BOARD OF DIRECTORS

JOEL LIVINGOOD, GENERAL MANAGER

CHRIS HOLLAND - PRESIDENT

A Fun, Welcoming, and Memorable Club

DAVE CAMPBELL - VICE PRESIDENT TAMI HENKE - SECRETARY

After one of the busiest months at the club that I can remember, I took some time over the last few days to reflect on what we have accomCHRIS CHAMP BRITTON MATTSON plished and where we are going. I am inspired by JEFF KRUGER JOE TALLEY the excitement from our membership and dedication of our staff. Together we have recruited 36 new members, which has led to a 12 member net gain; the largest in recent history. Despite some heavy rains, we are fortunate to have a golf course that is in prisMANAGEMENT STAFF tine condition; members of any club in the country would be proud to play on the fairways and greens at Oxbow. For the first time since its inJOEL LIVINGOOD ception four years ago, the Battle at the Bow was full with a waiting list of GENERAL MANAGER / COO more than 10 teams. In addition, participation in our kid’s night, annual JOEL@OXBOWCC.COM; EXT. 29 golf events, league, ladies’ night, couple’s golf, and men’s day is up from 2013. JAY BARTLEY

At our board meeting last month, I was asked why I thought participation in all of these events was up and membership was growing. I think there are many reasons, but a recent email from one of our newest members explains it best. After the Battle at the Bow he said: “The entire weekend was a blast in every aspect. It was a great way to meet other members. Everyone welcomed me and was excited that I was a new member, which made me feel even better about joining. My brother, who is a member at Mesa Country Club, kept raving about the condition of the course and how nice everyone was that he talked to. He thought it would be lots of fun to be a member.”

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER BRITTANY@OXBOWCC.COM; EXT. 11

This is one of many emails like it that I have had the pleasure of receiving this year and although we are constantly re-evaluating how we do things and searching for new ways to improve the experience for you, your family, and guests, I think it is important to stop, slow down, and recognize TOM KEPPEL the success we have been having. You all are just as much a part of that CONTROLLER success as our team behind the scenes. You all are the heart of the fun, ACCOUNTING@OXBOWCC.COM; EXT. 10 welcoming, and memorable atmosphere described above and I want to say thank you. Thank you for supporting your club, our staff, and our mission. Every club has the opportunity to put on terrific events, but what JOHN DAHL, PGA makes a club a special place, a home away from home, is its membership. HEAD GOLF PRO And we have one of the best. David Wood Superintendent The maintenance equipment purchased with the 2013 stag dollars included two fairway mowers, a trim mower, and a greens mower. The fairway mowers have provided an exceptional cut of the grass and have had no maintenance issues up to now. The staff has indicated that the mowers are more comfortable and easier to operate. Our maintenance mechanic, Dewayne Clark, has been pleased with the minimal day-to-day needs for these units. The trim mower is a rotary bladed machine that mows around greens and sand bunkers. Our previous trim mower had reel blades that required more daily adjusting and provided an inferior cut when the grass was wet. This new trim mower is more efficient in the summer and will also save us repair dollars during the winter months. Lastly, the greens mower we purchased has been used sparingly. We are walk mowing during the summer, so Mondays are the only day we use this machine. As of now, the machine has been exceptional. This mower will be used more later in the summer when staff returns to school. Thank you for the much needed mowing equipment. Bruce Charlton and the Robert Trent Jones staff have submitted several cross section drawings of the golf course and its relationship with the levee to the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE). The ACOE is reviewing the irrigation and drainage placement in relation to the levee trapezoid. Bruce has started putting together construction bid documents for our review before the project is put out to bid. We will keep you posted as this project progresses. On the course, our staff is keeping busy with managing the wet soil conditions and growth of the grass. Keeping the rough mowed down is requiring staff to work additional hours during the week and weekends. This will slow down as the rain fall amounts usually are less in July and August. I am starting to see bug repellant damage on tees and fairways. Please apply these products when you are in the parking lot or on cart paths. We have sprayed the golf course and city for mosquitoes three times and will continue to spray as needed.

See you on the course. David Wood

JOHN DAHL HEAD GOLF PRO What a great June we had! Once junior golf started on the first week of June, it has been non-stop for us in the golf shop. We kicked off June with a great showing of junior golfers--over 40 kids participated in the week’s activities! Each week, Monday through Wednesday, we also have Junior League in the morning which brings a great group of kids to compete. Following junior golf camp, we hosted the 1st Annual Ladies’ Invitational. The Ladies’ Invitational was very successful! We had 32 golfers and everyone had a great time! The Battle at the Bow was a full field of a 120 golfers! The rain didn’t scare the golfers away during the shoot-out round and we crowned Rob Johnson and Zach Bertschi as our 2014 champions! Bill Short and Shawn Sperle were runners-up. In July, we have no shortage of great events! This week, we have the 4 th of July Best Ball. Enjoy a fun tournament Friday morning before you head out of town for the weekend. Next week, we will have Ladies’ Stagette on Wednesday, July 9th. The Derby will follow on July 19th. The Derby field is full but call the golf shop to get your name on the waiting list. The Derby is a fun tournament for all to play and watch! Looking ahead to August, we have our Oxbow Best Ball on August 2nd-3rd. This tournament is open to the public. Feel free to bring out friends to come enjoy your course. This two-day event always turns into a fun weekend! Happy Golfing everyone! John Dahl
