Overture is the first Gordon Music Learning Theorybased camp program in Houston.

Overture Summer Camp features three locations: University of St. Thomas in the Museum District, Baker-Ripley House in Southwest Houston, and SSQQDance Studio in the Heights. Our half-day schedule is perfect for pre-school children. Registration at camp.overturekids.com Children will handle hand drums, xylophones, recorders, and a piano while they enjoy individualized pattern instruction in rhythm and melody, live multicultural performances by professional musicians, singing, creative movement, crafts, outdoor lessons, and daily snack time. The low student-to-teacher ratio, 8:1, ensures that every camper will receive continuous care and attention.

All the music is live, all the pattern instruction is individualized for each child, and all the teaching is research-based. Overture teachers encourage healthy singing by modeling proper technique and selecting appropriate repertoire for pre-school cognitive and physical capabilities. We present many international styles of music including West African drumming, western European classical, and American folk. We make sure every child has quiet times in which to think musically and respond naturally. And we apply new science by modeling the breath-awarenessand intentional movement key to developing musical thought making music.
