News from AV Homes By David Smith, Division President of AV Homes, Inc.
I
t’s hard to believe that we’re approaching the end of 2014. It’s been a fantastic year for Vitalia at Tradition with a record number of new homes sales in the triple digits and welcoming home residents from across the world. In addition to new home sales, Vitalia also revealed brand-new home designs this past October. Complementing an active adult lifestyle, these new floorplans feature spacious studies off the foyer, grand open floorplans, gourmet kitchens, and super-flex rooms. As the most reliable Vitalia information depot, check in for community updates, upcoming events, and more at the new homes sales center. If you have yet to see the newest Vitalia floorplans, hop in your golf cart and make your way over to visit with the friendly Vitalia sales team. These new designs are already making waves within the community and are a must-see. Next time friends or family come to visit, make
sure to bring them by so they too can feast their eyes upon these stunning new plans with names applauding some of Florida’s most beautiful beaches. With new home closings every week, catch a new resident in the act and give them a special welcome home. Vitalia is a community defined by the folks who call this home, which is why we’ve taken resident-centered planning to all new levels. From stunning home designs with features and options that are important to you, to the state-of-the-art resident clubhouse with a qualified staff and lifestyles team, Vitalia at Tradition was envisioned and carried out to deliver that active lifestyle our residents seek and we’re happy you’ve decided to call it home. Vitalia Customer Service
I Jannell McDonald Community Manager 321-332-1871 jmcdonald@aamfl.com
have been asked to define the difference between all of the different branches that make up the customer service areas of Vitalia. As we have grown and added so many new residents to Vitalia, the vast networks of customer service departments end up working hand in hand with each other. However, that can make it difficult for a new resident to understand just who to contact when they have an issue and what entities manage which areas. The advisory committee has asked me to take this opportunity to explain who does what.
ISSUES INSIDE YOUR HOME AV Homes Customer Care handles warranty issues within the new homes. They should be called for garage door issues, cabinet issues, and electrical issues within the home, etc. Their customer care department can be reached by calling 800-858-5933 or by visiting their online owner-care portal at www. avhomesinc.com.
ISSUES OUTSIDE YOUR HOME AAM and the community manager should be contacted for issues or questions about landscaping and irrigation in the common areas and at your home, architectural review, and compliance. We ask that you first call the AAM Customer Service Department at 866516-7424, email csr@aamfl.com, or visit the community website at VitaliaAtTradition.com for landscaping issues. The Customer Service Department can then issue a work order to
4   Vitalia Voice | November 2014
Girard. Work orders allow the information to be given to Girard and allow for a trail of service requests that can be tracked. For emergencies and after hour issues, please call 866-553-8290. The preferred way to contact me is by email at jmcdonald@aamfl.com, as it can be difficult to return your calls as I am frequently out on properties and/or away from my desk.
WATERWAYS, CDD, PRESERVE AREAS, AND TRADITION MASTER ASSOCIATION QUESTIONS The Waterways, CDD, Preserve Areas, and Tradition Master Association are managed by Fishkind and Associates. AAM does contact their office regularly with your questions and concerns, but AAM cannot do any work within the borders of the waterways and preserve areas unless they are given permission by Fishkind or the CDD.
LIFESTYLES ISSUES If you have a comment, constructive criticism, or issue with the Lifestyles Department or with the Captiva Club, you can contact Lisa Naylor at lnaylor@aamfl.com or at 772-800-2506. The Front Desk staff can also assist you with questions and issues. We have also recently added a suggestion box for your comments and questions in the lobby area. This box is checked weekly. Most suggestions will be discussed in the monthly Meet Your Manager Coffee Talks. Have a Wonderful and Safe Holiday season!

Meet Debbie!
Lisa Naylor Lifestyles Director lnaylor@aamfl.com
With November being the month of Thanksgiving, it reminds me how grateful I am to know all the great folks of Vitalia! It’s truly a pleasure to come to work every day! Your entire Lifestyles Team is excited to be a part of all the upcoming social events and parties planned for the Captiva Club. Our staff is growing and I’m sure you have seen some new faces recently. I will be showcasing a member of the Lifestyles Team each month so you can get to know us better.
•
Lifestyle events are open to guests the second month of sales if the event has not been sold out. The first month of ticket sales is strictly for residents and the second month is then open for guests if tickets are still available. Lifestyles Ticket Sales will be the first Monday of every month beginning at 9am (via checks made out to Vitalia HOA). All social clubs are welcome to also sell their event tickets on this day.
This month, it is my pleasure to highlight Debbie Chisholm who has been on staff here the longest at Vitalia for four years. Debbie is from Canterbury, a city southeast of London, England. After moving to Canada, she met and married her husband Doug and they have two children, Katherine and Brent. They have been in Florida over 30 years where Debbie has been designing her jewelry and traveling to art shows all over the state. Debbie also enjoys teaching our Art Classes at the Captiva Club and she said, “You are all very talented.”
•
We are pleased to announce that three of our H2O Aerobics Classes will now take place at the Sunset Beach Pool! Monday and Wednesday at 11am and Thursday at 10:15am. Participation is optional, as the pool will remain open during the class. We believe this will be an active addition to the Captiva Club lifestyle.
•
The Captiva Club will have shortened hours for Thanksgiving Day allowing our staff to enjoy the holiday with their families. The Captiva Club will be open 6am-2pm on Thursday, November 27th.
The Lifestyles staff and I wish you and your families a very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!
Debbie’s hobbies include golf and tennis, and she is learning to play pickleball. She is an active grandmother of five grandchildren, two in Canada and three in Florida. One granddaughter is an Equestrian Dressage rider, so Debbie attends as many horse shows that she can. She is the happy owner of a Beagle named Cooper and would have many more dogs if she had the room. She has been an avid animal lover all her life.

The Benefits of Cycling There are so many benefits to cycling it is difficult to list them all in one article. I often have my clients use cycling as an alternative way to get in extra workouts during the week. It is easy on the joints, you choose your own pace, and it’s an effective cardio workout. Some of the many benefits include:
Katie Chubb Personal Trainer
personaltrainerkatie@ gmail.com
•
De-stress: It’s a great way to get outside and away from whatever is stressing you.
•
Builds Strength and Muscle Tone: By cycling frequently, muscle is built up over time.
•
Increases Muscle Function: It helps increase the function of weak or injured muscles.
•
Cycling can be used as part of a rehabilitation program for knee injuries.

•
Builds Stamina: You can cycle further and further each time.
•
Burns Calories: It burns around 500 calories per hour.

When it is your turn, you must first bring a 14th tile into the hand, before you can redeem a joker. plants will thrive in semi-shade as well as full sun. They tolerate wind and frost, and seed freely. Plantlets often develop on flower stems and root easily when they touch the ground. African iris is effective in mass planting under tree and around water features. The seed capsule is oval shaped and releases black seeds. African iris also thrives in water or boggy conditions. It is quite resistant to most pests and diseases. In certain parts of the world, infusions made from the inner part of the rhizome are taken orally in enemas to treat dysentery. Rhizomes are also used during childbirth and for hypertension. Ground rhizomes are ingredients in tonics for goats. In some African cultures, if you have been to a funeral or entered a house with a corpse, you must chew the rhizome and spit on the ground to take bad luck away.
