APRIL 2018 We couldn’t be more excited about this month’s cover story with pop sensation Forever In Your Mind! We got to shoot the three stars just one day before they rocked the stage of the Gift Your Spectrum - Autism Speaks charity gala. Emery, Liam and Ricky didn’t just sing their hearts out, but also walked the runway for PARAVAL, showing everyone they’re comfortable under any type of spotlight. FYIM’s charisma and talent helped turn the event into the huge triumph it was, becoming one of the most successful galas for the organization - not to mention we all had a lot of fun with the BELLO mag team along the way, reflected here in our cover story - as we handpicked brave fashion statements and the guys were game for all of it. BELLO: Can you remember your earliest memory of performing? EMERY: The earliest memory I have was doing the musical Seussical, and I was playing Jojo. I remember performing the song 'Anything Is Possible.'

BELLO: This is the 'Night Drive' question. What's the most epic drive you've ever had in your life? EMERY: For my 18th birthday I got to drive a Lamborghini Gallardo in New York. It was my uncle's and it was so much fun. I hit like 140mph!

BELLO: Who is your greatest musical hero right now? EMERY: Honestly, I wouldn't even say it's one artist. Recently my friends in LA whom I've grown up with are inspiring me a lot these days. My friend Lauren, who goes by the name Lo Nightly, as well as my friends Bozzie and Jake Austin Walker. They're putting out some really great music. But I also love Frank Ocean, Justin Bieber, Adele, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson.

BELLO: This is the 'Dirty Laundry' question. Tell us a funny and embarrassing story about yourself or one of your bandmates. EMERY: There are points over the month -- at least once a month -- when my room is a total mess. I end up having soooo much dirty laundry. There was one day I came home and I couldn't even walk in my room. One time I was so tired coming home from work and there was a bunch of clothes on my bed. I just slept right on top of them.

BELLO: Alexa & Katie is premiered March 23rd on NETFLIX. What's your best memory of shooting that show? EMERY: I would say it was coming to set to hang out with my friends, because we were friends even before the show was greenlit. It was insane to know that I was going to get to work with them. It made the foundation of our friendships stronger, and it strengthened the feelings of mutual love and respect we have for each other.

BELLO: Here is the 'X Did' question. Did you ever break up with someone only to regret it later? EMERY: I would say yes and no. I've been in a couple of relationships, and sometimes ending one of them was better for what was going on in our lives. But there was definitely a breakup that I went through where I thought, "Man, I really wish I said this differently," or "I really wish she said this differently." There's always thoughts and memories like that.

BELLO: The next five questions are the Euphoric questionnaire, based on the title of your EP, and the title of its four songs. First up: when was the last time you felt 'Euphoric'? EMERY: It was finding out that I was going to attend New York Fashion Week. It was the first time to ever be involved in the fashion/modelling industry and I was super pumped about it. I think my next moment of euphoria is going to be when I go to Coachella with my castmates. BELLO: This is the 'Rabbit Hole' question. Tell us what the following lyric means to you: 'I was innocent / but I know, know, know / I'm going down the rabbit hole.' EMERY: To me it represents that I'm not a kid anymore. I'm a 20-year-old guy who does what a 20-year-old guy does: hanging out with friends, going on adventures, having a bit of rebellion. We all need to experience those things.

BELLO: Can you remember your earliest memory of performing? LIAM: It must have been 5, or maybe 4, and Emery (his cousin) and I were in a production of Free To Be You And Me. There was this one scene where we were in a lunch line and we were tigers. I don't remember much else about the show, but that's my earliest memory of performing. BELLO: Who is your greatest musical hero right now? LIAM: I would go with my dad. He plays classic rock and I grew up listening to that, thanks to him. It's my favorite kind of music. I would say if I had to pick one hero from that genre it would be Steven Tyler. My dad was more into the Beatles and Neil Young, and I went more towards Aerosmith.

