We have some great events planned this month including the Cross Country Scramble and of course, Derby Weekend. Also, be sure to check out our great Ladies’ Golf and Couples’ Golf opportunities throughout the month. Mark your calendar for our FIRST Ladies’ Bus Trip, scheduled for July 31st and August 1st in the Twin Cities. Please check out the member events calendar online at oxbowcc.com or on Clubster so that you are able to maximize your membership opportunities. Speaking of membership, we now have 59 new members that have joined us in 2016! We are on track to have a net gain of around 40 members in 2016! Thank you for referring your friends, family, and colleagues to become members at your club. We are still accepting new members, so please keep passing on your referrals to me! There is a board outside of the Pro Shop with pictures of many of our new members, so please check that out when you are in the club and welcome them to our family! The new clubhouse is around 65% complete, and patios and landscaping will begin within the next couple of weeks. The inside finish work is beginning to come together, and the kitchen should be completed in the next month. I ask that anyone who would like to check out the progress contact me directly for a tour. There is a lot of construction going on, and we want to make sure everyone is safe and allows the workers to continue to make progress. The new nine holes are really coming together. The golf course architect, as well as a representative from the USGA, are coming to evaluate our progress during the last week of July. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that we do not play on the course before it is ready, and to get opinions from the experts in this area. We are overall very pleased with what we have seen over the past month. It has been great seeing so much activity out here at the club and we will continue to provide great ways for you to utilize your club throughout the summer and in to the fall. I am excited about many of the events that we have planned, both large and small, and I hope that you and your family are able to come out and have fun at Oxbow! See you at your club soon! Sedi

4. Bring water to a boil in steamer and reduce heat to medium; the water should still be boiling. Place steam-plate on a small wire rack in the middle of the steamer. Place buns on steam-plate leaving 1 to 2 inches between. At least 2 inches space should be left between steam-plate and the steamer. Cover steamer with lid. Steam buns over boiling water for 15 minutes.
4
Tbsp
White Sugar
2
Tbsp
Vegetable Oil
5. REMOVE LID BEFORE you turn off heat, or else water will drip back onto bun surface and produce yellowish "blisters" on bun surfaces. Continue steaming batches of buns until all are cooked.

Baking Powder
These make a nice addition to a meal or a fun snack! DIRECTIONS 1. Mix together yeast, 2 teaspoons sugar, 1/2 cup flour, and 1/2 cup warm water. Let sit for 30 minutes. 2. Mix in 1 cup warm water, 3 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 4 tablespoons sugar, and vegetable oil. Knead until dough is smooth and elastic. Roll over in a greased bowl and let stand until triple in size, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. 3. Press down dough and spread on a floured surface. Sprinkle baking powder evenly on dough and knead for 5 minutes. Divide dough equally into 2 parts, then divide each half into 24 parts. Form each part into a ball. Put each ball on wax paper, cover, and let stand until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
During Battle at the Bow, we unveiled some new specialty cocktails. Here is the recipe for my favorite of the new drinks: The Perfect Gin & Tonic! The Perfect Gin & Tonic 1.5oz
Bombay Sapphire East
4oz
Tonic Water

Fresh Squeezed Lime Wedge

Fresh Squeezed Lemon Wedge
The Perfect Gin & Tonic is flawless for those warm sunny days. It is crafted with Bombay Sapphire East Gin. Bombay Sapphire East is a lighter style gin - the entry features soft flavors and is infused with lemongrass & black peppercorns. Flavors in this gin are fairly light and subtle; there’s nothing overly assertive or aggressive in the mix. This is great cocktail for someone who has just started to drink gin. Be sure to try one the next time you are out at your club! You won’t be disappointed.

June blew in and blew out! We had a great month of golf in spite of the wind! 55 junior golfers participated in Junior Golf Camp this year. Thank you to our camp volunteers: Randy Schneibel, Lexi Piatz, Katie Wold, and coaches and golfers from the Moorhead High School golf team. Our Junior Golf program continues through August 16th with Junior Golf League on Monday and Tuesday mornings starting 8:30 AM. Battle at the Bow was a huge success despite a rain delay on Saturday of the tournament. Taylor Fontaine and Joe Svir won the shootout and became the 6th Annual Battle At The Bow Champions. Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone for participating!
Sunday, July 10th Open to all members 3 PM shotgun start for 9 holes 4-person scramble $25/Person For this unique tournament, we have taken the liberty of re-designing the golf course! Expect a completely different layout than you are used to and experience Oxbow like you never have before!
The Derby is on July 23rd and is always so much fun. Even if you aren’t playing in the tournament, join us to watch the shootout and listen to live music following the event. The Oxbow Best Ball will be August 6th and 7th. It is an open tournament, so tell your friends and family to sign up and plan to play. Couples’ Golf is held every Friday. This is a fun way to meet new friends and enjoy golf in a social atmosphere. Please call the Pro Shop to register. Come see what’s new in the Pro Shop and remember we can order anything you need - even Derby team outfits!

