FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER July always seems to go way too fast here at Oxbow. I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy some time by the pool and on the golf course, which is in magnificent condition! As we turn to August, please read through your newsletter this month, as we have so much going on throughout the month for you. I know many of our members begin thinking about back to school this time of year, but we still have lots of fun left yet this summer for all members! Please take time to review the calendar in the newsletter, as well as the event flyers all throughout this month’s newsletter, so that you are able to fully enjoy all that we have to offer. Additionally, please remember to check out upcoming events online on the website, as well as the Oxbow mobile app. Rush Week We have had a great year for membership, and so far this year we have welcomed 51 new member families to Oxbow. I want to thank every member who has referred their friends and colleagues to the club. We also have Rush Week coming up shortly, which will give referred members an opportunity to experience some of the fun that we have here at Oxbow. If you have any questions, please contact Aja or me at any time. This was a great success last year, when we were able to have 25 member families join us after participating in Rush Week, so please pass along to all of your colleagues and friends who may be interested in joining Oxbow. End of Summer Block Party I don’t want to think about it, but we are having our first (hopefully annual) end of summer party at the end of August. Aja has planned an amazing weekend for both adults and kids, including a driving range concert featuring Tripwire, and some really fun youth activities the following day. Details are in the following pages of the newsletter.

MANAGER'S MESSAGE Sedi Halvorson General Manager sedi@oxbowcc.com

Club Finance We are halfway through 2022 already, and so I wanted to update everyone on where the club stands financially. Operationally through the first half of the year, we have broken even, with a small deficit of $1,800. To put this into context, last year at this time, we had an operating deficit of $128,000.We have come a long way in the past year, despite the ever-increasing costs the club is facing. Our goal is to ensure that the club funds itself operationally, so that all of the capital income we take in (Capital Dues, Initiation Fees, Membership Certificate Sales, Stag, etc…) is able to be used for repair and replace of assets, as well as continuing to add more and better amenities for you. That includes adding two new TrackMan simulators this winter in the ballroom, as well as revamping the arcade with brand new games. It also includes things like replacing course maintenance equipment on schedule, furniture and fixtures in the clubhouse and pool, etc… The ability of our members to recruit new members to the Club is what drives our ability to provide these things for you. Rush week is a great time for all members to invite someone they know to experience Oxbow. If anyone ever has any questions on club finance, please reach out anytime.

MANAGER'S MESSAGE Sedi Halvorson General Manager sedi@oxbowcc.com

Your Oxbow Team This is the time of year where we say goodbye to many of our teammates for the season, as many go back to school, whether it be attending high school or college, or teaching. I want to thank all of our teammates for doing such a tremendous job this summer. For those that have departed for the year, we wish them much success, and hope to see many again next summer. Guest Policy Just a reminder to everyone that local guests (F/M area) are welcome once per calendar month as a guest of a member. It does not matter which member brings out the guest. If a non-member has joined us at the pool or on the course as a guest, that is their one time per month. Out of Bounds on Holes #2 and #13 I know this is a controversial subject for many, so I wanted to touch on it for all of our members. The decision to reimplement out of bounds on these holes was done purely for safety reasons. The layout of those holes is a flaw in the design of the course. Please know we are working on a few different ideas on how to realign these holes so that we can remove the on-course out of bounds in the future. It is not meant to be a permanent solution, but at this point, we had to do something for the safety of our members and our grounds crew associates working out on the course. We will update the membership as we go through this process. There is still tons of summer left, I hope to see you enjoying your club! -Sedi

POOL NEWS Derek Beers Head lifeguard Derek@oxbowcc.com

Hello everyone, we have some fun events coming up here in August. First off we will have music at the pool from 7pm to 10pm on the 5th and 19th but at 8pm anyone under the age of 21 will be asked to leave because it becomes adult swim at that time. We also will not be having adult swims on the 12th and 26th. A reminder for future plans for next month: the last day the pool will be open is September 5th and on the 6th it is a dog swim day. With everyone starting school here soon, we become very short staffed so there are a couple changes that will need to be implemented. The first being there may be times we have the pool open with no lifeguard on duty so going forth anyone under the age of 12 needs to have someone here at the pool with them over the age of 16. I would also encourage you to maybe bring your own towel as we may not have anyone to restock them for you, however we will do our best to keep towels available. One last thing is if you believe you have left or lost anything in the pool there will be a lost and found table in the pool house. Please come in and look to see if you have left anything. Thanks for the great pool season so far and be sure to check out the pool rules on the next page.

