SEDI HALVORSON GENERAL MANAGER It’s hard to believe that May is already here! We had a great April for golf--by North Dakota standards anyway--and it was great to see so many members out on the course and in the clubhouse! I hope most everyone has been able to get in some April golf with how nice it has been. With that, I would also like to welcome our new members that have decided to join the Oxbow family! I have listed our new members to date below, and hope that everyone will come out to the Spring Fling on May 15 to meet them and welcome them to our club. Already this year, we have 12 new members and families that have decided to join us. Also, a couple of general notes: our summer membership guide for this year is now up on oxbowcc.com. In the membership guide, you will find everything you need to know about the upcoming summer season, including information on swimming lessons, junior golf, leagues, events, and activities that will be going on all season long.
ALISON MOLONY MEMBER ENGAGEMENT & EVENTS ALISON@OXBOWCC.COM; EXT. 12
It was great to see many of you at the annual meeting on April 16 th! We discussed many topics, including club financials, goals for 2015, and our new clubhouse and course. Also, a big congratulations to Bill Short, who was elected to an open seat on the Board of Directors, and to Dave Campbell, who takes over as president of the board.
RYAN POISSANT DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE RYAN@OXBOWCC.COM; EXT. 11
Lastly, I just want to thank Chris Holland for his service as President of the Board of Directors. Chris took over as president at one of the most critical points in the history of this club. His leadership and vision over the past three years will have an impact on the future of Oxbow for many years to come.
JAMES KERR EXECUTIVE CHEF CHEF@OXBOWCC.COM; EXT. 22
I hope to see you all on the course soon. As always, contact me at any time if there is a way that we can make your club even better!

- Director of Member Engagement & Events Happy May, everyone! I always view May as our official kick-off month to the season. The weather is more consistently beautiful and the days are long enough to enjoy a full 18 after work--what could be better? As we approach our busy season, make sure you use the tools at your disposal to stay up-to-speed with our jam -packed event calendar! From swimming lessons to golf tournaments, you can now find our full event calendar on the member-side of the website. There, you will also find a link to our 2015 Summer Membership Guide on the main page. As always, we will be sending out weekly emails and displaying flyers around the club. If you ever have any questions about what’s happening at the club, please don’t hesitate to ask me or any of the management staff!

Dave Campbell first joined Oxbow in 2005 with his wife, Shannon. At first, what brought him to Oxbow was location and the convenience of living only two miles away--but that’s not why he continues to stay a member! “The members are what make Oxbow great! We have gained another family through our membership. It’s a wonderful place that my entire family can enjoy and it’s one of the best decisions we have ever made.” Dave and Shannon have three children: Payton (12), Molly (10), and Luke (5).
Get ready for another season of fun in the sun! The Pool opens for the season at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 23rd (weather permitting). Make sure to get your child signed up for our first session of Swimming Lessons, starting on June 8th. Contact Alison for more information: 701.588.4666; alison@oxbowcc.com.

