Happy Halloween

I

f your family is like mine, Halloween is one of your kids’ favorite holidays. This seems a bit strange to me, when you think about the origins of this holiday. The word Halloween is a contraction for All Hallow’s Eve, a Christian day of remembrance believed to have been established in the 8th century by Pope Gregory III. It was a quiet somber day. So, how did we get from silently meditating about dead saints to carving pumpkins, overeating candy and dressing up like our favorite super-villain or princess? The answer, it seems, is that like many modern holidays, Halloween is actually an amalgamation of a number of different traditions. Historians believe that many of our current Halloween customs have their roots in the British Isles. In the 16th century, youths in parts of Ireland and Scotland would go from house to house impersonating old spirits. They would threaten mischief if they were not greeted and offered food. This is where the phrase “Trick or Treat” originated. Over time, these mostly Pagan traditions became commercialized to become the Halloween we know today: a day when children dress up as superheroes and collect candy; a time when teens participate in, hopefully, harmless pranks; and a night when young adults frequent parties, dressed as any number of things. However you chose to celebrate, have a Happy Halloween! Sincerely,

Terry Jaillet President & Publisher

JAFCO Hosts Back-to-School BBQ for Foster and Adoptive Families SECTION HEAD community news

BY JILL SHARPE

J

AFCO, a nonprofit whose mission is to care for abused and neglected children and those with disabilities in the Jewish community, hosted its Back-To-School BBQ for foster families, adoptive families and the children who reside at the Children’s Village. Almost 200 people, enjoyed an inflatable water slide, bounce houses, pony rides, face painting, magic, clowns, dancing and motorcycle rides. The children also picked from a wide array of school supplies that that were generously donated during a recent back-to-school drive. The children were provided with backpacks that they filled with supplies, giving them the tools they need for a successful school year. King David Bikers, a group of Jewish bikers that sponsors the BBQ every year, attended and gave the kids a thrilling ride around the village on their motorcycles. The group also raised $6,000 to benefit the children and the organization’s back-to-school supply effort. “The Back-to-School BBQ is something the kids look forward to every year. It’s like a family reunion” said Shelli Gold, Director of Development Operations at JAFCO. “The entire campus was turned into a giant block party. There was something for everyone and everyone left with a smile.” Several local business, organizations and helpers from the community contributed towards this event’s success. King David Bikers sponsored the event. Hair Cuttery provided fun hair styling and face painting. Volunteers from the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity donated their time to help with event setup. Boca Pointe Clowns on Call provided laughter and fun for the kids. The Kings Knights Foundation donated 90 Miami Marlins tickets for all the children to enjoy. For more information about JAFCO, please contact JAFCO Director of Development Shelli Gold at 954.315.8671 or email Shelli@jafco.org.

Swing for Seniors Golf Tournament Benefits the Needs of the Elderly BY JILL SHARPE

F

or the past 27 years, the Aging and Disability Resource Center, headquartered in Sunrise, has coordinated a golf tournament to raise critically needed monies for senior services in Broward County. Players, of all ages team together to compete in this event which begins in the early morning and culminates with a celebratory luncheon and awards ceremony.

Honorary Co-Chairs: (l) Alan Brass, C.P.A. and North Lauderdale Mayor Jack Brady

Since this is a “best ball” event, skill often takes a back seat to the laughter and conversation that highlights the occasion. Long drives are complimented by individual shots that display helpful skills that often culminate in winning scores. For the past five years, leadership of the tournament has been provided by Co-Chairs Campbell Epes and David Lieberman who are Aging and Disability Resource Center Advisory Council Members. Honorary Co-Chairs are Board Members Mayor Jack Brady of North Lauderdale and Alan Brass. The 2016 tournament is calendared on the 28th of October, at the Inverrary Golf and Country Club in Lauderhill. Sponsors and players presently are being sought. Cost is $150 per player and $600 for a foursome, and includes green fee, cart, golf shirt, goody bag, and tournament luncheon. The Prime Sponsor is Broward Health. For further information, please call Denise Jones, ADRC Community Coordinator, at 954-745-9567, ext. 10216. Edith Lederberg, Executive

Director of the Aging and Disability Resource Center, shared her sentiments regarding the players. “They swing for seniors drives home their dedication to over 412,750 year round Broward residents over 60 years of age.” North Lauderdale Mayor Jack Brady, Past President of the Areawide Council on Aging, applauds the event and notes “our tournament is dedicated toward winning the game, but the true victors are needy elders who will receive the nutriment of food and compassion because the players team to benefit the older community’s needs. Plantation resident and Areawide Council on Aging Past Board President, Alan Brass, sensing the sun and the camaraderie, shares his sentiments, “enjoying a day of golf and knowing that needy elders will be the beneficiaries of our caring have no par! We treasure the tournament especially because our wins bring hope to older seniors”.