Whether you’re new to golf, want to hone in on skills, or be competitive, the Oxbow Ladies’ Golf Program has something for everyone. No matter your interest or skill level, there are many opportunities for fun at Oxbow. Have you heard about the Ringer Board? “Ringer” is a name used for recording a player’s best 18-hole score during the season. Thank you to our generous sponsor, Heidi Holland and Beans Coffee Bar, for providing “Beans Bucks” as fun incentive to improve your golf score throughout the season! We already have 16 ladies participating and there is still time to sign up. Anyone can play and no handicap is required.
How it works:
Each participating player will post their first score of the season for each hole on the Ringer Board in the Ladies locker room. When you improve on the score for any hole in subsequent play, update the board with the new score for that hole using the labels provided. Earn Beans Bucks, awarded weekly to those who post improvements.
Wednesday Ladies ‘ Night continues this month with a ½ hour John Dahl skill clinic at 5:30pm with reserved tee times starting at 6:00pm for a 9-hole game. Best described by Tessa Simon, “The women’s golf clinic has really helped me improve my golf game. It’s a laid-back environment to learn more about golf with your friends!” Join us for the entire evening, or just part of it. A specialty cocktail will be offered each week.
Whether you do or don’t golf – plan to join Alison on a Ladies’ Bus Trip to Mystic Lake on Sunday, July 31 – Monday, August 1! Relax and enjoy a one night stay at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. Play one or two rounds of golf, or take time for yourself at the spa, the casino, and shopping at the Mall of America. Limited to 20 people, there are only 10 spots left! Contact Alison for more details and to sign up: alison@oxbowcc.com, 701.588.4666.
Ask a friend to play the Lady Oxbow Challenge on Saturday, August 13th! This is a 2-person team competition that can be member-member or member-guest. Enjoy a friendly day of competition for only $150/team. Price includes golf, cart, all meals, a Beans Coffee Bar golf towel, and prizing. Teams will be grouped to play two 9-hole matches. The winner of each group will then advance to a shootout. If you don’t have a teammate, we’ll help you find one. Contact the Pro Shop to sign up.
Congratulations to the following Oxbow Ladies for placing in the FM All City 2-Day Golf Tournament! Mary Johnson, Championship Flight - 3rd place Wendy Frappier, First Flight winner Julia Wold, Second Flight winner Carol Morlock, Senior Second Flight, 5th place Ladies’ Night on June 29th 7
As we move into the prime golf season, there are several things that I would like to remind golfers about golf cart usage. This year has been drier than normal and we are seeing the turf going into dormancy in the non-irrigated areas. Grass going into dormancy is a survival mechanism that is necessary for periods of low rainfall. The problem with dormancy on a golf course is that the plants are vulnerable to wear-damage. Most of this comes from repeat cart traffic over the same high traffic areas (green, tee and bunker locations). So please keep your golf cart on the paths provided, DO NOT pull two tires off onto the grass or drive up onto the tee banks. This includes the driving range tees; there is an asphalt parking spot on the south edge of the tee to park carts. I have received several questions about this year’s greens aerification and why it was done the way it was. Holes #1-6 and 18 were core aerated, with the turf plug being removed and filled with sand. This method is removing unwanted root zone soils and replacing with sand to provide improved drainage and rooting. These greens will be in use through the summer of 2018, this method is used to help the grass through the summer stress periods. Holes #7-17 were aerated with a smaller solid tine and no soils were removed. These greens will be turned over to Landscapes Unlimited in September to begin phase two of construction. The disruption in play, plus labor and sand costs was not worth the investment with the short amount of the time these greens need to be maintained before reconstruction begins. The nine holes on the new golf course are growing in nicely. Landscapes Unlimited is focusing on the interior holes and pushing the grass to fill in all the thin areas. Mowing all the turf down to heights that will promote lateral growth and spraying out the weeds is promoting healthy grass coverage. Over 275 trees have been planted around the site as per the architects recommendation and drip irrigation to assist in their establishment. There is still a lot of work to be done before these holes are ready to play. Landscape Unlimited’s focus is on growing grass and detail work will follow as the season progresses. See you on the course. David Wood
