After a hugely successful show last year, the Chiswick House Dog Show is back again this year – and we are celebrating 25 years since the first Harry Potter book was published. Our theme is ‘Harry Pointer and the Philosopher’s Bone’!!! That should set tails wagging amongst those owners who love to dress up their dogs for the Fancy Dress class. The Show is run by local volunteers for the enjoyment of the whole community, not just for their ‘best friends’ and aims to raise money to maintain and improve the grounds of Chiswick House and Gardens (www.chiswickhouseandgardens. org.uk). Entry is free: it’s a fun day out for all the family – and non-dog owners are more than welcome too! Classes range from Waggiest Tail to Prettiest Bitch, and from My Dog’s Got Talent to Best Groomed. Enter your dog into one (or more) of the 18 classes: on-line registration is already open and places are filling up. Go to: www.chiswickhousedogshow.org. uk/class-schedule to see a timetable of the classes and to www.chiswickhousedogshow. org.uk/class-registration to sign up for a slot. It’s just £5 to enter your dog into a class. The Dogs Trust will be holding their ever-popular Doggy Dash for all those trying to get the fastest time and become the Usain Bolter of the canine world! Stallholders cover a wide range - pet portraiture, RNLI, local artists, ArtsEd, dog treats, Hogarth Health Club and every form of dog accessory known to man. All this, plus an amazing mix of catering stalls, along with our renowned Dog Show Bar, selling soft drinks, cider, beer and wine. It takes over 160 volunteers (aged from 9 to 90) to put on the Dog Show: we need ring marshals and stewards, photographers, bucket rattlers, help on the bar and on the registration desk…. If you can spare a couple of hours on the day, please go to www.chiswickhousedogshow. org.uk/volunteer-sign-up, or contact Caroline at volunteer@ chiswickhousedogshow.org.uk. The usual raft of surprise celebrity judges will be present: previous years’ judges have included David Tennant, Mel Giedroyc, Michael Ball, Ant McPartlin, Richard Lintern, Neil Dudgeon…… this year’s judges remain a secret until the actual day!