LIAM: I guess I'd tell the story of when Emery ripped his pants at the Radio Disney Music Awards. I don't know if he was embarrassed about it, but he sat down and his pants ripped. He had to go back and have them stitched up. BELLO: Here is the 'X Did' question. Did you ever break up with someone only to regret it later? LIAM: I haven't had that many relationships that were serious, but any time I did break up with somebody it was a mutual decision for the best.

BELLO: I read you're a huge video game fanatic. What's the one game you couldn't live without? LIAM: I definitely could live without them -- they're not a huge part of my life anymore. But if I had to pick, it would be a game that I consider to be timeless, and it's the Jack & Daxter series, which is on the PS2. I literally keep my PS2 just for that game. LIAM: I think over the holidays while visiting New York. There was something really euphoric about that trip. It was awesome. BELLO: This is the 'Rabbit Hole' question. LIAM: Essentially, it's that feeling when you're so into a person that you end up falling down a hole that you won't be able to escape from. What's the most epic drive you've ever had in your life? LIAM: We did the national anthem at an Indy car race in Indianapolis and I got to drive in an Indy car. BELLO: Can you remember your earliest memory of performing? RICKY: I would say my earliest memory of performing was when I was 10-years-old. I did theatre before that, but my first memory of me performing by myself was when I was in San Antonio. I was a Justin Bieber imitator, and I sang 'Baby', and most of his earlier stuff. I had the earring and the glasses -- I thought I was so cool (laughing). I was performing in the market square where everybody passes by. There's a big Mexican influence there, so that really inspired to get up on stage, and just love what I do. BELLO: Who is your greatest musical hero right now? RICKY: Justin Timberlake has been for my entire life. I would say it's because he's a man of many talents. He's an actor, a singer, a dancer, a writer, a producer. Everything he does in the business is something I aspire to myself. BELLO: What was your best memory from attending this year's New York Fashion Week? RICKY: I would say it was meeting all the amazing people. I always feel comfortable meeting new people, and going to the after parties and connecting with so many in the business was especially great.

BELLO: This is the 'Night Drive' question. What's the most epic drive you've ever had in your life? RICKY: Probably when we did the Indy 500 where we sang the national anthem. Before we went there we went to a race car event at Long Beach were we got to drive in the Indy cars as passengers. I got to go 200mph! BELLO: This is the 'Dirty Laundry' question. Tell us a funny and embarrassing story about yourself or one of your bandmates. RICKY: I have a habit of puking before I go onstage because I get nervous. I don't throw up everytime though, but when I do it's because my nerves got the best of me. BELLO: Here is the 'X Did' question. Did you ever break up with someone only to regret it later? RICKY: No, I don't have any regrets. I think it's all about learning and growing. I'm a big advocate of learning from your mistakes and just moving on. If you regret things you'll never get over them. The very few relationships I've had have never really ended to the point where I regretted it.

BELLO: The next five questions are the Euphoric questionnaire, based on the title of your EP, and the title of its four songs. First up: when was the last time you felt 'Euphoric'? RICKY: Every single day. I try to make sure I'm always feeling happy -- it's the most important feeling. I've been sad before, and I've been happy, and I enjoy being happy more than being sad. I know there will always be challenges in life, but it's important to try hard to be happy, whether it's putting your phone away or even just sitting in a park. BELLO: This is the 'Rabbit Hole' question. Tell us what the following lyric means to you: 'I was innocent / but I know, know, know / I'm going down the rabbit hole.' RICKY: First off, 'Rabbit Hole' came out of us just messing around in the studio. We were thinking of Alice In Wonderland, and it was the darker, more mature song on the EP. We're not as innocent as we were in our Disney past. So the lyrics portray a much deeper meaning than people might think. It's about getting older and experiencing the darker parts of life, and growing from them.

