From theManager General March is finally here! It is exciting for most of us to put January and February in the rearview mirror, as we look forward to warmer weather and hopefully get close to opening up the course. After a few very long winters, we hope for a return back to openings in early April, around the Masters. In the meantime, we have much going on at your club, as you will see in the following pages of the newsletter.

MANAGER'S MESSAGE Sedi Halvorson Sedi@oxbowcc.com

Membership: We have welcomed 20 new member families to Oxbow since the beginning of the year. I want to thank all of our members who have referred their friends and colleagues to their club. We are truly focused on becoming a club that members can enjoy, all year round. We continued that this year with multiple fun winter events, as well as the Oxbow arcade which debuted this year. We will continue to make this a focus for years to come, as we look to keep adding wintertime fun for all of our members. In the meantime, please welcome our new members when you see them around the club, and assist them in any way you can. Food and Beverage Minimums: I hope everyone enjoyed the quarterly minimums for the first quarter of the year. Starting April 1st, we will go back to $90 monthly minimums.Hopefully with the warm weather we have been having, it should not be any problem for anyone to make it out to the club. COVID: Corey sent an email out to all of our members in late March, with some great reminders for the golf course. One of those reminders focused on riding two per cart this year. This is imperative to keeping our turf in great shape. For those that may want it, we purchased clear plastic dividers for our carts that enable two members to ride together, with a barrier in between. Please see the golf shop for more information. Also, the associates who serve you every day will continue to wear masks through the month of April. Many of our team members are going through the vaccination process at this time. I will update the membership in my next article as to how we will proceed in the coming months. We have a lot coming up this month for you, and adding in early golf is a great bonus! I hope we see you soon at your club. -Sedi

Events Coordinator Update HEATHER NELSON HEATHER@OXBOWCC.COM

Hello everyone! Happy April! I hope that everyone has had a great month! I am getting so excited as it is getting warmer outside. Summer is right around the corner and I for one can not wait. The club is so much fun in the summer and I love seeing all the activity we have out here. The arcade is still around! With is being so popular we decided to keep it around for a bit longer for everyone to enjoy. If you were hoping to reserve some space in the arcade please feel free to reach out to me and I would be happy to get something set up. I have met so many of my brides and grooms over the past couple of months with all of our tasting and detailing meetings. It is getting me so exited for this summer! I am looking forward to all the weddings, golf tournaments and social events that we have this summer at the club.

If you are looking for some event space for any kind of event this summer please reach out to me at heather@oxbowcc.com or 701-598-115 and I would be happy to get you on the schedule and help create a great summer event! I hope everyone has a great month of April and has a great Easter with family and friends! See you around the club 😊 Thank you, Heather Nelson

CLUBHOUSE UPDATE Kyle Millar Clubhouse Manager kyle@oxbowcc.com

Well, another winter month in the books, and I believe this will be the last one. At least I hope it is because if it’s not, we are going to have some cold golfers out on the course. Yes, that is correct the course is opening up at the very end of March! The month of March seems to have gone by in a flash. Every week felt like we got busier and busier as members were itching to get out of their cold winter funk and get back into the sunshine. Our Sundays always seemed to be hoppin' with brunch in the mornings followed by fun family events like Mini Golf, Bingo, and the Eggstravaganza, kept members and staff alike very busy. It was great to see so much activity at the club after January and February. March also came with another big club event, Stag. Since this was my first experience with Stag, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. I knew that the boys would be coming out to eat and drink their fill, but it was so much more than that. The amount of planning and preparation is staggering. Food needs to be prepped and prepared, beverages of all sorts need to be brought in, and donations need to be found. When we finally got to the auctions you could tell that these guys really love their club and the bidding wars showed this. Yes, they wanted to win something, but for most of the members it was about giving back to the club no matter who won. Guests also got a chance to see everything Oxbow has to offer. Who knows, maybe after Stag some of them said, “If this is what I can expect from this club, maybe this is the year I become an Oxbow member”, at least that’s what I hope. Moving into April, we start out with a bang. Not only do we have our Easter Brunch on the 4th, but as stated above THE COURSE IS OPEN! Members have been hitting the range pretty hard so far in the hopes that they can shake of the rust quickly. A lot of smiling faces around the club lately. With everything going on there is plenty of things to keep the staff busy. Here’s to a fun April! -Kyle

