How long will we be playing our current golf course? We will play our current golf course in its current configuration through the 2015 season. Will we always have an 18-hole golf course? Yes; this has been an important goal throughout the project. Renovation work on current holes 10-16 will begin in 2016 once our nine new holes are ready for play. At that time, we will play new holes 1-9, current 17, 16, and 7. There will be some work occurring on current holes 7 and 17, but we will work hard to ensure we are still able to play these holes in some form. We have included a map on the back page that will help you visualize this. It is important to note though, as with any construction project of this size, there will be a lot of activity happening on the course and weather plays a major factor in our timeline. Will my dues increase or will there be an assessment because of this project? There is no plan for dues to increase or an assessment to be levied due to this project. Although the club has not reached a formal agreement with the Diversion Authority (DA), the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Oxbow and the DA explains the club will receive replacement cost for the golf course, clubhouse, pool, and related amenities. Any additional capital spent on the project would come to a vote of the membership.
Will the new clubhouse have a bigger pool? Fitness center? Tennis courts? Large event space? CONTROLLER Design of the new clubhouse will begin once we reach an agreement with ACCOUNTING@OXBOWCC.COM; EXT. 10 the DA. The replacement cost dollars provided for clubhouse will be based off of our current square footage with similar fixtures plus an increase to meet code requirements. The above will all be considerations JOHN DAHL, PGA and feedback from our membership will be very important in determinHEAD GOLF PRO ing where and how we utilize those dollars. It will also be important to JDGOLF@OXBOWCC.COM consider the market, industry trends, future operating costs, and our return on investment.

ALISON MOLONY Director of Member Engagement & Events Lately, it seems that you can’t turn on the TV or open the newspaper without seeing images of sharpened #2 pencils and fresh, new backpacks. INSTRUCTIONS Preheat a grill to medium-high heat. For the lemon cream: Beat the cream, sugar, vanilla and lemon zest in a mixing bowl until soft peaks form. Add the sour cream and then hand whisk until slightly more thickened. Place in a 1-gallon resealable bag, chill and set aside. This can be made ahead of time and kept well chilled until ready to use. For the shortcake and glaze: Slide 4 strawberries onto a metal skewer. Mix together the sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl. Grill the cake slices using tongs until grill marks appear, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Follow by grilling the strawberries, flipping once, until grill marks appear, about 3 minutes. Transfer the strawberries to a cutting board and slice in half. Coat the strawberries in the glaze or brush on. Build the sandwiches by putting lemon cream on one side of the cake, followed by 4 strawberry halves. Add another layer of lemon cream and top with the remaining cake slice
As the school year approaches, many of the servers are returning to the classroom. I want to take this opportunity to thank them all for their hard work this summer. We had a busy calendar this year and it wouldn't have been possible without each and every one of them. I hope to see them all back next year! Thank you to all those that came out and made Derby weekend one of the best weekends of the summer! Don’t miss out on the last pool party of the summer. There is rumor of a dunk tank… See you at your club, Brittany
David Wood Superintendent Golf Course Construction Update: We have seen many positive steps, from initial construction starting to the design work nearly finished. Bruce Charlton and the Robert Trent Jones staff have completed the north side grade plan which includes golf holes from present #7/#16 through existing golf hole #10. We have been reviewing this and offering our thoughts to Bruce. The Army Corp of Engineers has reviewed the design and earth-moving requests on the south holes and has found no critical issues with the proposed work. Rough grading on the south holes is well underway; the east side grade work is about finished and work is progressing on the west portion of the new property. The first milestone of levee work has been completed and is being reviewed by the engineers. Final golf course construction bid documents will be finished this month and offered to golf contractors the third week of August. We expect the golf course contractor to begin work on the final grading by mid-September. As the summer months pass I want to thank my staff for all the effort they have put towards maintaining the golf course this summer. We started the year with ten new staff members in the Grounds Department. The new staff ranged in age from 16 to 70 and has been up to the challenge of learning a new profession, operating unique mowers, and having to tolerate some weather conditions that were less than ideal. I write this because unfortunately, this week we begin to lose staff to college and high school sports. See you on the course. David Wood

JOHN DAHL HEAD GOLF PRO
I wish every July was like this one! It was certainly a busy month, but also a lot of fun! To start the month off, we had junior golfers from all over the Tri-State area competing in two golf tournaments. The first was the FM Junior Tour, followed by the Minnesota Junior PGA. There were some very good golfers that came out and they were certainly tested on our wonderful course.
The 4th of July tournament was great, albeit a bit windy! We had a good group of members out for that tournament and had two teams tie for first in the Net Division: Ralph and Amy Botnen, along with Ron and Carol Morlock. Shooting 2 under, Jeff Kruger and Jack Easton took first in the Gross Division.
Along with the busy month of outside events, we put together a Derby weekend that we will never forget. The tournament was a full field of 72 teams. We welcomed two new members by declaring them our 2014 Derby Champions! Bob Bye and Bruce Saunders won this year’s Derby on the fourth attempt of playing hole 18 in a playoff against Kane Hanson and Travis Braunagel. Great golf was played by both these teams and provided for an exciting finish to such a great day. Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy Derby weekend!
We have some great tournaments coming up in August as well! The annual Parent-Child Tournament will take place on Sunday, August 17th and we will name our Club Champion on Sunday, August 24th. Hope to see everyone out on your golf course!
Happy Golfing everyone! John Dahl ***Reminder – Please remember to fix your ball marks and fill in divots on your golf course!