BY JILL SHARPE

S

unrise based ARC Broward did its part to honor frontline workers who support people with disabilities and other life challenges during Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week September 11-17. ARC Broward, a nonprofit organization that provides services for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, hosted a number of appreciation events throughout the week. The festivities include two special luncheons, a “Wellness Day” provided by Baptist Health and Walgreens, breakfast and dinner delivered to community living residences and an ice cream social. Also, ARC Broward’s main Sunrise campus lobby was filled with hundred of cards of appreciation for DSPs from parents, relatives, volunteers and ARC Broward staff. Throughout the week, ARC Broward recognized a “DSP of the Day” each day on its social media sites. ARC Broward has nearly 200 dedicated and

hard-working Direct Support Professionals who support individuals in its residential homes, adult day programs, Workforce Division, ABLE (Alternative Behavioral Learning Environment) Afterschool and Camp Programs, Respite Care, Preschool and as parent educators. “I love being a DSP because it allows me to build meaningful relationships while providing quality support and assistance to men and women as they strive to achieve their life goals and desires,” said Vennis Ellis, one of six ARC Broward DSPs who recently attended the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals Conference in Atlanta, GA. “Being a Direct Support Professional, I get the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the individuals receiving services from ARC Broward. Each in their own way, show you a tremendous amount of appreciation,” said Jeff Pierre-Louis, who has been

working at ARC Broward for nearly four years now. Pierre-Louis also graduated from ARC Broward’s DS PATHS (Direct Support Professional Advancement through Training and Education in Human Services) program. Offered by ARC Broward Learning Institute, it provides individuals with skills necessary to be a high quality professional caregiver to support children and adults with disabilities. For more information, visit (www.arcbrowardlearning.com/dspaths). “We are very grateful for our Direct Support Professionals who work every day with skill and compassion to support the children and adults we serve,” said ARC Broward President/CEO Dennis Haas. “Without them, we could not effectively provide quality services and opportunities for these individuals to realize their full potential.”

Talenfeld Law to be $10,000 Sponsor of 15th Annual For The Public Good Benefitting Legal Aid Programs in Broward County BY JILL SHARPE

L

egal Aid Service of Broward County (LAS) and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA) recently announced that Talenfeld Law will be a major sponsor for their annual fundraising event, For the Public Good. The event will take place on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale. The partners at Talenfeld Law have long been involved with Children’s Advocacy Programs at LAS and CCLA, including the Tracey McPharlin Pro Bono Dependency Project. As one of McPharlin’s former law partners, Howard Talenfeld, Esq., was a founder of the Project and has supported the initiative since its inception. Through this sponsorship commitment, Talenfeld is challenging others to match the contribution or make a commitment to the children of our community. The Tracey McPharlin Pro Bono Dependency Project was launched in 2012 in memory of Tracey McPharlin, a Broward County attorney who passed away in 2010. In a career that lasted only 10 years, Tracey did a lifetime of work that improved and will continue to improve the lives of thousands of foster children. The goal of the initiative is to recruit, train and support attorneys who will carry on Tracey’s work by representing Jamie Finizio Esq and Howard Talenfeld Esq.