ACCOUNTANT'S AVENUE Stacey Fett Controller accounting@oxbowcc.com

Happy August! I know I may sound like a broken record each month, but these are the questions we get over and over again each month so please take the time to read these FAQs. How do I see my most recent charges? To keep an eye on your account, you can go to the app and click on current statement. This will take you to your account. On the top left, there is a ‘recent’ tab, this will show you all of your recent charges. If there are any discrepancies, please let me know and we can get it fixed. If you do not have the app or do not know how to run it, please let me know, I can look up your recent spending or can help you get acquainted with the app. I made a payment, why hasn't my statement balance in the app changed? Statements are only processed once a month (around the 5th of the month). So the statement balance you see when you check your account on the app, will not change for the month even after you have made a payment. If you make a payment on your account after the 30th, it willl not be shown on your next statement. However you can go to your recent charges (see question above) to see that your payment has been processed. How can I pay my bill? There are several payment options. Our preferred method is autopay, please contact me for an ACH or Credit Card authorization form. Please note, there is a 3% fee to use your credit card. Auto-pay is completed on the 10th of the month. If the 10th falls on a weekend, I will process auto-pay on the next business day. You can also make payments on the app/website, send a check to the club, or you can drop off payment in my mailbox, which can be found in the first room down the administration office hallway. Am I able to get an itemized copy of my charges each time I dine at the restaurant? Yes, you can get a copy of your check each time you come in and eat. This is a great way for you to make sure you are getting charged correctly for everything you ordered (especially if you are splitting apps/dinner with friends). Just ask your server and they will be happy to help you with this. -Stacey

CHEF'S CORNER Scott Motschenbacher Executive Chef chef@oxbowcc.com

Hello Oxbow! I’m sure you have all noticed like I have how quick our summers are. It seems like the pool was just opened and now we’re not far from it closing again. Speaking of that, the day after the pool closes, we will be hosting a Bon Voyage to summer wine dinner. We plan to have this dinner in the pool house. It will be a bit of an homage to our pool menu. I am pretty excited about this one! We will be hosting wine dinners monthly from here on! This is great news to me. Considering how many chicken strips I have been cooking. Finally get to flex some of those culinary muscles!! Speaking of culinary muscles…. Oxbow will have another feather in it’s cap this month. I have hired the lead sushi chef from Crave. He will be starting with us mid-August. Once he is trained in on everything else, I want him to start doing a weekly sushi special. With his background we are going to have one of the most well-rounded kitchens ever! I am also interviewing potential sous chef candidates. I hope to tell you more about that very soon! For this month’s recipe I want to share the mustard sauce that will be gracing our new Lunch Box menu. This sauce will be on the new Cuban sandwich as well as a couple of other places.

MUSTARD SAUCE Ingredients: 1 egg yolk

1 sprig fresh thyme

¼ cup white vinegar

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

¼ cup lemon juice

1 garlic clove

¼ cup Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon salt and pepper

2 sprigs fresh parsley

1 cup vegetable oil

Procedure: In a food processor add all ingredients except your vegetable oil. Blend until all is incorporated. While continuing to blend slowly drizzle in the vegetable oil. If it seems a bit thick add a little bit of water to thin it out. Congratulations! You have just made your first aioli! If you don’t know what the word aioli means, it’s fancy mayo. This is how us chefs make ourselves sound fancier than we really are. This spread is great on sandwiches or even dipping. You can use this in place of mayo for other recipes as well. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Enjoy!

