I hope everyone had a great month of August! It was certainly a busy month here at your club, with lots going on all throughout the month. I hope you have had time to enjoy the golf course, it truly is in amazing shape! As we move in to September, we have so much in store for you, including traditional events like Glow-Ball, our September Wine Dinner, and more. We also have some new and recent additions back again, including our 5K fun run and tailgating, and our new Diamonds and Denim Ball. Upcoming We are busy putting our fall/winter guide together. I know it is not enjoyable to think about the warm weather coming to an end, but our goal is to put together amenities and programming that entertain all year round. This year we will have all brand new arcade games, which will rival anything around. We will also install our additional Trackman simulators the first week of November in the ballroom We are excited to bring these to you, in our continuing effort to provide our members with year-round entertainment. Golf Course Wow what a fun course, and the conditions are spectacular. Just a note, you may see some “discoloration” in the fairways and tee boxes this month This is a good thing, as it is David applying some chemical that eliminates poa annua and bent grass that have crept into those areas. This is an annual process, and necessary to keep these grasses out of the low-mow blue that we seeded our fairways with during the renovation. It won’t last long, but if you notice, that is what you are seeing Out of Bounds on 2 & 13

As many of you know, we took the step to bring back out of bounds on holes 2 and 13 due to safety issues for members and employees alike. In that time, we also experimented with tee placements on both of those holes, to see if that would be something that would help with that issue. After a month, it became apparent that it indeed did eliminate some of the issues. With that, we have removed the in course out of bounds effective August 31st. We do request that members still climb up the berm on the right side of hole #2 when teeing off if using driver, to ensure there are not members in the landing area if you go right and end up on #13. 4

September Hours

With the later sunrise and earlier sunsets, our golf course and clubhouse opening times move up just a bit during the month of September. Starting Tuesday, September 7th, the golf course tee sheet begins at 9am during the week (noon on Mondays), and 8am on weekends. The clubhouse and golf shop will open at 8:30am during the week (11:30AM Mondays), and 7:30am on weekends. These hours will remain in effect until October 3rd I truly hope all of our members have had a great summer here at Oxbow! It’s not over yet, but we know as September rolls in, the temps will eventually start to get lower, and we start thinking about all the fun things fall has in store, including my favorite, college football! In the meantime, enjoy the course and the warm temps, it looks to be a great Labor Day weekend at your club! Sedi

Up until early August, we had great pool conditions all summer. As many of you know, we have had a pipe break underneath the concrete pool deck that caused some inability to use the kids pool for a short time. We will tackle this issue shortly after Labor Day, as we believe we have isolated where the break/leak is, and we hope to have it fixed in September, so we do not have to worry about it this spring. We will have to remove some concrete and replace to do this These issues are common in clay soil areas, as things shift over time, as well as effects of freeze/thaw cycles. Thank you to David, Jesse, and Derek for all of their work on this, as well as all summer!

-Dan Toop Clubhouse Manager dan@oxbowcc.com

Hello everyone I hope you are all doing well as we close in on the end of the summer! The weather has been great for golf and pool activities pretty much all summer and we hope September and October continue this trend We have had a busy summer so far, but we have quite a bit happening yet this fall as well, including Glow Ball coming up on the 9th, Diamonds/Denim Ball on the 23rd followed by Tailgating on the 24th and don’t forget about the pet pool party coming up in a few days. We also have wedding receptions on 7 of the next 8 Saturdays so we will continue to be busy and we look forward to seeing you in and around the clubhouse! Have a great Labor Day weekend!!

How do I see my most recent charges? Why hasn't my statement balance changed?

There are several payment options. Our preferred method is autopay, please contact me for an ACH or Credit Card authorization form Please note, there is a 3% fee to use your credit card. Auto pay is completed on the 10th of the month. If the 10th falls on a weekend, I will process auto pay on the next business day. You can also make payments on the app/website, send a check to the club, or you can drop off payment in my mailbox, which can be found in the first room down the administration office hallway.

-Stacey

ans the leaves will soon start changing and the air will start onth, I want to take some time to address a couple different questions I have been receiving lately: Is gratuity automatically added to my check?

The 18% gratuity is only automatically applied if you don't sign your slip. If you would like to leave a custom tip amount you can always ask for your slip and tip how you would like Getting your slip is also a great way to make sure you were charged correctly for everything you ordered, especially if you are splitting items with other members, etc.

Stacey Fett Controller accounting@oxbowcc.com

Statements are only processed once a month (around the 5th of the month). So the statement balance you see when you check your account on the app, will not change for the month even after you have made a payment. If you make a payment on your account after the 30th, it will not be shown on your next statement. However you can go to your recent charges to see that your payment has been processed To do this, go to the app and click on current statement. This will take you to your account. On the top left, there is a ‘recent’ tab, this will show you all of your recent charges. If there are any discrepancies, please let me know and we can get it fixed. If you do not have the app or do not know how to run it, please let me know, I can look up your recent spending or can help you get acquainted with the app. How can I pay my bill?

The years have gone by so incredibly fast. It seems like it wasn’t that long ago we were still in the old clubhouse. I’m happy to say that I think we have wrapped up another fantastic summer at the club! However, we have a lot of good weather left for the year!

