FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER II don’t know about any of you, but I am about done with the terms “clipper” and “blizzard”! It has been a challenging couple of months on the weather front, but hopefully we can begin to put some of that behind us as we can see spring up ahead. Upcoming We have many great member activities and events coming up this month, and I encourage everyone to review the calendar included in this month’s newsletter. One of my favorites each year is our Character Brunch, which will be on Sunday, March 6th. We also have many other fun events, and also make sure to look ahead to April, to ensure you get registered for events as soon as possible. Membership As we get closer to spring, it is once again that time where we start receiving more membership inquiries, from non-members, and from members who are looking to refer their friends. We have had more membership inquires in February than I can ever remember. As I state each year, the far majority of our new members come from referrals from current members. We believe Oxbow to be the best value in club membership, especially with all that is included in your dues. We had an unbelievable membership year in 2021, and I expect that to continue in to 2022, as we look to reach our capacity in all membership categories. New Associates As we begin to get closer to being open seven days per week, and eventually the summer season, we have begun our search for seasonal teammates to join us at Oxbow. As most of you know, employment is a challenge for many businesses right now. We are fortunate enough to have many of our teammates from last year returning again in 2022! However, we still will need to fill some spots, as always. We have openings for seasonal teammates in the following areas: ·Course Maintenance ·Golf Shop and Outside Services ·Food & Beverage Servers ·Lifeguards ·Banquet Servers

MANAGER'S MESSAGE Sedi Halvorson General Manager sedi@oxbowcc.com If you know of anyone interested in a fun place to work in the summer, please send them our way. We encourage applicants to go to www.oxbowcc.com, and click on the “About Us” tab on the top left. From there, prospective employees can click on the “Employment” link on the left side of the page, which will take them to our online application. We receive these applications in real time, and we are typically able to follow up within 24 – 48 hours. One of the reasons we have many associates return each season to Oxbow is they love the members, so THANK YOU for being so great to our teammates! I hope everyone is excited for March, as we get closer to more time outdoors and fun in the sun. I hope to see you soon, at your club! Sedi
FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER UPDATE Logan Winters-Helmbrecht Food and Beverage Manager logan@oxbowcc.com
Hello everyone! I hope everyone has had a great February, it’s hard to believe that it’s already March! I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to spring more than usual this year. Me being a true Minnesotan at heart, it’s hard to say that I am sick of winter, the cold, and the snow! Before we know it, golf season will be upon us, sunny days at the pool, balmy days on the course, and fun filled nights on the patio. Looking back over the past month, I know it seemed like it went by quick, but we had quite a lot of things going on here at the club. We’ve had Kid’s Night filled with plenty of fun activities for the kiddos, including movies and crafts. Trivia Nights are a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy, props to the Langemo’s for their impeccable knowledge on music through the years! We hosted the Superbowl party, and that seemed to be a fun gathering for many members and their families to come hang out, enjoy some great food and specials, and see a lively half time show! Family Bingo has been another popular family activity, so if you are looking for some fun things to do with the kids, or the whole family, come on in and check it out! The Arcade has also been a big hit for everyone, for the young and also the young at heart, whether you are looking to shoot some hoops, have some air hockey or ping pong tournaments, bag your very own trophy buck, or all the coloring you can imagine, Oxbow Arcade is the place for you! I have been posting typically daily or weekly about all the specials we have here at the club, Scott and his team do an AMAZING job at giving a wide variety of tasty dinner specials, fresh pastas, steak specials, fresh fish specials, and homemade soups. And let’s not forget about Suzie’s desserts, always something on the dessert menu, and if you are too full, you can always take it to go! Pizza’s also made a return to the menu on National Pizza Day, available for dine in or carry out. Looking ahead into March, we have lots of events for you and the whole family to partake in! Some event to look forward to; Kid’s Night is coming up, and Encanto will be playing! Then Character Brunch, make sure to bring the kids out and see some of their favorite Characters, and have some great food prepared by Scott and his crew! This month we also have Movie Trivia Night, we have a Comedy Night on the books, as well as Family Bingo! Plenty of fun things planned for the upcoming month, check out our event calendar for dates and more info! Whether you are looking for a wide variety of different foods, specials, and wine, or a place to take the family for fun and games, celebrate a birthday, or even a nice date night filled with good food, wine, and desserts, or you are just looking to get away, Oxbow is the place for you. And we can’t wait to see you! I hope everyone has a great month, see you soon!

Happy March Oxbow! Hope this month brings much warmer weather. I just wanted to take the time this month to offer up a couple of tips for accessing your statement, charges, etc. How do I see my most recent charges? To keep an eye on your account, you can go to the app and click on current statement. This will take you to your account. On the top left, there is a ‘recent’ tab, this will show you all of your recent charges. If there are any discrepancies, please let me know and we can get it fixed. If you do not have the app or do not know how to run it, please let me know, I can look up your recent spending or can help you get acquainted with the app. When will I receive my monthly statement? Statements are processed by the 5th of the month. If you are not receiving your statement, please let me know so we can get your email and/or address updated in the system. When is payment due? Can I set up auto-pay? Payment for your account is due by the end of the month. If you are not already set up on auto-pay, please contact me for an ACH or Credit Card authorization form. Please note, there is a 3% fee to use your credit card. Auto-pay is completed on the 10th of the month. If the 10th falls on a weekend, I will process auto-pay on the next business day. Am I able to get an itemized copy of my charges each time I dine at the restaurant? Yes, you can get a copy of your check each time you come in and eat. This is a great way for you to make sure you are getting charged correctly for everything you ordered (especially if you are splitting apps/dinner with friends). Just ask your server and they will be happy to help you with this.
Stay warm and enjoy your club! -Stacey