GOLF SHOP UPDATE Corey Herlickson Head Golf Professional corey@oxbowcc.com

After a long run of not having any outside events, we want to make you aware of the upcoming outside events: NDGA Best Ball Hoeven for Senate Kindred Girls Invite S&L Computers Pro-Am ND Ethanol Producers

August 6-7 August 15 August 23 August 24 August 29

Important Info: We have some more $60 Accompanied Guest rate Monday’s coming in August. Those dates are August 1st and August 8th. The driving range will be closing early on August 26th for the concert we will be hosting on the driving range. The range will be closing at 5:00 PM that day. We just want to remind you all that we have some restricted days of play: Wednesday from 4:40 PM to 7:00 PM the 1st tee is closed for Ladies Night. We have seen an increase in play on this evening and we want to make sure they have plenty of room to play at their pace and not feel pressured. Only women are allowed to tee off during these restricted times. The practice facility is open to women, men and juniors all day on Wednesdays. Thursday is Men’s Day starting at 11:00 AM. Only men 18 years and older that have graduated from high school may tee off starting at 11:00 AM. The practice facility is open to women, men and juniors all day on Thursdays. Family golf is on Sundays. We have tee times blocked off from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM for families with children that are still in secondary school or younger. The tee times are set 15 minutes apart which allows families to comfortably play at a pace that is slower than normal. If you want to book a tee time during family golf, please call the golf shop. We also ask that you cancel those times if you are not going to use it since we only have four tee times during family golf and they are highly sought after.

We understand the club continues to grow as a rapid rate and many of the newer members are unaware of the club policies right away so we wanted to help inform you of these restrictions. You can always view the Golf Guide on our Weekly Golf Shop Update. This guide has almost all of the policies and procedures for golf.

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY David Wood Superintendent david@oxbowcc.com

The recent storm that dropped 3 inches of rain on Oxbow in 90 minutes during the Derby tournament is an event that no one ever wants to happen to their golf course from a maintenance perspective. Seeing how the course handled that volume of water was impressive. It took several hours for the collection basins to drain on several holes, we had minimal issues on the rest of the course. Having a well-designed drainage system and proper grading allowed golf carts to be on the course in less than 24 hours. This past month we installed the riprap along the pond to stabilize the edge from the bridge to #9 tee. Normally this type of project would be done in the winter but with the rate of erosion along the bank and the proximity of the cart path we decided to do the work in-season. There are several other pond edges that we will be protecting in the future. The transition from green to collar in some areas has settled since the greens were constructed. We have started to topdress sand into these areas to provide a smoother surface that will provide a better quality of cut. Our goal is for the golfer to have the ability to chip or putt if they are off the green. This will be an ongoing process for the next several years. See you on the course.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES UPDATE Alee Searles Youth Activities Coordinator

Just like that, we are on our last month of the summer! I don’t know about anyone else, but this summer has flown by way too fast for my liking. July truly was a good one! I really enjoyed the pool party and all the inflatables! I could tell a lot of you did as well! One of the best things was being dunked in the dunk tank. School is already right around the corner which means we are coming up on the last couple of weeks of crafts and STEM activities in the pool house. Our last day for activities in the pool house before I go back to college will be Friday, August 19th. Even though our summer is coming to an end, we still have a lot of fun activities left in August. August Theme Weeks Jungle Week: August 1st – August 5th Tiki Week: August 8th – August 12th Bugs, Insects, and Anything Creepy Crawly: August 15th – August 19th Important Dates Friday, August 5th: National Water Balloon Day – Water Balloon Fight! Sunday, August 7th: Tiki Pool Party! Saturday, August 27th: Pool Party/Foam Party As always, it has been a joy being back at Oxbow for the summer getting to work with all the kids and parents. I know I sure had a lot of fun this summer and I hope all of you did as well! You’ll see me back around the country club throughout the school year doing Family Bingo, Kids Nights, and other random events as well!