Now that September is upon us, I will start thinking about the new fall menu. I want to get this one out sooner than later. The last two iterations took much longer to get out than I wanted. One thing I want to try again is dry aging steaks. When we first moved into the new clubhouse, I tried it. A lot of people loved it, some not so much. Now that we are here 6 years later I think it’s time to revive it. This winter I am thinking I’d like to do more of a steakhouse type menu. Great steaks and great sides like lobster mac n cheese, and au gratin potatoes. Obviously we will still keep the standard stuff that everyone likes. Let me know your thoughts if you have some free time chef@oxbowcc.com or just catch me sometime at the club!

For this month’s I want to share our Birria taco recipe.

Hello, Oxbow! I’m happy to say that September 1, 2022 marks my 6-year anniversary with you!

Ingredients: 6 dried ancho chiles 4 dried arbol chiles 5 chipotle peppers 6 fresh jalapenos 2 large carrots 2 yellow onions Procedure: Place your dried chiles in a large bowl and fill with boiling water Let these sit for 30 minutes in the water or when they are soft. Remove all the seeds and stems and place in a blender. Add all other ingredients except the carrots and onions to the blender. Heat your oil in a large stock pot and slowly pour in the blended ingredients. Cook this on medium-high heat for ten minutes Cut your brisket into 3 pieces and place in the pot Cover all of this with water. You will want the water to come about an inch over the brisket. Chop your onion and carrot into large pieces and place in the pot. Drop your heat down to a medium. Simmer this for 3 4 hours or until the meat is fork tender. Remove the meat and shred Place the stock pot into your refrigerator to chill You will have a large disc of coagulated fat after it has fully cooled. Remove the fat and melt in a pot. Dip your tortillas in the fat and cook on a grill or flat top. Add your favorite kind of cheese. Re-heat your brisket with the braising liquid and put it in the tortillas Crisp up the tortillas and add the meat Use the braising liquid to dip your tacos in Enjoy! BIRRIA TACOS 3 tablespoons cumin 2 tablespoons dried oregano 1 tablespoon cinnamon 5 cups vegetable oil 1 beef brisket

GOLF SHOP UPDATE

We ask that you keep your golf carts out of the fescue/long grass. You must also keep your golf cart on the cart path at all times when playing par threes

All golfers older than 12 years of age must wear proper golf attire on the golf course and on the driving range. T shirts are not acceptable golf attire

September 9th Couples Glow Ball

September 6th and 7th NDSU Men’s and Women’s Invitational

Everyone must check in prior to golfing. Doing so ensures we have an opportunity to make you aware of anything going on around the golf course

Let’s all make a concerted effort to repair at least two ball marks on every green. Doing so will go a long way to keeping our course in great shape

Corey Herlickson Head Golf Professional corey@oxbowcc.com

We have had an incredible year for play in 2022. This is the busiest that we have seen the tee sheet in the five years I have been at Oxbow CC. In 2022, we opened the golf course on May 4th. Since that day until August 29th, we played 12,069 rounds of golf. If you compare that to May 4th, 2021 until August 29th, 2021, we have played 1,333 more rounds of golf this year!

Titleist will have new drivers, fairway woods and hybrids being released in October. We will receive our fitting heads in early September. They have been very well received on the PGA Tour and we look forward to seeing the results with the fittings we perform this fall. Although we are approaching the end of our golf season, we want to remind you of a few club policies:

September 12th Boys and Girls Club

September 26th NDSU Track and Field Alumni

We have a couple of tournaments in September we would like to make you aware of: Lastly, if you could use your golf shop credit this fall, it would really help us when it comes to buying for the 2022 season. We try to do our best to bring in the best lines and newest trends each year A part of that is making sure we turnover our inventory. Please assist us in turning the inventory over by using your golf shop merchandise credit. -Corey September 17th Hot Ball

October 3rd RRV Seniors

The discoloration in fairways and approaches is from herbicide applications to control poa annua and bentgrass contamination. The control process is a series of five applications in a 14-day time frame. Multiple applications at low rates will not damage the bluegrass. This is the third year we have used this product and will continue in the future as long as we see results In September we will be spraying tee boxes to reduce the bent grass infestation July and August have been very busy on the golf course which leads to many things including ball marks on greens I am asking for your assistance in fixing your mark plus one more on the greens The recovery time for a ball mark that is properly repaired will be cut in half if fixed immediately. Remember to gently pry in from the outside with the repair tool. Do not lift up, this will tear the crown of the plant and the roots out. Tap down with putter to smooth the surface Our friendly staff in the Pro Shop has repair tools if needed (See before/after photos)

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY

The south tees are now five years old and have developed a small layer of thatch about a half inch thick Thatch is the dead plant material (stolons, rhizomes and clippings) that develop between the soil and the crown of the grass plants. We have started core aerating in an effort to minimize this buildup. Excessive thatch can lead to several problems, water repellency being our biggest concern. Water will not infiltrate the soil profile evenly which leads to over watering areas. Golfers should not notice this process once the soil is watered into the turf canopy and the excess organic matter is cleanup. At the current rate of thatch development aerification will need to be done annually on fairways and approaches as soon as next year. See you on the course.

CATERING & EVENTS UPDATE

Theresa Keimig Catering and Events Manager theresa@oxbowcc.com

Hello all!! It’s time to welcome in a new season! Fall is such a fun time of year, evenings spent by the fireplace with family and friends are the best. Fall is also a little sad around Oxbow as our summer staff returns to school, some as students and some as staff. So as the weather is getting cooler, and the evenings shorter, let’s make it an autumn to remember! If you’re thinking about hosting an event, big or small give me a call or send me an email We still have some openings for weddings for the upcoming summer and I would love to help you create some lasting memories with family and friends. Let us take care of the setup and cleanup while you enjoy time with your guests T
