Welcome to spring at Oxbow! For the second straight year, we opened the course on March 28th, which turned out to be a beautiful day. It was great to see so many members out enjoying their club. The course is in amazing shape for this time of year, and the forecast for early April looks to be nice and warm once we get through the first few days. Although winters are nice at the club, there is nothing like seeing activity on the course and range, as well as in the grill. The team here is getting ready for another great season. In the coming weeks, you will be seeing some new faces, as well as some that are back with us for the season. We are excited to have so many great applicants so far, as well as some wonderful teammates returning. All of us are excited for a great year here at the club. Membership season is in full-swing, and through March, we have 18 new members who have joined us already this year! Our new members are listed later in this newsletter. Please welcome them to the Oxbow family!

I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend our annual meeting on March 24th. There was a lot of great discussion on a variety of topics, and it was great to share our progress on the golf course and clubhouse projects. I would also like to welcome two new members to the Oxbow Country Club Board of Directors, Randy Schneibel and Kevin Harrison. Randy and his wife, Deb, have been members at Oxbow since 1994 and reside in the Oxbow Community. Kevin and his wife, Diane, have been members at Oxbow since 2012 and reside in South Fargo. Both of these individuals bring a great love for the club, and a desire to help Oxbow navigate through the fun and challenging times ahead. As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, the reason we have two new board members is because both Tami Henke’s and Chris Holland’s terms on the board have expired. Tami and Chris both served for six years on the board, and both provided vital leadership and insight during what turned out to be some very interesting times for our club. Thank you to both of them for all the time and energy they gave to their club! A PDF copy of the annual meeting will be available shortly on the oxbowcc.com website in the member’s only section. If you were unable to attend, you will find the full slide presentation on the main page after you enter your member credentials. If you need assistance logging on, please contact me at any time. Also available shortly on the member website will be our 2016 membership guide. This membership guide is a great tool for members to know events, activities, and dates for the upcoming season. I encourage all members to download a copy. The membership guide, along with your monthly newsletters, are the best way for the club to communicate details of the season. David Wood will have an update on the new course in his section of the newsletter, and the clubhouse project continues to move along. Check out the details of the moving timeline, course changes, and more by going to the website and viewing the annual meeting presentation. Here’s to another great season at YOUR club! Sedi 2

April is an exciting month at your club! The golf season is beginning, and we have some spectacular social events planned as well. Princess Ball Daddy-Daughter Dance - Saturday, April 2nd: I am so excited about this firsttime event! We have 54 people signed up for what I hope becomes another yearly Oxbow tradition. This event will feature Cinderella horse and carriage rides, a special appearance by Queen Elsa, dinner, and a dance. I have loved putting together the details for this event - it’s going to be a magical day at your club! Spring Ladies’ Night Out - Wednesday, April 13th.:Our Spring Ladies’ Night Out is one of my favorite events at Oxbow. This year, we will be raffling off some great items including a free cart rental/trail fee for 2016! Part of the proceeds from the raffle will go to benefit the Rape & Abuse Crisis Center. Another highlight of this event will be free wine samples from our new wine menu and a champagne bar! Please join us for a great night of fellowship with your favorite Oxbow ladies and help us support a great cause as well. More details for these events can be found on Page 7 and 8 of this newsletter. If you have any questions or would like to reserve your spot, please email me at alison@oxbowcc.com.

The golfing season has started and summer employment has begun. With new servers, range attendants, bartenders, pool attendants, and lifeguards working for the first time here at Oxbow, please introduce yourself to them. Please be patient with them in learning your names and account numbers. They will have to learn upwards of 300+ member’s names in a short period of time. We have a new training program to make sure we have the best qualified team members to take care of you. If you ever see something that needs to improve, contact me and we will address it as soon as we can. Let’s make it a great summer!

Place the turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, cayenne pepper, butter, celery, onion, and coriander into a large soup pot over a low heat. Stir frequently for 5 minutes. Pour crushed tomatoes into the mixture and let simmer for 15 minutes. Pour 7 cups chicken stock and the kidney beans into the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, and then reduce the heat to simmer. Let soup simmer for ten minutes, add lemon juice, and serve.

Opening the golf course March 28th this year is one of the earliest openings that we have on record; it is also the same date as the 2015 opening. The early mild weather and lack of snow are indicating an extended golf season. The golf course over-wintered well and looks great. With the early opening, it is important that we follow some golf course etiquette rules to help the turf out before a busy season. Please replace all your divots on par 3 tee boxes and in fairways. Place the sod in the divot and press down with your foot. The sod piece will not dry out if replaced immediately. Please keep your golf carts on the cart paths to prevent thinning of the grass. As always fix all ball marks and rake sand bunkers. Our staffing levels are low this time of the year, so the frequency of raking bunkers and other maintenance tasks are not like the summer months. Landscapes Unlimited will begin to start mobilizing staff and equipment the first week of April to resume the growin process for the south nine construction. Their main focus this spring will be removing all the green/tee covers and repairing any damage to these surfaces. Starting and operating the irrigation system will also be a high priority with the amount of dormant seeded areas that will require immediate irrigation. We welcome them back so they can begin to transform the holes under construction into a playable golf course. See you on the course. David Wood

April is here and so is the golf season! We had a great day of weather for opening day. Many came out to enjoy and play their first round of the season at Oxbow Country Club. This is a great time to remind everyone to sign up for a handicap if you don’t have one already. Having a handicap will allow you to track your progress and allow you to play in many great events! Rule Changes for 2016: There are a couple important rule changes to note for the upcoming season. Starting in 2016, the USGA has banned the use of an anchored stroke - see Rule 14-1b. This was primarily used while putting. It’s important to note that you are still allowed to use long putters as long as you do not anchor the club in anyway. Another important rule for 2016 relates to posting scores. Players are not allowed to post a score in which they played alone. See Rule 5-1e for more details. The golf shop is taking shape with new merchandise for 2016. Stop by and grab your gear for the season. With the latest from Nike, FJ, Titleist and more, there is sure to be something for everyone. Also, be sure to sign up for this year’s Red River Club Membership. This is a great offer with many benefits! Signing up for RRC costs $100 and includes the following: 

Round of golf w/cart

$25 instant pro shop credit

30% off clothing

25% off equipment (clubs, balls, shoes, etc.)

If you haven’t done so already, now is the time to order your Titleist Pro V1 and ProV1X. As a special thank you for your loyalty, Titleist is offering a buy 3 dozen get 1 dozen free promotion. That’s not all; you can even get them personalized! This offer only runs through April 17, so be sure to get your order in today. Contact the golf shop to place your order.