An estimated 450 Broward County lawyers, judges and community leaders are expected to be in attendance, for what is widely-noted throughout Broward as the premier pro-bono recognition event of the year. Proceeds from the event benefit children and families served by LAS and CCLA and enable both organizations to serve greater numbers of those in need. A few of the many legal services provided include helping seniors and veterans gain much needed benefits, abused children in foster care, the homeless, children in need of special education, victims of domestic violence and families losing their homes to foreclosure. L’ACQUA Nail Spa Now Offers Microblading for Eyebrows FEATURE STORY

BY JILL SHARPE

D

What distinguishes you from the competition?

o you have missing eyebrows? Thin eyebrows? Or no arch in your brows? Eyebrows are arguably the most important facial feature. If you’re not satisfied with the ones you have, there are many ways to update them, including microblading. Sandy Nguyen, owner of L’ACQUA Nail Spa, explained this unique, new service that so many women love. She also describes the spa’s other signature services.

We provide a very popular pedicure called the L’ACQUA pedicure, which is our signature pedicure. It is a warm, fluffy jelly which retains heat and has added aloe, fragrant oils to effectively reduce sweating and odor was well as moisten the dry skin on your feet.

Another thing that sets us apart is we use the highest form of decontamination which cuts down the risk of infections. We use a medical autoclave, not a UV sterilizer or dry heat/chemical vapor machine, to sterilize our metal implements. An autoclave uses superheated steam under high pressure to sterilize instruments. For each client, we provide a new file, buffer, and foot pumice stone to prevent any cross contamination. We also cover the pedicure tubs with a disposable liner to ensure the foot basins are clean.

What is microblading? Microblading is a

semipermanent tattoo that creates hyper realistic hair strokes to fill in gaps, or to make brows look fuller or to create an eyebrow with more or less of an arch.

How do you choose a color? We choose a color together by applying small amounts of different colored pigments to the skin near to your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preferences. Will my Microblading eyebrows look fake? No. Semi-permanent makeup is done using a cosmetic tattooing process that guarantees soft, natural looking eyebrows.

Please describe the other services offered at L’ACQUA Nail Spa. We provide manicures, How much does it cost? We are running

pedicures, nail enhancements, waxing, eyelash extensions and facials.

a special for $400 (Reg. $500). The offer expires October 31, 2016. The price includes one touch up between 3-4 weeks after initial treatment.

How long is the recovery or healing time? A noticeable dif-

ference will be readily apparent immediately following the microblading procedure. You will see your final results after the healing process is fully completed in a few weeks.

How do you choose the shape? At the

beginning of the microblading procedure we draw in a suggested shape for your new brows and then we work together to perfect this to your preference. Measurements are taken to check symmetry and position.

Leadership Broward Foundation Presents a Lifetime Achievement Award to Plantation Resident James Gress BY JILL SHARPE

J

im Gress signed on to serve runaway and homeless youth at Covenant House Florida even before the Fort Lauderdale beachfront facility opened. He began as an assistant team leader in August of 1985, one month before the first teen arrived at the facility, and rose, through the ranks to the executive director post he holds today. Under Gress’s leadership, Covenant House Florida today reaches nearly 200 youth per day in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando through street outreach, crisis shelters, and transitional housing projects, making it one of the largest agencies serving runaway youth in the State of Florida. As a 30-year veteran of Covenant House Florida, Gress experienced firsthand all the milestones of the organization, starting with its opening, to the launch of the programs relating to youth education, addiction, health and counseling, to the development of supportive and transitional housing projects, to the opening of a second shelter in Orlando. Leadership Broward Foundation (LBF) will honor Gress with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his passion and commitment to serving homeless youth for nearly his entire career, at their 2016 Profiles in Leadership Gala, hosted by the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty Six Resort & Spa on October 15th. “Gress more than deserves this award, especially considering the impact of his work on the vulnerable population served by Covenant House,” said Michael L. Gaylor, Ed.D., CEO of Leadership Broward.

Gress’s notable accomplishments at Covenant House include: overseeing the research, approvals and building of a shelter for homeless and runaway teens in Orlando; developing and administering the successful Covenant House Addictions Management Program (CHAMP); and securing four years of Centers for Disease Control grant funding for a HIV prevention program targeting homeless youth. Gress holds a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Barry University and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the National Association of Social Workers and has served as a clinical field instructor for Barry University. “I’m truly honored to have been selected to receive this prestigious recognition from Leadership Broward,” said Gress. “But it’s even more important to me that this honor shines a light on the work of Covenant House Florida - work that I’ve been committed to for 30 years - providing shelter and services to homeless youth and young adults who are in great need. It is a privilege to have been a part of helping more than 35,000 young people since we opened our shelter doors.” For sponsorship, tickets and more information about the 2016 Profiles in Leadership Gala contact Patty Sacco at 954-767-8866 or patty@leadershipbroward.org.

