ROSE MCIVER LIGHTS UP THIS SPOOKY SEASON Halloween is around the corner and what better way than to kick off Spooky season with CBS’ up-and-coming series, GHOSTS. Starring in the hauntingly hilarious series, Rose Mclver is thrilled
for GHOSTS to finally come out in which she was “able to play alongside such a stellar cast.”
A cast filled with actors playing characters from
different eras, “we get to see dramatically different
viewpoints, moral codes and interpretations of modern day affairs,” she shared. Every person on set brought their own authentic and brilliant self which stuck with Rose who was in a dream working with such “genuinely good people.”
March, the “green light” was given and the cast and crew were headed towards Montreal to finally start filming. “We had a lot of time to anticipate.
To overthink things. To read and watch as much relevant material as possible,” Rose explained. “To connect as a group on the most long-running
text thread I'd ever experienced with a bunch of
people who had essentially barely met in person.” Challenge definitely accepted!
A bonding experience like no other, by the time
they headed on to set it was as though a reunion
Made up of skilled improvisers, actors, and
comedians, it's safe to say that the filming
process was an experience like no other. Grateful
for having a job and positive environment in which she could fully immerse herself through these trying times, Rose takes it all in with open
arms and a warm heart. When she first read the
script, she was immediately hooked by the humor
of it. “Often, when you're reading a project, you can see the parameters of the world it exists in
- but on this show the variety of directions the
story could take seem infinite,” she added. “All
of the different time periods that can be flashed back to, the new arrivals we could gain, the predicaments Samantha and Jay could end up
in. The opportunities just seemed so much more expansive than on many of the scripts I'd read.”
Having booked this role right before the pandemic
hit, it’s safe to say that the road of production was a long one. The majority of 2020 was spent
awaiting the start date of shooting the pilot which

finally came in December of that year. Starting
was happening. “GHOSTS was a bright light on
the horizon for the cast during these uncertain times,” she shared wholeheartedly. “And we really
hope that it's able to provide that bright spark of entertainment to the audience now too.” I don’t know about you guys but simply based on the
trailer, it seems like the show will be doing exactly just that and more!
The series’ integration of humor and ghosts
highlights a different side of the dead that is notoriously known for their scare factor. Now, of
course, Samantha and Jay are initially terrified
when they discover their existence but once they realize these ghosts aren’t going anywhere, “they need to see these ghosts as humans with human
desires to be heard and to make peace with their
time on earth as "livings".” They can no longer look at them as scary beings but “instead as complex entities that need to be interpreted and understood,” Rose explained. “Which feels like an
apt comparison to how we should look at our fears in general.”

And speaking of fear, we were curious to know what the actress fears the most to which she opened up, “I used to be a very fearful person. I
have battled a lot with anxiety in my life and have
really worked to deconstruct my fears.” Continuing to work on herself every day, Rose recognizes that her worrying is a “utile coping mechanism.” With
time and patience, she actively stops worrying about worrying. She wishes she could say her fear was something such as “sharks” or “heights” but “unfortunately my fears reached broadly across a
lot of what I couldn't control in life and SPOILER
that's everything,” she added. However, it pushes her to inspire others to keep pushing through
their own fears which can also “be so much more manageable with support and a good therapeutic tool kit.” I feel that!
who is a photographer, the actress witnessed her parents fulfilling their dreams over the years.
Having such parents and brother as her support
network growing up, “the idea of "becoming an actor" was never scoffed at or reduced. My family
all really value the arts and I am extremely aware that to work doing a job this creatively rewarding is an immense privilege.” That kind of love and support is priceless.
With hard work, passion, and a positive outlook on life, Rose Mclver reminds us to focus on the
good around us and to embrace all that comes our way. Surrounded by amazing individuals both
in her personal and work life, the talented actress is excited for the audience to see for themselves
what GHOSTS is really made of. “In a funny way,
It’s amazing to see and hear about one’s success
story in overcoming their fears and anxieties. In our world, there is so much good and at times
just as much bad but with the right attitude and surrounded by the right people, you can achieve anything! Rose’s experience on GHOSTS
proves that. “I think the amount of time we have spent together as a whole group has helped the
musicality of the scenes. We really are getting a deeper and deeper understanding of how this band plays together,” she shared. “Who plays the bass guitar and who is the wailing sax.”
this show is not just joyful escapism but also a reminder of how much we truly rely on community. No matter how differently we might think or behave from each other.”
Hoping to play a villain soon, Rose is also
“hankering to do some more theatre if we happen to see more of that emerge again as we grapple
with the pandemic” she shared. Furthermore, she
has also been working on a few projects which she hopes to write and direct. “I have such a love of story and engaging my brain on projects from the concept stage has been an exciting new journey
Of course, Rose has also always had the loving support of her family who have provided her with
guidance and who she looks up to. Having grown up with a mom who is a sculptor and a father
for me. The solitude of writing is unfamiliar and takes some getting used to, as I’ve always had such
collaborative experiences as an actor.” Ready to take it all on and dive into new experiences, Rose Mclver, we can't wait to see what comes next!