BELLO: The new season of Jessica Jones began March 8th on Netflix. Do you remember when you first got the news of getting the part, and how did you celebrate? J.R.: Yeah, I actually ended up putting myself on a self-tape for a project that I had absolutely no idea what it was, but they did tell me it was a big project, it had already been on the air, and that it was crewing up for its second season. They told me it was big and not to pass on it, so I was like, 'OK, fine.' And I put myself on tape and towards the end of pilot season I got a call to go in for a screen test on it, and again, they didn't reveal much as I was entering the room -- I had to sign a bunch of NDAs (non-disclosure agreements). Slowly I began to realize what it was. Then, of course, the nerves kick in, and soon enough I was in a room with friends of mine who had flown in from all over the place for the audition as well, and we felt like kids in a candy store. Krysten (Jessica Jones) was nice enough to be in the room which made it so much easier to play off the actors -- that was really cool on her part. After that, it was about the longest ten days of my life. I actually got offered another project and they were in second position. So about day eight I was starting to get worried that project number one wasn't going to happen and I would lose project number two. It was the longest ten days of my life, but obviously everything worked out and here we are. BELLO: On the show you play Oscar, who is a single dad. How did you prepare for that? J.R.: That was one of the biggest and coolest things -- getting to play a dad. I've always wanted to do that. As far as preparation, I don't have any kids, but I do have a three-year-old dog that's my everything. I might not have a kid of my own, but the emotions must be pretty damn close. It's all about having something bigger than you to live for and take care of. The little guy who plays my son is such a trooper and amazing artist. It was so fun to play Oscar -- they really built such a multi-faceted character: he's struggling, going through a divorce, and he lives for his son, who is his heartbeat. Also, my character Oscar is the new superintendent in Jessica's building, so me and my son bump into all the characters quite a lot. BELLO: You were already a fan of Jessica Jones, so as a fan, how did you react to the season two storylines? J.R.: What I really liked about the new season is that all the questions I had as a fan at the end of season one get answered in sea-

son two. They really dig into Jessica's storyline, and they go back into her past. They really dig into the backstory of it all. It's very compelling and dark -- I feel it's darker than any of the Marvel series out right now. It's also funny, with lots of dry humor. It's really good and I'm very proud of it. BELLO: Superhero justice boils down to vigilante justice, where these heroes bring criminals to justice outside the confines of the criminal justice system. Do you think there's a place for vigilante justice in the real world, or do you think it's something people should avoid? J.R.: I love the fact that Jessica is the kind of person who is misunderstood. She's trying to do good, she has a good heart, and she really just wants to help people. I think that's an awesome set of character traits, and what's even better is that she's a woman and it's a female-driven show. It's a tricky question though. BELLO: When you were a kid did you ever have any female heroes that you looked up to? J.R.: Yes, my mother. My parents came to this country without knowing a lick of English. Speak of the devil, she's calling me right now (laughing)! We got to America when I was a very young -we left Cuba when I was three-months-old, and I've seen them work their tails off every single day. My dad's in his 70s now and he still works every Saturday. So yeah, I would say my mother is my greatest female superhero for sure. She's quite an amazing woman. BELLO: You also star in the new movie Sun Dogs which is coming out soon on Netflix, about an intellectually-challenged young man who wants to join the military to find more purpose in his life. In that context, what do you find has brought the biggest sense of purpose to your own life? J.R.: What's brought the biggest sense of purpose to my own life, I would say, was finding a profession that allows me to look in a mirror without ever being able to say, 'Aha, I've finally figured out how to be the best actor ever!' That simply does not exist. As actors, we are constantly digging deeper and deeper within ourselves and within our humanity to perfect our craft. It's all about continuous growth, and it's this that motivates me and inspires me to continue studying and learning from so many other terrific actors as well. That really drives me.

BELLO: So it's all about using your craft as a vessel for constant personal growth and evolution?

BELLO: What do your old friends think of everything that's happened to you?

J.R.: Absolutely. I mean, so many times I'll have a hard day, and I've beat myself up, and I'm able to go to work and use any stress or strife and infuse it into my art to turn it into something beautiful. It translates into a day-to-day thing, and it's so freeing. We're very lucky to be able to do what we do. But it's very tricky, too, because you have to continually be peeling those layers, and getting comfortable showing the true essence of these human characters. If it was easy, then everybody would do it. But it's so rewarding in so many ways.

