Welcome to Outer East Football Netball Junior Grand Final Day 2023.
There is so much to celebrate today, the culmination of so much hard work by our players, coaches, committees, volunteers and parents/guardians
Good luck to all sides playing today and well done to all teams who season is now over Thank you to all our Junior finals host clubs, your commitment to giving the players an opportunity to show their skills during our finals was fantastic
This year we had more Junior participants than ever before and would like to thank each of the clubs committees for their effort in offering children the chance to enjoy the sport that we all love. We had fantastic numbers in our non competitive competitions (Under 9 Wayalaks & Under 10’s), which is a great sign for our future.
Our junior competition does not only offer our participants an enjoyable place to play, but also offers a chance for a lot of children to become umpires. Without umpires we would not be able to play, so I would like to congratulate all our junior umpires, who officiated throughout the season.
To our Junior umpire mentor/coach Warwick Marsh, thank you for your effort in leading such a fine group of young boys and girls
Each week during the season we need to fill at least 63 games of junior football I would like to thank Emily Jose who performs this task magnificently.
To all our OEFN staff, Junior Advisory committee members, OEFN board members and Club Presidents, Thank you for your support during this season.
Lastly it has been a privilege watching our players enjoying their time playing with their mates and learning skills throughout the season. Well done.
Thanks
Andy Gibbons OEFN Junior Operations CoordinatorHead-to-Head

Quote from Upwey Tecoma’s Coach David Van Hoorn
“This Upwey u11’s team has had a great year and deserve their spot in the grand final. They love this great game and most live and breathe it which has made coaching them this year so enjoyable and rewarding. We have some greatly skilled players for their age, and most can play in any position. But it’s the way they play and set up that I believe will give them the best chance of winning this week. Good luck lads and give it your all.”
Quote from Mt Evelyn’s Coach Daniel Miller
“The boys are very excited to be playing in the grand final. They have had a fantastic year, and we as the coaching group have seen improvement and development across the board. Our opponent, Upwey/Tecoma, have had an amazing season, going through undefeated so far. Its our aim to end that this weekend if we can! It should be a great contest and we can’t wait for Sunday. Let’s Go Rovers!”

“These girls have fought hard to make it to the Grand Final this season! They are already champions in my eyes. In 12 games of footy they have kicked a total of 620 points and only had 48 points kicked against. This is a credit to whole team! Tigers roar!”
“In 2023 the Wessy under12 Girls saw 50% of our 2022 premiership winning team ascend to the under 14s leaving big shoes to be filled! But the Wessy Girls of 2023 did just that with our bottom aged players of 22 stepping up! With the addition of 15 new players the Wessy Girls are as brave, smart, fast & powerful as ever making the Grand final back to back! The Upwey Girls are a fantastic side full of talented young footy girls, we have had great battles with them this year with Upwey taking the chockies on both occasions. The Wessy Girls have a great belief we have what it takes to get the job done this Sunday with clear heads & happy hearts I’m sure we are in for a spectacle of Girls footy in the Outer East u12 girls Grand final. Win, loose or draw the culture the girls have created this year will set them up for a bright future in Girls / Women’s footy we are so proud of them!
Coaches prediction: The Wessy Girls by 3 goals Go Wessy! ❤️”

“Been a big year for the Belgrave boys this season. After last year where we struggled at times but were competitive. Its a great reward for there hard work they have put in to be playing in a grand final. As for our chances on the big day, we have split the season 1/1 with Seville and we know its going to be a fierce, competitive contest where the team that plays the best as a whole unit will get the result on the day. In saying that I hope its my boys, but I know the Seville coaching staff will be trying to do the exact same. Good luck to everyone involved, really looking forward to a great game ahead.”

“We are heading into this game in some good form. And after a great win against Wandin we should be confident heading into the Final this weekend. Belgrave have been a good side all year, so it’s shaping to be a great game. Our boys have worked really hard as a group this season, and making the Grand Final is a great reflection of their efforts! We are all so proud of the way the boys have matured into an awesome group of young men. On behalf of Pat Murphy and myself I'd like to thank everyone involved in the SJFC U13's for season 2023! GO BLUES!!”

“Very excited that our young lads get the opportunity to play in a Grand Final this weekend. We know Mt Evelyn are a quality side however we also know that out best footy can match it with theirs. The result will no doubt be decided by which ever team can bring their “A game” on the day. Looking forward to a cracking game of Under 13’s football. Go Bloods!!!”

“The U14 girls have worked very hard at Belgrave this season and their results reflect that. Although we know that we are capable of winning the flag, we also know that Healesville have been a strong team this season and will be a formidable opponent on the day. If we hold our structures, follow our plan and play with grit and determination we can get the job done. Good luck today, Belgrave Girls, let’s “bring home the flag for one and all to see!”
“Going by our clash in round 8 where Belgrave toke the honours by 3 points this game could come down to the wire. I think whoever can win the midfield battle may come out on top. Our girls are excited about the opportunity in front of them and look forward to a great contest.”
