BOARD OF DIRECTORS DAVE CAMPBELL - PRESIDENT I don’t know about you, but I’ve had just about enough wind this spring! As we move into May, hopefully we will leave some of those North Dakota “breezes” in April. We have so many great things coming your way as the season starts to get into full swing! With so much coming up in the next month, I encourage all our members to take time to read through this month’s newsletter, as it contains lots of information about upcoming events and activities.

Membership As of the end of April, we have had 38 new members and families join our club! At this same time last year, we had 11 new members. Our golf course is in amazing condition, and we are continuing to make Oxbow a place the entire family can enjoy! I am truly excited to welcome these new member families to Oxbow, and hope that you will also take time to say hi to a new face as you see these new members around the club. Mailings Last week we sent out three different letters to our membership in one mailing. The topics addressed were membership certificates, credit policy, and our membership year. I hope everyone has received these letters by now. If you have not, please contact me at the club, as we probably have an out-of-date home address. All the member letters addressed important topics to you as a member, so please ensure to read them in detail. If you have any questions or concerns about any of the topics addressed in these letters, please contact me to discuss. Oxbow Day Camp As you have seen in recent emails and on signs throughout the club, Oxbow CC will be hosting its first annual kids day camp throughout the summer! We are truly excited to be able to bring this to our members. In partnering with KECamps, a company that puts on over 90 camps at clubs throughout the country, we know that the Oxbow kids will truly enjoy this camp! More information follows on Page 10 of the newsletter. I hope all of our members with kids age 4 – 12 consider this option as you are making your summer plans. Campers can go to all five weeks of camp, just one week, or anything in between. If you have any questions on Oxbow Day Camp, please contact Alison or me at any time. I hope we can build this in to an annual tradition for our young members! Assistant Golf Professional As most of you know, Randy Gresh has left Oxbow to pursue a career in a different field. We wish Randy nothing but the best and thank him for everything he did for the club while he was here. With that, we have hired Eric Alan Wenaas as our new 1 st Assistant Golf Professional. Eric is a Class A PGA Golf Professional, and has worked at some outstanding clubs including Glenmoor Country Club, Colorado Golf Club, and is currently the PGA Teaching Professional at CrossRoads Golf Club in Carrington, ND. Eric brings a wealth of experience to Oxbow and I am excited we were able to find someone with Eric’s experience. His first day at Oxbow will be May 16th. In conclusion, the team here at Oxbow is ready for another great season! I hope to see all of you at YOUR club. Sedi

Happy May, Oxbow Members! As you can see by the front page of our newsletter, your new clubhouse is taking shape and is going to be gorgeous! While it is sad to say goodbye to our original clubhouse from 1975, you should be VERY excited for what is in store. Your new clubhouse is an amazing facility. Already, 13 couples have said “YES!” to holding their wedding with us in 2017! Remember, as a member, you enjoy waived facility rental for any event you hold in the Clubhouse. Is someone in your family getting married? Are you looking to host a work party? Planning an anniversary, graduation, or birthday party? Now more than ever, it’s important that you call to book your date well in advance. If you are interested in more information, contact me right away. I’d be happy to talk with you about holding your event at Oxbow and/or bring you on a tour of the new Clubhouse!

Opening the golf course every spring is always a highlight for our department after working in the shop all winter. A big question at opening is always how did the course over-winter and how many irrigation breaks will we have to repair? In twenty years, I do not remember the course being in this good of shape and the watering system working this well. With these two variables not taking up much of our time, we have begun walk mowing the greens earlier in the season than usual. We have found these mowers to provide a better quality of cut which will help increase green speed. Our seasonal staff will be arriving throughout the month so the daily maintenance routines will intensify. Tees, aprons, and collars will be mowed every other day. Nine holes of fairways will be mowed daily and all 18 on Thursdays. Landscapes Unlimited has begun maintenance on the new nine holes with the removal of the winter green and tee covers. All the grass looks good and is being mowed as their labor force arrives. This spring, I would like to remind everyone to repair ball marks and replace your divots. It can be challenging to see your ball marks on the greens this time of the year, but as the season progresses they will become more apparent. In regards to divots, please replace the turf before filling the hole with sand. This time of year with the weather cooler, the divot is faster to heal with the sod put back in place. Please pass this message along to your family and guests that play here and all golf courses.
See you on the course, David Wood
