SEDI HALVORSON GENERAL MANAGER I hope everyone had a great month of April! While the weather at the club could have been better throughout the month, we still had some good golf days, as well as some really great member events. Turning the calendar to May, it appears we should finally get a nice stretch of 60+ degree temperatures, just in time to really start enjoying the course!

Membership As of the end of April, we have had 26 new members and families join our club! This is only the beginning of membership season, so please keep referring your friends and colleagues to your club. Our goal this year is to have 50 families join us this year, and that happens when our members refer the club to others. Thank you to those of you who have sent us referrals this year! As a reminder, our current membership information can always be found on the public side of the oxbowcc.com website, under the membership tab. Annual Meeting Thank you to all who attended the annual meeting on April 12th! We covered a lot of topics, and I hope those who were able to attend found it informative in regards to where we are going as a club. We also had our annual Board of Directors elections. Congratulations to Chris Champ, Mike Podolak, Scott Differding, and Roger Campbell on being chosen to serve. At the following Board meeting, Bill Short was elected President, Scott Differding Vice President, and Kevin Harrison Secretary/Treasurer. All officers serve a one year term. Ronald McDonald House A huge thank you to our members and their guests who were able to attend our first annual Black Tie Charity Gala, an effort to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Fargo/Moorhead. Due to the generosity of our members, we will be able to write a check to the RMHC in the amount of $48,907 in May to assist them with building their new 24 bedroom house, which will better enable them to serve families with critically-ill children, by providing those families with a “home-away-fromhome”. Oxbow is honored to be able to help in this effort! For more information, please visit https://rmhcfargo.org, and click on the “I’m Building RMHC” tab. You will see their amazing vision for the new house, as well as learn other ways you can help them reach their fundraising goal.

Even if you don’t have a team, we can usually find one for you.

Pool As I look out my window this afternoon, the pool deck is beginning to be poured. We are still planning to open the pool Memorial Day weekend. Currently we are still waiting for load restrictions to be lifted from Hwy 81, but we are getting everything done that we can to hit our opening day! It is going to be an unbelievable season out here at Oxbow. I hope all of you are as excited as I am! Even though we still have some projects going on, I believe this will be the best season yet, at YOUR club!

It was SO FUN to see the membership all dressed up and having a great time at your club! As many of you know, the Charity Gala is going to be an annual event at your club. If you’re interested in joining the Gala Committee, please let me know! The Committee will be in charge of choosing a new Fargo-Moorhead Charity to partner with next year, as well as provide leadership for all event details. FOOD & BEVERAGE UPDATE SCOTT MOTSCHENBACHER Executive chef Hello, Oxbow! This month, I am sharing my recipe for spicy pickles. Pickling is a preservation technique that arose out of necessity and gave our ancestors sustenance during long winters. These days, we don’t have that problem. If I want something pickled, I can pick it up on my weekly grocery run. Pickles can be sweet, sour, spicy or whatever other flavors you want to impress upon them. Pickling isn’t just for cucumbers. You can pickle just about anything from vegetables, to fruits, and even meats. I’m sure you have all seen that hideous pickled herring at your Midwest family holidays. This summer, I will be making pickles from locally grown cucumbers! Here is a basic pickle brine that you can experiment with: Ingredients: 2 cups apple cider vinegar 1 cup white sugar 1 tblsp whole peppercorns 1/4 cup kosher salt 1tblsp mustard seed 3 cloves of garlic For the spicy pickles: 2 tblsp smoked paprika 2 tblsp cayenne pepper 1 jalapeno sliced 2 tblsp crushed red pepper flake

Procedure: Combine all your ingredients in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and pour over your cucumbers. Place in your refrigerator. If they are pickle slices, let them sit overnight. If they are whole pickling cucumbers, let them sit for a week. The longer you let them sit in the brine, the more flavor they will pick up. Enjoy!

Jake hughes ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER April was filled with Member Events, Weddings, Retirement Parties, and The Annual Meeting! It is great to see everyone using your club to its full potential. Remember, members pay NO rental fees when hosting an event at your club. If you have a graduation, birthday, anniversary, etc. coming up, please reach out to Alison to reserve the space today. The space is filling up fast! We have already booked multiple Christmas parties this year. Our Summer Menu will be coming soon. Chef Scott has some delicious new options for you in the very near future. One thing Chef brought up at the annual meeting is that he wants to be as accommodating as possible. So, what does that mean? If someone has an allergy to peanuts, shellfish, or anything, he will make a dish to accommodate them so they can enjoy a great meal. Chef said, “If we have the product, we will make it for you.” Whether you want your entrée altered with/without an ingredient, or if you want a side of green beans and carrots instead of asparagus, let your server know. We will accommodate as much as we can. Just a reminder, league starts on May, 16th. Be sure and get signed up in the Golf Shop if you are interested. This year we have partnered with Summit Brewing Company, based in Minneapolis, MN. If you hit a Hole-In-One on a designated par 3 during league you will win Beer for a Year! Look forward to seeing you at your club!

David Wood superintendent First, I would like to thank everyone for their patience and using the mats on the driving range tee. Having the range tee open for over a month now would have damaged the tee well into the middle of this golf season. With the temperatures on the rise, we will be opening the tee this week. Golf cart traffic restriction to the concrete paths will continue until the turf is actively growing and mature. Repeated driving over the same areas will lead to the thinning and eventual demise of the grass. This is not as much of a concern in the fairways as much as the areas around greens and tees. Restrictions will be lifted as the grass starts to actively grow. On the course, we have begun to see many areas starting to emerge from dormancy as the soil warms. We are seeing some winter damage on the ryegrass from the rain/ice buildup this past December. Re-seeding has begun as the ground firms up to support the equipment. The irrigation systems have been pressurized on the north and south nine holes. It appears the winterization of the systems was successful and there are minimal issues to address. With the levee construction injunction lifted, the Diversion Authority will be hiring contractors to address the two infrastructure issues on phase two golf construction in May. Once these two projects are completed, the construction of the golf course should proceed unimpeded. The tentative schedule for levee construction will begin in late August. Landscapes Unlimited will begin on the west side of phase two and proceed to the east as the levee is finished. Our goal is to get everything seeded and built this year. See you on the course.
