Broward Vulnerable Population Registery
H AVAILABLE FOR HOUSE CALLS
By John Duka
urricane Season is just around the corner. That means families are getting their “go kits” ready, making sure shutters are readily available and stowing items that could potentially turn into projectiles. Broward County created a registry for those of us who can’t head for safer ground in the event of a devastating storm. If you or a loved one is at risk due to disability, frailty, or other health issue, regardless of age - register for the Vulnerable Population Registry. Registration does not guarantee that you will be provided assistance but is a great tool to take into account during the planning of an emergency. The County keeps an updated list that shares the information with appropriate City staff for resources that may be available to you during times like these.

The information you enter will allow municipalities and Broward County to gather information on those that are at risk due to a disability, frailty or health issues and elect to stay at home in the event of a hurricane or other disaster. This information will be used by municipalities and Broward County for planning purposes. If you live in an evacuation zone, which includes mobile homes, you should plan to evacuate. Please be advised that entering your information in this database in no way represents that you will be placed on a priority list to be assisted in the event of an emergency. The online registry is easy to access. Simply click on the QR code or visit www.broward.org/registry
