Houston Preschoolers Burst Into Song at Overture Spring Break Music Camp

Houston, February 21, 2012 ­ The New Community Music School announces Overture Spring Break Music Camp, a beautiful music experience for children age 3­5. Overture is the first Gordon Music Learning Theory­based camp in Houston, TX.

Overture Spring Break Music Camp is held March 12 – 16 at The Houston Museum of African American Culture. Our 1­4pm half­day schedule is perfect for pre­school children. Registration is now open at camp.overturekids.com

Children will enjoy individualized pattern instruction in rhythm and melody, live African, Americana, and Classical performances by professional musicians, group improv on classroom instruments, singing, creative movement, crafts, and snack time. The low student­to­teacher ratio, 8:1, ensures that every camper will receive continuous care and attention.

All the music is live, all the pattern instruction is individualized for each child, and all the teaching is research­based. Overture teachers encourage healthy singing by modeling proper technique and selecting appropriate repertoire for pre­school cognitive and physical capabilities. We make sure every child has quiet times in which to think musically and respond naturally. And we apply current science by modeling the breath­ awareness and intentional movement which are vital for developing musical thought and making music.
