WRITTEN BY JON NORRIS
A FEW DAYS AGO, I WAS SAT IN A QUAINT LITTLE HOTEL BAR, WATCHING THE RAIN DRIBBLE DOWN EACH WINDOWPANE ON THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE SLOANE SQUARE HOTEL, WHILST SIPPING ON A RICH HOT CHOCOLATE AND MULLING OVER TOPICS OF LIFE. My friend, who grew up on the joyful streets of Jamaica said to me ‘nobody does anything, for a second longer than it benefits them personally’. Life lesson number one, I said. But in reality, is it true and how could you categorically say what a certain someone’s benefit really is – how would you know that for sure? Do we all live for the same reasons, whether it be faith, money, family, health, sex, running, reading, your partner etc. This left me pondering for many hours, and consequently inspired thoughts on LIFESTYLE issue - BELLOmag.com
a piece of writing I wrote last year, titled ‘Life as a Story’; but in a completely new way of thinking. The central thought to it is, I think relevant to all our lives – either ‘onstage’ or ‘backstage’. Life being a journey, lots of pathways, people and relationships pass through our visions. Consequently a small few of these make a real difference to our outlook and our pathway through the business of life, perhaps even changing our perspective on it even though it seems to the external world the ‘comment, action or words’ that were so
important to you, was little more than, well, nothing actually, to everyone else. When we think of our lives ‘onstage’, they are made up of influence, image, impact, am I making a difference to the world (?), how do I look when doing that (?), do they like me (?), and general ego questions that come when engaged in the outside world. Backstage, our lives are filled with thoughts of intuition, instinct, values, faith beliefs, deeper sources through which all of this comes; the soul and the body. We are born into wholeness 8
‘One’ and integrity, but with no separation in our inner and outer lives. As time passes and life becomes about surviving and succeeding in the external world, we lose touch with our souls and ‘disappear’ into our roles in life – whatever that maybe. At some point during our younger years, there seems to become a realization that we cannot live our backstage life in our onstage world. Thus, if we reveal too much about who we are, and what we really feel, the world becomes a dangerous place for us and as a consequence, we build a wall of separation that exists between who we are, and what reality we are 9
actually experiencing day to day. After growing up, and essentially, becoming an adult, we may experience a disconnection between who we really are and what our reality has become in our ‘onstage’ lives. I call it Life as a Story. What is important to us personally, slowly becomes the principles around which our external lives evolve – creating unity, allowing us to be centered as people, in essence. To close, I wanted to share a conclusion taken from these thoughts, conveying the ‘power of one’ and co-creating what we call reality - an exchange
between our inner and outer lives. How can we all become so aware of this exchange, moment to moment, that we can make choices that are life creating rather than death dealing (?). This, in my opinion, links an inner sense with an outer feeling. A proposal for you; instead of thinking solely on a selfish level, try doing one thing every day that affects someone else’s life, to make them feel better, in whatever way, shape or form. Ultimately, this can empower our human spirit of helping others, ‘bringing light to a dark room’ and ultimately building a human bond that prospers in being more together, rather than living so separately. Anguilla:
Undiscovered By DEE TRILLO Senior Lifestyle and Travel Editor | Dee@BelloMag.com | @HauteFrugalista
PRIVATE, EXCLUSIVE AND EXOTIC ARE SOME OF THE CHARACTERISTICS CELEBRITIES LOOK FOR ON THEIR VACATIONING SPOTS. A PLACE WHERE THEY CAN HIDE FROM THE WORLD AND BE THEMSELVES. FOR MOST OF US, MERE MORTALS, SERENITY AND BEAUTY ARE THE MOST DECIDING FACTORS. LUCKILY, WHEN IT COMES TO PLACES THAT COMBINE EVERYTHING, THE ISLAND OF ANGUILLA HAS IT ALL. That is why we have chosen it as one of the top Caribbean destinations to visit in 2016. If prove by the latest Instagrams from celebrities like Justin Bieber, Harry Styles, Kendall Jenner, Paris and Nicky Hilton, and Hailey Baldwin is not enough, then maybe my experience might just sway you to leave your worries behind and discover paradise. LIFESTYLE issue - BELLOmag.com
There are many reasons why this beautiful island has won over our hearts and it goes beyond the crystal clear waters. A short ferry ride from St. Marteen’s Princess Juliana Airport, Anguilla, is not a place where you will find insane amounts of tourists. This is a place for travelers, jetsetters, and wanderlusters. A place to fall in love, to
get married, and as many have done, to move to. I was impressed with the amount of expats that call this small spot their home now. People who visited and decided to open a business and never go back, or others who worked hard to save money and buy a house. This speaks volumes about the kind of place Anguilla is. 10
the many shades of blue across the peaceful waters is only challenged by the radiant sun sitting on top of the mountains. A spectacular view that lasts all day and is magnified by the open and clear sky where constellations and stars make the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable night. One of the things I loved the most while visiting Anguilla was putting on my headphones and walking down the beach during the day, and then sitting on a beach chair at night and admire the firmament. It was a very emotional and spiritual experience that I recommend to everyone. Â
A HOME AWAY FROM HOME:
Paradise
Finding a great place to stay in Anguilla is not a difficult task. Choosing among the many beautiful resorts is the mission. We have chosen 2 that accommodate different needs and tastes: CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa and Frangipiani Resort. Cuisinart Golf Resort is a beautiful luxury hotel located in Rendezvous Bay with an extensive array of restaurants and recreational activities at hand. It has suites and villas that can accommodate honeymooners or families. The Lobby Bar has a great selection of wines and local rums made out with fresh pineapple, ginger, banana and more.
The moment you arrive on the island you can feel the warm breeze and waves dancing with the shore. Is oh so peaceful and calm, that you can travel by yourself and still feel great. Is one of those unique destinations where solo travelers can enjoy the harmony that comes from silence without falling into a feeling of loneliness. A place where families can get together and truly share moments minus the noise of the busy streets and overcrowded pools. An incredibly romantic spot for new and experienced couples looking to get away and reconnect with each other. Sandy Ground beach is the ideal spot to see the splendor of Anguilla from above. The beauty that irradiates from 11

