DECEMBER 2018 This is it – our last issue of the year. Number 179 to be exact, but numbers are simply numbers. That being said, adding up this total leads us to the number 8. Mostly out of curiosity, I enjoy looking into the meanings of things from various angles, including numerology. The number 8 is associated with a few key qualities – power, strength, and determination. So far so good, right? I indeed feel that after years of doing what we love and keeping our focus on the bigger picture, we have absolutely gained some power and strength. The number 8 also means to transform negative energy into positive – once again, this is right on the spot. I, for one, have never believed in the whole #GoodVibesOnly movement in the sense of receiving. You can do your best to put out the best vibes only, but at the same time you also have to understand that negative energies or situations that come your way can and will help you to better understand yourself. So, that being said, we did that, too! We have transformed a seemingly negative situation into a positive one. But if you think about it, was it really even a negative one to begin with? The number 8 has the energy of a boss and the aura of control. All right –we will definitely take that, too. Not in the sense of being bossy, but more so in that you are able to make your own decisions and have more control over what you want to accomplish for yourself and others. And finally, let’s not forget – the number 8 is how many reindeers Santa has :P (nothing like an old-school emoji, right?). Overall, there’s really not a bad number. I believe that meanings associated with numbers or other things are more like a little tap on the shoulder from the universe offering you guidance or telling you good job. So whatever holiday you are currently or not celebrating, our wish to all is one and the same. Find your strength and make the most out of it in order to really do good for all those around you. There is no such thing as a small act of kindness, even if you’re simply wishing someone well. Love to all. Stephane Marquet BELLO mag creative Director.

ASHER

Say hello to Asher Angel, talented actor and an amazing musician who started working to make a name for himself at an early age. Starring along the likes of Jessica Chastain at five-years old in Jolene, and with his recent release of the hit song, Chemistry, he has proven that nothing can stop him on the road to stardom. While we wait with excitement for his next role in the highly anticipated upcoming superhero movie, Shazam, in April, we sat down with Asher for an exclusive interview and photo shoot.

The very French* Toile De Jouy Colabs from the Past.

by Stéphane Marquet

If you’ve walked by a Dior store recently, you’ve probably caught a glimpse of their wonderful window displays featuring life-size animals adorned in a busy-looking print – the Toile De Jouy.

Here’s why: Cotton was first introduced to France after being imported from India in the 16th and 17th Century and was such a success that the French government became concerned about the financial impact on French manufacturers of silks, wools, and cloths. Therefore, in 1686, the production, importation, and even use of cotton was banned in France – how crazy is that?

DESTINATION

Skye Island Located amongst the Inner Hebrides archipelago off the coast of Scotland, The Isle of Skye is known for its breathtaking rugged landscapes, fishing villages, and medieval castles. The picturesque harbor of the town of Portree was once a popular point of departure for people sailing to America in order to escape poverty. So, if your DNA test results reveal that you are part Scottish, it’s very likely that one of your ancestors may have made their journey from here! This lovely port town is the perfect home base to begin at before you explore the island or enjoy a harbor-side pub. However, the main attraction in Skye is the beauty of nature itself. with breathtaking landscapes shaped over many centuries. Skye is not a small island either, so there is plenty of exploring to do! Plan on a minimum of three days to see all the sights and be certain to rent a car to make sure that you can really take it all in.

The true icon of Skye Island is the pinnacle standing atop a steep rocky hill as the island’s protector, The Old Man of Storr.

There are also legends of fairies

and giants galore in The Isle of Skye revolving around the natural beauty and features of the island. The iconic #ThumbsUp is often attributed to the pinnacle of a giant’s thumb being buried (which makes more sense than a volcanic plug from the tertiary period, right?). Quirking is another fantastic location to take in the views, with a high perch that gives you a great look at all of the wonderful rolling hills. Looking to take in the @arisceasar

waterfront sights? The Fairy Pool is another great sight

@jbnaturphoto

to see, with a popular trail that leads across rivers to a series of small pools with crystal clear waters. The most photographed waterfall on the island, Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls, drops straight into the ocean for a truly breathtaking view. Just be careful to not take a selfie and fall into the water!

Nest Point Lighthouse is an-

other great ocean-side sight to take in while you are on your adventure. The rest of the island is sprinkled with gorgeous castles, beaches, and lakes that are perfect for enjoying if you like to get lost while you travel. Just make sure that if you do plan on getting lost that you have great cell reception (both for geolocation and tagging on IG)!

How to get there!

Photography by @rawpizxel

If you are traveling from the United States, there are several airlines that can take you directly to Eddinburg in Scotland. We would highly suggest one with a single stop and a direct flight to a main European city in order to keep costs down. Airlines such as Delta, Air France, British, KLM, United, and American Airlines are all great options, with last-minute flights costing about $1300 on average. The Eddinburg to Isle of Skye journey is a little less than five hours by car, but don’t let this scare you. By adding a few stops along the way, you can easily make this trek a part of your journey. Take a break at the iconic Pitlochry, a quaint town that is the home of Scotland’s smallest whiskey distillery, The Edrabour. You can also stop off at Eilean Donan Castle (www.eileandonancastle.com) or take a little detour to Loch Ness to try to catch a glimpse of the famous monster. Bon voyage!

MAISON KITSUNÉ Maison Kitsuné is a French electronic music record label and fashion label founded in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki. Loaëc and Kuroki, who passions are fashion and music, visited Japan together where the birth of the brand began. Inspired by the Japanese culture, Kitsuné derives its name from the Japanese word kitsune meaning "fox". In Japan, the fox is said to have the power to change its appearance and its face; the many faces of the fox represent the different parts and directions of Kitsuné.
