Well, September has come and gone quicker than I ever imagined. We had some great events, including our annual Couples’ Glow Ball and the Hot Ball Tournament! I hope all who were able to attend had a great time! We were also able to open the new south golf holes to our membership at the end of the month. The new nine will be available this coming Thursday, October 6th - Sunday, October 9th as well. Please remember to share your feedback after playing a couple of rounds so that we can make adjustments as necessary. The new holes truly are in amazing shape. Hats off to David Wood and his team for all they have done to create a memorable experience! As we turn the page to October, we start the transition to our new clubhouse. We are truly excited about this and hope that all of our members are as well. With this transition, we will be having some changes in food and beverage service throughout the month. Please read the full move schedule, located on the following page. We will be gradually reducing services in our current clubhouse throughout October. We will do all that we can to ensure you are still able to enjoy your club. However, due to the large scale of this process, we also must ensure that we allow ourselves the opportunity to move into our new facility and open it to the members in a great way. I know everyone is excited to get into our new home. In order to give you an outstanding experience in the new club, that requires us to make the transition gradually. We appreciate everyone’s patience through this process and know it will be well worth it. Also, please note that as the days get shorter, our Clubhouse and Pro Shop hours of operation get shorter as well. Please review our operating hours on the front page of this newsletter. October will be a very busy month for our club, even if you don’t see it on the golf course. This is something that only happens once in a lifetime. It is nice to begin to see the finish line for the new clubhouse. The Oxbow management team has lots of work to do in the next month to get everything ready. Again, we thank all of the membership for their patience through this process. I hope everyone gets a chance to come out and say goodbye to our current clubhouse on Friday! It will be great fun to have our members hanging out and having fun one last time together in this building. See you at your club, Sedi

October’s Employee Spotlight is the is the friendly server we all know and love, Erica Olson. Erica has spent two summers at Oxbow and absolutely loves it! Her favorite part of the job is interacting and assisting members, as well as spending time with her coworkers. What’s her least favorite task? Polishing silverware. “Polishing isn't the most thrilling task for the servers, but it is a good downtime activity when the restaurant isn’t very busy.” Despite working in the food and beverage business, Erica claims to be one of the pickiest eaters ever. However, she really enjoys the quesadilla on the menu at Oxbow.
Erica Olson, Server October Employee Spotlight
Erica is very excited for the move to the new clubhouse. “The dining area will have a much better flow. We will have more open space to move around and a better ability to see all of the members dining. I’m also looking forward to the fact that I don’t have to climb a flight of stairs to get to the kitchen!” Along with working at Oxbow, Erica works as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom at Lincoln Elementary School. “My favorite part about that job is the kids I work with. They are always a lot of fun to be around and bring joy to my day.”
In Erica’s free time, she can be found reading, shopping, or watching football and hockey.

Hello, everyone! It has been a busy first month for me at Oxbow! I hope that you all have noticed some improvement in the food - I try little by little every day to make it better. I am very excited for the new menu at the new Clubhouse. Please let me know if you have any input, Next time you’re dining at the club, feel free to ask to speak with me about any ideas you may have. This month, I am providing my chicken stock recipe because it is a great base for so many dishes. Not only can you use this in many different recipes, but your house will smell just like Grandma’s. CHICKEN STOCK RECIPE Ingredients: 2-3 chicken bodies 2 stocks celery, largely chopped (I use the leafy interior for just a little extra flavor) 2 large carrots, largely chopped (just washed, not peeled) 1 large yellow onion, largely chopped (wash and pull the beard off, leave rough skin on) 1 large rutabaga, largely chopped 6 parsley stems 4 whole cloves of garlic 1 sachet (2 bay leaves, 10 whole peppercorns, 4 sprigs of thyme, and 3 sage leaves all wrapped and tied into cheesecloth) 8 quarts cold water Procedure: Process all vegetables. The next part is quite easy. Fill your stock pot with all the ingredients. Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer. Let simmer for 4-6 hours. Tip: don’t let the stock roll on a hard boil or you will burn some of the tasty particulates floating around in the stock. Please let me know if you have any questions about this recipe. Thank You and see you at your club soon!
WE ARE HIRING! With the excitement of the new clubhouse and doubling our banquet space, we are looking to grow our team. We will be hiring for quality servers, cooks, bartenders, and banquet staff. At Oxbow, our team has the flexibility to work only one weekend a month or make it their fulltime career! Oxbow Country Club is a great place to work. Please help us spread the word. If you know of anyone that would be interested working at your new clubhouse, please have them contact me at Jake@oxbowcc.com or fill out an application on our website. 5

First, I would like to thank all the volunteers that came out to assist us in preparing the new golf holes for play. There was a sand/seed crew out filling thin areas on Holes 10 and 15 that used over 3,000 pounds of sand and 125 pounds of seed. Yardage markers and tee posts were installed, cart paths were cleaned, and tree guards secured. There was over 200 man-hours donated during the process. Landscapes Unlimited is proceeding along with phase two of the construction project. Topsoil has been removed from Holes 8, 16, 13, and 14. Pond excavation is underway on the Hole 15 lake. They will be removing 35,000 cubic yards of soil from this lake expansion for added contours on golf holes around the Maintenance Shop. The rough shaping of new Hole 8 (old 16) is taking place now. This hole will still dog-leg left, but will now drain to the east. Play has now stopped on Holes 7 and 17 so construction can begin. Trees will be removed and topsoil stripped and stockpiled. The lake between 7 and 17 will be enlarged substantially. This excavated soil will be used for the grading on the two replacement holes. To keep nine holes in play, we will open two temporary holes, which are east of current Hole 2 and west of current Hole 5. These two par 3 holes may not be the longest on the course, but will still challenge any golfer to make a par. Please remember to stay away from all construction areas when the contractor is here and working. Congratulations to our Assistant Superintendent, Ben Arvidson. Ben and his wife, Alli, are proud new parents of twin boys, Jack and Henry. Please congratulate Ben next time you see him. See you on the course.
Saturday, October 15th 9 AM - 2 PM We have furniture, glassware, decorative items, etc. that will need a new home once we move to the new facility. Please come see what’s available before we open the purchases up to the public. If you would like to know if a specific item will be available for sale, please contact Alison: alison@oxbowcc.com.