Plantation Resident Named One of Thirty Two ‘Most Inspiring Rabbis in North America’ BY JILL SHARPE

T

hree years ago, Rabbi Cheryl Jacobs left her job as a pulpit rabbi in order to follow her passion. Today she spends much of her time visiting the prisons of South Florida, helping inmates connect spiritually and getting back on the right path. At the same time, she is a police chaplain supporting our officers during incredibly trying times. Rabbi Andrew Jacobs, spiritual leader of Ramat Shalom in Plantation and Cheryl’s husband of 17 years, said Rabbi Cheryl is the Rabbi for Jews many of us forget about. As the Rabbi and CEO of ISH (www.findyourish.com), a new way for Jews and other spiritual seekers to connect with all things Jewish, Jacobs’s vision to create an engaging, relevant and financially accessible Judaism has attracted a great deal of attention and won her a place on The Jewish Daily Forward’s 2016 list of “North America’s Most Inspiring Rabbis.” From hundreds of nominations, the staff of The Forward, a historic and premier Jewish newspaper with an international audience-compiled the list of the “most inspiring Men and Women from North America who are defining and redefining what it means to be a rabbi in the 21st century.

18

OCTOBER 2016 | OUR CITY PLANTATION

The honor took Rabbi Jacobs by surprise. “I was in complete shock. When I received the phone call from the New York office of The Forward, it took me a few minutes to process the conversation. I have to admit, my children and I may have jumped up and down a little,” said Jacobs. “Honestly my goal has never been to win awards. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, nondenominational resource and service grounded in Jewish wisdom.” Jacobs was nominated for the award by “over a dozen people,” said The Forward staff. One such nomination was Claudia Welsh who wrote in part: Through her work with ISH, Rabbi Jacobs is looking ahead at the next generation and working tirelessly to impact the best in us as Jews. Her forward thinking allows our young people and the unaffiliated of all ages to connect and learn. She meets people where they are and gently brings them along to a greater understanding of what it is to embrace all aspects of their Judaism. In an increasingly material aspirational world, Rabbi Jacobs inspires us to incorporate the best part of ourselves and illuminates a path of compassion, care and continuous learning.

Surviving Breast Cancer From diagnosis and beyond – a roadmap for life.

Thomas Samuel, MD Breast Oncologist

Joylene Sutton-Aransevia, ARNP Nurse Practitioner

“You are cancer free.” These are words that not only bring a wave of relief, but also the desire to get back to life as you knew it, before breast cancer. But, as a breast cancer survivor, you still need to think about your long-term health and well being. Cleveland Clinic Florida’s Survivorship Care Program offers the much-needed ongoing support, along with a roadmap to your future. Whether you have just completed treatment or are a long-term survivor, under the direction of breast oncologist, Thomas Samuel, MD, and Joylene Sutton-Aransevia ARNP, the Survivorship Care Program offers the support you need to become empowered and take charge of your life going forward. “First, a treatment plan summary is provided, so patients can see the journey they have traveled to beat breast cancer,” explains Dr. Samuel. “Then, we add a roadmap that will guide them through the next several

years. This outlines standard screenings, follow-up care for physician visits, as well as necessary lab work. In addition, the program educates patients about the possible longterm effects of their treatments, identifying signs and symptoms to be aware of, and how to seek help if they occur.” This provides survivors the opportunity to think about how they want to live going forward. “Being diagnosed with breast cancer and going through the rigorous treatment is a life-changing experience,” explains Joylene Sutton-Aransevia, ARNP. “Many patients adopt a new lifestyle and look forward with a better outlook on life. Our program helps patients reconstruct, rebuild and redeem their lives.” Just as Cleveland Clinic’s approach to the treatment of cancer includes a multidisciplinary team method, the survivorship care team is also comprised of physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, nutritionists and other support groups. By providing a comprehensive overview plan, the Survivorship Care Program guides patients as they continue their journey along the pathway to wellness, looking forward to life as a survivor.

