SEDI HALVORSON GENERAL MANAGER Welcome to June, everyone! This month is very exciting for all of us at the club as the season really gets into fullswing. Couples’ golf will start this Friday evening, league is well underway, the second annual Ladies’ Tri-Bow is in two weeks, and our fifth annual member-guest tournament, the Battle at the Bow, will take place the third week of the month! The pool is open, and although we haven’t had too many great days to take advantage, the warm weather will be here very soon. We have already had many great events this spring, including spring fling, the league opener, and the Memorial Day mixer. As always, please check the online event calendar at oxbowcc.com to view all the upcoming events, as well as any outside events that will be taking place here at the course. In a bit of exciting technology news, Oxbow has engaged the services of a company called Clubster, which will allow the club to communicate much better with the membership, through a mobile app. Clubster provides this service to over 300 clubs nationwide. Clubster will allow us to send alerts to your phone, for such issues as cart restrictions, pool closings, rain delays, etc. It also allows you to join specific groups, such as league members, women’s golf group, pool alerts group, and more. We are planning to roll out this service to the membership by the end of the month, so please look for an email inviting your to join Clubster in the near future. This application is purely an effort to be able to enhance our ability to communicate with our membership. Just a quick note on golf course and clubhouse construction. Many of you have asked me about the injunction that was granted stopping ring dike construction around the Oxbow Hickson Bakke area, and how it affects the club. Currently, no work has stopped on either the golf course, nor our plans to start construction of the clubhouse in late June or early July. The ring dike construction itself has stopped, but we have received no instructions to cease either of our projects. I will keep everyone updated throughout the summer on these projects. Please also read David’s updates every month for more detailed golf course construction news.

TOM KEPPEL One housekeeping item this month: we have purchased sand and seed CONTROLLER ACCOUNTING@OXBOWCC.COM; EXT. 10 bottles for anyone that uses a Sun Mountain push cart. The bottles attach to a small bracket on the frame of the cart which most of the push carts already have, and allow walkers to fill divots with ease. You will see the bottles on holes #1 and #10, next to the riding cart bottles. Please see the JOHN DAHL, PGA pro shop or myself if you have any questions about this, or need a bracket HEAD GOLF PRO attached to your push cart. Thank you in advance for helping keep our JDGOLF@OXBOWCC.COM course looking and playing great throughout the season! DAVID WOOD SUPERINTENDENT DAVIDW@OXBOWCC.COM

I hope everyone is ready for a great summer at Oxbow! As always, please let me know if there is anything we can do to improve our services. Sedi 2

- Director of Member Engagement & Events As you may have already noticed, wedding season is upon us at OCC! We welcomed our first tent wedding of the year on Memorial Day weekend. This is just the start to a summer full of happy couples walking down the aisle at Oxbow. Remember, if you would ever like to host a wedding (or any other special occasion, for that matter) at Oxbow, you enjoy discounted/ waived rental fees as a member. We also welcomed our first outside tournament of the season on Monday, June 1st. Diamond in the Ruff hosted their inaugural golf fundraiser at Oxbow with huge success! As a reminder, outside golf tournaments take place fairly regularly on Mondays & Tuesdays during the season. Please check our online event calendar or call the Pro Shop before you plan to come out and golf. We want to make sure we have open tee times ready and waiting for you!

INGREDIENTS 2

Tsp

Vegetable Oil

1/3

Cup

Chopped Red Onion

2

Tbsp

Green Bell Pepper

1/3

Cup

Mayonnaise

1/3

Cup

Dijon Mustard

1/2

Cup

Worcestershire Sauce

1

Tbsp

Old Bay

1

Pound

Diced Andouille Sausage

26

Large Shrimp, Cut in Thirds

2 2/3

Cup

Panko Bread Crumbs

1

Tbsp

Samble

2

Tbsp

Lemon Juice

Start by sautéing the peppers and onions in pan with vegetable oil for 1 minute, then add the cut shrimp and sausage to pan and begin to cook. Cook meat until shrimp starts to turn orange, then turn off heat and let the mixture cool. While meat mixture is cooling, mix all other listed ingredients in a large bowl. Once the vegetable and meat mixture has cooled, mix into bowl with everything else. Let combined mixture chill in the fridge for 1 hour. After the hour is up, portion the mixture into cake-sized patties. Heat butter (1TBS) on high in large sauté pan, then turn to medium heat before smoke point occurs. Once butter is heated, place cakes in pan (tip: do not crowd pan). Sear cakes on each side for roughly 1-2 minutes to get a nice, even crust. Once the cakes are crusted on each side, transfer them to a sheet pan and place in a preheated 350̊ F oven. Cook cakes for about 5 minutes, serve and enjoy!

