Urgent Care The best way to avoid getting the flu is to get a flu shot. And now you can get yours at a local Broward Health Urgent Care. The flu refers to common strains of viruses that go around each year, mainly in the fall and winter. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. People at high risk include young children, pregnant women, people with asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease and anyone aged 65 and older. So come get yours at your local Broward Health Urgent Care. It’s part of doing whatever it takes to keep Broward healthy. For more information visit BrowardHealth.org/UrgentCare or call one of our three locations to assist you. Walk-ins welcome. Coral Springs 954.320.3323 Weston 954.217.5700 Plantation 954.320.3360

Happy New Year Everyone!

T

he holiday season has come to an end and we have returned to our daily work routines. As we try to recover from all the festivities, the get-togethers with friends and families and the holiday feasts, we now wonder what the year of 2016 has in store for us. For Our City Media, the New Year brings another expansion. On behalf of my staff, I am excited to announce that we are once again growing our family of publications. Starting in March, we will be expanding our local community news magazines to reach an additional 20,000+ homes and businesses in the City of Aventura as well as Sunny Isles Beach. The new Our City Aventura magazine will provide our readers with important and timely community and school news stories while allowing local and regional businesses to reach the residents of those communities. Starting this month, residents of Plantation and Sunrise will now benefit from learning what is happening in these neighboring cities with expanded community news coverage in Our City Plantation magazine, now serving residents and businesses in both Plantation and Sunrise. As we embark on a New Year and new ventures, let me take this opportunity to wish all of our readers and advertisers a happy and healthy New Year from all of us at Our City Media!

Firefighters Feed and Entertain 3000 Residents at 59th Annual Barbeque BY JILL SHARPE

T

COMMUNITY NEWS

he Plantation Volunteer Fire Association (PVFA) hosted yet another successful barbeque event on November 1st as 3000 Plantation residents enjoyed chicken, ribs, and corn on the cob while listening to live music by the GrooveDogz. Cooking began very early in the morning as hot coals were shoveled into the cooking pits at the 59th annual event. It’s an annual tradition for many civic leaders to come out dark and early and help cook. Helping out this year were Plantation Information Technology Director Robert Castro, Police Chief Howard Harrison, Westside Regional CEO Barbara Simmons, Westside Chief Operating Officer John Gerhold, and Westside Emergency Department Director Jessica Fischer. The Plantation Fire Department’s award winning honor guard displayed the colors during the opening ceremonies accompanied by the Black Pearl Pipers of Broward County and a character parade. Kids enjoyed pony rides and bounce houses located in the Kids Zone, which were a new addition this year. The Fire Sprinkler Association also provided a live fire demonstration which illustrated the difference between a home protected by sprinklers and one that is not. Attendees also enjoyed getting an up close tour of the Sky 10 Helicopter and meeting award winning journalist and Plantation volunteer firefighter Robin Russell. Russell and the Sky 10 helicopter recently received national attention for being first on scene of a plane crash in the Everglades. “We had a great crowd all day,” said Jon Hatch, PVFA President. “It was hot but we had great food, great music, lots of fun and we got to share with great friends.”

Plantation Music Artist Releases New Funk Soul Music Single Community News

BY JILL SHARPE

M

usical talent is alive and well in Plantation as singer April Raquel recently released her new funk soul music single, “Nobody Does It Better,” the first off her upcoming EP scheduled for release early this year. The song is available as a digital download on iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay and other digital music outlets. The single is an upbeat track made for dancing. “It’s a big song, all live instrumentation; there’s horns, percussion, keys, guitar, bass” said Raquel “...this music is an honest experience for me. My essence is sprinkled throughout the song, it best represents who I am as an artist.” Produced by South Florida producer and bass player, Todrick Hunter, the single tells the story of a confident female’s declarations. Co-written by Hunter and Raquel; Nobody Does It Better offers a big sound and vocal arrangement. Raquel began her career on the stage as a model/entertainer during her time as a student at Florida A&M University. It was that taste of life in the spotlight that made her want to pursue a career in the arts and performing. Immediately after school, she honed her skills in Los Angeles, California and eventually settled back home in South Florida. Her acting credits include on-screen appearances in the motion picture “Hair Show,” starring Academy Award nominated actresses, Mo-Nique and Taraji P. Henson as well as an appearance in the hit sitcom “The Parkers”. Additionally, she was a featured model in the music videos “I Like the Way You Move” and “Hey Ya!” for the multi-platinum, international group, Outkast. Described as an electrifying performer, reminiscent of a modern-day Tina Turner, her show is dubbed the Urban, Rock, Soul, Funk Experience. Raquel and her band, Kouture Funk, performs covers and her original music in small to midsize venues throughout the Atlantic coast. The band is currently performing every Monday night at Ocean’s Ten on Miami Beach, Florida. For more information, visit www.aprilraquel.com.

