From the General Manager It’s hard to believe that we are in to July! June was a great month here at Oxbow, with lots of member activity on the course and pool!It has been probably one of the hottest and driest Junes that I can remember. It has been fantastic seeing so much member usage of the course and pool areas. We have tons of great member events coming up, starting with our Pool Party for adults on July 2nd, our annual Fourth of July celebration, Derby Weekend, Kids Camps, Music on the patio, and so much more! I am particularly excited for our fourth annual Fourth of July celebration here at the club. All the activities and events, live music, and of course Memory Fireworks is coming back to do the best show in the area! Please make sure to check out all of the events happening Sunday, including those that require an RSVP. Speaking of membership, we now have 58 new members and member families that have joined us in 2021!A huge thank you to all of our members for referring their friends, family, and colleagues to become members at your club. We are still accepting new members, and it is certainly not too late to enjoy so much of the upcoming season at Oxbow. Please keep passing on your referrals to Aja and me! And staring July 1st, remember that referring members receive a $500 credit in the golf shop or food and beverage for new golf members, $100 for social members. 4
MANAGER'S MESSAGE Sedi Halvorson Sedi@oxbowcc.com
Just a note for those who use the pool frequently, we have ordered replacement canopies for the large white and yellow umbrellas (Funbrellas) on the pool deck, as well as some replacement parts for one of them. I apologize that one of them has not been functional lately, we are hoping to get some parts in shortly. Once in, David will replace them and we should be able to have them both open, even if they have small tears in them. The replacement canopies take longer, as they are custom made, but we will get them on as soon as they arrive, and they should be back to new. The windstorms this year have done a number on them. One fun note, breakfast is back on Saturdays and Sundays at Oxbow! We are excited to offer this to you, after not having it in 2020.Breakfast starts at 7AM Saturday and Sunday, so grab something good before you head on to the course! Thank you all for a great month of June, we hope you enjoyed your club often this past month! We still have so many great things coming your way this summer, we are only getting started! I hope to see you soon, at YOUR club. -Sedi
PROFILE BY SANFORD
We are excited to start offering H2 energy, wafer protein bars and shakes from Sanford Profile. You'll be able to start getting them in the pool and shacks soon!

We will have 2 this summer, with our first one being Friday, July 2nd from 8pm-11pm. We will have live music and will have a buffet available. If you aren't able to make this one, make sure you put Saturday, August 7th on your calendar. 4th of July We can't wait for the return of our big 4th of July celebration! We have a whole day full of activities for everyone in the family from golf tournaments, to inflatable games, to a dj, to yard games, to a live band and of course fireworks! Make sure your 4th plans include spending some time at the club! See the entire 4th schedule on page 7. Kids Camp It's almost time for Oxbow Kids Camp! Have you registered your kids for our OCC Kids Camp yet? There will be 4 weekly sessions July 12-August 6 for kids ages 4-10! You can pick and choose how many weeks you want to go as well! We need your help to make sure we can have kids camp as registration numbers are low, so if you are thinking of registering your kids please do it soon!
Membership Rush Week I am excited to announce a "Rush Week" we will be hosting in August. Do you have friends/family that you have been after to join? This is the week to do it! From August 4August 8th you can bring them out to enjoy all that Oxbow has to offer from ladies night to mens day to Patio music and swim parties. CLUBHOUSE UPDATE Kyle Millar Clubhouse Manager kyle@oxbowcc.com
Summer is in full swing out at Oxbow CC. June has come and gone already, but it was packed full of fun activities! Hot days have made for some very busy afternoons out at the pool. Children and adults alike have been out in full force to come and enjoy the pool this summer. Our Luau pool party at the beginning of the month was super fun. We had a great buffet of food, inflatable games, and a DJ that kept the energy up from start to finish. Music on the patio has also been a big hit this summer too! Coinciding with Couples Night, we’ve had a great turnout for all the acts that have play Oxbow CC. If you haven’t made it out for music on the patio, don’t worry there is more to come in July. The big event of June had to be Battle! This was my first experience with Battle, and there is definitely a learning curve with it. Three full days of events made for a very long weekend, but it was a lot of fun! Seeing all the teams show up in their Battle attire was great. I loved seeing all the effort that was put into picking out the entire outfit. From shoes, to shorts, to shirts, and hats, everything was on point. Some may have been more on the classic end than others but on point none the less. It was also wonderful to see so many nonparticipants show up Friday and Saturday. The mini battle on Friday night brought in a ton of people. Then on Saturday, Guys and Dahls rocked the stage out on the patio! I think the members really loved the band. As we look ahead to July, we have another activity heavy month in front of us. We get going right out of the gate with our 4th of July weekend activities. An adult only pool party on the 2nd gets the weekend rolling. Then on the 4th we have 2 different small golf tourneys, tons of pool activities, delicious food, music on the patio, and then a terrific fireworks display. It should make for a very fun filled and exciting weekend. -Kyle