Camp Everglades Program Introduces Students To the Environmental Science and Everglades Magnet Restoration Program at South Plantation High School SECTION news school HEAD

BY JILL SHARPE

F

or the 15th consecutive year, students entering the Environmental Science and Everglades Magnet Program at South Plantation High, had an opportunity to learn about the program and meet those involved at a day-long program called Camp Everglades. This year 87 campers took part, along with 23 camp counselors. The program, led by Camp Director Matthew Zealy, Experimental Science & Limnology Instructor, is always a big hit with incoming magnet students as they learn where the classrooms are located, become familiar with the campus through a scavenger hunt,

learn team building through a low ropes activity and even write a letter stating their goals for the first year in the magnet program. In addition the students are treated to a “get involved in school” presentation where several clubs and organizations showcase their programs. The camp concludes with a parent reception and camper dessert reception at the end of the day. Zealy, who has begun his 13th year teaching the magnet program freshman curriculum, (overview of the Everglades) and is a South Plantation alumni, said he is excited every year to see all the new students in the magnet program come together to enjoy a day of meeting each other and learning about the school and its programs. “Another benefit of Camp Everglades is that parents are able to meet the faculty, join our parent booster group - Fans of the Everglades Restoration Magnet Program (FERM), and learn about volunteer opportunities with our unique magnet program at the parent reception,” Zealy said. JoAnn Cantlupe, Magnet Program Coordinator, said the program takes away the apprehensiveness that students often feel the first day of school. “After having a fun day, the students leave relaxed and excited about their choice to join the Magnet.”

Denise Horland, a parent of twins who attended their freshman year and have served as counselors for the past three years, said the program serves an important role in connecting the upper classman to the incoming 9th graders. “Additionally as a parent, I had so many questions when my children entered the program for the first time and now I feel a responsibility to be available to new parents during the parent reception, and to help families navigate the transition to high school, and the magnet program, with ease,” Horland said. Horland’s son Camp Counselor Casey Horland said he looks forward to Magnet Camp every year. “I enjoy meeting the freshman and helping them acclimate to both South Plantation and the Magnet program,” he said. Ninth grader Gabrielle Sheldon said the program was helpful to her because it gave her the chance to meet some of her fellow classmates, get to know the school better and meet a few teachers. “Overall it was a cool, fun, and entertaining experience that I was happy to be a part of,” Sheldon said. Quinn Sampson, another incoming ninth grader, agreed. “If you are entering South Plantation High School’s Magnet Program, you don’t want to miss Camp Everglades,” Sampson said. Before going, I was nervous and afraid, but the upperclassman counselors helped us fit in right away. It was an amazing day overall.” Camp Everglades has continued to be a success thanks to donations and involvement from community partners such as South Florida Water Management District, The Everglades Foundation, and EDCO Awards and Trophies.

BY LANEY STEARNS, PLANTATION FIRE CHIEF

L

egend has it that on October 8th, 1871, Mrs. Murphy’s cow kicked over a lantern which started the Great Chicago Fire. As a result of that fire more than 300 people were killed and thousands of buildings were burned to the ground. We memorialize that and many other serious fires through Fire Prevention Week which is October 9 through 15th. The purpose of Fire Prevention Week is to remind everyone of the dangers of fire and the many ways to prevent them. Kitchen fires, unattended candles and smoking materials, as well as overloaded electrical circuits are the leading causes of home fires. Each year, throughout the month of October our Public Education team visits all the grade schools in Plantation spreading the word about fire safety. Our efforts culminate with the presentation of our Annual Poster and Essay contest. The contest is open to all school aged children in K-5th grade. Students in K-3 are asked to draw their best representation of the annual NFPA theme, which this year is, “Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.” Students in grades 4 & 5 are asked to write an essay. Awards are given for “Best in School” and three City-Wide winners are selected in each category. The winning entries are presented at the Chamber of Commerce Breakfast and City Council meetings during October. The NFPA theme reminds us to replace our old smoke detectors with the new 10 year ones. And check the date to be sure it is current. This year is also special as we will hold our 60th Annual Barbecue on Sunday, November 6th. The annual event is one of the largest, and longest standing traditions in the City. Ticket order forms were mailed to every home in Plantation. They may also be purchased by calling 954-797-2150 during business hours. Tickets are also available the day of the Barbecue. We look forward to seeing everyone there. Please be safe.