P

lantation resident Anthony Moritt, author and advocate for those who have been diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome (TS) and other neurological complexities, announced the publication of Mental Anarchy: Tourette’s Syndrome and American Dystopia. His distinctive voice and passion for bringing to light the realities of this diagnosis are evident in this debut book that chronicles his journey dealing with the various symptoms and issues associated with TS. Moritt, who grew up in Broward County, attended North Broward Preparatory School and then earned a Bachelor’s Degree in history from Florida Gulf Cost University, said he wrote the book because he felt there was no one to represent those who have TS and says he believes society has failed people with neurological disabilities. It is not known exactly how many people have TS, however a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ((CDC) study found that 1 of every 360 children 6 through 17 years of age and living in the United States have been diagnosed with TS based on parent report.

From war and peace with family members, teachers, doctors and classmates to navigating the rocky roads of romance, Anthony’s unwavering, fearless honesty is the foundation of his book – and his life. Mental Anarchy is a raw but riveting account of one man’s struggles and successes in the face of difficult obstacles through a series of essays and stories that illustrate his life. While other books have explored the pains of growing up with Tourette’s Syndrome, Moritt’s perspective takes a head-on approach to society’s view of people who seem different. He is at once demanding and unapologetic. His book opens with the breakup of a serious romance, and follows his life, both in flashback and moving forward, with unflinching and sometimes brutal realities. “We are unique; we are intelligent, athletic, beautiful, talented, and misunderstood by society,” he says in the opening pages. From there, readers find themselves beside him on his roller coaster of intense emotions. “My goal in writing this began as a personal catharsis, but soon evolved into a passion for examining my life – and where those who may be perceived as different fit into today’s America,” said Moritt. “I am not a doctor and don’t pretend to know all the answers—but I do know what has worked and has failed with me. I’ve learned more from the failures – but enjoyed the successes far more!”

I

t was an exciting night as participants and attendees anxiously awaited the crowning of the 2016 Miss ARC Broward Pageant winner. Families, friends and nearly 1,000 community supporters came to celebrate the twenty girls with disabilities who participated in the third annual Miss ARC Broward Pageant at the Historic Parker Playhouse. The event was founded by ARC Broward, a nonprofit agency that supports those with disabilities and other life challenges by encouraging and providing opportunities throughout Broward County. Events such as this one give young girls the confidence and ability to showcase their talents during the personality round, to share their unique abilities Arushi Gupta. Photos by: Marissa Kelly in the interview round and shine in the eveningwear round. However, the real beauty of a pageant such as this is that no one leaves empty-handed, everyone is a winner. Leading up to the big day were a series of events in which the girls and their families got to meet and get to know each other. They enjoyed an ice cream social, Tanya Bower’s Afternoon Tea Party, The Eppy Group’s Touchdown and Tiara event and a day at the Casbah Spa and Salon. Prior to the pageant the contestants were pampered with hair and makeup treatments from Chateaux Skin and the Beauty Anatomy Institute.