Chef's Corner SCOTT MOTSCHENBACHER EXECUTIVE CHEF CHEF@OXBOWCC.COM

Hello, Oxbow! Here we go!! Golf season is officially here. Much earlier than the last few years. Kind of caught me by surprise. This time last year we were still buried by feet of snow. I have been trying to keep up with grab and go demand. We have not yet rolled out the grab and go menu however, I do currently have some specialty brats available. After a lot of testing, I have landed on a few brats/sausages for the year. We will have a hot Italian topped with giardiniera (hot pickled vegetables). Smoked cheddar and jalapeno topped with nacho cheese and pico de gallo. Polish sausage topped with sauerkraut. Bacon and cheddar topped with baked beans, BBQ sauce, and pickles. We will also have our regular brat and hot dogs available. With the change of the grab and go menu I am also working on changes to the regular dining menu. I will be bringing back some of the favorites. Some things everyone still orders even though it is not on the current menu. With the course opening that means the pool is soon to follow. We will be offering a few more things in the pool house for quick service and grab and go. I am looking forward to another fun season without masks! In early March, I lost a couple of key people in the kitchen. It was tough but we got through it. I have hired a new sous chef that I am extremely impressed with. His name is Stephen Parnow, he and his family recently moved to the area from South Carolina. Stephen has country club experience which is always a huge plus. I am excited to have this new taste pallet in the kitchen. He comes from a place that has fresh seafood at their fingertips at all times. His shrimp and grits are out of this world! Having him on board with menu creation is going to be fantastic! If you get a chance, pop your head in the kitchen and say hi! That is about all the news I have from the culinary department. Cheers to warm weather and golf!! 22

Recipe of the Month: Rice For this month’s recipe I want to share my rice recipe. Just like last month it is a pretty simple recipe. However, the amount of people that have asked me how to properly prepare rice is kind of mind blowing. “Rice is great if you’re really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something”-Mitch Hedberg Ingredients 1 cup long grain white or brown rice 2 cups water or chicken stock 1 tablespoon salt 2 tablespoons unsalted butter cubed

Procedure: First you want to rinse your rice. Just like vegetables you want to rinse off any impurities and any extra starch. Dump your rice into a fine sieve and rinse with cold water. Add the rice to a large baking dish and add your liquid. I like to use water when I am making stir fry or any other Asian influenced dishes. I like to use chicken stock when having savory dishes like chicken, and vegetables. Dealers’ choice on this. Add your salt and stir. Cover the baking dish with tin foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed. Remove from the oven and remove the tin foil. Take a fork and gently stir the rice a bit. Then add your butter cubes and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Give it one final stir to mix the butter in. Serve with whatever you see fit!

GOLF SHOP UPDATE Corey Herlickson Head Golf Professional corey@oxbowcc.com

Well, the uncertainty that we had last year is a lot different than this year. We had a pretty good idea when we were going to open this year as opposed to last year. We know what we can and cannot do as far as golf carts, tees, golf shop being open, etc. We are very excited for another year of golf and our team is ready to assist you with any needs you may have this season! Last year we were allowing golfers to take separate golf carts, but this year we will be back to pairing up and minimizing the number of golf carts that go out in each group. Between the number of rounds that were played last year (50% increase from 2019) and the number of carts that went out in each group, we saw considerable turf wear. If you are concerned about riding with another golfer in your golf cart, we have dividers we can put in the cart to minimize the risk of spreading germs. We have found that UV rays kill germs very quickly as well so that is a blessing. Whether you are using a club cart or your own, please limit carts to two carts per foursome. We have a new golf cart fleet coming in late April – early May and many of you should start seeing you own new carts that you have purchased around the same time. Our new carts have lithium-ion batteries that require zero maintenance and can go 54 holes in one charge. They also charge faster than our fleet. Each cart weighs 280 lbs less which will result in less turf wear! If you haven’t checked out the Golf Guide, it is sent out as an attachment on every Golf Shop Weekly Update. This guide provides you all of the information you need to know for all of our golf programming, leagues and tournaments. Print it out and keep it handy at home for your reference. The Masters is being played on April 8-11, which really means the beginning of the golf season is here!!! As a reminder the BATTLE lotto drawing will be at 7pm on Thursday, the 8th! -Corey

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY David Wood Superintendant david@oxbowcc.com

Every year the Grounds Department submits a capital equipment request to the Board of Directors for maintenance needs. This year there were several pieces purchased which included a pesticide sprayer, cart path edger and power washer/steamer. The new sprayer will replace a unit that Oxbow purchased in 2010. This sprayer is larger with a 300-gallon tank that will allow us to cover more acres with less time refilling and mixing. Plus, self-leveling spray booms to follow the ground contours and provide consistent product application coverage. The second capital piece purchased is a cart path edger. With several miles of path edges, we will be able to clean-up the paths multiple times a year in a few hours. This unit attaches to a utility cart and is easy to put on and take off. We have started the edging on the north holes and should have all the paths cleaned up by the end of the month. The pressure washer/steamer will be used for equipment detailing and maintenance. This piece will be used on the golf course to open up frozen or plugged drains, as well as sidewalks around the clubhouse and the pool deck. With the greens still semi-dormant and not having consistent color it can be difficult to see ball marks, please take the time to find and repair your marks. It is exciting to be open in March, but it will be several weeks before the greens start growing and recovering from damage. See you on the course. David Wood
