SEDI HALVORSON GENERAL MANAGER

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

It’s hard to believe that we are in to July! It has been a very busy June around the club, and it is only going to keep getting more fun in the months ahead. We have had some weather challenges, but June can be tricky. July and August typically provide us with more consistently nice, sunny days. We have had some beautiful days as well, and I hope everyone is enjoying the time to get to the new pool and the course!

We have some great member events this month, with the Fourth of July Best Ball, and of course, Derby Weekend. Also, be sure to check out Couple’s golf opportunities, including half price bottles of wine night, and the most fun, Derby Couples. We have had great turnout for couple’s nights so far this year. And remember, social members are always welcome to enjoy as well. Please check out the member events calendar online at oxbowcc.com, as well as your newsletters and membership guide to know all that is happening here at your club, so that you are able to maximize your membership opportunities. Speaking of membership, we now have 49 new members and member families that have joined us in 2017! A huge thank you to all of our members for referring their friends, family, and colleagues to become members at your club. We are still accepting new members, so please keep passing on your referrals to me! Remember that referring members receive a $250 credit in the golf shop or food and beverage for new golf members, $100 for social members. Just a reminder that Kid’s Camp will start this month as well, providing great themed opportunities for kids from 4 – 10 to enjoy fun and learning at the club. Camps run Monday through Thursday. Swimming lessons, noodle camp, and Jr. Golf are also great ways to utilize your Oxbow membership, please refer to your membership guide and this newsletter for more information on all the young member activities available this month. Lastly, as a thank you to our members, we will be lowering the guest green fee rate for the month of July from $80 to $60, and still including golf cart. We realize the golf course is a bit different right now, as we continue to complete construction on the north nine holes, and we want to thank you for continuing to be members, as well as bringing out your friends and colleagues. As a reminder, the regular restriction on guests of once per month (local guest) still applies. It has been great seeing so much activity out here at the club during June, and we will continue to provide great ways for you to utilize your club throughout the summer and in to the fall. I am excited with many of the events that we have planned, both large and small, and I hope that you and your family are able to come out and have fun at Oxbow! I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July!

EVENT UPDATE Alison Molony Director of Member Engagement & EventS Ronald McDonald House—THANK YOU again to everyone who attended the Charity Gala in April. The $49,000 raised by Oxbow membership at this event is going directly toward Ronald McDonald’s new home, which is breaking ground on Tuesday, July 11th. After the positive feedback we received, we are pleased to say that we are going to make this an annual event, each year partnering with a new, local charity. Stay tuned! NOW Booking— Wouldn’t it be great to get out of the office every once in awhile and host a company meeting/retreat at a different location? Oxbow has a private meeting room that is perfect for this very occasion! Complete with flatscreen TV, panoramic views of the golf course, and food and beverage service, we are eager to host your next meeting. The best part? Oxbow members do not pay room rental for using this space. On select days, you could also consider adding rounds of golf to your meeting. Contact me for more details and availability!

Off-Season Event Calendar-Believe it or not, we are already looking ahead to the fall/winter season to schedule our off-season member events! (I know, I know...summer just started….) What events would you like to see at your club? Trivia nights? Dueling Pianos? Karaoke? Please feel free to share your ideas with me. Or better yet, if you’d REALLY like to get involved, I encourage you to join our Social Committee, which provides guidance and leadership for all things social at Oxbow. This committee is fun and has a low commitment level—perfect for our members who already have a full plate!

Food & BEVERAGE FOOD Beverage UPDATE Update SCOTT MOTSCHENBACHER Executive chef Hello, Oxbow! Wow, June has come and gone so fast. If there has been one thing I have learned out here, it is that time flies. I was able to be part of my first Battle at the Bow this year. That was a lot of fun, especially cooking a whole hog! I came in the night before to prep the piggy, and after a twenty two hour shift, we ate that piggy! The month of June stole away my Sous Chef too. He is on to greener pastures, though. He will most certainly be missed, as he was a big part in the opening of the new Clubhouse. In July, I have a new Sous Chef starting. He has an outstanding resume, as well as work ethic. I have worked with him in the past and he will bring some creativity to the club. With him coming on board, we are already starting to brainstorm new weekly special ideas. In the meantime, if you think of anything you would like to see, either stop me in the club for a quick chat or email me at chef@oxbowcc.com. I always appreciate feedback and new ideas. We are after all here for you!! Until next time, I’ll see you around the club!!

Chef Scott’s Bacon Cheeseburger Dip For this month’s recipe, here is the Bacon Cheeseburger Dip I made on North Dakota Today. I know it sounds simple, but it got rave reviews from Chris Berg and Kristi Larson. Plus, Alison won’t leave me alone about it. Ingredients: 8oz hamburger (preferably a leaner grind) 3oz diced bacon (I use apple wood) 2oz butter 2oz diced yellow onion 3oz beer (I use Budweiser) 4oz heavy whipping cream 4oz shredded cheddar cheese Pickles, diced tomatoes, ketchup and mustard for garnish

Procedure: In a non-stick skillet on medium-high heat, add your butter and bacon. When your bacon is about half way to crispy, add your yellow onion. Cook these down until there is just a little bit of color and brown hamburger. At this point, you will add your beer. Cook this down for about five minutes. Now you will add your heavy cream and bring to a boil. Once you have big rolling bubbles, then add your cheese. Be sure to constantly stir until the cheese is fully incorporated. At this point, you are ready for dippin! I garnish mine with ketchup, mustard, pickles and diced tomatoes. Enjoy!!

Jake hughes ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER We are hoping for a warmer July so more people enjoy our wonderful pool. Though we were unable to have our June pool party, we’re crossing our fingers for great weather on July 23rd so we can host our Derby Pool Party that day! When going to the pool, please check in your guest with the pool attendant. Guest fees are $7 per person and are welcome once a month. Member’s grandchildren may use the pool free of charge provided they are accompanied by the member grandparent. As an added perk, Oxbow will provide towels for use at the pool. I hope everyone has a great 4th of July! Just a reminder the Clubhouse and Pool will be closing at 5pm that day. 5

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY DAVID WOOD, SUPERINTENDENT With our summer staff all in place, we concentrating on fine-tuning some of the detail work around the course. Improving the turf density in the fairways is the top priority now. We have seen germination from our spring seeding, and these plants have matured into the three and four leaf stage, with additional plants still germinating. This recovery process will continue with more aerification and seeding until we have 100% coverage. Removal of weeds in the native areas around the golf course has begun also. This task can be labor intensive when the fescue grasses are at their mature height. By removing the plants, we are also disposing of the weed seed and not allowing that to be a problem in the future. In regards to the new course construction, Bruce Charlton was here for his first construction site visit of the year. Bruce was able to review the work that Landscapes Unlimited has completed on phase two and offered suggestions as to what he would like to see adjusted. Areas that he focused on are sub-grade elevations and golf feature work on future holes 6-8, 13 and 14. Landscapes Unlimited irrigation staff has arrived and started installing the 12” irrigation mainline under Riverbend Road from the south holes to supply the north nine. Layout of sprinklers around greens, tees and fairways will begin after topsoil is placed and grass lines are established. Our goal is still to have the majority of the phase two seeded with germination by September 15th. We will keep you updated as the process continues. Just a reminder to please repair ball marks and rake out sand bunkers. When taking a golf cart, please pair up with another player, which will prevent wear and tear on the golf course. See you on the course. David Wood