What ARC Broward is doing for these young women is exceptional and monumental, not only for their growth but for the growth of the general public and the future for women with disabilities.” Lola Suarez Since its inception, the pageant has nearly tripled in size and has not only changed the lives of the participants, but also has brought the community together to celebrate, accept and support those with different and special abilities. South Plantation High Stages a Delightful Production of “Singing in the Rain” SCHOOL NEWS

BY JORDAN KHANDAKJI

“S

inging in the Rain,” the tap dancing, catchy song sensation that brought Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynold’s together, was recently performed in a week’s worth of show-stopping performances at South Plantation High School (SPHS) in November. The classic musical from 1952 arrived at the Paladin Playhouse on opening night November 12th. “Singing in the Rain” takes place in the 1920s, when movies went from silent films to “talking pictures.” Characters Don Lockwood, (played by Jemarcus Riggins), and Lina Lamont, (played by Hannah Singer) who played lovers on screen were Monumental Pictures’ most beloved silent film actors, but when movies with sound became the new “in” thing it was a challenge to adjust particularly for Lamont as many thought her voice sounded like a screeching cat from the Bronx. Even from the audience, one could envision the behind the scenes antics that made up this show, whether it was the characters arguing or laughing with each other, or even creating unusual relationships. The chemistry between the actors was undeniable, including the interaction of Don and his love interest Kathy Selden (played by Tajah Lee) as well as the cherished friendship between Don and his right hand man Cosmo Brow. The SPHS Paladin production also did not mess around when it came to tap dancing. It was obvious that the cast put a lot of time and effort into practicing to make sure they did the film justice. This is most clearly seen during the song

“Moses Supposes” when both Dom Lockwood and Cosmo Brown, (played by Jesse Castellanos) showed off their dance moves in a very humorous fashion. “There is pretty much dancing through the whole thing, almost every song someone’s tap dancing,” said Kalei Tischler, who played Zelda Zanders, Lina Lamont’s friend and insider. The crew in the SPHS production also outdid themselves with the makeup, costumes and set. They even found a way to incorporate actual rain when Don Lockwood had his famous “Singing in the Rain” number. Directed by Jason Zembuch, who celebrated his 24th production at SPHS, choreographed by Ron Hutchins, who has been choreographing for SPHS for eight years, and Danielle Singer, teacher as the music director, this play could have not been more put together. All the actors, dancers, signers (all SPHS productions incorporate the use of American sign-language during every play), and the orchestra did an outstanding job, while the audience almost appeared to don yellow raincoats. In the Paladin Playbill Jesse Castellanos, who played Cosmo, asked audience members to “Sit back, grab and umbrella, and enjoy the show!” and that’s just what the audience did. It wouldn’t be surprising if someone who attended was seen skipping and singing in the rain on their way out. Jordana Khandakji is a sophomore at South Plantation High and is a staff writer for the school’s newspaper, the Sword & Shield.

Student Actors at American Heritage Put on a Raw and Beautiful Performance of “Next to Normal” BY JILL SHARPE

M

ost high schools wouldn’t even think about attempting to stage the haunting “Next to Normal” as it deals with subjects that are heavy even for adults. One of the few musicals to win a Pulitzer Prize for drama, this show does not leave audiences feeling happy and carefree like many other musicals. Instead, you feel emotionally exhausted. It’s not an easy show to watch and you can bet it’s not an easy show to perform. Next to Normal deals with subjects such as mental illness, codependency, drug abuse, and grief. It’s a show that proves musical theater can be so much more than frothy entertainment. This show is real, poignant and deeply emotional which makes it a challenging endeavor for any theater troupe. That is why it is was so amazing to see high school students attempt this show. The intimate cast of six students at American Heritage admitted that the experience was not easy but oh..it was so worth it. “Next to Normal” is a contemporary family drama about a woman’s struggle with mental illness, and the effects of her illness on her family. At first Diana seems to have an ideal life; she is educated, creative, well-off, and happily married with two teenage children. But it soon becomes clear that all is not as it seems. Diana has bipolar disorder, and her symptoms, anxiety, mood swings, and hallucinations, are growing worse with time. Diana takes medication, talks through her issues and problems with a psychiatrist, and undergoes the more controversial option of electroconvulsive therapy. Meanwhile, her husband, Dan confronts his own confusion and depression; her daughter Natalie deals