DA'VINCHI
DA’VINCHI, WHO STARS IN THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED STARZ SERIES, “BLACK MAFIA FAMILY” FROM EXECUTIVE PRODUCER CURTIS “50 CENT” JACKSON(POWER, POWER BOOK II: GHOST, FOR LIFE), PLAYS THE LEAD ROLE OF THE INFAMOUS ‘TERRY FLENORY.’ HAVING ALWAYS KNOWN HE WANTED TO BE IN THE "STORYTELLING BUSINESS," THERE WAS NO DOUBT HE WOULD LAND IN THE WORLD OF ARTS! HIS ROLE IN THE SERIES MARKS A MAJOR STEPPING STONE FOR HIS CAREER AS HE COSTARRED WITH AMAZING ACTORS AND ACTRESSES! ALSO MAKING HIS DEBUT ON BROADWAY, DA'VINCHI IS SOARING HIGH!
Why did you decide to become an actor? What drew you in the most?
On set of, BLACK MAFIA FAMILY, what was one of your favorite moments?
I’ve always loved movies and storytelling ever since I was a kid. Growing up, whenever I would watch scenes to my favorite movies, my brothers and I would start acting them out. I didn’t really consider it as a legitimate career path until college, but I always dreamed of what it would be like to ‘make it.’ In college, I took an acting class and my professor told me that I really should consider it as a career. Not long after I landed my first role in “Jessica Jones” and the rest is history!
One of my favorite memories on set is when I was playing spades with Snoop Dogg, and I made him lose by accident because I was trying to multitask and ended up distracting him. This was during lunch, and we were so into the game that Randy had to come find us to get us back on set.
Growing up, what role did film/television play in your life? In what ways did it help you?
I really connected with Ajiona Alexus, who plays ‘Kato.’ We were able to relate a lot and I was always able to vent to her whenever I was feeling stressed or overwhelmed. We were each other’s confidant on set for sure.
I was always fascinated with the moviemaking process. I love the behind-the-scenes blooper series, I used to be so intrigued by those extras. I love storytelling and I think you can heal, motivate, and help people through TV and Film. I’ve been inspired by certain movies I’ve watched that have had a lasting impact on my life.
29
Who did you connect with the most on set? Do you have any impactful stories to share?
What did you learn about yourself on that set? I learned a lot about myself on set. The biggest lesson for me was that when my back is against a wall and I’m really under

to it. This is also the first time in history that there’s been an all-black cast on Broadway and from such an interesting perspective. The play is about seven emotions, from lust, love, passion, depression, anger, wisdom, and happiness. It tells a story from all those emotions from the point of view of a black man in this country. It tackles a lot of important topics and I think this is going to be a very powerful play. I hope everyone enjoys it!
You are also making your debut on Broadway, congrats! Why did you originally audition for Thoughts of a Colored Man? Thank you! I was excited to get into theatre because it’s the last avenue of acting that I haven’t gotten to do yet. Theatre is a different animal and I think it’s going to elevate me to a new level in my career.
Share with us something most people do not know about you.
How are you feeling about being in the first Broadway play since shutdown?
Most people don’t know that I’m fluent in two languages, English is not my first language, and I can play the piano.
It’s historical. I feel honored to be a part of it. What are you most looking forward to about this performance?
What comes next? Thoughts of a Colored Man staring it’s run in the beginning of October.
For me, this is the first time I’ll be playing a role from beginning to end with pretty much no breaks, and with a live audience. I think this will be challenging and I’m looking forward

I definitely struggled with my confidence when I was younger. I was constantly comparing myself to my friends at school, and feeling like in order

Congratulations on your swimwear!!! What inspired you to launch it?
Thank you!!! I was inspired to launch it when
I noticed that a lot of swim brands don’t offer inclusive sizes. They typically all stop at size XL, so I wanted to offer 2XL and 3XL in my
collection, as well. Additionally, a lot of plus-size swimwear isn’t the cutest in my opinion, and
always offers an excessive amount of coverage. I feel like bigger women are always told to cover
up and their clothes always cover so much of their bodies – so, I wanted to make a change.
We offer plus-size swimwear that makes you feel sexy and shows off your curves, rather than hides them.
Can you describe it to us a little more? I collaborated with a small company based in Toronto, Canada, called Pebbles and Palms. They actually found me on TikTok one year ago,

