FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

I hope everyone had a great September! We had great weather throughout most of the month, and even extended the pool a few extra days. As we head into October, we begin the process of finalizing our plans for the off season months, which unfortunately will be here shortly. However, we have much in store for all of our members to get you through the cold and snow.

Upcoming

We are a month away from the new arcade coming in to the ballroom, as well as our two new Trackman Simulators. We are extremely excited about these upgrades and additions for you this winter. Some big news is that this winter we will be open on Tuesdays! Please note that we will have a limited menu on Tuesdays, but will be open nonetheless. Our membership has grown significantly over the past couple of years, and with the addition of new off-season amenities, we believe this is the time to make the change. We will put out the Tuesday menu for all the members as we get closer to November. We will also be finalized simulator hours for the off season, and will also distribute that toward the end of the month.

Speaking of which, Chef and his team are busy getting our winter menu finalized. We are also putting the finishing touches on the off-season event guide, and plan to distribute that to you shortly. We are excited to show all of you how fun your club can be even when the pool and golf course are closed.

October Hours

Please note that the tee sheet begins later this month. Tuesday Friday, the first tee time will now be at 10AM, Mondays will stay at noon.Saturdays and Sundays the tee sheet will open at 8:30AM. We will alert you as necessary for any frost delays that will come up, typically later in October. Additionally, note that member dining returns to closing at 9PM every night except Sunday, which we close at 8PM.

MANAGER'S MESSAGE

Course Closing

Not that anyone wants to talk about it, but sometime in the next six weeks we will close the course for the season. When that will be, no one knows. Please note, as we do every year, we will give you as much advance warning as mother nature allows us to do.Our hope is that we are playing in to November, but you never know. In the meantime, I hope everyone gets to enjoy some beautiful fall golf at your club.

This time of year, we also try and do any outside work around the club that needs to be completed before it gets too cold. So far, we have sealed the cracks in the parking lot asphalt, painted the entry way doors (which turned out great!), completed some cosmetic touch ups on the outside of the pool house, and more It is important for us to stay on top of these “small” things, and make sure the club does not fall behind on maintenance. We will do more inside items during out annual deep cleaning period, which we moved back this year to January 23rd through February 2nd 2023 Please note the club will be closed during that time.

Have a great month of October, I hope to see you around the club!

MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING UPDATE

Fall is officially here! The air is colder, the leaves are more colorful and football season is here! I will be honest, summer is my favorite season and I am always sad to see it go, but fall is my favorite outfit season so I guess I will embrace the boots and scarves and hope that fall lasts all the way to January.

With the turning of the leaves we also start thinking of the club turning over to the "offseason". I know no one is in a rush for the course to close, but just know we have so much fun in store for you this off-season including a brand new arcade and 2 new Trackman simulators!

Arcade

The arcade will be coming back this year (beginning of November), better than ever! New games and a new layout await you! One thing that will be changing this year is that we will be implementing the same guest policy as the pool. Meaning we will charge $8/guest for arcade use and local guests (within 50 miles) will only be allowed out once per calendar month. We will have a sign in sheet near the arcade just like we do in the pool.

Another thing to note with the arcade is that you aren't able to privately reserve the space but we are more than happy to help you set up a party/event in family dining and you can utilize the arcade. Please reach out to theresa@oxbowcc.com for any of those needs. The only time the arcade will be closed to the membership would be for special club events (such as STAG) and for our kids night events.

October Fun

Before I get too far ahead of myself with the off-season events I want to mention all the fun events we have coming up this October including the return of trivia night (Oct 20), family bingo (Oct. 9), a pumpkin decorating contest (Oct 23rd), a Caymus wine dinner (Oct. 11th) and of course Oxboo on the 30th. This year's Oxboo will be a little different as we will be hosting a carnival! Hope to see you out at these events and around the club! As always if you have any membership referrals, event ideas, etc please don't hesitate to reach out to me -Aja

ACCOUNTANT'S AVENUE

e. While it may be spooky season, we don't want you to be w please some of our most commonly asked questions about member accounts. If you ever have questions on your bill please reach out to me at accounting@oxbowcc.com.

Is gratuity automatically added to my check?

The 18% gratuity is only automatically applied if you don't sign your slip If you would like to leave a custom tip amount you can always ask for your slip and tip how you would like. Getting your slip is also a great way to make sure you were charged correctly for everything you ordered, especially if you are splitting items with other members, etc.

How do I see my most recent charges? Why hasn't my statement balance changed?

Statements are only processed once a month (around the 5th of the month). So the statement balance you see when you check your account on the app, will not change for the month even after you have made a payment. If you make a payment on your account after the 30th, it will not be shown on your next statement However you can go to your recent charges to see that your payment has been processed. To do this, go to the app and click on current statement. This will take you to your account. On the top left, there is a ‘recent’ tab, this will show you all of your recent charges. If there are any discrepancies, please let me know and we can get it fixed If you do not have the app or do not know how to run it, please let me know, I can look up your recent spending or can help you get acquainted with the app.

How can I pay my bill?

There are several payment options Our preferred method is autopay, please contact me for an ACH or Credit Card authorization form. Please note, there is a 3% fee to use your credit card. Auto pay is completed on the 10th of the month. If the 10th falls on a weekend, I will process auto-pay on the next business day.