18

JANUARY 2016 | OUR CITY PLANTATION

with isolation and a budding romance with a fellow music student, Henry and son, Gabe, serves as Diana’s confidante and link to a happier past. Although the family strives to establish some sort of normalcy, the ties that bind slowly and inexorably unravel around them. Mikayla Cohen, a senior at American Heritage, gave a powerful performance as Diana, taking her to all her highs and lows, a voice full of emotion. Dylan Erdelyi, a junior, gave a mature and believable performance as Dan, the caregiver in the family who sacrificed himself to take care of everyone else. Hannah Ellowitz, performed her dream role of Natalie flawlessly with an effortlessly beautiful voice imbuing the character with all the angst, despair and hopefulness of a teenager. And Jacob Greene, in his first role at American Heritage, gave a passionate performance as Gabe. Rounding out the six-person cast were Elliot Mahon, sweet and funny with a stand-out singing voice as Natalie’s “perfect for you” boyfriend, and the powerfulvoiced Diego Vazquez-Gomez as the doctors. Working with such a small cast on such an intimate show, the actors were really forced to come together as a unit which Erdelyi said was the most interesting aspect of the show for him. Greene agreed and said “as an ensemble we pushed each other to be better and better each day.” Greene also commented on how overwhelmed the cast felt to move an audience to tears and everyone felt that they developed a deeper understanding of those who suffer from mental illness. “Being able to portray such a true slice of life was an amazing experience and an absolute honor,” said Ellowitz.

Westpine Middle School Students Send Prayers to Paris

School News

By: Beverly Perkins

S

ocial Studies and Peer Counseling teacher at Westpine Middle School, Sandy Tepper, had the unfortunate discussion with her classes about tragedy in the world after the terror attacks in Paris this past fall. All of her five classes felt the need to somehow offer their condolences. Together these 6th, 7th and 8th grade students decided it would be a nice gesture to create sympathy cards to send across the ocean. Tepper collected all the cards and was planning on sending them directly to the American Embassy in France. Coincidentally, at this time she received a call from her good friend, Ken Evans. Evans, who happens to be a Broward County Democratic State Commiteeman, offered to hand-deliver these cards himself since he had a trip scheduled to Paris the following week. “It was such a kind gesture, that we couldn’t refuse the opportunity to have our notes delivered in such a personal way”, said Tepper. Along with all his personal items, Evans packed up the hundreds of colorful and heartwarming messages and passed them out to those mourning at the various memorials he attended. Furthermore, the Commiteeman documented the trip through photos as he mingled with the citizens of Paris. Upon his return to the States, he visited Ms. Tepper’s students and presented a slide show which he made with all the images. The students were able to see the connection they made with complete strangers in another country and witness how small sentiments of sympathy made such a powerful impact. The act of kindness comforted grief stricken people in such an aftermath of terror. “The students were thrilled to see French citizens actually holding the cards they made”, says Tepper. “It was a lesson in kindness on so many levels, and truly inspiring to see some smiles in the midst of such profound pain. I’m retiring from teaching in June, after over thirty years, and I couldn’t have a more meaningful memory than this”. Westpine Middle School is located at 9393 NW 50th St, Sunrise. Bair Middle School Prepares the Students of Today to be the Professionals of Tomorrow By Beverly Perkins

A

s an official Broward County Public School Innovative Program school, Bair Middle School offers their students unique opportunities to earn additional high school credits and Microsoft Industry Certifications while in middle school. Besides their JADA (Junior Advanced and Digital Academy and the LEEO (Linking Education and Employment Opportunities) programs, students are thriving in their STEM program. The STEM program provides students with experiences and hands on activities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Projects include units on rocketry, aerodynamics, Lego robotics, CAD through Minecraft, and bridge design. Recently, STEM students participated in an engineering workshop with structural engineers Steve Hedge and Brad Gersh, of Hardesty and Hanover, a full-service infrastructure engineering firm in the city of Sunrise, and civil engineer Randy Daniel, a Sunrise resident. The interaction allowed them to learn with industry professionals who represent a firm with 120 years of experience in solving complex engineering challenges. This also gave them the hands on opportunity to

