Letter From the Lifestyle Team

HAYLEY SMITH YOUR LIFESTYLE MANAGER

Welcome to Summer!

As the warm weather settles in, many of our beloved snowbirds have headed north for the season. While we’ll miss the enthusiasm they bring, I want to assure you that our community remains as lively as ever, with a calendar full of fun events to enjoy.

Although we will see slightly lower numbers over the hot months of summer, we’ve curated a diverse and engaging lineup to keep everyone entertained and active. Coming up, we will have a Red Eye Gator Tour at Lake Ward where we will experience the thrill of spotting alligators in their natural habitat under the moonlight as well as a CPR Class so you can equip yourself with essential life-saving skills. We’ll also discover backstage magic and learn about the history or our local performing arts scene, learn the best foods for a healthy heart, participate in a community litter cleanup project, beat the heat with an ice cream social, and relax and rejuvenate with a session of gentle yoga right next to the manatees at the Bishop Science Museum!

We hope to see you at these events, as your participation is what makes our community so special.

Remember, we are always looking to improve and expand our offerings. I welcome your suggestions and ideas for new activities and events. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to my inbox with your thoughts. I’m here to listen and ensure our Lifestyle program reflects the interests and desires of everyone in our community.

How to Clean Wine Glasses Properly

FEATURED IN HOMES AND GARDENS!

National Manager of Food, Beverage & Culinary Experience, Patrick Scully, was recently featured in Homes and Gardens, where he shared tips and best practices for keeping your wine glasses in pristine condition!

TIP! – Use a coffee filter to polish your glasses! – Patrick shares, “This is a hack we use in restaurants and hotels because coffee filters won’t leave any lint and absorb any leftover water. Even lint-free microfiber rags can leave fabric particles.”

Top Tips for Hand Drying Wine Glasses:

» Hold the glass by the stem versus the bowl so you don’t smudge the glass when wiping the exterior.

» If there is no stem – or it’s time to dry the inside – have a microfiber towel in the hand that is holding the bowl/glass if it’s not large enough to cover your hand.

» After drying, ensure there’s no residue by holding the glasses up to a light.

» After your glasses are dry, place them over a bowl of hot water and allow the steam to enter the glass and kiss the outside. Just be careful not to burn yourself. Then, give them a quick polish.

Ultimately, properly cleaning wine glasses is about more than just hygiene and aesthetics, it’s essential to preserve the flavor of each wine. “You need to clean your wine glasses after each use, especially when switching between different wines. This gets rid of any lingering residue that can change the flavor,” explains Patrick. “Different shapes, sizes, or materials can enhance or diminish the subtle flavors and aromas. Like how to store wine in your kitchen, quality glasses deserve quality care so true lovers of wine can fully savor each varietal.”