Food & Bev. Update
TEDD MERRILL FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER TEDD@OXBOWCC.COM
Happy Summer everyone. For those of you who don’t know me yet. I’m Tedd Merrill the new Food and Beverage Manager. I came over from FCC (yes that club) where I was a supervisor over there in the food and beverage department. Prior to that, I was a line cook at a golf course in Nebraska where I am from originally. I’ve served, bartended, and cooked in a few different restaurants over the years. I’m elated to be a part of the Oxbow Country Club team and getting to know all the members and your families as the summer progresses. We have added some amazing staff, along with myself, for the summer that are full of not only great talent, but are also wonderful people to work alongside. We do ask for patience with our new people as some have never worked in the service industry before and we’re still getting to know everyone. We have some exciting things happening and coming up in the food and beverage department. The 4th of July is going to be a fun day for everyone and I’m personally excited to try out some great drink and food specials. I can’t say what they are going to be just yet, so you’ll have to come check out all the fun activities going on that day. Also, I hear that Derby is going to be happening in July and I’ve heard that is a great event for everyone, so I’m excited to see what that is all about. I’m open to any and all suggestions for drink specials or things that you would like to see from the food and beverage department. I look forward to meeting all of you and making your experiences at Oxbow the best that it can be. -Tedd Merrill

Chef's Corner SCOTT MOTSCHENBACHER EXECUTIVE CHEF CHEF@OXBOWCC.COM
Hello, Oxbow! Summer is coming right along. June was a crazy busy month for the culinary department. We had Battle at the Bow, Carson Wentz, and a very very busy pool. It’s great seeing everyone out and enjoying the club. July should be a great month for member events. To kick the month off we have our 4th of July celebration. There will be a ton of fun food all centered around this great country's independence day. This July we will be kicking off some of our kid’s camps, we have Derby, and a ton of sunshine. Be sure to consult the event guide for everything coming up. You do not want to miss out! I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. We have a full staff in the culinary department. It was a little dicey for a minute. I have assembled a fantastic crew for our summer. Everyone brings a special talent to the Oxbow kitchen. Now that we are fully staffed, we will be starting breakfast again on Saturdays and Sundays. I apologize for not making it happen sooner. We are about half a month into the new menu. So far everything has been a hit! As always, I appreciate any input/suggestions. Hit me at chef@oxbowcc.com. Ingredients is the word of the year. When the pandemic first hit in March of 2020 we saw shortages in pork, beef, and sometimes chicken. Then, when the pandemic calmed down we were short on one of the most valuable ingredients, STAFF. We have the staff, now we are seeing more ripple effects from the pandemic. I am starting to see shortages in chicken, a rise in beef costs, and a shortage in paper goods. So far, we have been able to curb any catastrophic outs. I do not know that we are out of the woods yet. Please be patient with us if we experience a major out. We are doing everything we can to keep our shelves stocked. That being said, I still continue to look for better ingredients and fresher ingredients. As far as fresh ingredients go, our eggs could not get much fresher. I found someone hyper local to Oxbow for farm fresh eggs. Their farm is right on the other side of I-29. Less than 3 miles away. I have never in my career seen an egg yolk so yellow, almost orange in color. The taste is absolutely distinguishable. Come out and get some breakfast!
20
Recipe of the Month: EGGS! For this month’s recipe I want to share some tips on eggs. Not all eggs are created equal. Most eggs you buy from the grocery store are perfectly fine. They are the work horses of eggs. They are consistent, they are all perfectly sized, and the yolks are that bland shade of yellow. The first tip I have is how to crack an egg. Yes, there is a technique to it. All be it a minor technique, always crack your egg on a flat surface. This prevents shell fragments getting into the egg. When you cook the egg the yolk should stand tall, not flat. The spread of the white will tell you how old the egg is. If the white spreads out a ton and the yolk is flat like a pancake, you have old eggs. If you are making a recipe that has multiple ingredients crack your eggs into a separate bowl before adding. This will allow you to fish out any shell fragments before it ends up in the bowl with everything else. For this and any other tips email me!