As the weather warms up and summer approaches, we are getting into full-swing at the club. Chef James has finished our summer menu! We are very excited for you to come out to the grill and try some new options. We also have beer back on tap! Come relax on the patio after a round of golf with a Leinie’s Summer Shandy or a New Belgium Fat Tire. Also, we have our brand new beverage carts running with lots of great drink and snack options to keep you going on the course. We look forward to seeing you soon! Ryan Poissant Director of Food and Beverage

Course conditions have improved dramatically since the beginning of May. The fairway overseeding process was completed with some timely rain arriving. We are seeing areas that are filling in quickly and several areas that will need some additional attention. All the seeded areas have been mowed; mowing will promote the formation of multiple leaf structures, helping the thin areas to fill in and become playable. This past month’s Green and Grounds Committee meeting focused mainly on two items: new course construction and current green speed conditions. Starting with the latter, we have reviewed all the mechanical, cultural and fertility aspects of our green maintenance. On the mechanical side, the new walking greens mowers have arrived and been put into service. We are impressed with how they operate and will soon be adjusting the height of cut and groomer depth to maximize their performance. Groomer depth is the amount of vertical cutting or thinning that happens each time we mow. The objective is to remove excessive plant material and grain to reduce friction as the ball moves across the plants. This practice will be a main focus for us this month. Keeping less plant material on the putting surface is easy to do, but the draw back is declining plant health. Increasing the amount of fertilizer will be important to maintain a vigorous grass plant. After reviewing last year’s fertility levels, we were very lean which lead to unhealthy plant conditions. This year, we Bridge Construction for hole #1 and #10 tee. will promote a healthier plant environment that can tolerate additional grooming. We have also adjusted our weekly green’s maintenance schedule to incorporate brushing and topdressing, and finally we will be using the greens rollers more during the summer to smooth and firm up the surface. Last year, we were rolling approximately three times a week. This year, we are scheduling 4 to 5 times per week. In regards to the new course construction, Bruce Charlton was here for his first construction site visit of the year. Bruce was able to review the work Irrigation pump station being off-loaded that Landscapes Unlimited has completed and offered suggestions as to what he needs adjusted or changed. Areas that he focused on are sub-grade elevations and golf feature work. These must be approved before the contractor can proceed with drainage, irrigation or seeding. We are hoping for drier weather to keep the construction process moving along. See you on the course. David Wood Bruce Charlton from RTJ II visits the site. 6

It’s hard to believe it’s already June, but here we are ready to jump into the busy season! Let’s hope the weather shapes up and we have lots of successful and fun events including the Battle at the Bow on the weekend of June 18-20. Junior Golf Camp begins June 1st and runs through June 5th. Junior League begins the following week. If you are looking for something for the kids to do this summer, there is no better place for them to be than on the green! Congratulations to Leo, Tammy, and Jackson Worner, along with Terry Shafer for winning the Memorial Day Mixer on a rain-soaked day. Thanks to all of the participants who came out in the less-than-ideal weather. Ladies, come on out on Wednesday evenings for group lessons with John with golf tee times following. There is also a two-day ladies invitational on Thursday June 11th and Friday June 12th so get a team of two together and let your friends at other clubs know. Couples Kick-Off is this coming Friday, June 5th, starting with dinner/social at 5:30 PM and a shotgun start at 6:30 PM. It’s a Mardi Gras theme this week--get ready to party! On a regular basis, Couples’ Golf starts every Friday night with a 6:00 PM shotgun start. There will be a USGA junior amateur qualifier hosted at the club on Wednesday, June 24 th. Please go to the USGA website to register if you are interested in attempting to qualify for one of the most prestigious Junior events in the country. The NDGA state stroke play will be played here at our club on June 27 th and 28th. Register with the NDGA if you want to attempt to win the premier state championship. Spots are filling up fast to join John Dahl and friends on the annual bus trip happening on June 29 th and 30th. This year’s destination is Grand Falls Resort and Casino just outside of Sioux Falls. Stop in the pro shop to check out the new lineups from Travis Matthew, Under Armor and Nike, plus all of the other great items. We would like to welcome Trey Dale to the golf shop team, as well as welcome Cheryl Ulrickson back for another year. Stop in to say “Hi” to them next time you are around. Thank you to Matt Mueller and First International Bank for donating golf tees to the club this year. If anyone is interested in sponsoring tees for the second half of the season please let us know in the shop. Happy Golfing EveryoneGolf Shop Team

Golf League has started and the Golf Bags team, including Jane Mattson, Sheri Champ and Wendy Frappier, are off to a great start and in the lead. Also, congratulations to Tammy Worner! She was a member of the winning team in the Memorial Day Mixer golf event. Ladies’ Night kicked off last week with a Par 3 scramble and will continue through August 19. Golf lessons from John will be provided throughout the summer. Ladies’ Night out on Wednesdays is designed to promote learning and the enjoyment of the game. The focus is on the fun and comradery aspect versus competition. Whether you are a regular player or a beginner, we would like you to join us for an evening of golf. The schedule for the summer is listed below. The Ringer Board game has started with some hole-by-hole scores entered. Log your golf score on the board and each time you improve a score on a hole, update the board and celebrate your golf achievements! It runs through August 15 and is for all golfers, regardless of skill level. You can start at any time and it’s only $5. The 2nd Annual Tri-Bow Ladies golf tournament is June 11th and 12th of this year. It’s a 2 -person best ball with three separate events.