Pickup for Breast Cancer Is an Easy Way to Support the Cause By Beverly Perkins

S

ince 1993 the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation has been committed to providing the resources necessary to fund programs that support their mission to end breast cancer. The household discard program, Pickups for Breast Cancer, is a great way for those who want to help by donating resalable items for a great cause.

This is a free, tax deductible home pickup service in South Florida including Martin, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. All

types of household items including: clothing, clothing accessories, shoes, bric-a-brac, bedding, toys, electronics and resalable furniture, etc. are accepted. This program has proven to be successful since it has generated millions of dollars, which has funded numerous grants and programs, therefore helping their goal to end breast cancer. Michael Arena, Director of Merchandise Coordination, answered some commonly asked questions about the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation and its pick up service.

In one sentence, describe the key message of the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. For the past

twenty two years, our mission is to end breast cancer through education, research and advocacy and it will be until a cure is found.

How does your pickup service work? We offer

free, tax deductible home pickup services for house-

hold discards throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin counties. Those who want to donate can visit www.pickupsforbreastcancer.org and click on the “Schedule a Pickup” tab for easy and fast service. Scheduling a pick up is convenient online or by calling 1-888-492-4483.

What distinguishes you from your competition? Our pickup service is reli-

able, timely and friendly. The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation is a fully recognized 501(c) (3) charitable organization authorized by the IRS and United States Government to issue official tax deduction receipts for all donations.

Is there anything else you would like readers to know about you and/or your business? October is national breast can-

cer awareness month and we are sincerely thankful for all the support during the most recognized month of the year. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call 1-888-492-4483 or visit www.pickupsforbreastcancer.org.

IMACS Gives Students the Skills to Succeed

F

or over 20 years, the Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (IMACS) has been providing students an outlet for reaching their highest potential. With classes in math enrichment and computer programming for all ages and abilities, students develop skills that will last a lifetime.

IMACS President Terry Kaufman answered some commonly asked questions about this program.

Please describe IMACS. We are an after-school, weekend, homeschool and summer program for students in grades one through twelve that develops genuine logical reasoning and mathematical thinking. Unlike tutoring or drill-and-kill techniques, our classes are fun and engaging.

In what subjects do you offer classes? We offer after-school and

weekend classes in Math Enrichment, Computer Programming & Virtual Robotics, University Computer Science, and University Mathematical Logic. In addition, for homeschool students we offer classes in Electronics and Logic Puzzles, as well as Math Enrichment and Computer Programming.

What distinguishes IMACS from its competition? IMACS is unique

in that our students are grouped by ability, not by age. This means that at IMACS a child will never be held back from reaching his/her potential. Another important difference is that our curricula are developed by a long-standing team of mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers,

and educators who draw on an average of over 25 years of experience teaching talented students. Rather than accelerating the pace of standard material or teaching tricks without understanding, IMACS designs original curricula that engages bright children on a deeper level.

Who is your ideal student? Parents of bright students commonly dis-

miss academic enrichment programs, and that is perfectly understandable because none of them are really meant for their kids, except for IMACS whose focus is on talented students. Frequently, IMACS is the first time that these children have experienced true intellectual challenge. If your child is coasting through school with straight A’s in math, that is actually not good for when they get to college because they won’t know what it is like to struggle with a hard problem, make mistakes and bounce back. Give them the opportunity to develop those skills from a young age and they will benefit for the rest of their lives.

Business Spotlight

By Stacey Bomser

Where is IMACS located? IMACS was founded in 1993 in Plantation with just 37 students. We have since expanded locally to over 1,300 students attending classes in Plantation, Weston and throughout South Florida. IMACS also has affiliate locations in four other states and several thousand students taking our online courses. For more information on the Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (IMACS) call 954-791-2333 or visit www.imacs. org.

IN EVERY CHILD, THERE IS POTENTIAL WAITING TO TAKE OFF. But it doesn’t just happen. Who will ignite a passion for learning in your child? And who will help your child turn passion into life-changing talents? The answer is IMACS and we’ll prove it to you before you even begin.

Visit imacs.org/potential to reserve a space in a FREE class and discover what your child can achieve!