work with and showcase the bridges they designed and constructed. During “Computer Science Education Week” the STEM students also participated in the largest learning event in history, “Hour of Code”. This special event allowed these 21st century students to take part in creating the technology that’s changing our world for at least one hour during this time. This global movement has more than 100 million learners in 180 countries. Computer science is the foundation which helps nurture creativity and problemsolving skills and prepares students for any future career. The overall purpose is to expose both boys and girls to the fundamental concepts of computing on an equal level while inspiring them to build technology. “STEM is a very popular program with students, and is gratifying because of the rich academic skills and content it brings to the classroom,” says Dian Emrith, Bair Middle School Language Arts Chairperson. Bair Middle School is located at 9100 NW 21st Manor, Sunrise. For more information on Bair Middle School programs, please visit www.bair.browardschools.com or call (754)322-2900.

Legally Speaking

No Easy Answer By Evan Baron

I

have been practicing law for over 36 years. I realized many years ago that allowing a judge or jury to make a decision in a case is always a last resort. Cases that ultimately proceed to trial involve either issues that cannot be compromised or individuals who can be unreasonable in their expectations. If you proceed to trial, your ability to control your destiny is severely compromised. You are allowing a third party to dictate the terms and conditions of your future. I can assure you that Judges much prefer to approve a settlement reached by the parties than to decide the fate of individuals. Judges often tell the respective parties that they will always be better off deciding the case between themselves, rather than have he/she decide some of these issues. They are further informed that a judge’s job is to be fair and equitable, which means that after the trial is over both parties usually leave the courthouse unhappy, neither obtaining what they were seeking. Of course that is not always true. There are obviously times when parties’ expectations are within reason and the results obtained at trial are satisfactory.

So how do you know when you should settle versus the alternative of going to trial? That is sometimes a very difficult question to answer. A lawyer can never guarantee results. A lawyer can advise a client about the law as it applies to the facts of his/her case. Often times judges have a great deal of discretion in their decision making, which makes any kind of prediction that much more difficult. Lawyers also assume that a judge will interpret the law as the lawyer interprets it. That is not always the case. When offers or counter-offers are unreasonable and one-sided, it is somewhat easy to make a decision. If you have nothing to lose by going to trial, and your worst result in court is still better than the offer being made, it is an easy decision. The cases which present the more difficult decisions are the ones which result in offers which are perhaps fair, but not quite what a person may envision as their end result. Perhaps the time sharing schedule with the minor children is not quite what was envisioned or the alimony amount is more than you expected to pay. Do you compromise or litigate? There is no easy answer. Each case needs to be looked at independently. A party must consider all possibilities. Cost and time are two important factors. A case which proceeds to trial will always take longer to conclude. The cost will always be greater. I suggest hiring an experienced trial attorney who can assist you in deciding the best way to conclude your case. There really is no substitute for experience. The law firm of Evan H. Baron and Associates is located at 1655 North Commerce Parkway, Suite 201, in Weston. If you have any questions concerning this issue or any other family law matter, call the office at 954-385-9160.

Florida Medical center Brings HigH level eMergency care to soutH Broward county

We Invite You To Have Fun Painting Ceramics!