The beachfront suites and villas are gorgeous. All over-looking the ocean, they come with a living area, a huge walk-in closet, a bathroom that has a separate shower and jacuzzi, and an extended patio with direct access to the beach. I loved getting my morning paper directly from the pages of the New York Times with a basket of fresh pastries and chocolate while listening to the sounds of birds and the water. The easy access to the beach made it easy for me to sun tan and swim, right before heading to dinner. The resort has a state of the art
18 hole Greg Norman Signature Design Championship Course, perfect for golf aficionados who want to enjoy some tee time without missing the gorgeous view. For those, like myself, who need some soothing time, the Venus Spa keeps the essence of the island and allows you to look at its beauty from your own relaxation room. The Exotic Essence Aromatherapy Massage uses a blend of oils from flowers and herbs to take you into a deep state of relief and calmness. After, visit Tokyo Bay, one of the most delicious Japanese restaurant I have
ever visited. The food is beautifully decorated, with a perfect combination of Caribbean flavors and traditional Japanese techniques, and made with fresh ingredients. Chef Joe Jitsu’s tuna with seared foie gras, snapper sashimi with cucumber pasta, and lobster rice with gelatin caviar were some of my favorite dishes. Frangipiani Resort has a different vibe. Located on the white sands of Meads Bay, this boutique luxury hotel offers you the privacy of a villa with the amenities of a resort. The infinity pool overlooking the water and the accessibility to water sports are a great option for those looking to be more lowkey yet have a fantastic stay. Wake up to the sunrise and enjoy paddle boarding or water skiing. Then in the afternoon sail on a Hobie Cat or kayak across the beach to find beautiful marine life and coral reefs. The Straw Hat restaurant is the star of this place. The food is delicious and the outdoor romantic ambience is perfect for an intimate dinner. I can honestly say it has been one of the friendliest restaurants I have attended, with s staff that’s knowledgeable about their island, and their cuisine. The lobster was freshly