CHEF'S CORNER Scott Motschenbacher Executive Chef chef@oxbowcc.com
Hello Oxbow! I hope everyone had a wonderful February. It was a touch cold and snowy. March is here and that means we are just a little closer to golf season. Even though there is no golf there is still plenty to do at your club. This month we will have a cooking class about proper knife technique and butchery. We have had this class in the past and it was a hit. Be sure to sign up asap as these spots fill quick. We will also be hosting another wine dinner, date is TBD. Let’s not forget about character brunch! This is a great brunch for the kids. We will have multiple characters on hand giving autographs and taking pictures. This month I will be attending the Chef to Chef conference in Nashville. This is going to be a great opportunity for me to see what other chefs in the Country Club industry are doing. There is a great list of classes to chose from. For me I need to figure out what classes to take that will have the most impact. I hope to return with some fun ideas that we can execute this coming golf season. I’m also looking forward to some (hopefully) great BBQ! Speaking of BBQ! I am hoping the smoker we ordered in December will be here soon. This will have a huge impact on the upcoming menu change. One thing we want to offer is whole smoked chickens for grab n go. The idea would be similar to the rotisserie chickens you can get at any of the local grocery stores. I think we’ve all been there, running late and forgot to figure out dinner plans. Why not grab a smoked chicken from your local Oxbow Country Club?? The plan is to also offer up some other great BBQ options. Some of you may know that I have a lot of experience with BBQ. I spent the first 7 years of my career as the head chef at Spitfire. I learned a lot while I was there from timing and temperature to different types of rubs for different proteins. I am very excited to say the least!!
BBQ RUB/SEASONING For this month’s recipe I want to share a BBQ rub/seasoning. This is kind of an all purpose rub. Works great with beef, chicken, pork or even fish. Ingredients: ½ cup paprika ½ cup granulated garlic ½ cup black pepper ¼ cup kosher salt 3 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon white sugar 2 tablespoons red pepper flake 1 tablespoon onion powder 1 tablespoon dried thyme leaves 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper Procedure: Mix all ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly and store in an air tight container. When it’s time to smoke or grill. Remove your protein from refrigeration and let it sit until it is room temperature. Apply the rub generously and let it sit for 30-60 minutes. Then onto the smoker! The rest is up to you. If you have any questions on timing and temperature shoot me an email chef@oxbowcc.com or catch me at the club!
GOLF SHOP UPDATE Corey Herlickson Head Golf Professional corey@oxbowcc.com
March is the time of year where we feel warmer temperatures and we see excitement from the membership on the start of another golf season. I type this as I work from home due to a blizzard outside. It doesn’t seem like winter is almost over when I look outside, but I assure you the golf shop team is working hard at making sure we are ready to go when Mother Nature decides to change its attitude. There are some golf products that may be very hard to get on special order this year. Our sales reps have informed us of this issue way back in the fall. Peggy and I have made sure that we ordered more of those items than we usually do to ensure we have plenty of inventory. One example is golf bags. We have been informed by almost every vendor that special orders will not be available. Therefore, we ordered more bags for 2022 than we did in 2021. Golf balls may enter this realm as well. If you have corporate golf ball orders you would place during the year, we are suggesting getting them in sooner rather than later. We will still see back orders on golf clubs due to shaft and grips issues. As always, we will do our best to find as close of a substitute for you in order to get them in a timely fashion if so desired. Director of Instruction, Ben Walker, has created some new programming and we will be using a new tool for you to following your progress as a golfer called Operation 36. It is more specifically targeted to beginning golfers, but golfers of all levels can utilize it. The goal of Operation 36 is to have each beginning golfer or relative beginner at a specific yardage on each hole. You goal is to shot 36 from that yardage. Once you shoot 36 from a yardage you will be moved back to a longer yardage. You will continue in this fashion until you reach the tee that you desire to permanently play. Operation 36 has an interactive app which is unique to each member who chooses to use it. It will track your stats and allows the golf professionals to review how each golfer is progressing. This will allow for the professionals to cater to specific needs of each golfer. Look for more information coming soon as we are just starting to be trained in on the new program.
GOLF SHOP UPDATE Registration for our Member-Guest, the Battle at the Bow, will begin on March 1st and end on March 31st. We have sent an email out to all eligible golfers for this event. We will continue to do so throughout March. You will have a month to register and we will host a lottery drawing on Thursday night of the first round of The Masters! -Corey

NEWS FROM THE FAIRWAY David Wood Superintendent david@oxbowcc.com
During the winter we take some time for continuing education to remain current with new equipment and products. We are fortunate to have the North Central Turfgrass Association (NCTGA) host an educational conference and trade show here in Fargo every February. This year’s conference was two days with speakers from four different states talking about irrigation, equipment maintenance and turfgrass issues. I would like to recognize our Assistant Superintendent, Jesse Lunde, for being elected to their Board of Directors for a three-year term. He will bring new ideas and energy to the group. Like most businesses we are concerned with labor issues for the upcoming season. Finding the required staffing to maintain the facility will be a challenge. We have scrutinized our pay and benefits to make sure we are an attractive option for potential staff. If you know of anyone looking for employment, full or part-time we have opportunities available, please have them contact us. Weather conditions have been rough up to now this winter. I do believe we prepared the golf course properly and have had enough snow cover to help protect the turf to survive the cold. In the coming weeks we will have the opportunity to survey the golf course and determine how everything looks. Hope to see you on the course soon. David Wood