J.R.: Everyone back home knew I had something big to do in this life, and everyone's so supportive. I've still got the same six friends of mine from high school that feels like family. Even though we're all doing our own things right now, I'm still close with them. I've also got a great group of core friends in California now, too. I'm a big believer in how the energy you put out is what you get back. I've got some of the best friendships I could ever ask for in L.A.

BELLO: Valentine's Day is right around the corner. What is your definition of true romance?

BELLO: What would you say is the biggest take home message of Sun Dogs? J.R.: Well, I haven't seen the final edit yet, but I keep hearing how good it is. I guess it's that you can do anything you put your mind to. The script is so funny and Michael Angarano is such a great actor and a great dude. I hear he kills it, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

BELLO: If there's a common thread that connects Jessica Jones and Sun Dogs, I was thinking it might be something along the lines of how unconventional people, or society's misfits, end up becoming heroes. Did you ever feel like a misfit growing up?

J.R.: True romance for me is to be able to find someone who elevates your game in a way that allows you to continue down your path and not veer off that because of insecurity or lack of communication. Love is love and it's a beautiful thing, but you need to find someone who's not only your best friend but who believes in you, supports you, and allows you to continue down your path. And it goes the other way too. You've got to be unconditional supporters of each other. Jessica Jones now streaming on Netflix. Sun Dogs will stream on Netflix soon as well.

J.R.: Well, not really to be honest. There was a language barrier in the beginning when I first came to the States from Cuba. Also, I was very overweight as a child. But I've always been very, very comfortable in my own skin. I never really much cared about what other people thought. My parents gave me an amazing childhood and they instilled in me the correct values in my soul, but no, I never had any 'misfit trauma' in my childhood. No issues like that.

BELLO: So on a lighter note, what is your biggest guilty pleasure? J.R.: Cheeseburgers. I'd say food -- right now, for example, I'm in New Orleans working, so I don't know why I'm paying for personal trainers (laughing).

WE CAN ONLY EXPECT A LOT MORE TO COME! Since a very young age, it seems like you’ve had such a passion for performing. Can you describe to us your love of music and acting? I grew up performing, dancing, and acting so it’s something I’ve been so comfortable with and always had a huge love for. I knew it was what I wanted to be doing the rest of my life and I’m lucky I’ve gotten the opportunity to. How would you best describe your music? Growing up dancing, I’ve always loved music that was upbeat and that I could dance to, so I would describe my music very upbeat and fun. Where do you get your inspiration from? What are some of your favorite topics to sing about? It’s always a different process when I’m in the studio writing another song - sometimes it’s about my own experience, a friend’s experience, or just a made-up topic! I don’t have a favorite topic to sing about, though it seems to usually be love and relationships because I feel everyone can relate to that. Your single, “Karma’s Not Pretty” reached #8 on the UK MTV Most Watched Video Charts, Top #10 in the VIVA Online charts, and won the Academia Music Award for “Best Pop Song” in 2013. Tell us about the experience overall. How was it achieving such quick success and seeing those highlights? The reaction I got from “Karma’s Not Pretty” was crazy! It was such an amazing feeling that people loved that song as much as I did. I got to spend a lot of time in London at that time to promote it which will forever be one of my favorite experiences. On that note, how was it opening up for Demi Lovato? If you could perform alongside anyone else today who would it be? Opening for Demi was a dream come true! I had been a fan and so getting the opportunity to meet her and share a stage with her was incredible. if I could perform with anyone today... I would love to perform with Taylor Swift, I am a big fan of hers and love her latest album! Or Little Mix. I met them while I was in the UK, they’re so talented and such sweet girls!