caught and seasoned to perfection, and accompanied with sweet plantains, it brought the island flavors to the table. Aside that, the seafood stew, Kahlua cake and coconut martini were my favorite dishes of the night.
LEARN, EAT, DANCE, REPEAT: Visiting The Valley is a great way to connect with the history and local culture of Anguilla, British West Indies. From the Olde Valley to East End Road, the colorful colonial houses and plantation style buildings will make you reminiscent of a different time that seems to be carefully preserved for newer generations. The Art Galleries and Heritage Museum are the perfect places to learn more about Anguilla. Historian and curator Colville Petty is a wonderful resource for travelers who wish to understand more about the intricacies of the development and culture of the island.
Choose to have a delicious Crayfish or Seafood Salad with Johnny Cakes at Da’ Vidas Restaurant in Crocus Bay. Is a lovely outdoor restaurant with amazing views complimented by the yummy food. Smokey’s restaurant at The Cove Bay Beach is another great outdoor place. Their ribs, curry goat and candied yams are some of the best Caribbean dishes you will have in your life. Blanchard’s is a perfect option for a date night. Go for the lobster bisque, and sesame crusted Mahi Mahi with sweet potatoes puree and sautéed spinach. Finish the meal with the most amazing bread pudding you will ever have, and that comes from someone who does not normally eat it. Pimms Restaurant in Cap Juluca is another great night spot. Watermelon and arugula salad, conch carpaccio, big eye snapper and chocolate fondant are some of their best dishes.
Shoal Bay is a must visit for anyone looking to do snorkeling and coral sightseeing. The powder like sand and calm waters are the ideal ingredients for a day out exploring marine nature. However, I have to admit that Sandy Island was by far my favorite place to visit. The small yet incredibly gorgeous island, is situated in the middle of the water surrounded by corals that have come to surface and dried out. They come in a million colors and shapes, and make this tiny island one of the most interesting places to visit. The food there is amazing! I had so much seafood during this trip, and I can honestly say they make an amazing coconut shrimp, mango meatballs, and the best lobster in the island. If you are like me and love to check out the local setting then you will fit in at Pumphouse, Dads, and Red Dragon. These bars have a mix of local music with crossover, pop and hip hop, and the ambience is fun and very energetic. I have to say that visiting Anguilla has got to be one of the best experiences in the Caribbean. Their people are warm and welcoming, the food is fresh and flavorful, and the scenery is simpy stunning. For more information please visit www.IvisitAnguilla.com and plan your visit to this wonderful island as soon as possible!

NOT THAT I KNOW NOT OF ITS LOOKS, A BEWITCHINGLY GORGEOUS STANCE, WITH MAGIC HAPPENING EVERY TIME YOU STRIKE A GLANCE AT IT. AND NOW THIS MEMORY WAS ALL I COULD RELY UPON. ZERMATT WAS CAUGHT IN A SNOW BLIZZARD, THE KIND WHERE PEOPLE LOOK UP IN THE SKY AND SAY THANK YOU. IT BROUGHT SNOW. AND MADE US WONDER, ABOUT THE MOST PHOTOGENIC MOUNTAIN IN THE WORLD. WHEN WILL IT APPEAR? Next to a fireplace, eyes wondering about, a glass promenade of a suite, views unobstructed. If its silhouette glimpses out for a moment, this is where I will see it first. the mountainous world in silence. Here you can forget time, forget where you come from, forget where you are going. Enjoy life with all your senses. And the events of the days and nights, however big or small, are never to be forgotten. This is the place where rooms have no numbers, where the philosophy of Being and Time knows no limits, where all things tell a story of the great wide world, where they were forged and now reinvented the days in harmony with the elements.
New York-based architect Ali Tayar. The name of this Mountain Lodge is emblematic if the underlying philosophy. The term “omnis” stems from the Latin meaning “all, everything, whole, complete. With its one-of-a-kind location, interior design, fine cuisine, comprehensive wellness program and the people who stand behind it, it strives to create an environment for complete

For all extraordinary requests, there is always Nikki from Consollusso, your eyes when you can’t see and your ears when it’s being whispered in the village. The man to put all this to practice is Christian Meier from Stoked ski boutique or should I say Mr. Zermatt. If it weren’t for his invitation, a day with Hublot skis would be all but a distant dream. WHEN OUR FRIENDS AT TARGET AND SOULCYCLE INVITED US TO CELEBRATE THEIR NEW PARTNERSHIP ALONGSIDE C9 CHAMPION, WE DID NOT HESITATE TO ATTEND. AT BELLO, WE LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT HEALTH AND FITNESS, SO WE WERE THRILLED TO BE PART OF THIS EVENT. PERSONALLY, I CANNOT JUST “SIT” HERE AND PREACH TO YOU ABOUT FITNESS AND NOT DO IT MYSELF. I love to work out, but I had actually never tried SoulCycle, so I was excited to jump at the opportunity. The moment I walked in the room, I noticed how

it was filled with so much exciment, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Normally, I am not into big classes where everything is so
overhyped but when I tried SoulCycle, it was genuinely a fun experience that I hope everyone gets to try at least once in their life.
40
Our instructor was very energetic and set the right vibe in the room like I’ve never felt before. She kept the momentum going without missing a beat. This was a wonderful way to celebrate the partnership between SoulCycle and Target. After all, Target and Soulcycle are leaders in their industries and we have no doubt they will have success in this new endeavor.
The entire experience is one that I will definitely cherish and hope to have again, so be sure to catch a class at your nearest location and experience a thrilling ride like you never have before. To learn more, visit www.soulcycle.com and get your new C9 Champion gear at your local Target stores.

