Thursday 8th September - Sarah Moule & Simon Wallace Trio celebrate the Genius Of Duke Ellington
The music of Duke Ellington has been inspiring singer Sarah Moule and pianist Simon Wallace ever since they both discovered jazz. Together they celebrate the genius of ‘The Duke’ and his right-hand man, Billy Strayhorn, two of the most respected and prolific song writers of the jazz era. Numbers such as It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing and Take The A Train, show why the Ellington Orchestra’s music has been described as one of the most important contributions to American culture.
Thursday 22nd September - Wilma Baan & The Rob Barron Trio present ‘Visions’
The highly regarded Dutch vocalist’s rich, mellow tone, impeccable timing and elegant delivery pays obvious homage to her musical influences, Nancy Wilson, Julie London & Dianne Reeves. Wilma will be showcasing numbers from her well-received debut release, So Nice (Marcus Valle), as well as visiting some of her all-time favourites such as Close Enough For Love (Johnny Mandel) The Summer Knows (Michel Legrand), I Didn’t Know What Time It Was (Rodgers and Hart) and The Folks Who Live On The Hill (Jerome Kern) among others.
Thursday 15th September- Greg Davis Trio Featuring Vanessa Rose
The much-travelled tenor saxophonist Greg Davis brings his top-drawer trio including the acclaimed Chiswick based double bassist Sandy Burnett over to the Boston Room for a night of classic jazz standards and Latin grooves featuring special guest vocalist Vanessa Rose.
Thursday 29th September - Delta Trio
Started by guitarist Marcus Bonfanti and bassist Jihad Darwish in 2015, the Delta Trio is more than just a blues trio. Their music ranges from Bluegrass and Delta Blues, covering material from the likes of John Martyn, Paul Weller, The Meters and Little Feat with various jazz, soul, blues, funk and rock influences in their playing. Marcus Bonfanti, twice winner of the British Blues Awards for best Acoustic Performer and Songwriter, has toured the world with the likes of Eric Clapton
and Van Morrison. Jihad Darwish has toured, performed and recorded worldwide with numerous artists including Sting, Eric Bibb, Imelda May, Beth Rowley and Mica Paris.