What are some of your professional goals? What would that “OMG I’ve made it” moment be for you? Professional goals would be to go on tour. Definitely one goal next on my list! One thing many of our readers may not know about you is how charitable you are. You’ve not only hosted an annual UNICEF party but have been involved in various other charities. Tell us what inspires you to get involved, charities you’ve been involved in the past and what you hope for this year’s UNICEF party. I love working with UNICEF and have been involved with them for years, another charity I’m passionate about is ISF (Ian powerholder foundation). Another charity I’ve helped with the last few years that helps animals. I am a huge animal activist! It seems like you recently had such a great shoot with Bello Mag! Can you describe to us your style? My style is constantly changing, it’s such a mix! I’d say it’s girly and edgy at the same time. On Instagram, your fans know you are back in the recording studio which I know must be a blast for you. What do you have coming up? When can we expect a full album? I am back in the studio and so excited for what’s to come! A new single will be out in the next month, and an EP hopefully by the end of the year. What are some words you would like to give to your fans? Thanks for sticking by me since the beginning and I can’t wait for you all to hear my new music and see what’s in store for the future!

WITH A PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND AS A REALTOR, MEMBER OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, FOCUSED MARTIAL ARTIST, AND NOW MODEL, WE KNOW MICHAEL IS ONE THREAT TO HIS FELLOW CONTESTANTS. REGARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME OF HIS PERFORMANCE ON THE CBS HIT SHOW, WE KNOW MICHAEL IS DEFINITELY ONE MODERN DAY SURVIVOR! by Ed Solorzano Currently, you are the youngest member of the “Survivor: Ghost island” cast. Was there any specific strategy you came onto the show with? I knew going into the game that my age would come off as a disadvantage, so my strategy on the show was to conceal my real age and present myself as a 23 year old. I figured that my youth and lack of life experience would cause my tribe members to think I was naive and immature without first getting to know me. Adding those 5 years gives me some credibility and puts me on an even playing field with my fellow components. I am one of few 18 year olds to ever play the game and I want to be the youngest winner ever. The other young contestants who played suffered from stereotypes and status quo's and that was not something I was willing to have impact my game. Fortunately, thus far in the game, everyone has believed my lie... so stay tune to see if I can keep it going! What was the biggest shock you had in filming the show. Was there something that you were completely not prepared for? Honestly, my biggest surprise while filming the show was how truly authentic the game is. I always kind of figured that there would be some behind-the-scenes Hollywood aspects to it, so I was dumbfounded to find out how real they make the game for the castaways. It made me so pleased to find out that the game I know and love is true to it roots. We really slept on the ground, we really ate close to nothing each day, and we really busted our asses in the challenges. Was “Survivor” a competition series you always wanted to be on? If so, why, and would there be any other reality show you would participate after? I grew up watching the show since I was 8 years old with my mom. It was one of our ways of bonding during teenage years when things can be difficult. I always told her that I want to play one day, but I never thought I'd be able to do it so soon! I love the adventure and challenge of it all, so for me to get to experience it 1st hand was an utter dream. I would probably play Survivor again and I could definitely see myself transition into other CBS shows such as Amazing Race or Big Brother. Maybe even MTV's The Challenge. I would love to bring my A game to them as well! Although many may know you from the world of modeling you are also a real estate agent, Eagle Scout and hold a blackbelt in Taekwondo, Jiu Jitsu, and Hapkido. Tell us something that most people may not know about you. Something most people don't know about me is that I graduated a year early from high school in Knoxville, Tennessee. I was worked full time for a medical military manufacturing company during that time to save up so I could move out to California. I packed my car up to the ceiling and drove out to LA the morning of my 18th birthday.

Youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve attended the IceLink Bello Style Party held this past month which held a red carpet and celebrity guests in attendance. How has your life changed since joining one of the longest running reality show competition series? I did attend the IceLink Bello Style Party with some good friends of mine and we all had an absolute blast. It was a night to remember and I'm thankful that you all had us out to celebrate! Since the show first aired, I've been able to meet lots of incredible people and expand my sphere of influence in the process. Due to new opportunities, I also quit my full-time job at the investment firm I've been working for... which was an extremely hard decision. It was a dream job and I do hope to return in some capacity throughout my real estate investment endeavors. Youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve met Oprah. What did you talk about? The only word that comes to mind when thinking of Oprah is heavenly. I had heard the most amazing things about her prior to our time together. It's always nice to find out that those things are indeed true. She was the most kindhearted woman i've ever met, with quite the place! Her property in Montecito, commonly referred to as "The Promised Land", was like out of a fairy-tail. She told me about her new book, The Wisdom Of Sundays, and shared some of the meaning behind it. Any lasting words for the readers of Bello? I just want to thank everyone at Bello for welcoming me into their family and letting their readers to get to know a little bit more about me. I had the best time working with the team and i'm so thankful for the opportunity to be featured in this issue! Also a huge thank you to my superb agents at LA Models. Celebrity friends, philanthropists and fashionistas all gathered together at the private residence of by P&L Media Emmy Event Producers, Lisa Lew and Peter Brennan, creators of shows including Judy Judy, for a night of fun and charity. Celebrated talent manager Brandon Cohen and award-nominated filmmaker and author, Raoul Mongilardi (The Changing Face of Autism) treated guests to a fashion show, silent auction, live performances, and more! As if getting together over drinks and raising funds isn’t enough, guests received a special welcome introductory speech followed by unique performances held during the fashion show produced by Maison Privée PR. Grammy Award Winning Group “All-4-One” and our friends “Forever in Your Mind” performed their hits and were the highlight of the entertainment. The fashion show featured 3 designers and brands: Paraval, One Trieu Yeu (by designers Gordana Gehlhausen and Skye Drynan) and Jacob Meir’s “For The Stars Fashion House” with celebrity models walking the specially designed runway over the estate’s pool. In raising funds for Autism Speaks, guests were able to bid in a silent auction with items from Christian Louboutin, Tyler Shields, Helen Ficalora, MLB Players Association, and LA Lakers,

Popular music is often said to write its own story, representing its own generation and the problems that they are currently facing. Traditionally, it captures the attitude of the times and embodies the struggles and successes of those who lived through it. The most popular music of any time is that which speaks to the public on a deep, emotional level, embodying their very thoughts and feelings. But as generations age and the tribulations that they face evolve, so does their taste in music. In the near past, the loud reverb of the electric guitar, the hotel-destroying rockstar, and the gut-wrenching lyrics once symbolized the struggles of the youth and spoke to them on an emotional level. Rock was a way of rebelling against the system and invigorating the world to make a change. But with changing times comes shifting issues and a new generation of music aficionados. And what once was the dominating genre of the young has now slowly begun to fade out of the limelight as a new generation arises. With 2018 comes a new genre of music dominating the scene – European house music. Popular since the 90’s in dance halls and clubs of Europe, this style of music is making a comeback in the US in a big way with the younger generations and millenials. This upbeat dance and techno style perfectly encapsulates the vibrancy and futurism of today’s youth as well as their appreciation of the past, infusing the ‘classics’ with a new wave of contemporary influences – namely, the return of the DJ. THE RISE OF THE DJ With the popularity of European house music on the rise, it’s no wonder that the superstar DJ of the 90’s is making an unexpected comeback, too. Gone are the days of the rockstar – now, it’s all about the DJ. But, this time around, they’re making their names in a whole new way – by becoming the faces of the underground. Rather than focusing on attaining the celebrity status of the high-profile DJs of the past through sticking to traditional genres – house or techno – the modern artist is one who infiltrates the social sphere of an unexpected niche, becoming the face of their musical movement. You won’t find them playing sold out arenas or at LA’s hottest clubs. Rather, you’ll find them where you’d least expect them – in other genres. DJs have begun to infiltrate different styles of music all across the board, spinning in the background, helping artists produce, or simply making a ‘guest appearance’ in their songs. This trend is especially prevalent in the worlds of hip-hop and pop, with up-and-coming DJs showcasing their talents in nearly every popular song out there. This style of music obviously has a powerful appeal to the youth, as reflected in its growing popularity. That being said, we can assume that the pervasiveness of the DJ is on the rise and that they are here to stay (at least for now). So what’s next for this generation of music – the return of the superstar DJ or something entirely different? Only time will tell.