THIRD SPACE has, in fact, been around for 15 years in London, and has been changing the face of luxury fitness clubs in the capital since its birth in 2001. The last few years have seen a significant change of landscape in the London fitness market, and internationally, too, some might say. Third Space starts 2016 with some exciting new announcements, the first of which, a 43
brand new space in Tower Bridge, was opened last month, on the 13th January. Now, ask yourself a question, why go to a luxury health club? Well, life is about feelings, right? You want an appetizing space to work out in, you want to be surrounded by like-minded individuals, you want some
inspiration at the start, mid, or end of your day, something to look forward to, something that brings an extra spice to your life. BUDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, STAGE PERFORMER AND CHILD ACTOR. COREY FOGELMANIS IS A BOY OF MANY, MANY TALENTS. YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE HIM FROM HIS BELOVED ROLE IN GIRL MEETS WORLD OR FROM HIS ICONIC ROLE AS ‘JOHN’ IN THE LYTHGOE’S STAGE PRODUCTION, PETER PAN AND TINKER BELL – A PIRATES CHRISTMAS, WHICH TOOK PLACE AT THE PASADENA PLAYHOUSE LAST CHRISTMAS. I HAD THE PLEASURE TO SPEAK WITH COREY ABOUT HIS ADORING FANS, HIS LOVE OF PHOTOGRAPHY AND WHAT LIES AHEAD FOR HIM.
You starred in Peter Pan And Tinker Bell – A Pirates Christmas at Pasadena Playhouse last Christmas. Did you enjoy playing ‘John’? Yes! It was an incredible experience. I grew up doing community theatre so it was great being back on stage again. The show was done in the style of a British Panto. It was very audience interactive and we incorporated a lot of current jokes and music into the original storyline. You have a background in theatre and we hear you love to go to plays often. What is it about theatre that peaks your interest? I’ve been going to the theatre basically since I was born. I didn’t actually start appreciating it until I was around three. I’m so fortunate to have been introduced to live theatre at such a young age and it helped me develop an appreciation that I will have for the rest of my life. I love everything about theatre. I love the architecture in the theatres and reading about the actors and the creative team in the Playbill. I love how effortlessly the music, lyrics, lights, and choreography all blendtogether telling a story. I say effortlessly but I know how much effort goes into putting a show up and keep it running. I have so much respect for

stage actors and everyone involved in the creation of this art. One of your biggest roles thus far in your career is playing ‘Farkle Minkus’ in Girl Meets World. What is your favourite thing about the show? I’m proud of the topics and issues the show covers and the possibility that it is relevant to the viewers. I’ve received a lot of feedback from people saying the show has helped them and I’m happy that it can make a difference in their lives. The topics and issues addressed on the show are relatable in many ways. What episode do you think has been most important thus far and why? I don’t want to choose just one episode because we’ve covered such a broad range of topics from bullying to autism to self-acceptance; to me they’re all equally important.
ghost friends with their parents while warding of the evil spirits he upsets in the process. On Instagram you describe yourself as an amateur photographer. Is this something you might consider pursuing more professionally in the future? Yeah, I think so. For now, photography is a way for me to channel my creativity and kind of just shut out the world, but I’m not opposed to doing it professionally in the future. What quote or saying do you live by? I really like the quote “blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine any brighter.” I wouldn’t say I live by this quote but it’s definitely something I try to keep in mind. It’s a nice reminder to focus on yourself and do your best instead of tearing people down to make you feel better about yourself.
You just wrapped Mostly Ghostly 3: One Night in Doom House. Can you tell us a little about the movie and what the fans can expect from your character?
What other projects do you have coming up, anything you can share with us?
Mostly Ghostly 3: One Night in Doom House is the third installment in a series of books by R.L. Stine. It follows my character, Max, as he tries to reunite his

I USE THE TERM AMATEUR WHEN REFERRING TO MYSELF AS A PHOTOGRAPHER. I HAVEN’T BEEN FORMALLY TRAINED OR ANYTHING; I USE TRIAL AND ERROR AND WHAT WORKS FOR ME. I THINK PHOTOGRAPHY IS PARTIALLY HAVING A GOOD EYE, BUT IT’S VERY MUCH A RIGHT-PLACE-RIGHT-TIME KIND OF THING. I ALMOST ALWAYS FIND INSPIRATION FROM MY ENVIRONMENT, SO I CARRY A CAMERA WITH ME EVERYWHERE I GO FOR THE POTENTIAL PHOTO OPS. ALTHOUGH I’M GRATEFUL FOR TECHNOLOGY AND THE DIGITAL CAMERA, I ALSO LOVE OLDER CAMERAS, POLAROIDS AND VIDEO CAMERAS. I’VE NEVER BEEN GREAT WITH A PAINT BRUSH OR VERY EXPRESSIVE WITH WORDS, BUT I’VE ALWAYS FELT COMFORTABLE WITH A CAMERA.