I plan on changing the industry by offering more size-inclusive pieces! I want to show others
that you can rock a string bikini even in a bigger body. I want to get rid of the stigma that if you’re
bigger, you must automatically want to cover
yourself more. I work on changing this stigma through swimwear and other clothing, as well.
Any advice you would like to give to our readers? I would like to let readers know that they are enough!! If we all stopped seeking validation externally, and instead looked internally, we

TRIBE x ART:
A NEW KIND OF COSMETICS HERE AT BELLO, WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE TRIBE, A MAKEUP LINE FOR MEN. FOUNDED BY MATT RODRIGUES AND PERGRIN PERVEZ, THEY DECIDED TO STEP FOOT IN UNKNOWN TERRITORY IN THE WORLD OF COSMETICS. AFTER ALL, WHEN WE THINK ABOUT MAKEUP, OUR MINDS GO DIRECTLY TO "WOMEN" BUT WHY? WE ARE ALL HUMANS AND WHY SHOULD OUR SKINCARE BE DEFINED BY GENDER? GETTING TO SPEAK WITH THE FOUNDERS, THEY SPOKE TO US ABOUT THE STORY BEHIND TRIBE, THE OBSTACLES THEY HAVE FACED, AND MUCH MORE. TRIBE COLLABORATED WITH THREE NY FASHION WEEK TASTE MAKERS WHO REPRESENT THE BEST OF FASHION, CREATIVITY, AND CONFIDENCE IN THEIR FIELDS OF HAIR, MAKE-UP, AND DESIGN. THEY CHALLENGED THESE THREE TASTE MAKERS (JAMAL SCOTT, MATTHEW ARDEL AND DANIEL AVSHALUMOV) TO DESIGN LIMITED EDITION VERSIONS OF TRIBE’S CLASSIC PACKAGING TO BE PROMOTED DURING SEPTEMBER’S NY FASHION WEEK 2021. MAKE SURE TO KEEP READING ON!
“When we conceptualized this collaboration, New York was opening back up. People were returning, bright lights were beginning to shine again and the resiliency and togetherness of New Yorkers was starting to pay off. We wanted to celebrate that and give our City something to find joy in. New York Fashion Week is the first major event in the City post strict lock downs so we felt it was the right time to celebrate safely and be a beacon of solemn happiness for people.” -Pergin Pervez, Co-Founder, TRIBE
What is the story behind TRIBE? How did you guys meet? Pergrin and I met through a mutual friend a few years ago. Fast forward to the next time him and I met up, we were in Paris. We've quickly developed a strong bond and wanted to get into business together. One day when we were back in New York, Pergrin had a meeting in the afternoon but had a blemish he wanted to cover up. We walked into the nearest Sephora and asked where we can find the makeup for men section. The very nice associate replied, "makeup is gender neutral", so as we accepted that, we continued to browse the isles and noticed the models in the ads and marketing

were all females. That's when we thought to ourselves, we need to come up with a solution geared towards men, so men would feel comfortable walking into a store and purchasing the same solution that women purchase when they want to fix their imperfections. That solution is makeup.

While building this company, what are some challenges you faced and how did you overcome them? Because Tribe was founded during COVID, shipping and production delays were at an all time high for us. Many factories and fulfilment centers were closed due to the pandemic and the uncertainty. We were able to find a few local labs that were still operational to fill our product, which got us over the many weeks of delays.

Can each of you tell us what this company means to you? How has this journey helped you individually? As partners?
Absolutely LOVE that you are making cosmetics for men. I mean we are all human after all and have skin! However, have you encountered people who believe men and makeup don't go together? If so, how did you handle it? Absolutely! This is the entire reason we created Tribe. As you said, we all have skin! This is the challenge we face every day through awareness, education, continuing to promote images normalizing the wearing of makeup for men. What kind of advice would you give to anyone starting their business?
This company is about changing the conversation and removing the stigma around men wearing makeup. As humans, we all want to feel comfortable in our own skin. Everyone has their own imperfections when it comes to their face, but why is it okay for half of society to fix those imperfections, but not the other half? Pergrin and I, along with every other guy, have at some point in our lives, used our mom's/sister's/girlfriend's concelear, because we were made to feel embarrassed to get our own. We want to enable men to feel confident in their own skin.
Matt and I have wanted to start a business together for some time, before we started Tribe. We continuously thought of different ideas, but nothing seemed to click, until we came up with the idea for Tribe because we were both passionate about helping other people. This was greater than us, this was beyond wanting to secure a financial future, and beyond simply just being in business together. This is a passion project, so this is our advice to anyone wanting to start a business - be passionate about it, because this is going to be your life.
Working on Tribe has really expanded our view on how much society shapes an individual with preconceived frameworks that are often not just, and are arbitrary to one idea. We think the world could be a better place if we joined the effort to take down some of these institutalized stigmas. In what ways did you each discover new things about yourselves? We both discovered the importance of friendship and spending some meaningful time on things other than work that truly enrich life. What do beauty and skincare mean to you? Beauty means to us- the freedom to put your best self forward, whether it's buying the clothes, getting the haircut, whatever it may be to make yourself feel that way. We chose to focus on what we considered the last frontier for men, your face.