You can also make payments on the app/website, send a check to the club, or you can drop off payment in my mailbox, which can be found in the first room down the administration office hallway.

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER UPDATE

Hello everyone! I hope everyone has had a GREAT kick off to fall here at Oxbow, it’s hard to believe it’s already October!

I hope you all have been enjoying this wonderful fall we have been having. Looking back at the month of September, it’s been a fun month. Whether that was hanging out at the pool in it’s final days or the pet pool party. Glow ball was a huge success and a total blast, thank you to everyone who came out! And then towards the end of the month we had the Denim and Diamonds Ball, the 5K run, and also the tailgating party!

Over all September has been a great month, and I want to thank all of you for coming to enjoy your club!

Looking ahead, as fall is coming in full swing, we still have the whole month of October with plenty of fun things in the books for all to enjoy! I’m ready for the changing of the leaves, bonfires on the patios with friends, and just the changing of the seasons. Keep an eye on the event guides, Aja has a fun packed fall for everyone to enjoy! Also stay tuned for some exciting changes in the Food & Beverage departments as we prepare for new menus, new drinks, and plenty of fun!

-Logan

Can’t wait to see you enjoying your club! Cheers!

EF'S RNER

Hello, Oxbow! Hard to believe it’s already October. Now that things are starting to look a lot like fall, that means menu change. I will be meeting early this month with the house committee to discuss the new menu. As I mentioned last month, I want to get this menu out ASAP. The last two menu roll outs took much longer than I wanted. That being said expect to have some of the fall/winter favorites back. We will also be adding some new options on our entrée menu. Fresh pastas will be rolling out soon!

This October we will have some fun events as well. We will be hosting the first wine dinner of the fall. Featuring some extremely nice wines from the Wagner Vineyards. We also have our Oxboo party! Suzy will be making up some bloody brains and booger popcorn balls with some other spooky treats!

For this month’s recipe I want to share my shrimp and crab mac n cheese recipe.

SHRIMP & CRAB

MAC & CHEESE

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 tablespoon chopped garlic

1 teaspoon red pepper flake

¼ cup white wine

1 cup heavy whipping cream

½ cup shredded parmesan

½ cup shredded gruyere

2-3 dashes hot sauce- I use Tabasco or Cholula

1 cup cavatappi noodles (cooked)

3-4 large shrimp

½ cup lump crab meat

S&P to taste

Procedure:

In a small sauce pan add your butter, olive oil, garlic, and pepper flake. Place on medium-high heat and start blooming the garlic. Once the garlic has browned slightly add your shrimp, and crab. Cook for 1 minute and de glaze with white wine. Reduce the wine down by half and add cream. Bring the cream to a slight simmer and add your cooked noodles, and cheeses. Add your hot sauce at this point. Stir until everything is incorporated and hot. If you like a crispy bread crumb topping you can place this into a small baking dish. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and coat a ½ cup of panko bread crumbs. Sprinkle the bread crumbs over the top of the mac and bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. This recipe should come in handy for some of those cold nights that will soon be here. Enjoy!

GOLF SHOP UPDATE

We have been a busy club this year. In fact we opened 38 days later than 2021 and we have played more rounds of golf in 2022!

2021 March 28 September 30 15,029 rounds

2022 May 4 September 30 15,030 rounds

We are clearly coming to the end of the season sometime soon, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have new things for you to try out. We have received the new Titleist TSR drivers and fairway woods. They have been a hit on the PGA Tour since they were launched on the Tour this summer. They have been seeing increased ball speeds which means more distance!

If you are not aware, we are going to have two new TrackMan Simulators in the event center this winter. The arcade will be in there as well so there will be a lot of chances for you to have fun over the winter. The simulator in the golf shop will be for fitting and lessons. We have really struggled over the last three years with finding lesson and fitting times due to the busyness of the simulator. The new simulators in the event center will free up the golf shop simulator for more player development. We are very excited with the new opportunities that will open up.

We spent the month of September meeting with our sales reps for clothing and clubs. We feel good about the products that are coming in 2023, especially the club side of things. All of the manufacturers have great products coming out in January February. As aforementioned, we already have Titleist fitting clubs in the golf shop. We also have the new Mizuno JPX iron fitting clubs. We should start seeing other clubs showing up in January.

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY

The Board of Directors recently approved the purchase of several additional greens covers to be installed on the driving range tee this fall. Last October there was an organized effort by Oxbow and the NDSU golf teams to repair the tees by filling the all the divots. With the lack of snow cover last winter the majority of the sand/seed mixture had blown off the tee leaving a great deal of empty voids. Our goal with purchasing the covers is to keep the sand/seed mixture in place and promote a faster recovery in the spring. We will open the range tee in the spring by hitting off the mats and will remove the covers when the temperatures and turf growth dictate.

We have noticed a reduction in the growth rate of all the grasses with the change in the temperatures and reduction in daylight hours. These seasonal changes affect the grass plant’s ability to tolerate wear and recover from injury. Replace divots if the grass remains in one piece or fill with the sand/seed from the divot bottles. Please vary cart traffic wear patterns around green and tee paths.

David Wood

See you on the course.