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY David Wood Superintendant david@oxbowcc.com
The discoloration in fairways and approaches is from herbicide applications to control poa annua and bentgrass contamination. The control process is a series of five applications in a 14-day time frame. Multiple applications at low rates will not damage the bluegrass. This is the third year we have used this product and will continue in the future as long as we see results. In July we will be spraying tee boxes to reduce the bent grass infestation.
A large part of our job during the summer is water management. Too much water and playing conditions can be affected and to little water the grass plants suffer. The first three weeks of June had been some of the driest conditions I have seen at Oxbow. The high temperatures and low humidity levels made it a challenge to keep the soil wet enough. The irrigation system that was installed has performed above expectations. The irrigation pumping station located behind 12 green has two 75hp motors that can deliver up to 1,500 gallons of water a minute around the property. There are 1,600 sprinkler heads, that cover about 110 acres of the managed turf grass. No sprinklers were installed in the native areas based on grass selection and wanting to keep the fescues playable.
22
Managing water on the sand base areas, greens and tees, is more intensive due to how fast these areas dry out. The sprinkler locations are closer together in these areas, with dual heads arounds around greens to allow us to dry them down without losing rough surrounds. Supplemental hand watering of the greens is a required practice to keep firm conditions. Water meters (TDR’s) are used to measure the volumetric water content of the rootzone at a 2’ depth. These meters take the guess work out of knowing how much and when to apply irrigation.
There have been questions about sand bunker rake placement when a player has finished playing out of the hazard. Please place the rake head in the sand with the handle up on the grass after smoothing out divot and foot prints. Please vary cart traffic patterns when existing and entering cart paths to help balance the wear on the grass. See you on the course. David Wood

GOLF SHOP UPDATE Corey Herlickson Head Golf Professional corey@oxbowcc.com
We had a successful junior camp with 98 juniors attending. It was led by our Director of Instruction, Ben Walker. Ben and his assistants did a great time and all of the juniors really had a fun time. Battle at the Bow was a success with the help of our entire golf operations team. It is a blessing to have so many dedicated and talented teammates. Congratulations to Ross Uglem and Ryan Hillesland on their win! We also want to thank the Battle at the Bow Committee members, Bill Short, Darin Millar and Roger Campbell. We have had a very successful season in the golf shop as far as merchandise sales are concerned. We continue to receive new products on a daily basis. We will start seeing our late summer/fall orders come in for apparel. We have displayed some of our female leisure wear items in the pool house for you to view. We are very appreciative of all of your patience in regard to special orders. As most industries have found out the supply chain for golf equipment is backed up badly, therefore it is taking a lot longer to get product in once it is ordered. We are making sure that we are keeping up with the ETA on orders that seem to be taking longer than expected. We will continue to do our best to get you your orders as soon as we possibly can. If you have any club fitting needs or repairs/tweaks done to your clubs please come ask the golf professional team. We have brand new bending equipment that can bend irons and putters. It is the best in the industry! We are thankful for the Stag Committee for purchasing them of us. We have plenty of tournaments remaining and this month we have the Independence Day Tournament, Independence Day Family Tournament, and the Derby (don’t forget Derby Couples the night before)! You can sign up for any of those events in the golf shop!
-Corey 24
A WORD FROM YOUR DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTION Ben Walker Hey Folks! Summer is in full swing! Please be sure to check out all of toe junior programs that Oxbow CC has to offer. There are Jr. Clinics every Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 PM and Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 AM. PGA Jr. League is about half way complete. Oxbow CC has 2 teams competing this year and we are having a great time. If you are looking for individual or group instruction, please call in and set up a time with me. Thanks, Ben Walker Director of Instruction