1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, egg, 1/2 cup water, and salt to form a dough. Cut into thin strips or small pieces. 2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Stir in dough, potatoes and onion. Cook 10 minutes and drain. 3. While pasta and potatoes are cooking, cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Save drippings. 4. Return pasta and potato mixture to large pot over mediumlow heat, and combine with bacon, a teaspoon of bacon grease, milk, cream, salt, and pepper. Adjust bacon grease to taste. Simmer 10 minutes, without boiling. Serve hot.
Spring is starting to shape up, and so are the number of great team members coming aboard for the upcoming season! We are all looking forward to providing you with great food, drinks, and service this summer. Chef James is finalizing our new summer menu with some great items! We will be making a few small changes to make food and beverage service better than ever. Our new beverage carts will give us more opportunity to provide additional items on the course that we haven’t been able to provide before. We are also bringing on a new F&B Service Manager to help make service better than ever. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if there is anything myself or the rest of the food and beverage team can do to make your experience at the club as good as possible. Thanks, Ryan Poissant
The course did not come through the winter as we expected. The lack of snow to insulate the turf and ice cover on the Poa was lethal in spots. We have started slit seeding damaged fairways and collars this week. Seeding the damaged areas will take about 5 to 7 days for fairways. The seed used this spring is a combination of rye grass and bluegrass that can tolerate a more open winter and ice. We are hoping for warmer temperatures and minimal rain during this process. Once seeding is finished, we will have to keep the areas wet to promote germination. Please keep your carts off the fairways and stay in the rough during this recovery time. With the abnormally dry month of April, the irrigation system has been started. We are seeing a large amount of soil movement around the irrigation heads and piping; this has caused water pipes to break and in some cases, pipes to shear at valve locations. Please be aware of our staff working around the course during these repairs. The construction of the new nine holes and driving range is under way. Bruce Charlton from RTJ was onsite for several days in April to review what was completed last fall. Bruce has drawn up three green complex sketches for the contractor to begin working on (see photo). All golf feature shaping of holes are completed off of sketches like this; then the dirt work must be approved by the architect before the final phase of green and bunker construction concludes. This spring I would like to remind everyone to repair ball marks and replace your divots. With the turf still off-colored, it is challenging to see your ball marks on the greens; but as the putting surfaces turn green, they will become more apparent. In regards to divots, please replace the turf before filling the hole with sand. This time of year with the weather cooler, the divot is faster to heal with the sod put back in place. Please pass this message along to your family and guests that play here and all golf courses. See you on the course. David Wood 6
It’s hard to believe we have been playing golf for over a month and it’s only the beginning of May! That being said, we are very excited to kick-off our tournament season this Saturday, May 2nd with the annual “Opener”. Call the Pro Shop today and schedule your tee time between 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM on Saturday morning. The format is individual medal play with prizes going to low gross and net scores. Cost is $35 for members. Guests are welcome to play with a member for $50 a player, which includes lunch and prizes. We are still looking for a couple of League teams this season, which begins on Tuesday, May 12 th. Men’s League will feature 4-player teams for $450/team. Ladies’ League will consist of 2-person teams for $250/team. Alternates are allowed for every team as we understand some can’t make it out each week. We already have almost twice as many ladies’ teams as we had last season! As summer approaches and the kids are getting out of school, there is no better place for them to be than at John Dahl’s junior golf camp June 1st-5th.. Drop the kids off at 8:30 AM for your convenience. Daily lunch follows camp and is included in the fee. For just $100 per child, they will receive top-notch instruction, learn valuable life and golf lessons, and have fun! Guests are welcome for $125 per child as well. Call the Pro Shop today to register your kids. Just a friendly reminder for those planning on playing in Thursday men’s day games (or any other club events) to post EVERY SCORE in the handicap computer, or visit ghin.com to post scores from outside of North Dakota. For extra convenience, download the Ghin smartphone app to stay on top of posting all year long. We have had a few issues with incorrect handicaps due to a lack of scores posted and want to make sure the playing field is level across the board. Talk to John or Josh in the Pro Shop with any handicap questions or issues. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, make sure to stop in and check out all the great new items from Nike, Gear for Sports, and Footjoy to have the special ladies in your life looking great on the links all year long! We have great new Men’s apparel from Nike, Footjoy, Paige and Tuttle, and PING as well. Try on a pair of the revolutionary and stylish new Tiger Woods golf shoes to complete the look and play your best. Come out on May 7th from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM to try the latest and greatest from PING and Titleist at our fitting day. Keep an eye out for other upcoming events this month including the Memorial Day Mixer on May 25 th and the Ladies’ Night Kick-off on Wednesday, May 27th. Details regarding those events are available on the following pages. See you on the course! John Dahl

Women’s Golf Corner, by Marie Talley: The Women’s Golf Committee has worked closely with the Oxbow management team to conduct a survey and build a summer schedule. Our goal is to develop a network of women with similar golf interests, and make it easy for them to connect. We are currently in the final steps for creating a contact list with golfing preferences that will be shared among the women-only members. Watch for future emails from the Oxbow management team! Featured Wednesday Ladies’ Night events include: May 27 - Wine & Nine June 24 - Mom’s Night Out July 29 - Ladies’ Summer Scramble August 19 - Poker Night The Ladies’ Night group golf lessons with John will start on June 3 rd. Sessions start at 5:15pm and conclude by 6:00pm so you have time to get in a 9-hole round of golf. There is no charge for these sessions – it’s a great way to begin learning to golf, or brush up on your skills. Additional sessions are planned on the following dates: June 10 and 17 July 1, 8, and 15
The 2nd Annual Tri-Bow Ladies’ Golf Tournament is June 11 and 12 of this year. It’s a 2person best ball with three separate events. Thursday is an 18-hole best ball and Friday is a 9-hole scramble and a 9-hole alternate shot. Contact the Pro Shop to register and invite all your golfing friends to play. We currently have 7 teams for Ladies’ League on Tuesday nights. If you don’t have a team, we’ll get you on one. Contact the Pro Shop to get placed on a team. If you thought that was not enough fun, join us in a summer long “Ringer Board” that will help you have fun and improve your golf game. It runs from May 15 – August 15. Enter your first 9 or 18 hole-by-hole golf score on a board in the Ladies’ Locker room. Each time you golf a better score on a hole, update the board to see your low scores for the summer. Fun prizes will be awarded at the last Ladies Night on August 19. It’s only $5 to join in the fun!