T

he future of emergency care has arrived in South Broward County with the opening of Florida Medical Center’s first freestanding Emergency Center. Residents of Davie and the surrounding communities now have a comfortable and convenient place to go for their emergency care needs – 24/7, 365 days a year. The new Emergency Center, just south of I-595 and west of Nob Hill Road, next to Imperial Electric and Lighting, is a special extension of Florida Medical Center. The Emergency Center is fully equipped and staffed to treat emergent conditions, such as lacerations, orthopedic and sports injuries, dehydration, abdominal pain, respiratory problems and head injuries. Open 24/7, the center offers the high quality care of a hospital-based ER in a comfortable atmosphere and in a convenient location. Patients have access to board certified emergency medicine physicians and registered nurses on Florida Medical Center’s medical staff. The 13,626-square-foot center houses 11 treatment rooms on the first floor. The second floor of the building houses the Imaging Center of West Broward, an expansion of the center in Sunrise, which will offer CAT scans and coronary computed tomography angiograms (CTAs). Nearly every day, Nicole Davis drove by Florida Medical Center’s new freestanding Emergency Center in Davie on her way home from work. She never knew the importance it would later play in her life. “One day in particular, I felt like my heart was coming out of my chest,” she recalls. “It was pounding really fast, and I had a feeling something was wrong. The staff saw me heading towards the entrance from the parking lot with my hands on my chest and quickly grabbed a wheelchair and opened the front doors for me,” she says. “I knew right away I was where I needed to be.” A nurse immediately tested Nicole’s heart rate and determined it was 210, two to three times faster than the normal range of 60 to 100 beats per minute. “The doctors and nurses who treated me sat down by my side and calmly explained everything they were going to do to get my heart rate back to normal,” she recalls. They gave Nicole medication, and once her heart rate went down, she was transported to Florida Medical Center for further treatment. Nicole’s doctor determined that the “pounding” she felt in her chest was a result of premature ventricular contractions, which are extra, abnormal heartbeats that disrupt the regular heart rhythm. Since leaving the hospital, she has been taking medication to help control her heart rate and hasn’t experienced anymore cardiac issues. “I felt like a VIP,” Nicole wrote. “I would definitely recommend both facilities to my loved ones. Keep up the good work!” The Emergency Center is located at 10230 W. State Road 84 in Davie. For more information, please visit www.ERcare247.com. ooking for the best checking account rates? How about lowering your car payment? This is a great time to get to know your local credit unions. Let’s get a fresh cup of coffee and discuss the credit union difference… What makes a credit union different from other financial institutions? Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives, owned and operated by their members. Earnings are returned to the members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest rates on deposits and lower fees. Credit unions are also governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by and from the credit union’s

membership. Recent changes in federal laws and regulations have made credit unions even stronger. Research shows that credit unions remain extremely popular for over 85 million Americans. An annual consumer survey completed by The American Banker, an independent publisher, confirmed that credit unions have been the favorite among consumers since 1983. How can I become a credit union member? Many people believe they are not eligible to join a credit union…..not so! By current federal statute, credit unions cannot serve the general public. However, many credit unions allow you to become a member based on qualifications such as, live or work in Broward County, your employer, Professional, Postal or Federal Employee. Please call your local credit union to find out how you can qualify to become a member. Once you become a member you will always be a member, even if you move away. Is my money safe in a credit union? Credit unions like other financial institutions are closely regulated. The National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government,

insures deposits of credit union members up to $250,000.00. Credit Unions seem to have limited locations… Over 5,005 credit unions around the country share locations to give members convenient access to their accounts. This service is called Shared Services. Just go to the website, locate shared services, enter the zip code of where you are and the addresses of the locations closest to you will appear. Technology? Credit Union members can manage their accounts anytime and anywhere through Mobile Banking, Bill Pay, Online Banking, Direct Deposit and Zip-24, an audio response system. If you prefer personal assistance with your finances, credit unions continue to offer professional and knowledgeable staff that will be happy to assist you. Slender Fit U Makes Dieting Easy What is HCG? HCG (Human Chronic Gonadotropin) is a complex amino-peptide protein that exists in men and women. During pregnancy, it is produced in very high levels and almost completely controls the metabolic function. In non-pregnant individuals, research suggests HCG similarly increases the metabolism.

Geri Kelleher, Owner and Program Director, answered some commonly asked questions about the program.

Does the HCG have side effects? There are no side effects reported while using HCG for weight loss. The amount of HCG used in the diet protocol is a very tiny dose. Because it is a natural substance, this program is completely safe.

Geri Kelleher, Owner and Program Director

Why do people call you the “HCG Guru”? Nine years ago, I lost 25 lbs. on the diet and it changed my life. For the past eight years, I have helped thousands of people achieve their weight loss goals with this program. The best part of my job is seeing people change before my eyes and watching them get their confidence back.

