can a parent do? It’s simple. Have your adult child execute advance directives , which include the following: ▸▸ HIPPA Authorization for Release of Protected Health Information. Grants health care providers permission to disclose medical information, which is essential to informed and timely decision-making, to designated individuals. ▸▸ Health Care Power of Attorney. A document that authorizes another person to make medical decisions for you, if you cannot. ▸▸ Living Will. A declaration stating whether or not life-sustaining procedures should be used to prolong life when a terminal condition is irreversible or death is imminent. ▸▸ Emergency Information and Contact List. An organized, updated and concise presentation of prior medical history, allergies, and emergency contact information. Advance directives and emergency contact information should be immediately available when urgently needed, or the information is useless. We strongly recommend that every adult carry in his/her wallet an emergency medical information card that makes health/contact information and advance directives instantly available to medical facilities anywhere in the world 24/7/365. Your estate planning attorney can prepare these advance directives, and arrange for an emergency medical card, for less than you think. As new doors and new worlds open for your college-bound children, your role as parent does not diminish. Do all you can to protect your precious offspring. Your child may be an adult in the eyes of the law, but in your heart they’ll always be your baby. Slender Fit U Makes Dieting Easy By Debby Teich

S

lender Fit U is helping clients turn their

bodies into fat burning machines. They are losing 1/2 to 2 pounds of fat per day without exercise, diet pills or packaged foods, and they are keeping it off. The medically supervised program helps dieters modify their relationship with food and eating, resulting in an easily maintained, longterm weight loss. It is the last diet they will ever need to do. Geri Kelleher, Owner and Program Director, answered some commonly asked questions about the program. Why do people call you the “HCG Guru”? Eight years ago, I lost 25 lbs. on the diet and it changed my life. For the past seven years, I have helped thousands of people achieve their weight loss goals with this program. The best part of my job is seeing people change before my eyes and watching them get their confidence back. Geri Kelleher, Owner and How does Slender Program Director Fit U differ from similar programs? My clients tell me that the difference is the way we treat people. We stay involved with all of our clients; they are not just a number. If they miss an appointment, we call them. We make sure that every client gets the proper guidance and support throughout the program and achieves their weight loss goals. Also, we don’t water down the HCG. We give it in the strongest dosage for weight loss. We also give injectable prescription B12. How much can clients expect to lose? Clients can choose a 23-day program or a 46-day program. Women typically lose 15 lbs. in the 23-day program

and up to 30 lbs. in the 46-day program. Men typically lose more - 20 to 25 lbs. in 23 days and 40 to 50 lbs. in 46 days. What is HCG? HCG (Human Chronic Gonadotropin) is a complex amino-peptide protein that exists in men and women. During pregnancy, it is produced in very high levels and almost completely controls the metabolic function. In non-pregnant individuals, research suggests HCG similarly increases the metabolism. Does the HCG have side effects? There are no side effects reported while using HCG for weight loss. The amount of HCG used in the diet protocol is a very tiny dose. Because it is a natural substance, this program is completely safe. What makes the diet so effective? Unlike other “diets,” this program reshapes and re-sculpts the body by releasing abnormal fat deposits. Every pound you lose is a pound of FAT, which is very different from losing a pound of weight. You are not losing muscle mass, or water. You also lose multiple inches and dress sizes and your shape changes. Do clients keep the weight off? Ninety percent of Slender Fit U clients keep the weight off. After completing the program successfully, they support and rebalance their metabolisms. In addition to losing unwanted abnormal fat, they modify their relationship with food and eating, resulting in easily maintained, long-term weight loss. Are clients medically supervised? Yes. Every patient has a comprehensive physical with the medical doctor before starting the program, as well as one-on-one counseling throughout the program. This is included in the price.

A

pril Claxton recently

lost 40 pounds in only six weeks at Slender Fit U. She was anxious to share her story to motivate others to do the same. Why did you decide to lose weight? I have always been chunky. When I turned 35, my body started responding differently and I gained a lot of weight. I had difficulty breathing, walking and sleeping. I always felt swollen and tired, and spent most of my time at home on the couch. I have tried every diet out there. I was contemplating surgery, but decided April Claxton lost 40 lbs. in six weeks. to try Slender Fit U first. What were your results? I am 5’6. I started the program at 296 lbs. and lost 40 of them in only six weeks. I am excited to lose the rest. How do you feel now? In only six weeks, I am like a different person. I am now exercising and have gotten rid of several medications, including one for high blood pressure. I feel empowered, more confident and very sexy. People are looking at me instead of past me. I feel pretty and alive! Why were you more successful with Slender Fit U than other diets? I never had a real coach who supported me throughout the process. Geri answered all of my questions and helped me stay on track. She wanted me to succeed as much as I did. In addition, I saw instant results, with a 10 lb. loss in only ten days. When I saw how well my body responded, I knew I had found the right program.

Does the diet involve exercise? Exercise is not required and does not improve your end result. It is a scientific program and it is the combination of the HCG and the low calorie diet that produces the weight/fat loss. However, exercise is allowed.

Can you purchase HCG over the counter? No. Real HCG cannot be purchased over the counter. The HCG comes in both an injectable and an oral form from the pharmacy. Consultations are free and by appointment. For information and to see more before and after photos, visit www.SlenderFitU.com or call 954-423-1376.

Is the diet easy? To quote one of my clients, “Besides being the most effective diet I have ever gone on, this was the easiest diet I have ever been on. Almost every morning when I got on the scale, my weight would be down. No long workouts, no agonizing hunger pains. That’s how great this diet is.” What foods are on the diet? There are no packaged meals. You are eating real food from the grocery store that includes protein, fruit and vegetables. This makes it an easy transition onto stabilization, as well as regular eating and regular life.

Lost 30 lbs. in six weeks.

38

APRIL 2015 | OUR CITY MIRAMAR

Are patients hungry on the diet? Eighty percent of people experience no hunger on the Slender Fit U program. They even find very tiny servings to be completely satisfying. HCG dieters usually feel as though they are stuffing themselves in order to reach that 800 calorie limit!

Lost 50 lbs. in six weeks.

Slender Fit U leads the industry. Here’s why: • “Do one thing, and do it well” – we help you lose weight and keep it off. That’s all. We’re focused on changing lives. • We offer prescription HCG in the strongest available dosage. • Each client gets a physical with one of our Medical Directors: Robert Berman, D.O., D. Pitts M.D., and Sultan Ahmed M.D. • Personal guidance and support the whole way through – and after. • Prescription B12 and Prescription Oral HCG also provided.
