However, we’ve found that most of our business is from other cultural groups. Once they try our cuisine, they’re hooked.” The prices are just as good as the meals. For lunch, you can choose from nine offerings, including shredded beef, roast pork, ground beef and their famous lamb shank. For dinner, diners could choose a pork fillet simmering in a tangy tamarindo sauce or breaded fish that’s broiled with a cilantro sauce or Little Havana skirt steak, prepared in a light parsley oil sauce. With each dinner, priced between $7.99 and $15.49, guests get an individual loaf of home made, crusty Cuban bread. “ A lot of people come here with the misconception that Cuban food is similar to Mexican food,” Alvarez said. “Actually, there’s very little in common. Mexico has a lot of regional dishes and some of them can be quite spicy. Cuban cooking doesn’t blast your taste buds. The flavor comes from marinating and the combination of foods and spices.” Little Havana has a full bar and a great Spanish sangria. The unassuming eatery is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Tuesday through Sunday and offers modern takes on traditional cuisine. The restaurant offers diners a broad selection of tasty menu items combined with a well-curated selection of wine and cocktails.
Ambiance
The restaurant is quite open with a modern, minimalistic feel. It is dominated by a centrally situated marble bar with a faux ivy wall behind it. There are dining rooms to either side of the bar with the kitchen in the rear. Windows in front let in a surprising amount of light, making Cork and Barrel a wonderful place to start your day over breakfast. In fact, they offer breakfast items all day.
The Food
Cork and Barrel features small plates and cuisine from all over the Caribbean and around the world, from oxtail empanadas to zucchini sliders they have a number of interesting and tasty items on the menu. Wines are hand-picked and will add sweet notes of joy to any of their dishes. The breakfast menu includes classic items like Eggs Benedict, Omelets, and Steak and Eggs. They also offer a couple more unique options like Cork and Barrel’s take on Chicken and Waffles, which includes creamy mozzarella cheese melted over crunchy chicken breast, bacon, enveloped with two buttermilk waffles, served with Cork and Barrel’s house syrup. All of the breakfast items are reasonably priced. We especially like the breakfast potatoes.
The lunch menu offers burgers, chicken wraps, fried chicken, and Cork N Barrel Pasta, the restaurant’s twist on a signature classic Italian marinara sauce, served with rigatoni pasta. Be sure to try the signature Cork N Barrel Burger with a beef patty, fried mozzarella, red lettuce, onion, tomato, a fried egg, and aioli. It is to die for! Their dinner or “Sunset” Menu includes a number of favorites including Fish and Chips, Chicken Parmesan, and Meatloaf. All are seasoned perfectly. Our friendly waiter was always ready to offer a wine recommendation when asked.
Service
The staff at Cork and Barrel are very friendly and want to help their diners enjoy their time. The staff will make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The food is prepared fresh when ordered. One diner commented, “The place is not fancy, but more like you walked into your every Friday spot where you meet up with your friends to shoot the breeze and have some good food and drinks. That was exactly what I experienced.”
The Verdict
Cork and Barrel is a great place to go for a quick meal with colleagues or friends. It is the type of place where you are never under dressed nor overdressed to dine. They offer reasonably priced menu items for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Friday, July 22nd will be Movies in the Park from 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. also at Pine Trails Park. Since July is Parks and Recreation Month, you may want to be sure to check the city calendar for all of the fun we will have this Summer with our full slate of activities for all members of the family. Residents are reminded to never leave children alone near a pool or body of water and assign an adult to watch children during gatherings. Anyone over age 10 is encouraged to also learn CPR.