begins with hydration - drinking lots of water, cleansing, then applying a moisturizer with hyaluron, such as Tribe, adding color cosmetics to complete your look Any personal stories (happened to you or someone told you about) in which there was a drastic change from zoom calls before using your products and after? I'd like to share one customer's very heartfelt testimonial with you: I heard about your company, yesterday, from an article in the NY Post on men using more cosmetics for Zoom calls. I immediately ordered your product, from that article. Although I am in a wheelchair, and 65 years old, I take great pride in my appearance, especially during many Zoom calls I have throughout the day. I am a practicing attorney, and also a patient advocate. I like to look healthy and tan..." It's helping people like this that make all the sweat and tears worth it.
About the 2021 Tribe Collaboration Artists:
About Jamal Scott Brooklyn, New York raised Jamal Scott was always destined to be in the limelight of creative arts. Born to Trinidadian heritage, a young Jamal would pursue a spectrum of creative arts, including learning to sew at age four under the direction of his beloved grandmother, before finally discovering after college his true passion for storytelling through make-up artistry. “I’ve always wanted to become a voice for designers’ creativity. I understand the character they are trying to convey with their designs, and make- up helps tell the story,” he says with a smile. Having worked alongside the world’s top designers, “New York Fashion Week to me is about instant gratification, exhaustion, family reunions and is my favourite part about being an MUA .” Jamal agreed to add his creativity to Tribe’s NYFW collaboration because “I support empowering anyone who wants to do what they want to do.” He continues, “Everyone should understand that their favourite actor or their favourite athlete is wearing make-up, and it’s about feeling your most confident, and that should be available to everyone. Make-up is part of your skin care routine and is your final step in being prepared for your day”.

About Matthew Ardel: Matthew Ardell, model, artist, and gallery professional, resides and works in New York City. Matthew started work at Pace Gallery in 2018 and soon after signed with Wilhelmina in 2019. Matthew’s work is influenced by reflections on material, open space, and ephemerality. His work is an exploration of the sense of solitude evoked in transience. Matt studied Fine Art at the Fashion Institute of Technology. When asked what New York Fashion Week meant to him, Matt responded, “ New York City has always represented a place where I had the freedom to be myself. NYFW is the embodiment of the New York freedom of spirit interpreted by vanguard designers through their own unique aesthetics and voices. As the city starts to feel more like the New York we know and love, this year's NYFW will be an exciting preview into the future of fashion, redefined.” Furthermore, when meeting Matt’s collaboration with Tribe cosmetics, Matt believes that skincare is an integral part of life and his daily routine. Matt spoke on the collaboration stating that, “As an artist, makeup and skincare are like another medium for me, so it feels natural to combine these aspects of my life in this collaboration with Tribe Cosmetics.” Additionally, Matt believes in the changing of norms, he likes to think one step further and to defy norms. According to Matt, “This means creating space and acceptance for all the ways myself and others diverge from what is traditional or "normal".”
About Daniel Avshalumov: Daniel Avshalumov, born in Belarus, flew to the United States at around the age of 2. Throughout his childhood years, Daniel consumed most of his time learning many expressive art forms, such as music and dance. When asked about music, Daniel indicated, “Ever since I was young, I enjoyed classical music. I enjoyed classics like "Canon", as well as more modern pieces, like "River Flows in You", from Twilight.” Listening to classical music was always Daniels way to unwind after a long day. His attention to the arts stretched to the practice of dance. Dancing through the years helped Daniel develop a strong sense of discipline and respect that he was able to apply beyond the dance floor. In 2019, Daniel got signed and began college. Around this time, Daniel began interning at a software company, pursing his dream of becoming a computer science engineer. According to Daniel, “As I continue on my professional journey, I hope to inspire creativity and contribute my knowledge and abilities to an ever-growing world.” Besides, New York is considered a melting pot, not only because of the many different types of people who come here, but also stems from the fact that the city makes us all one collective society. If you lived in New York City most of your life, you would recognize not only the glamorous side, but also the gritty and punishing side as well. As one of the foremost cities in the world, NYFW is not just the birthplace of many fashion trends and statements; it additionally portrays the struggle throughout the years of several different designers, photographers, models, etc.