How does Slender Fit U differ from similar programs? My clients tell me that the difference is the way we treat people. We stay involved with all of our clients; they are not just a number. If they miss an appointment, we call them. We make sure that every client gets the proper guidance and support throughout the program and achieves their weight loss goals. Also, we don’t water down the HCG. We give it in the strongest dosage for weight loss. We also give injectable prescription B12. How much can clients expect to lose? Clients can choose a 23-day program or a 46-day program. Women typically lose 15 lbs. in the 23-day program and up to 30 lbs. in the 46-day program. Men typically lose more - 20 to 25 lbs. in 23 days and 40 to 50 lbs. in 46 days.

What makes the diet so effective? Unlike other “diets,” this program reshapes and resculpts the body by releasing abnormal fat deposits. Every pound you lose is a pound of FAT, which is very different from losing a pound of weight. You are not losing muscle mass, or water. You also lose multiple inches and dress sizes and your shape changes. Do clients keep the weight off? Ninety percent of Slender Fit U clients keep the weight off. After completing the program successfully, they support and rebalance their metabolisms. In addition to losing unwanted abnormal fat, they modify their relationship with food and eating, resulting in easily maintained, long-term weight loss. Are clients medically supervised? Yes. Every patient has a comprehensive physical with the medical doctor before starting the program, as well as one-on-one counseling throughout the program. This is included in the price. Does the diet involve exercise? Exercise is not required and does not improve your end result. It is a scientific program and it is the combination of the HCG and the low calorie diet that produces the weight/fat loss. However, exercise is allowed.

M

It’s Their Business

S

lender Fit U is helping clients turn their bodies into fat burning machines. They are losing 1/2 to 2 pounds of fat per day without exercise, diet pills or packaged foods, and they are keeping it off. The medically supervised program helps dieters modify their relationship with food and eating, resulting in an easily maintained, long-term weight loss. It is the last diet they will ever need to do.

ichael Guiliano recently lost 59 pounds on the diet. He was anxious to share his story to motivate others to do the same.

Why did you go on the diet? I was always

very thin. In the past few years, however, I gained some weight and my cholesterol and blood pressure became elevated. I was feeling very uncomfortable with myself and wanted to get back to my normal weight.

Was the diet difficult? The first week was challenging, but after that it was easy.

How are you feeling now? I am off my

cholesterol and blood pressure medications. I visit the gym four to five times a week and watch what I eat. I feel the best I have ever felt!

Michael Guiliano lost 59 pounds on the Slender Fit U diet.

Would you recommend the diet? I already recommended the diet to several people, who have also been successful on the program.

Is the diet easy? To quote one of my clients, “Besides being the most effective diet I have ever gone on, this was the easiest diet I have ever been on. Almost every morning when I got on the scale, my weight would be down. No long workouts, no agonizing hunger pains. That’s how great this diet is.”

Consultations are free and by appointment. For information and to see more before and after photos, visit www. SlenderFitU.com or call 954-423-1376.

What foods are on the diet? There are no packaged meals. You are eating real food from the grocery store that includes protein, fruit and vegetables. This makes it an easy transition onto stabilization, as well as regular eating and regular life. Are patients hungry on the diet? Eighty percent of people experience no hunger on the Slender Fit U program. They even find very tiny servings to be completely satisfying. HCG dieters usually feel as though they are stuffing themselves in order to reach that 800 calorie limit!

Jessica lost 38 lbs. in 6 weeks.

Can you purchase HCG over the counter? No. Real HCG cannot be purchased over the counter. The HCG comes in both an injectable and an oral form from the pharmacy.

Michael lost 59 lbs. in 9 weeks.

“Carl” & “Oliver”

Carl (10 years old) and Oliver (8 years old) are both male Tabby felines who both adore anyone who will feed them. They both love to play with “The Cat’s Meow” toy. They like to eat cat treats, sleep and wake their human parents at 3am. However, they dislike going to the vet, loud noises and large dogs. Besides eating and sleeping, their favorite thing is to be petted. They were both last seen sleeping on the sofa.
